I passed on this frag at Marshalls, not knowing it had been discontinued. Also it was in the womens section...
I have a soft spot in my heart for discontinued fragrances due to the fact I gave away D & G By for men (!!) when I got D&G ph and regret it to this day now that it is 199.00 USD on eBay...
Todays bargain bin perfumes can become the classics of tomorrow, better safe than sorry. If one or both of the two bottles are there when I go back they are mine. I HAD purchased By ph for 20 bucks in 2004...lesson learned!
EDIT: (July 2, 2010) Well I must be blessed, when I went back today they were both there and this is destined to be a CLASSIC! Despite its obscure origins and the somewhat universal use of all its notes, this fragrance is unlike any I own and I would have thought it was an aromatic fougere, but what do I know? This is fresh, dry, green and sweet with an almost juicy under tone. It has excellent sillage and super longevity. It's what you'd call a sleeper...if you like a quality manly EDT that's not what everyone else is wearing check this out. After paying for it I cut off the cellophane and sprayed it in the box and the salesgirl said "WOW! that's awesome". What else do you need? And the best part was, it was only 7.99 USD...4.75/5 and it may grow on me!
This perfume got me at a first side, just from the bottle. I don’t know why the chain, but I liked!
About the fragrance, well…it starts out a little bit dry and I can identify something that reminds me tobacco. But it’s the old story: it doesn’t exist this notes on its composition, so…it must be the result of other notes, maybe the nutmeg blended with the cardamom. But this is not bad, on the contrary!
I would say that starts between Aficionado, by Cigar and Declaration, by Cartier. Rapidly, it evolves into a calm and fresh scent, a “close to skin” musk, a smell that reminds me “laundry”.
The lasting it’s not bad, even though it doesn’t exhale the way I like. It still there after 6 hours, okay…but for those (like me) who like to leave a trace everytime they pass through a place, it is necessary to reapply it after 4 hours in order to catch others attention.
I give 6 from 10 stars!
Yes, I agree with Minister Smellgood. Under the radar, and sadly underrated. The opening spritz is quite "Animale," somewhat of a roar in the beginning... but Chaleur has a soft side. Behind the sage and musk, is amber and coriander that makes this fragrance somewhat of a friendly giant.
this is another sleeper for sure because this fragrance house doesnt get any respect,so itll take armani,ck,or versace to steal these components to make it blow up
