Amouage introduces a new luxurious pair, Epic, by the House’s creative director Christopher Chong. This fragrant duo is inspired by the Puccini’s Turandot, and tried to embody the legend of the ancient Silk Road from China to Arabia. The female fragrance, Epic Woman, represents an endeavor run by strength and ambition, while the Epic Man is a compass on the Silk Road.
Richness of these fragrances evokes the goods that were objects of trade in Asia (gold, pearls, tea, silk, jade, spices and incense), mixed with the dramatic signature of the House.
The male fragrance Epic Man is an oriental woody one, offering you pink pepper, cardamom, saffron and nutmeg at the top. The heart pulses with essences of geranium and myrrh, while the base consists of precious Aoud, patchouli, leather and incense.
The perfumes are available as 50 and 100 ml EDP. Their bottles were designed to look like they’re made out of royal jade of the Orient, with some golden details to point out the richness of Arabia. The outer packages shines with sheer nude shades of pearl (female edition) and rustic color of brown (male edition), that reminds of ancient China leather suitcases. The nose behind these fragrances is Randa Hammami. Amouage Epic Man was launched in 2009.

This one really is something special people!!
This lasts around 18 - 20 hours on my skin, sometimes even longer. Outstanding Fall/Winter scent, one of the best IMO. Dry down reminds me somewhat of Nasomatto Black Afgano, which in its own right is an amazing fragrance. Amouage Epic is exactly that, EPIC!!
I have worked my way through 4 or 5 samples of this, really need to invest in a bottle a.s.a.p.
Highly recommended
Another great creation by Amouage, I am great lover of Epic woman, and I am so sad I delayed trying epic man. Now I have both. And love them both.
It is unbelievable how great the longevity of the perfume is....the summer months in Cyprus are very hot and there is no way to wear most of the Amouage perfumes so the last 2-3 months, i was using some other citrus/ginger perfumes from other mainstream and niche houses. Now the temperature has dropped a bit and you can wear Epic during the night. Yesterday I was in a party in a beach hotel. After having my shower around 19:00, I put 5 sprays of Epic, one at each pulse point near the wrists, one spray behind my ears and one at the base of the neck....now is 9:30, next day and the perfume still smells fantastic. You get this sharp woody soapy smell that is so natural. Do not get me wrong, the perfume is not soapy. you only get a hint of cleanness but what dominates the whole story is the Aoud wood or agarwood or Oud as it is said. I see that this perfume has some similarities with M7 by ysl but at the same time, a lot of differences. M7 has agarwood also in its ingredients but is much more sweet than the Epic. The one cant replace the other and we are talking for two different perfumes, if you like agarwood try both. I see that the smell of Epic especially at the basenotes, which lasts for hours and hours, comes from the the two main ingredients, agarwood as mentioned before and incense. Those two ingredients give this perfume an unmistakable personality that smells class for a mile away. The price of course is very high, like all Amouage perfumes but for the lovers of the subject, this worths a try. It is not for the ordinary man, for the clerk, for the cleaner although the class of a persons is something that can't be obtained or purchased. You are born with it. This perfume for a class well dressed man, will enhance everything.
What I realized having studied all Amouage perfumes, I saw that are not so welcome in Europe and especially in hot countries. The crowd generally prefers the eastern perfumes, niche or mainstream ones but if you are purchasing a niche perfume like this, you will not expect all around you to like it and understand it. What I experienced is that you friends, you wife, your colleagues in the office have to get used to a perfume like this to like it.
From the whole Amouage range, my personal opinion is that Epic, Memoir, Jubilation and Lyric are the best for a man who wants a niche perfume. Epic and Memoir goes more or less in the same direction although they are not similar perfumes. Memoir is a more woody/leathery perfume, Epic is woody spicy.
The last but not least, is the Lyric. Lyric is the most fantastic Rose perfume for a man but a bit feminine, soapy and slightly powdery....actually more feminine than masculine but it doesn't matter. It goes in the opposite direction of the other two, Epic and Memoir. Jubilation is something in the middle in terms of feminine or masculine.
Epic opens with an explosion of exotic spices (especially cardamom and saffron)combined with the characteristic aroma of Aoud. An almost medicinal aroma, resembling the original M7.
