Oddly, I prefer this on my wrists and not on my bosom. There is a 'cardboard' vibe going on here that when mixed with the fibers of your shirt turns dull and lifeless. But on bare skin I get a tart fruit note, and when left to air becomes quite nice.
I like to put tihs on my wrist before going to bed at night. I sleep on my side with my hand tucked under my cheek, and slip away into pleasant dreams.
For daytime I would wear this during the summer, as its fresh without being too heavy. teh citrus and fruit vibes here are just lovely.
Bleah .. If you have a cough may 'be fine, but for normal use is really sickening. Perhaps to distinguish it from many other fragrances in this category there was an annoying add mint, or maybe to do with men like it too. Brrrr
To be an Annick Goutal this is a disappointment. Lasting power is non existent as well as originality and composition. I find it like many other much less expensive scents you can find in supermarkets with nothing special in it. It smells like a shampoo with fruits among its components (there are galore). I would not think of a woman in particular with a scent like this, I cannot define the clientele it's aiming to.
I have to say I was disappointed by Quel amour. At first it seems a lighter version of diorissimo (great classic). But this beautiful sensation disappeared after a little (too little) time. A pity because the following fruity part wasn't very interesting. But even this didn't last. Longevity of Goutal is nothing on my skin.
I dosed myself with this fragrance an hour ago. It is now gone. Shame, because it was growing on me during that 30 minutes.
Minty, toothpaste rose at first, minty is strong. Then falls into a playful, yet classic, warm, garden floral. Mint stays on top..and is distracting. At first the mint is really too much..but tones down fairly quickly, yet still remains prominent to me. Romantic rose floral with a playful and green touch. I would really describe the mint also as a menthol smell, almost like a medicinal topical for the skin. The mint adds freshness..but kind of wish there wasn't so much of it. If the mint was toned down..I could focus more on the garden floral which I am more attracted to. If I am in a classic floral mood, I would wear this...only if I don't mind being distracted by that mint note.
Quel Amour is my first butterfly bottle of Annick Goutal fragrances. Though it costs me an arm and a leg, it’s worth every penny of it.
It starts playfully, the blueberry, red currant and pomegranate are so well-blended and never be too tart or sheer. As the fruits melting, the flower is evoked, the peony smells watery, soapy and slightly powdery, which is the part that I like best. Later time the amber comes, set off all the lovely fruit and flower chords, and binds the perfume to a forever tasty theme.
As reflected in its naming, Quel Amour is like a romantic fantasia, which interprets every emotion that a girl has when she is falling in love. I love it very much! I think my signature scent is now finally found. The butterfly bottle is absolutely the cutest one in my collection, I will cherish it a lot.
At last, about the EDT and EDP I’ve got something to say: I’d tested an EDT sample before buying the butterfly bottle of EDP. I had the concern that EDP might be too strong for me, but it’s proved that actually it’s very wearable, just a little bit intense. To be clear, by my unprofessional nose, there is no difference in formula between EDT and EDP, just the intensity.
My favorite of all the AG fragrances that i've tried hands down. It smells just like red berries and heavy roses it smells heavenly I love it!
So I was exploring Annick Goutal fragrances and came by this one as a tester...I gave it a shot. I mainly detect the peach and possibly red currant, though it's a little orange blossom-y too. It might be in the floral family, but it gives off such a sweet, juicy nectar! Pretty delicious, if a little cloying (a little goes a long way for me). I think of hot summer days, going out for brunch or a garden party.
Anyway, the funny part of this is, my husband loved it. Like freaked-out-and-attacked-me loved it. I have to share that only because in the 10 years I've known him, he has never once particularly liked any perfume I've ever had (I always go for more of the spicy warm fragrances, while he is strictly a fruit or citrus afficionado). But he couldn't stop smelling it! Within a week he bought me a large decanter of it, and now wants to smell every tester I bring home. It's becoming as much a hobby for him as it is for me.
So thanks, Annick...this might not be my favorite fragrance, but the reaction I get from it keeps it front and center on my vanity. ;-)
Tangerine ,peonies, rose and something metallic.I enjoy it sometimes but not for everyday. My husband hates it.
