Well...I've done it now!! On my quest to find the most wonderful, creamy, non citrus) vanilla, I have gone ahead and ordered this blind! Mainly from reading these glowing reviews! First of all, you can't find it anywhere! Went on most of the online shops, but they had most of the other fragrances, but not this one, but just managed to get it on the Amazon U.K., and it was the last bottle!! God, I hope it lives up to my expectations!! It is expensive, but sounds so lovely and vanilla perfect:)). I will write my review when I receive it, but for now, keeping fingers and everything else crossed:))

I first smelled it last week in Paris and I fell in love right away! I am a big fan of vanilla based fragrances, not too sweet or overwhelming vanilla, but elegant, ambery vanilla. AG Vanille Exquise is "the" elegant vanilla, in my opinion. The strong sandalwood base notes create a perfect balance with creamy almond notes, leaving a musky soft finishing scent. Definitely my next purchase, since I have to finish some other good bottles here before they go bad!

Absolutely loved it-after trying all of AG fragrances in the local shop, i have found this one -the most desirable. Warm, not overly sweet, stays close to skin and oh so elegant vanilla. I am not a fan of vanilla, but this one has brought a picture-cold day, northern europe, or maybe baltic seashore, windy and chilly, sea breethe can be felt in distance...warm coat, crispy cotton shirt underneath-nice quality real cold weather clothes...and this fragrance...warm room with nice food is waiting for me and my companion...cosy, settled and just a tiny bit nostalgic.

This scent is so lovely, it starts with a vanilla whith a dark and sexy shadow (almonds and angelica). And then it develops into a delicious warm vanilla to die for! This is the perfect daytime vanilla scent for me. It is soft and so adorable, i will wear it to work, at home, on weekend... everytime i can!
but for nighttime, i prefer stronger scents like my beloved hypnotic poison with its larger sillage and lasting power (old version).

If you can imagine a vanilla almondy scent which is not gourmand at all, that may be quite close to what Vanille Exquise smells. Vanilla is really intensive here and the almonds are so easily detectable too, nontheless it doesn´t smell sugary and you won´t feel like eating puddings while wearing it. Instead, there´s a smoky touch which makes it kind of retro and, on the whole, unique and easy to wear.
Vanille exquise is not as light as Petit cherie or Mandragore, you won´t have to spray it too much. It does have a good sillage and lasts quite long (about 6 hours on my skin, maybe more).
I sprayed Eau de Charlote over it as someone suggested me to do. The result was very nice.

I LOVE the first 2 minutes of this, it smells exactly like vanilla beans, not the gourmand sugary creamy smell, but the sensual and earthy if you like, sweetness.

But then, after the 2 minutes it turns really musky and just bitter. No sweetness whatsoever. Not that i'm complaining, i still like it, for the 40 minutes it lasts before it's completely gone.. but i'd really wished the initial notes would linger a bit with the almond and musk, now that might stop my Perfect vanilla scent quest.. oh, well.

My absolute favourite vanilla scent....a perfect mixture, a mature and sophisticated one, of vanilla and musk. I can't stop smelling myself and literally salivate when I wear this! The almond comes through, but not so strongly.....I'm not keen on strong almond scents. I'm on my third 100ml bottle now, and I'm sure it won't be my last. I can still smell this on me the next morning, and it still smells delicious!
On first application it smells strong and woody, but wait for the alcohol to evaporate...and what is left, on my skin, is supremely divine.
This is not a complicated vanilla fragrance....not too many notes...my search is over for MY perfect vanilla fragrance....though I'll always sniff other ones when the chance arises!

A beautiful vanilla, but on me it's absolutely fleeting. I can't smell it more than half an hour. what a pity! I only get the smell of a delicate vanilla - it's a very clean smell - I'd love to smell this way after a shower for instance. on me it's soft and a bit sweet, and really the only note I can detect is vanilla. it's a lovely skin vanilla though, not like a candle like some vanilla perfumes are.

To me, Vanille Exquise is the most beautiful Vanilla scent ever put out there that I found. Not too sweet, just fabulous, light but true.
- I only hope it isn't discontinued - I already have a difficult time finding it.

Very strange vanilla. It`s like the perfumer didn`t like the vanilla note and tried to compose a fragrance hiding the vanilla instead of centering the composition on it. You can smell a pretty, pudding vanilla at the opening, but them this poor vanilla suffer a car crash accident and it`s completely defaced. When they reconstruct it, what you get is a combination of amber, honey, benjoin, gaiacwood that sound noisy, like they have put a antiseptic or a vinegar combination of honey and woods. It`s also like the perfumer tried to compose a warm, vanilla fragrance but then decided to add something more woodier and ambery, but forgot to properly link the two parts.

When it comes to vanilla-based fragrances, I'm used to those overly sweetened, synthetic, foody vanillas. Vanille Exquise is different.

This fragrance smells like true vanilla essence, minus the sugar or the foody qualities. Vanille Exquise is not the edible kind. It is not a gourmand.

