I have it: 1 I had it: 1 I want it: 33
Amanda Lepore is one of the world's most famous transsexual, the muse of the photographer David LaChapellea. In collaboration with the company Artware Editions and the awarded perfumer Christophe Laudamielom, the "drag queen" launches her/his limited edition luxury perfume in 2008.
Amanda fragrance captures gentle elegance, glamour and the amazing power of new molecular Orriniff, which provides warm notes of iris root and amber, and creates an ideal platform for the floral notes such as tuberose, orange blossom and violets. Sparkling citruses and Cristal champagne aromas are inspired by Italian Renaissance elixirs. Accords of cucumber, strawberry and red lip stick contribute to the mischievousness composition.
Amanda perfume is limited to only 5,000 copies of a 125 ml bottle decorated with 1,000 pieces of Swarovski crystal with satin atomizer, packed in boxes with photographs signed by Nico Iliev.

I can always smell Amanda in the room before I see her.. this scent is unbelievable and memorable. The price is outrageous and I think it would be wildly successful if it were more accessible.
The powder puff on the vanity table of decadence
I didn't know quite exactly how to start this review since a few impressions come to mind when stumbling over this fragrance. First you got the advertiser of the scent, Amanda Lepore. I don't want to say my personal thoughts about the person since I want to review the fragrance for you without prejudices. Then there's the bottle - yes, it looks like a disco ball, but could be something else as well. To me it looks like the flaconisation of Ms. Lepore's breast implants, unnatural and surreal in shape, therefore striking and prominent. OK, I said something still, but end that for now. A look at the pyramid raises my curiosity. Strawberries, cucumber, champagne, the beloved tuberose and finally the so-called lipstick-accord - unusual, interesting, I want to smell it.
So let's just dive in into the world of eccentricity, decandence and bizarreness.
The opening is a mix of bubbly champagne, fruity strawberries and refreshing cucumber. An opening that couldn't be more bizarre than that. Fruity sweetness paired with vitalizing freshness and effervescent luxury. It seems to be Amanda Lepore's philosophy of life for sure. After the opening settles down there's a change to the scent that surprises me a lot. I smell something very hard to describe. It's somehow powdery, partly synthetic, yet seemingly oily, almost floury. It has to be the lipstick-accord I'm smelling and I wonder a lot about me liking it because I never thought I would like the smell of lipstick, let alone I never thought the essence could be captured in a scent. The lipstick leaves a permanent trace on my skin and nose. The grand finale is openend by one of the most beautiful creatures of the night, the tuberose. Her aromatic & sweet scent is enhanced by a layer of powder deluxe. Together with violet and orris root (in fact the specially created orriniff-molecule) the tuberose pollinates everything as if pollen trickles down continuously. I feel like I'm permanently processed with a powder puff, but very softly and not overpowering as tuberose can be for some. Additionally I'm still refreshed anew from time to time by the cucumber that's coming back like a beauty mask to lay down on your skin and moisten it.
This is truly no common scent, but I like it quite a lot. It's exactly the type of scent I like. The lasting power is acceptable and one may attract attention for sure. I assume not many people have smelled something like this before.
So what is "Amanda" after all? Is it the barenaked truth that's delivere here? Amanda Lepore without make-up despite make-up notes and associations? I can't really believe it. I would rather call it an artificial entity of aspects of her life. We have elements of luxury and frivolaty with champagne and strawberries. We have decadance and overexaggeration of the glamour lifestyle with the tuberose. From lipstick, violet and orris root/orriniff we get some sort of facade that needs to be deposited. And the cucumber offers the soft core that needs to be discovered. Different ascepts are in this fragrance. Definetely the eccentricity and bizarreness that Amanda Lepore stands for in place of a bunch of people from the superrich. But there is also the already mentioned human, blunt side - the purity, the vulnerable inside. The fragrance is a winner to me because it once again unites components that seem to be contradictory and expresses itself totally different to the advertisement. But since it's a limited product with a very high price ($550 = 500 €) and a breast implant-like looking bottle that even has crystals on it, I wouldn't buy this. I would like to suggest the production company to sell it regularly in fewer amounts for a more profitable price and nicer packaging and I would purchase right away - despite the advertising face that just doesn't appeal to me.
I sampled this fragrance today, & I must say the longer I wear it the more I like it.
It starts off rather bubbly, & settles into a wonderfully soft, fresh scent. It's not soapy smelling at all, but still makes me think of just getting out of the shower.
Too bad it's so stunningly expensive.
I was lucky to obtain this beautiful perfume and even more so beautiful bottle of Amanda after a friend of mine purchased it during Gay pride week in '09. I think at first i felt divided about this fragrance. Such a flamboyant and glamorous bottle and such a clean and fresh spring scent. My expectations were for something Heavy and over the top...something along the lines of Agent Provocateur or even Tom Ford except somewhat skankier (if such a thing can be achieved). But I guess this a fragrance more about personality. Amanda has an incredibly "sparkly" outer shell for her personality, over the top and in your face and maybe on the inside is a sense of calm and freedom. Thats what i get from this perfume. Freedom and a sense of incredible warmth and calm, something I never would have thought I could ever associate with someone like Amanda Lepore. The Strawberry and Cucumber are quite prominent for me and the smell of champagne seems to have been spilt all over the floor and the strawberries are just floating it. I love that about the fragrance it gives it a bit more depth for me and differentiates it away from being overly simple or fleeting into an area of total commercialism. I love love love the cleanliness of this scent, I actually wore it today after a long day of surfing...just sat on the porch with only this under my jumper and then the cool breeze rushing through. Its definetly an experience wearing this scent, well for me it is anyway. The lasting power for Amanda is wonderful, this fragrance lasts all day long although I can see this scent being worn at night as well.
Ordered a decant! Amanda Lepore is pure over the top camp and a wonderfully subversive choice for a celebrity endorser and I love many of CL's creations. This one reminds me of Penhaligon's Amaranthine and Frederic Malle's Perfume de Therese, with its refined yet prominent watery cucumber/melon accord. On my skin a vegetal violet is the only flower which stands out- don't smell any strawberries. Amanda is a clean, long lasting skin scent and might be the only understated thing she has ever wore. I was expecting something quite different indeed!
OMG... the perfume bottle looks beautiful but the advertising face... damn.
The notes also sound good, I don't know why this perfume is limited edition because even without swarovskis I'm sure that only a few people would buy it.
Anyway the satin package is beautiful too... I would be really in love with this product if there was for example Marilyn Monroe's photo... but in this case... just horrible.