This scent is very good for winter, warm, intensive flower-spicy. Not a usual one. I like it for very long lasting power.
Im so dissapointed! The clarity and quality is here, i just honestly dislike the composition of notes. Which is funny, because i like all of its composite notes individually. Qel amore plays a beautiful hide and seek game, i can barely smell it on my skin, but will smell a lovely rose/geranium scent wafting around me. The rose note is a very beautiful one indeed, but i get none of the fruity tones. None. I think its just a matter of chemistry/preference here. This is a lovely fragrance, but goes musty and dusty on my skin. Im far too young to smell like a senior citizen. I feel like ive smelled this on a hundred older women. Good scent, just not one i would purchase for myself.
Quel Amour! is an interesting experience. The cherry and peach are quite prominent however they present in a powdery manner not unlike compressed sherbet lollipops that crumble and fizz in your mouth. In fact, that is exactly what this reminds me of.
I quite enjoy the subsequent rose-geranium combination. It has a residual sherbert/piquant quality to it that elevates it above the norm and it also introduces a greener element to it to add to the realism.
As usual Annick Goutal does a nice rose and I appreciate the originality that has come into play here. The EDP is quite strong so apply with a light hand.
Very fruity, with a disturbing, powdery sweetness to it. I agree to the compot-like impression, but this is an oversugared compot to my nose. It smells simplistic and unexciting and certainly does not justify the price tag that goes along with it. The bottle too looks much better in pictures than in reality. An expensive scent in a cheap-looking bottle, cheap smelling, average and wayyy overdone on the sweetness. Brings about almost the same throw-up reaction as Mugler's Womanity.
Firmly opposed to the three-strike rule, and in flagrant defiance of induction, I decided to take up another Annick Goutal this morning: QUEL AMOUR! [sic] What a relief, I've finally found an AG creation that I actually like. True, it doesn't attain the status of love, and even less exclamative love, but this is a serious like.
QUEL AMOUR! opens with a dark compote-like red fruitiness which quickly subsides, essentially becoming a big rose geranium perfume for most of its life. This composition bears resemblance to the EO ROSE GERANIUM CITRUS bath and body products line, as the fruitiness is never very sweet, but complements the rose geranium quite well. The peony is drowned out by the rose geranium, but that's just fine with me, since I greatly prefer the latter to the former note.
QUEL AMOUR! has excellent longevity and medium sillage, but I like it so much, I keep sniffin' my wrist! Recommended for floral lovers.
Smells like it has Rose - Vanille notes, olthough they are not listed.
Tender, soapy with a little sweetness. Very pleasant scent. Anyhow I'm not a fan of Goutal's fragrances. Will see...
I could have sworn this contained bulgarian rose! I have been looking for a nice rose scent for quite a while, and this here is a beautiful, velvety, live rose!
Do not be fooled by the fruity top notes- it still is a floral. The cherry in the top notes adds a nice fizzy feeling, making the scent youthful as opposed to those cloying, rosy "grandma" scents. The mint note blends nicely and doesn't really stand out (fortunately). It makes the drydown a bit sharp, so it's not all powder.
A very girly, happy, pink fragrance with a bit of class!
this is the first perfume from Annick Goutal that I'm trying(thanks to dear Anne) and what a love!
I absolutely agree with Elumina.it smells much more floral than fruity.peach?pomegranate?cherry?all I get is flowers.it's very rich and powdery.it smells somehow classic, but it doesn't follow the classic formulation in which they add more than 10 notes.
I think it's very comfortable for spring.the rose is very dominant at all stages.if you like powdery flower scents it's very easy to wear for you.it's such a simple perfume for classic lovers.
I was so relieved when I read here that Quel Amour had a note of mint. I spent many hours trying to determine whether or not my nose had become incredibly confused.
Strangely enough, I sensed the mint when I first applied Quel Amour to my skin. It was almost like a breath of toothpaste wafting up to my nose. Although to many that description may be unpleasant, to me it was different and somewhat appealing.
