will be my next purchase. I think its time for a man my age to wear this juice. And I do LOVE power frags..
the best rose scents created for men ever... a bit harsh at top but awesome finish , mesmerizing drydown.... beautiful despite its a male fragrance...
Aramis 900 Herbal is undoubtedly a classy men's cologne. When I first sprayed it on my skin the amazing aroma of Brazilian Rosewood with lemon and bergamot which gives it depth and a pleasant appeal. It dries back beautifully and it takes on more of a delicately mixed blend of jasmine and rose scent. I'm also able to pick the deep notes of amber, patchouli and sandalwood which gives it a fresh clean cologne with a slight floral blend but nothing that would resemble a feminine perfume.
I love that it's longevity is well past 8 hour's on my skin. Aramis 900 is most certainly an excellent choice as a evening cologne.
A lot enjoy this cologne because it brings back pleasant memories...as they as "the good old days". This cologne is a timeless MASTERPEICE. 10/10
it smells like old forgotten memories, opens like opening old treasures when years are passed on it,it feels like roots immersed for years.
soapy and drinking,didn't impress me
when i first sprayed it on, my family said that it smells like an old woman's soap...ie dove soap, the pink kind for ladies.
however, it is starting to warm up now about 2 hours later to a more mature scent.
Very classy, decent, old school exactly the way i admire classic fragrances. I love this fragrance. Its very reasonable in terms of price. Not for generic aquatic, fresh spicy type of crowd.
Update: For the new bottle - I don't think it's the same anymore. I suppose the next time around will be Aromatics Elixir but worn sparingly to get the same effect. Jason G 121312
Review for the previous style bottle:
For some reason I find myself comparing other frangrances with this as if it were a benchmark to judge by. I've had this since the mid '80s and still love it. It's not quiet and as the day goes it gets lighter in its linear kind of way (it lasts all day). Definitely herbal and rosey. I like florals and I like roses. I'm not sure if the current bottle has a reformulation in it since I still have the old style bottle. I think that when I've smelled this in public on a woman I thought it was A900 but I have a feeling it was AE instead. For some strange reason it reminds me of when I was young and it smelled like the inside of my aunt's jewelry box. Marvelous!! Jason G 042112
I have only tried vintage. The opening is very powerful but doesn't last long. What follows is dominated by a mild, dry rose note. This isn't sweet or heavy (unlike the opening), and the animalic quality is subtle. One could call this slightly powdery, but not in a "wet" or thick way (like several vintage men's fragrances are, such as Royal Copenhagen). The base notes listed are just the supporting cast, but the balance is excellent. There is sufficient dynamism and it doesn't have any "synthetic" qualities, as one would expect. I guess there is a touch of amber here because it's not bitter, but there is no discernible sweetness. Projection ("silage") is moderate, though I didn't apply much, and longevity seems at least very good. I have a vintage mini bottle (7 ml) that has never been used for swap, for those interested.
A friend gave me a bottle of this very familiar, EDT in 2006 after he said it turned to “cat pee” on him. It worked on me, thank goodness.
I enjoyed the clean, fresh, garden air, classic scent, bringing on memory rushes from times when the Aramis range seemed to be the top 5 men’s choice on every exclusive retail store here in ZA during the late eighties and nineties.
I found this beautiful scent superb for everyday use which made me feel as invigorated, clean, (inoffensively soapy,) and as confident as any business executive may be forgiven for feeling, while sporting this magic liquid.
It is however rather a generic scent “signature” as has been around for so long I guess it has mingled with so many other popular scents over time, thus lost its uniqueness.
You may easily be labeled by a lover of perfume as “un-original,” if you purchase this but if smelling amazing means more to you than opinion, then go for it. It is a safe purchase. You cannot go wrong, even if you buy it blind in my opinion.
My vote: 4.4/10
Aramis 900 .. Man in rose
Bernard Chant man you are thinking right , to me What he created in each one of Aramis line is a classic in bottle .
