Alex by Alex Curran is a Oriental Floral fragrance for women. Alex was launched in 2007. The fragrance features tonka bean, musk, vanilla, jasmine, bergamot, rose and lemon.
To begin with I really liked this one. I wear it quite a lot during the day but I'm starting to go off it because whenever I've worn it lately all I smell is Play Doh. The Rose in it comes through a lot, but mostly it's just Play Doh.
I think it's quite a sweet, young frangrance but my husband isn't keen and say's it smells of 'old lady'. I'm not sure if it's the strong Rose note that's making him say that or if it's the bottle design though. My bottle has an etching of white lace on the glass and maybe that combined with the pale pink juice inside is swaying him.
It's a nice scent though and considering I got it for less than £10 I'd say it's worth it. I just can't seem to get beyond the heavy Play Doh, unfortunately.
The scent opens with Rose, it then develops a ever so slight vanilla and musk. The rose is still prominent throughout. Its definitely a perfume that i actually enjoy wearing. I dont like a perfume thats heavy or cloggy so this perfume suits me as its subtle and light. My boyfriend dosent generally like me wearing perfumes around him but he commented on how he actually liked this perfume. Im assuming thats because the scent is light and not annoying his head
Does smell little citrus at the start. I didnt like it initially. I was offered a spray when i walked in the door of a chemist, however the little card it was sprayed on, i left it in my handbag, and it was now a lovely floral scent. I actually went back and purchased the gift set. I love the fact that is gentle and subtle. I know alot of people have criticized this perfume just because Alex is only know for her footballer husband, without actually smelling it. I would suggest to you, dont let that influence your decision because its actually a nice perfume. Much much nicer than coleens perfume. Which was really horrible in my opinion and it created a huge buzz
I have a bottle of Alex and if it wasn't for the fact the fragrance is really gentle and subtle - it would be my favourite.
The lasting power isn't too bad for a bottom shelf perfume; I can actually smell it after 12 hours! It is really subtle, nevertheless, you can still smell it on your skin.
The beginning is a bit bitter (like crushed blackcurrant leaves, although they are not listed as notes), after 10 minutes it becomes sweet like a vanilla cookie with rose jam :-)
Overall, it is well worth trying as the quality really outweights the price.
Feminine but not distinctive.
More of a relaxing mist for an after shower morning :-)
