"If a kiss is the sweetest meeting in the world and it is disappearing more and more from reality, what has changed in us or around us? Did we become insensitive towards others? Did the contemporary culture of the media reject the idea of togetherness realized in a pair, by favorizing being solo as the modus vivendi?

Did it, leaving fanatics of faith in future behind itself, support massive indifference and apathy as the universal new look, on the one hand, and recommend lack of feelings as an old-fashioned relation to others, on the other?

Did not a kiss as a paradigm of closeness lose its basic meaning and by that become the best evidence that contemporary culture promotes distance instead of closeness?'' – says Zorica Tomic, author of the book The Kiss in the Time of Cooling, and I can't help wondering if she is really right!

A kiss is as important as food and water to us. The wish for kisses is a pathological need, a chemical-biologic reaction, which is followed by a number of changes in our organism. The pulse of our heart increases up to 150 beats in a minute, as many as 12 calories disappear in seven seconds and 34 facial muscles are activated and participate in a kiss, along with 40 muscles of your neck and head!

The origin of the kiss dates back to ancient times, from a kiss between mother and child. The mother chewed food for her child and fed the child this way, just like a bird feeds little birds. The feeling of being protected developed this way and it was engraved in the collective memories of human species. Even Sigmund Freud connected the mouth with sexuality and a kiss with food, so when we miss kisses, we actually crave care and closeness.

Kisses are an essential part of all spheres of our lives. They can be noticed in music, movies, art, religion, history and the cultures of various peoples. All nations of the world enjoy kisses! But different cultures necessarily have various forms and symbols for a kiss: a kiss on the hand, rubbing noses, a kiss on the cheek or on the lips. . . . No matter the people, all kisses incorporate intimacy and lust which leads to sexual intercourse with your close and beloved one. As doctors state, a kiss can even have therapeutic attributes.

According to some statistics, humans spend over 300 hours of our lives kissing! Our brain is totally darkened; it triggers special neurons which can be found of the lips of the other person. If there is a lack of kisses during sexual intercourse, sexologists state that such a relationship is in a serious crisis.

Do we think about our kisses, do we analyze them, remember them…? Each kiss has its own symbolic, its message and meaning.

Don't stay cool to your kisses, be devoted to them!
