Very uncommon, i would like to find it again in France.
I wear it in the 90 s(i m a man)and every body asked what it was.
Nonconformist but nevertheless liked by everybody.
I tried this when it first came out. I'm surprised to see how many notes went into this - it smelled like I had bathed in watermelon, and it stayed that way. I was relieved when I wasn't attacked by fruit flies, bees or hornets. Couldn't get it washed off fast enough.
New West for her is the best smelling scent. i used to wear it back in the 90s.it was given to me by Pete. and i got more complements on the watermelon smell from everyone i knew. even my grandma. i used to go to rock n roll clubs and every time id walk by someone would stop and ask me what i was wearing?i love this stuff still!!
It stinks. After reading all positive reviews, I bought a New West skinscent spray. I was looking for a unique perfume and my advanture cost me 45 bucks. It smells more like men's perfume nothig female.
My art teacher wore this when I was in school. It`s a fantastic summer fragrance, very unique- fruity but not girly. How would I describe it- it`s more a sophisticated fruity-floral scent.
I imagine myself taking a bottle of this one with me to my next holidays in the sun- to bond this to feelings of summer, sun and sea...
I do not know this perfume, only the description in notes! I read it being a typical pine like Aliage and Private Collection. Scherrer original also. In my opinion pine perfumes are not for beginners! I really laughed about the 'it stinks' qualification. My husband gave Aliage the impression of goat smell! HAHAHA!! Well, that stinks alright if you put it on your skin!!
Now I changed my mind about pine stinking. It does take some time to get used to however, so if you are going to wear pine in an environment that is not aristocratic, maybe the people will find you stinking. But when you are in an aristocratic setting you may be perceived as intellectual, strong own identity, classy. I still think Scherrer original succeeded the best in turning the stinking pine into excellent class!
Good luck!

we liked it ,it's nice pleasant easy to be around, for us we find this fragrance not being as much for wearing but spraying around the house, it smells like a girl with a pretty flower perfume that has been hugging a guy with aramis on and now his scent is on her dress lingering around at the bottom of the smell
Interestingly, Crabtree & Evelyn's "La Source" scent (not to be confused with their "La Source" line of hotel/hospitality products, some of which have the original "La Source" scent and some of which do not) smells uncannily like New West to me. C&E has a hand cream in that line which is really excellent and would probably be a winner if you like this fragrance.
the only decent watermelon based scent produced EVER!!!!!!
perfect for the Aussie Summer; BBQ, the beach and my mates.
Another high school memory provoker.
Gosh don't know what I was thinking with this one all those years ago. Blame it on my youth. It stinks!
A scent that combines the watermelon so well that it is one of the most distint scentsof all time! Definitely,Suitable for hot summer days & nights
I love this. It's fresh and fruity all at the same time. I can't wait to get a chance to wear this in the warm weather because I know it's going to be incredible. The compliments just keep coming when I waer this scent. I wish Estee Lauder would bring it back. Luckly you can still find it at some etailers. My favorite perfume of the 90s.
It was my teenager's era's perfume. My college friends always loves this scent on me. They complimented that this fragrance suits my character. Fresh, vibrant and colorful. I don't think it is still available these days in the department store, lucky I still have half bottle left. I have kept it untouched in my perfume wardrobe for 10 years I guess...and it still smells great as it was.
Es una pena que lo hayan descontinuado. Ha sido mi perfume de diario favorito por los ultimos 20 años. Levantar la voz para que lo vuelva a mercadear. Recien compro por internet 5 potes para tenerlos en reserva.
Que vuelva New West
new west is very floral and fruity the best note the acually pops out is watermelon very girly
Me also, this is one of my favorites in the nineties when i was sixteen...
it's like the beach wet air and the watermelon smell, it was very nice.
I would like to find one like this but very defined like watermelon and lasting...
This was one of my favorites in the early ninties...
New West was ahead of its time - one of the first fruity scents I had ever come across - and to me it was unique. Watermelon is what's listed in the notes, but on me it was melon...nice ripe honeydew melon. The melon came aboard early, took it's place in the front row, and stayed for the entire trip. That was what I liked about it.
My co-worker wears New West as her one and only scent. I had never paid it much attention before but it really is lovely and smells like no other. Much ado is made of the Calone's melon/oceanic notes in this one, and they are nice, but they would be nothing special if they weren't stacked on top of the lovely dry-down. Ocean and fruits meet mossy, herbally musk. This one is complex, and much more green than floral or oceanic. I think that's why it has held up better and seems less dated than many oceanic scents that were popular in the 1990's.
I agree with SandraS's comments about the persistence and sillage on this perfume. I get a lovely scented breeze each time my co-worker passes, all day long.
New West was difficult to find for awhile, but I've seen it being offered on more websites lately. Worth checking out if you like green scents or are looking for an alternative to the many sweet scents on the market.
I have this one for ever...it must be one of the first scents I ever bought. I was finnishing highschool and the very handsome sales assistante refer to this as one of the sexiest scents for a woman. I bought immediatly, big step for my small allowance, because I soo wanted to be regarded as a woman!
This is a clean summer smell, very strong top of bergamot and drydown od woodsy notes. Perfect for casual or office wear, has a good staying power and right syllage. I wouldn't say its sexy but is a fun smell, it reminds me of hot summer nights, kissing under a midnight sky...
ah, the early nineties..i was in high school, avidly reading books by Tom Robbins and Jack Kerouac in my free time, and listening to Pearl Jam albums on my walkman, and my choice of fragrance was New West for her.
I took a sniff again, and was immediately transported to those years.
I sense something very aquatic in this fragrance, reminiscent of the ocean in
California perhaps, and lush greenery,
orange groves,gardens,and wild flowers.
I always imagine a blond woman in a convertible driving the highway, listening to Muddy Waters of B.B King,
wearing levi's jeans and big sunglasses.
She is very clean cut and lightly tanned, and very charming.
Maybe it was the idea of beauty that I had at that time, and I would not use this perfume again, but it was nice sniffing it for old time's sake.
Now,where have I put my Pearl Jam albums?
