Amaretto is Italian liqueur often compared with sherry. It has a sweet taste with dominant almond aroma. It is composed of almond, apricot and spices.

The name Amaretto originates from Amaro, what means bitter in Italian. However, its taste is not bitter, but sweet and almond like.

It is often added to various kinds of sweets, chocolates, cakes, candies... Amaretto should not be mistaken for Amaro which is a different kind of liqueur made of other kinds of plants.