An opulent and indeed puzzling opening, especially by the presence of a mild citrus chord, probably due to the berries essence . Over time, frankincense appears then giving the fragrance, a greater depth and higher density. Anyway, another work of art from Amouage.
It is very similar to M7 fresh by YSL, although it has more luxurious feeling to it. If you like agarwood and cant afford Epic man, the M7 fresh is a good alternative.
THE SPIRIT OF GREATNESS ...
Opens sweet light oud blended in sweet sharp saffron & cardamom with a hint of leather .
a love story never end ...
Original mix according to Amouage :
Top notes: pink pepper berry essence, frankincense, cumin, cardamom essence, saffron, mace essence, nutmeg, myrtle essence.
Heart notes: geranium essence, myrrh essence.
Base notes: Oud, Sandalwood, patchouli, leather, frankincense, cedarwood, musk, castoreum.
Sultans' fragrance!
If you wanna shut down all the perfumes, scent radiantly in a high class night party, wear this phenomenon!
This marvelous masterpiece starts out immensely smoky and powdery in a cold and freshening chilly mood. This is what I haven't expected from an Arabian perfumery.
This perfume is something perfectly well-blended which notes are hidden behind an integrated pattern.
Even in dry down it shines radiantly; too stubborn to lose power.
It's extremely imperial in a young and chic mood reject all negativenesses, so divine and neat.
It's not sexy but more than a sexy perfume it attracts and charms, something honorable. I bet if you haven't smelt it yet, you follow its jaw drawing sillage.
I can smell it from 2 meters and it's in dry down.
I can't justify the price for this one. It smells dense with lots of incense and spices, but it's not really unique. There's a huge synthetic woody amber note, too. Not worth the price at all in my opinion.
Fantastic perfume. Spice, lot of spice, incence and agarwood. I bought my first bottle for eur 215 and before opening it, i throught it in rhe ground and the glass was broken. Disaster! I bought another one on the same day and finally a bottle of 100ml cost me 430 euro....but it is a fantastic smell....Amouage are the best perfume for me. Strange perfumes but very luxury. Try this, jubilation, reflection, memoir, opus I and lyric/gold if you prefer a more femine scent
Oh wow. I just sprayed this from a sample vial. It is incredible. Very full, rich, but with just enough of an edge to be truly "epic."
I get some very fresh notes mixed with the spices on top in the opening, but perfectly layered and balanced over a heady base. Some florals round out the experience. There is an edge here too, which gives the whole thing quite a masculine overtone. That is probably the oud in the base. It's just enough oud too. Never gets too medicinal. The incense, also, is never overpowering.
Some of the edge fades away as Epic develops. But this simply gives way to very smooth classy drydown that remains just spicy enough to keep things interesting.
Jubilation XXV used to be my favorite. Epic has displaced it. Though later on I'll try out my sample of Lyric and see how that goes. Amouage . . . wow.
EDIT: Actually, I think I like Epic and Jubilation XXV both the same; depends on my mood. I will say that Epic is more of an attention-getter. Jubilation is softer and more reserved, like a calm surface with a roil of passion underneath.
Epic Man perfectly fits the Idea I have about Amouage. It's opulent and quite loud but at the same time it's straordinarely crafted to never cross the edge of vulgarity. The opening is simply fantastic with tones of spices(expecially pink pepper) and a very sharp citrus surrounded by nutmeg (I totally get it), IMO is one of the best male fragrance opening in the past 5 years or so. It brings to my mind of the same feelings I had the first time I smelled Azzaro Pour Homme, I totally got hooked. Although both Epic Man and Azarro are part of the same family (spicy fougère) they really differ in the drydown where the first one pushes on the accelerator by introducing the Amouage hallmarks: Frankincense and Oudh. At this point everything start to get drier and darker for hours as Epic Man is quite a potent scent leaden by smoky woods and a slightly medicinal vibe that's characteristic of many western ouds. This is definitely one of my favourites from Amouage.
One more consideration: If I have to be honest the point with Amouage is still the same. They make outstanding fragrances but most of the time they're kinda "distant" from reality. The point is "where / when to wear them?" I do really appreciate fragrances like Ciel or Lyric but don't feel comfortable in wearing them and even if I personally feel comfortable with Epic Man it's still no everydays fragrance at all. On a "once in a while" rotational roster even if a totally love it.

