Azzaro Couture original (edp) is pure sensual sofistication in a bottle. This stunning gem has the most luxurious air. I feel like a million bucks wearing it. It has a grace similar to Coco Chanel, but I find it even more classy. Azzaro is richer, still it's more quiet about that. It's not a shouting fragrance as many from the 70's and 80's were, yet not weak.
This complex blend is difficult to bone down into individual notes. It has the most perfect balance between a high content of both floral and animalistic notes. This balance creates a very sensual fragrance. But instead of beeing in your face about that, these notes are firmly grounded with a touch of powdery iris and woods, which result is a classy sensual air.
The notes I have on my demonstration bottle says "Principaux Composants": rose, tuberose, gardenia, jacinthe, jasmin, ylang ylang, iris, vetiver, sandal, coriander, peche, ambre gris, musc, civette.
I think it also contains at least a few more chypre elements like oakmoss and patchouli. I'm unsure if Azzaro is correctly classified here as a woody chypre. It's rather a floral chypre in my opinion.
Azzaro is well worth buying if you find it. When you first spray on your skin it may come out a bit odd from the coriander. But just give it a few minutes to develope and...mmmmmmmmm… I think Azzaro is one of my best blind buys ever. Thanks Action for your short but powerful inspiration :).
Ps: Don't mix up this classic beauty with the reissue from 2008.
Update: Today I got the pure perfume. In three words: "La petite mort".