The scent began with its minty freshness, before developing into a rich, romantic and classic floral. Peony and rose are very prominent notes in this fragrance. The scent reminded me of beautiful, old-fashioned trinket shops where the smell of pure rose oil used to fill the store.
Like most Annick Goutal fragrances, Quel Amour has such a charming presence. In my opinion however, you won't like this fragrance if you don't like her previous scents. Quel Amour is more of an old-fashioned, classic, early 1900's inspired fragrance rather than being a modern scent.
The fruity notes in Quel Amour aren't all that strong, although they are present. The peach is hidden in there somewhere however it has been overshadowed by the peony and rose.
Quel Amour is your quintessential, rose scented Spring/Fall scent. Thinking of possible similarities, Stella by Stella McCartney comes to mind, however Quel Amour is much lighter and not as modern.
This fragrance contains all natural oils and ingredients so you are guaranteed no artificial surprises. The scent is actually really long-lasting on my skin, and that is just for the EDT.
Quel Amour! is more different as i've expected at first, it is much more "flowery" than "fruity", despite all the fruits in the top note. The only fruit i get here is the tart scent of Pomegranate, mixed with a bouqet of light flowers. Its really fresh, thus absolutely refreshing and because of this easiness, its very good for spring or summer. The most Annick Goutal fragrances have this 'cute-touch' and i also found it in this perfume, but its just not that dominat here. Im also not sure if the name "quel amour" fits so well to this perfume, because i except something more sensual, when i hear such a name. Anyway a good spring perfume in my opinion, easy to wear and long lasting too. I guess, fans of floral-perfumes would like it, its nothing unique, but not synthetic or cheap at all.
I always like this above all the AG fragrances, but not all the time. It's a pretty feminine scent, great for summer nights out. Crisp, bright, fresh and floraly hints of tropical fruits. Not bitter not sweet, I always feel sparkly youthful and sophisticated when I wear this. It lifts the spirits. As with all the AG I have owned I never love them enough for all day every day, but this one definitely outshines the others for me. Similar to Petit Cherie, but not as sharp, and slightly more mature.
Yes, Quel Amor, I love it! This was a medium strength scent on me, and it persisted for about three hours. The peony and rose were paramount, but the whole thing reminded me of a beautiful fruity floral tea. Slightly powdery at the drydown, but very natural smelling - a very pleasant, almost green fragrance. I prefer this one to the only other Goutal fragrance I have tried, Petite Cherie. PC was interesting - grassy and natural, but far too light a floral scent for me.
Invigorating, Unique, and Fascinating! This is a wonderful Floral-full of fruit. I do believe this perfume maintains itś Floral category because it seems as if the perfume presents the flowers of each fruit - if this were possible ! There is also a very green feeling to the blossoms-as if the fresh earthy leaves are inside the falcon too! The pomegranate keeps its tangy and seductive scent, there is "no added sugar" in the just picked peaches; and these two notes combined with cherry-gives a pure and strong natural vibe. The peony is not overbearing, the rose hips keep the scent continuing clean and transparent - with an added idea of herbal tea; and the burbon gardenia also keeps the perfume free and clear of sticky sweet notions ! There may be some white musk in the drydown, however the drydown stays only a whisper of the whole perfume. This is a distinct, sohisticated, well crafted perfume- an excellent gift for a friend, colleage, family member - or perfumista !
First goes on as powdery rose and peach. Dries down with a slight tart floral maybe citrus like tangerine. Pretty and easily worn, but a bit powdery for my tastes.
just charming! I liked it, not 'amour' though, but this one smelled soft, warm and just some sweetness, very nice measure of it. An enjoyable scent for the winter I think, but don't think anyone would get tired of it all year round.
This is a very fruity, flowery creation which redefines the fruity genre in a totally new way. It works on a dynamic rose and fruit structure - and seems to be composed of natural ingredients only.... this is why it does not have the typical artificial smell of all the fruity scents on the market. The floral-fruity aspect is amplified through the inclusion of a small woody fact and the softness of musk to be felt in the drydown. I think it is a beautiful alternative to all the cheap and artificial fruit-salad scents on the market.