Quick thought - this one call up associations with Egipt. It's distinct, it's stink but also has sth narcotic in it. I want to smell like this? - No! I want to bring my memories of great holiday in Egipt - Yes!.
At first there’s a strong, sharp mix of spices, lavender, vetiver, and sandalwood. The culinary spices include nutmeg, cardamom and maybe a few others. The herbal, linalool-heavy lavender or myrtle note fades away after just a few minutes and the sandalwood takes over, dominating the sillage for quite a while. It’s sandalwood tempered with cedar, myrrh, and nutmeg, narrowly avoiding the sandalwood soap genre. There may be a little oud and castoreum in the background, but the clean sandalwood is what really defines the scent for me.
After 4 hours or so the sandalwood recedes to reveal some softer, sweeter notes of incense and a slight hint of patchouli. The last phase, which persists for at least 6-8 hours, is a sharp, powdery musk that has amazing staying power, remaining on clothing until it is washed. Sillage is strong, but not overpowering.
To me, Epic Man is primarily a sandalwood scent that turns into a powdery musk scent, so it goes without saying that I like it. There so many other notes that the sandalwood never runs the risk of being linear, and there’s an interesting evolution throughout. If someone gave me a bottle of this and I didn't have a million things to test, I would be happy to wear it on a regular basis.
Really dislike this one (though i love everything else from Amouage) as it is too strong and it makes me sneeze.
Seems to be the pink pepper and it is just too overpoweringly sharp like a razor blade.
Gives me headache!
Amouage Epic Man is incredibly long lasting. Rich, deep, heavy. It may be unisex,I can imagine women who could wear it, but on me it's too heavy. Still, I am fascinated with its depth and spiciness.
It's strong, characteristic fragrance. Not a typical incense scent (like gucci I or shanaan). This one is bathe in spices. For me it's like to make oriental marketplace (all those spices) in old catholic cathedral ( note of incense and leather).
Perfumes from amouage are expensive but they are made from valuable, long lasting components.
Epic man, not a cheap smell at all, long lasting, oriental woody, that's for sure, it gives you the feeling of marble ( i dunno why) the dry down is leathery sweet (i think it because the patchouli and leather in the base), however, does it worth the price you going to pay? frankly.. I don't see the value for money to spent $250 on it. good scent of Amouage collection but nothing unique about it
This is a fantastic scent from Amouage. -Strong, masculine, and powerful. If you like scents like Gucci pour homme and Nasomatto Duro, you will love Epic. Not for casual use, and kids! It smells very luxurious, as most of the stuff from this house. A great incense scent with very good sillage and longevity. 2 sprays max, and you are ready for action. Highly recommended!
Evoking memories of the ancient Silk
Road journey from China to Arabia this
woody oriental fragrance is inspired by a range of spices layered with oud, musk, leather and frankincense.
The initial scent comes off as to strong and destroyed my senses. I hated the pink pepper and and saffron. I am note a fan of Amouage scents, the ingredients are world class, if you like incense dominated scents. NOT FOR ME THOUGH. If you like incense scents this might be worth trying. 2/10 rated
Epic Man starts with a burst of nice woody scent and soon it becomes a sensual and comfortable oriental woody, I can smell the nugmet quite well, and it is like a reminiscent of Shalimar by Guerlain, but minus the sweet vanilla part. Somehow I think Epic Man can pair up with Shalimar well at this point.
The overall woody feeling is cool and natural with a touch of myrrh.
The dry down is really close to the skin, and comfortable. The patchouli, incense and leather combo actually smells subtal and kinda like real sandalwood furniture. I normally hate leather in both man and woman's perfume, but in Epic Man, I can't detect any unpleasant leather.
Epic Man is so different from the commercial mass produced man's fragrance you can find from the department stores.
It reminds me of acient Chinese pavilions, corridors along the rivers in the Yangtze River Delta area. I guess it is the epic that Epic Man has brought to me so far, maybe it gives different people different but found memories.
Even though it is a 'men's fragrance', I think it can also be worn by a woman. (On me, it is sweeter and less masculine.)
Worth trying!