900 is one of the best classic floral out there opens sharp rose with herbal classic mix of Aramis charm .
the dry down is dry flowers and roses with a hint of Patchouli and classic animalic touch.
scent 9.9/10

Today I am wearing 2 of my favorite animalic woody chypres. On one arm I have the super castoreum loaded Antaeus, and on my other arm, I have a healthy spritz of the more moderately animalic, vintage Aramis 900, with its perfect amount of civet. Without a doubt, the Aramis is the more powerful scent, but not necessarily the better fragrance. It has a dominant rose and rosewood opening, with a fair amount of orris to give it a slightly powdery feel, and lets not forget the huge amount of oakmoss that gives this its luscious mossy base. The civet in 900 is never overpowering and I have never gotten anything that remotely reminded me of urine or urinal cake from this fragrance. This is old school chypre that many will recognize from the scents of their fathers and grandfathers. Long live the Aramis 900, and may the tradition continue.
Aramis 900 is a masterfully made fragrance and the best of the Aramis line in my opinion. This is old school masculinity and what a gentleman should wear.
A light and flowery EDT that I adore. It is very very floral or herbal sweet in a slightly masculine way but I love it, always have always will..For me the best of the Aramis range..9/10
I haven't smelled the reformulated version yet. The new bottle is also not as evocative as the old- not much fun. The original vintage bottle is a shrine to its serene, green secrets. The fragrance itself is indeed a masterpiece: cooling floral-chypre seamlessly overlaid upon woods. I wore it in the late 80's (it was vintage by then) on days spent wandering the woods, contemplating.
The best CHYPRE fragrance, a masterpiece. Very elegant and exalted... Brother of Aromatics Elixir (Clinique). My signature scent. 10/10
I have a mini bottle of this and I can feel that it's the male version of Aromatic Elixir. I don't like AE and I don't like this one either. They smell to much alike...dirty and dark. This one is a little lighter though.

I love Aramis and many of its masculine compositions from the past but I can only barely stand A900. Guess why? Rose galore to my nose and rose is my kryptonite. I get weak, harmless, laying on the floor ready for the final attack....and that's not good! If this was not enough, geranium (which I usually love when its not paired with rose) joins the party giving support to the "unmentionable" element in its battle against me.
Said that, the rest of the composition is a great floral-spicy chypre with a remarkable patchouli note. Distinctive, pleasantly old-fashioned (read classic) and undeservedly underrated.
Rating: 8/10 (if you like rose or if you're anosmic to it)
6/10 (for me)
Aramis 900 and Clinique’s Aromatics Elixir are very similar. In classic Estée Lauder fashion, there are effectively masculine and feminine versions of one fragrance, as is also the case with JHL/Cinnabar, Devin/Alliage, Aramis/Azuree. The funny thing is, by conventional perfume standards they’re mixed up with A900 and Aromatics Elixir. While both are floral/herbal chypres, AE is much stronger and potentially off-putting, yet is the version sold to women. A900, the one for the boys, is sweeter, more floral and less stark. Overall, A900 is lighter on patchouli, and has more rose than AE. It has a generally softer tone.
In Aramis 900, up top the bergomot is restrained in its bitterness by a soft lemon. Rosewood makes the rose seem sweet and liqueuer-like. The strong chamomile note, that reads as strictly bitter in AE’s opening notes, is replaced by an herbal quality in A900 that gives a bit of soapiness not found in AE. A900’s basenotes, which definitely include a healthy dose of patchouli (as in AE) are modulated by vetiver. Both scents end on a rose/patchouli accord, but the rose dominates in A900.
I used to think, why wear, A900? Cut to the chase and wear AE. And while I do wear AE more often, I’ve grown very fond of A900. It’s very pretty and has a bit more smile to it than AE.
I don’t usually think of EL as the company to turn gender norms upside-down, but in designating AE as the huge, take-it-or-leave-it bruiser, and A900 as the paler and quieter of the pair, Bernard Chant is giving us a functional instruction on gender in the Gemaine Cellier tradition: knock it out for the women and dilute it for the men. There’s a lesson here for us, boys.
This phenomenon is the thing I was looking for but couldn't find a satisfactory item; a masculine floral aldehyde musky odor. This is just a chypre one, classy and vintage.
I prefer to surprise noses by presenting something which can be feminine as well! The boldest characteristic of this perfume is its floral dry and powdery pattern; so retro and nostalgic. The very opening is immensely floral and gradually it lose it to a mellow level and then warm ans semi-sweet woody tone appears.