Honestly, I was disappointed at first. I wanted lots of sweet vanilla and nutty almond, something that smelt like rich, luxurious vanilla ice-cream. What I got was a rather dry, concentrated and syrupy vanilla, with subtle spices and a powdery drydown.

It took a while for me to appreciate this fragrance, but now that I have embraced it, I am starting to like it even more.

Vanille Exquise is a nice change. This is vanilla for grown-ups, those with a more mature palate that leave all those teen vanillas behind in a blurry haze.

This fragrance is very comforting, and surprisingly lasting. While it may not be a gourmand-lover's dream, for those that like natural, raw vanilla, this fragrance is a must-try.

I'm disappointed. I thought I would like this perfume, since I love vanilla scents, but I didn't. At first, it did smell like vanilla, but as it dried down it became very musky. It almost has a very old lady smell to it, lol, if that makes any sense.

After sampling a number of Annick Goutal scents, I've come to expect them to be on the light and fleeting side. Vanille Exquise is light, but one of the longer-lasting Goutals, actually sticking around for a few hours. It's a light and transparent sugary vanilla with some light musk and a strange bitter green note that reminds me of the dried leaves of some plant that I've smelled in the past, but can't recall what it was. It's a nice subtle scent, but not my favorite vanilla.

Soft and sensual, powdery vanilla scent. Sexy yet cosy at the same time.
I really enjoy it and vanilla is one of my most favourite notes in the fragrances.
Vanille Exquise is quite linear, just it becomes more powdery after about half an hour of wearing it. I rarely like 'powderiness' in perfumes but powdery vanilla was something unusual and surprisingly pleasant to my nose. At first I thought it was a bit similar to Kenzo 5.40 in Madagascar (which is a vanilla too) but after wearing VE for a couple of days I realised it is different, richer, more sensual. It last long (about 8 hours on my skin) but it is not overpowering or cloying. Actually it is not as sweet as usually vanilla is, which is probably because of the woodsy notes that go with it. This makes it a 'grown-up' vanilla.
I love the vintage bottle and decor, so beautiful <3

It seems to me this is a powerful vanilla, but not so much in a sweet way, more in the woody notes. I am not too sure I like this one... Couple of hours after spraying and even washing my hands, the scent is still strong, and very similar to the top notes. It appears like a very "woman", mature fragrance. Not for everyone, but I'm sure vanilla fans will love this one.

Got a decant of this based on the description as follows:
Vanille Exquise by Annick Goutal is a oriental vanilla fragrance for women launched in 2004. The fragrance features angelica, almond, vanilla, musk, sandalwood and guaiac wood. Another website added that it has a benzoin note too. Im a massive vanilla-head, so figured I must try this. I'm not diappointed although its not the best I've tried. From the outset it reminded me of SL Un Bois Vanille's lighter younger sister. I couldn't really stand UBV due to that burnt caramel/strong wood note that stung the inside of my nose. This has similar things going on but it is softer to me and the woods in here are not so burnt and offputting, and the almond and angelica (which reminds me of baby powder) are here in equal measure to temper all those strong wood notes. So ultimately I can wear this one and like it. I'm not sure whether i will buy a FB once my decant runs out...still to decide.

Vanille Exquise is really beautiful and feminine fragrance- although it really has, amongst vanilla, some detectable green note, but this is what makes it special, it's shaded with almond very smoothly. Dry-down is almond with vanilla.
This fragrance isn't very strong, but in right strenght for me.
I agree with F_A, It'll be lovely to wear it during winter especially when all around is snowing and you are at home in a living room drinking hot chocolate with vanilla sugar while in our heater roars fire, so comforting...

The lovely vanilla almond base of this scent is ruined on me by the overpowering sharp edge of the guaiac wood. This often happens to me with guaiac in fragrance and it just killed this scent on my skin. The lovely creamy vanilla is still there, but the piercing wood note never stops and really spoils any sensation of silk or comfort the other reviewers are finding. Try this before buying it full bottle.

Vanilla Exquise is a beautifully calm but effective scent. The vanilla isn’t too sweet, and the hints of woody and musky smells can be appreciated by everyone, including those who find vanilla fragrances too sweet and intense. This fragrance is very sophisticated, and creates a subtle vanilla and romantic scent all around me. I feel light, warm, and calm, when wearing this and it has a lasting woody-vanilla almond smell. It’s an elegant fragrance for vanilla, and Annick Goutal perfume lovers.

Excellent, fine, wonderful, beautiful , elegant, magic, erotic, very feminine - such determination come for my head , when I think about VE. It not edible wanilia and not simple. In this parfum is discreet note of precious guajac woood and bit noble musc. VE is soft, shining , easy like a silk. Now I'am wearing VE and issues me, that I bath in savoring, sweet milk - like Cleopatra ;)

This is definitely one of the best vanilla scents I've experienced...not too sweet, not too strong, with just the right amount of almond. Lasted five or six hours on my skin.

What a wonderful soft and spicy vanilla fragrance!Though lasting power is very good, the fragrance itself smells quite light, lingering around you, wrapping you in the lovely warm vanilla-almond scent. It is romantic, sweet but not too much, perfect for Christmas period. A must try for all vanilla lovers!
