A number of news outlets have been buzzing with news that actress Kristen Bell wears a $4 USD fragrance when walking down the red carpet. BodyandSoul reports:

When celebs accessorise their red-carpet couture gowns, they normally look to Harry Winston, Chopard or Tiffany & Co. but Kristen Bell rummaged through the aromatherapy section to complete her floral Zuhair Murad gown. During her interview with E! News’ Guliana Rancic, Bell shared she was wearing amber oil on her wrist instead of typical perfume. “I get it at whole foods. A little bottle that says Amber on it. Four bucks. Go for it,” the actress said, before promising Rancic, “I’ll get you some.”

Here at Fragrantica, we recently published an overview of some of our own favorite affordable amber fragrances. You can read our picks HERE.

New fragrances launching recently that have been in the news this week include Barcelona-based Boris Bidjan Saberi's eponymous first scent in collaboration with Geza Schoen. Highsnobiety writes:

Barcelona-based label Boris Bidjan Saberi has just unveiled its first ever perfume. Created in collaboration with Geza Shoen, the fragrance is built on notes of vegetable tanned horse skin, and features 11 ingredients – a signature number for the brand – with a 22% essence. Two years in the making, the scent is based on the brand’s iconic vegetable tanned horse leather.

And US-based, country singer Trisha Yearwood has launched her new, eponymously-named, woody-floral-amber scent that can now be found at Wal-Mart

Additional new launches this week include Bollywood star Lisa Ray's Jasmine of India and Bronnley's of England's new Pink Peony & Rhubarb.

From MoodieDavittReport we learned that Heathrow Airport has gotten flowery this week with a new scent-themed art installation:

The artwork is based on a new report which outlines both purchasing trends of passengers travelling through Heathrow, and wider fragrance behaviours from across the world. Each country in the map depicts the fresh scents that feature in the most-liked fragrances of different nations.

Earlier this week, Fragrantica.br writer Dan Barros reported on another art installation inspired by fragrance and flowers, a labyrinth of aroma in a Brazil shopping mall. Read about it HERE.

And in bargain shopping news, guess who's getting into the beauty biz? NewBeauty has revealed that Old Navy is going new fragrance:

Clothing and accessories chain Old Navy is getting into the beauty business, launching a private-label personal care range created in conjunction with Tru Fragrance called Kindred Goods, WWD reports. The line will launch this Thursday at select locations. The Kindred Goods line will include three different scents (Sea Salt & Fig, Sweet Cream & Honey and Orange Blossom & Tea) and five products that will start at $6; an eau de parfum, hair and body mist, hand cream, foaming body scrub and body lotion will make up the lineup.

With all of the department store brands that have been launching recently, who thinks Target should jump into the mix with limited edition designer offerings that accompany their seasonal collaborations? After all, H&M often does it!

In fragrance advertising news, Armani is bypassing the typical model-based images in favor of successful female leaders for its new Sì Intense campaign. SFChronicle reports:

Three years ago, Armani launched a female-empowerment promotion for Sì perfume with Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett as the face of the fragrance and the star of several online videos and social-media hashtag campaigns (#saysi) encouraging women to say “yes” to their dreams. This spring, Armani expanded the push with the Sì Women’s Circle, choosing five women from around the world to share career challenges and triumphs. Their videos and interviews, now online, coincide with the August launch in the U.S. of Sì Intense, a new variation of the fragrance.

We've seen this before in, for example, Chanel Allure ads and it's a nice change. Looking forward to seeing these women in Armani!

Doesn't target already have limited designer offerings with their sonia Kashuk cosmetic line? Sonia's fragrances & scented body products are always great. I have her Pink Innocencia (daft name for a great tuberose), Yellow Alluriana (grapefruit, verbena & musk) and White Etheriana (Sicilian lemon, Brazilian acai and tulip accord. mid notes of Provence mimosa, bamboo and dewy violet combine with patchouli, tree moss, peach skin and musk).

I fell for many Gap scents. I loved their bottles also. Old Navy could be comparable. I look forward to trying them!

More proof that Kristen Bell is an awesome person. :-)

I'm very intrigued by the Old Navy scents. Sometimes it's good to have something very inexpensive that you can spray to your heart's content and not have to hoard. Has anyone tried these?