Lasts for looOOOooong time and spread massively.
I rate 10/10

This scent to me reeks of old school class like it's sister scent, Aromatics Elixir. It will always be eternally my favorite scent of all time.
I first smelled Aramis 900 in my childhood. My Father wore it back in the 70's and 80's with his dark suits. I remember liking it back then, and when I was post college I bought my first bottle. I've always considered it a Monday through Friday, 9 to 5 scent although in my fragrance wardrobe it also serves my casual side. It is eternally fresh and clean. I don't find it to be an old man's scent or outdated, and(but)I'm only 41.
I recently purchased the "Gentleman's Collection" release, and I'm enjoying it all over again. If it had been reformulated, my nose can't tell. The only difference for me is the bottle. I still LOVE it!
The scent is not a "flanker" of the original Aramis, and doesn't remind me of it. 900 opens with a clean, green, slightly sweet citrus. Florals take over soon, but the citrus remains throughout. The floral notes are well blended as no single note stands out. It's very crisp and clean, dry and herbal. There is a powdery, almost soapy woodiness to it that I love. I feel great when I wear it.
It lasts ten to twelve hours on my skin. In the warmer months it works for me. It doesn't become stale in the heat, but seems to come and go as if it refreshes itself. I like this quality about it.
If you have the chance try it. I highly recommend it.
A retro, herbal, floral fragrance. Very potent. I would say it's the most feminine of male scents. It's pleasant though and very long lasting
This is such a classic scent, that it smells like so many other classic scents, which should make it generic.
It smells just like Kouros to me.
If you like Kouros just decide which one's better value for projection.
I love this smell is the best smell in earth
To others, this may smell dated, but to perfume afficionados, this is a staple. Lighter and more flowery than Aramis, this scent is more herb-y than spice-y. The patchouli and the vetiver I can smell a long ways off.
Now, if I had to choose between Aramis 900 and Polo, I would definitely choose this hands down. If Polo reminds me of an aging gigolo, then Aramis 900 would remind me of an aging, but classier, gigolo.
I second what Behzad said in the comment below, if you're a fan of vintage perfumes as I am, this one is the very perfumes you may look for. Also it is near to Cartier Must or Santos (Sorry I don't remember which one).
And yes, it lasts for a loOOoong timeeeee....
Very powerful flowery opening that’s not common and pleasant for men these days!
But drydown is good; it comes to a bitter long lasting scent.
First thing that comes to mind is “Oh .. it’s really old fashion!”
It doesn't smell dated or formal to me. On a young guy wearing T-shirt and jeans, the slightly musky, slightly floral powderiness just makes him smell fresh and clean, as if he's had a shower using one of those oaty, organic handmade soaps.
Fabulous,unique and long lasting.
VERY similar to Aromatics by clinique.
Get hold of the old bottle if you can because I think it has been reformulated and now is not as strong.
I have bought many, many fragrances over the years but I still return to 900 and it still smells great on me.
Suitable ,I think, for the over 40's and better for autumn and winter.
Still smells good on your clothes for days afterwards
This is weird, i like how this scent smells on others also i love how it smells on paper but when i put it i have a headache and i just want to take it out. maybe it does not suit me.
I gave it to my uncle and it smells great on him...i dont know i am confused

An extremely classic and great fragrance by Aramis. It is my favourite among aramis perfumes. It has got a great kind of chypre/woody fragrance.
It is truly unique, dark and masculine fragrance. Only bad thing about is that it has become very common now a days.
Highly complimented for mature gentleman.
I give it 8.5 out of 10.
my father had a bottle of this perfume and I still remember the air changed every time he sprayed it on him.it was very sharp.a blend of woody notes with lemon and herbal notes.
Aramis the ancient name which inclines the narcissism matches this cologne more than any other one by the house.
it's insolent,proud,manly and cool.
it remembers me party time at the summer in the middle of a garden.
my father don't use it any more.the bottle is in a drawer while there are still a bit left.so when I get a chance I test a little of it on my hand to feel the coolness & prestige.
traditional,but not ordinary at all.
unfortunately it's rare in markets todays.
