The pina colada comes from Spanish strained pineapple - pina, pineapple + colada, strained. It is a sweet, rum-based cocktail made with light rum, coconut cream, and pineapple juice, usually served either blended or shaken with ice. It also may be garnished with a pineapple wedge or a maraschino cherry.
