Celine Martin is a young Parisian woman, Indian by origin, which completed an art academy in 1999. In 2006 she established her own firm – SAHLiNi Parfums – and presented her first two fragrances: Sahlini La Femme and L'Homme, which have drawn my attention with their beautiful oriental compositions and quality.

Sahlini (her Indian name) was born in Bombay (Mumbai), India, and when she was seven months old she was adopted by a French couple who took her to France where Sahlini then became Celine Martin. Since her early childhood the talented girl was showing her interest in art. She was especially interested in the art of creation of fragrances, and therefore her Art Academy dissertation was devoted to that.

After completing her studies, she visited her homeland, India, from where she returned both enchanted and confused, and she decided to share her emotions with the rest of the world. Together with her partners she established Sahlini Parfums and launched her fist fragrances which were created under the strong impression of her trip to India. Sahlini Parfums is a French firm as Celine is French by her upbringing, but her South-Asian blood had to speak out and express through the temperament of her creations.

Sahlini La Femme is a fragrance that presents an Indian woman – beautiful, passionate, but wise. The composition is bright, oriental, full of spices, yet at the same time well balanced.

The top notes of orange blossom are joyful and intriguing; they appeal and announce a beautiful continuance. With the development of the composition the flowers become exuberant and rich, there come jasmine and tuberose accompanied with intensive patchouli accord. The deep base notes are dark, yet fine and sophisticated. The composition balances between the two civilizations. It is elegant and temperamental, announcing a new and unusual fragrance, a beautiful encounter of the West and the East. In short, this fragrance by all means stands out among the contemporary fragrance assortment.

As it is said on the Sahlini Parfums web site, the fragrance for men L'Homme is created in line with the western tradition. However, I would say that this fragrance too did not resist the charms of India. It is very intensive from the beginning, very unusual, temperamental; the short fresh opening is quickly replaced with the dominant spices.
In addition, limited editions La Femme En Noir and L'Homme En Noir have been launched.
