A woody-oriental fragrance with fruity nuances that ‘separates the men from the boys’, is the third fragrance from Baldessarini. Charles Schumann, the face of the first two, once again lends his masculine and charming image to advertise this woody-oriental juice with whisky and oak-wood accents.
A distinctive note of whisky opens the composition harmonized with the notes mandarin orange and red apple. At its heart, the sharp leather note is blended with violet. Its amber-oriental character is sustained thanks to vanilla, oak moss and labdanum. It was created by the Firmenich perfumer team in 2007.

Come on lets get real please, if you like l instant, a men and flanquers, or dior homme. You will hate this cheap smelling juice!, please take no ofence but i am a collector and not keeping this...no way, i bought this blindly because of the reviews here and on youtube, but now that i smell more than once to give it a second chance, im pretty sure it is unwearable for me, both times i tested in my skin i had to wash it off.
This fragrance has a sort of weird synthetic vibe to me, although I don't think it is as horrible as I thought when I first smelled it. The violet is every bit as noticeable as the apple and when mixed with the synthetic leather, makes for a very odd accord. I definitely can detect what Alfarom calls an "oxidized effect", and there is a tiny bit of powderiness to this as well. The amber is not as prominent as many seem to think, and the type of woodiness doesn't blend very well with the heart. All in all, I find this to be a very odd fragrance, and though slightly offputting, it also provides some interest because it is so weird. The same idea as CdG, just not as appealing. A smoky violet apple leather...ok, but no.
This stuff is like a best kept secret. It smells too good the opening of apple whiskey ahh its too good. And the crazy part is that this stuff is cheap i guess i didnt do very well with sales when it was in department stores
One of the best fragrances I have ever used. It is sophisticated.
I could bathe in it....thats how much I like this one. Its something of a head turner.
Very nice scent, a little pungent and sharp when you just apply it, but after 20 minutes it settles down to a more subtle sweet and fruity amber scent.
Definatly not an old mans smell, i don't really get it why some say it is, it might have something to do with the advertising i guess.
It's fresh but not in a citrus way, wich is a good thing for me personally :) it's fresh and warm at the same time.
Just bought this for my son-in-law's Xmas present....but had to sneak a sniff. Got a nice smooth bourbon with lots of caramel! That rides on a quiet but solid foundation of amber. A nice leather with just a hint of violet. And fairly early in the dry down a tobacco note that I find very charming. Reminds me of my grandfather.
I know its supposed to "separate the men from the boys", but it also wears well on a strong grandmother! Damn. Now I have to go out and get something else for him!
Merry Yule ya'll!!
simple, yet intriguing. Excellent cologne for a strong man.
Healing stuff for your nose, because there are a lot of ugly, sharp fragrances out there. Typical and strong distinctive masculine scent, lovely, sweet, charming. Lot of amber and little bit of vanilla in it. Smells damn expensive and good. Please guys, wear this!

Home for good.
I dont find this a very old gentlemen cologne. Its very manly, can be worn by 20 and up crowd. Its very sweet, creamy, spicy and strong. The whiskey note stays in the top but them dies down. It smells like apples and cinnamon with a hint of tabbaco. Very sweet, perhaps a lil too sweet for my taste. The boozyness is very strong. Im not sure about buying it, i mean the price is fantastic!!! 33$ the 3.4onz bottle. i love the smell but it gets kinda cloying. Still trying to make up my mind.
Longevity is amazing! so is projection C:
The original bottle sizes for this fragrance are 50 and 89 ml, which cost around 30 to 40 dollars.
It is a winter and fall type of fragrance. To me it is fruity, sweet and leathery with a little bit of incense (I don’t know where it comes from). It is not a high quality perfume, but you get more than what you’ve paid for. I can smell apple, violet, leather, vanilla and amber from the top to the end. Right off the bat apple and mandarin are the stars. Then vanilla and violet take the place, while you can see leather, Labdanum and amber coming behind. It dries down to a sweet woody scent. The longevity is good. I get 6 to 8 hours from it. The projection is also decent. Overall, I think it worth the money. But I should say it’s an ordinary fragrance, nothing more. Definitely try it before buying.

Sweet ,creamy- caramel like scent from this one .It smells like a bourbon whiskey . I prefer the baldessarini original to this one though as sweet carmel creamy is not what I want to smell like . I think this one would be better suited to my grandad
So, today I am wearing this cologne for the 3rd time and I noticed that I haven’t done a review until now. So, here it comes!
To start it’s important to say that this is an oriental one. It is sweet, creamy. This matters to me, because it is my style!
Then, I would like to say that the text above is right: “separates the men from the boys”.
The scent opens strong and harsh, giving a kind of “burning sensation” in the nostrils in the opening notes, because of the whisky and orange notes.
In the evolution I didn’t feel the heart notes as important part of it. I didn’t think that the leather note is too evident as it is in colognes whose notes are in the base.
The awesome part of this cologne is the base and what it lets on the skin as a gift: a “creamy mix” of vanilla + labdanum, well blended by the amber.
YES, this scent is “creamy”, as the others made with vanilla.
To make comparisons, I found lots of names: Ambré Sultan, Dirty English, Tom Ford, etc. I don’t have any of them, even though I have felt Ambré Sultan once.
Inside my range of personal colognes I could find nuances of Arpége.
It has a looooong duration. I keep smelling my arms, breathing and inspiring the air that grows with the breath and I must admit that is wonderful.
10 stars!
Generic. An average (leaning to the low quality) amber fragrance of little interest. The apple note emphasizes the metallic aspect of the main ingredient adding a sort of "oxdized effect" that's firmly unpleasant to my nose. The whole composition is surrounded by the typical Hugo Boss generic and synthetic signature (Boss Bottled anyone?). Meh!
Rating: 3.5-4/10
I like this one.> great value for the price. IT smells a lot like boss bottled to me. Its got that warm apple pie feel to it. It is like a more mature version of Boss 6. Very nice. Btw... why isn't whiskey included in the notes.. I hate sometimes how they post weird notes on these type of sites that don't always match the fragrance.

I love this - I won it in a competition. As I love quirky perfume, I was wearing it for some time until I looked on their website and realised it was actually for men. As I have a huge amount of perfumes, I gave it to my husband - but still have a sneaky spray here and there. There is something in it that's just a bit too strong for me, it's either the amber or the woodiness, I can't decide which - but I love the smooth vanillary notes on dry-down - they become smoother as the day wears on and are present for hours.
Definitely unisex, but men can go a bit heavier with it than I can. Love it!
Not sure how this fragrance got its name - it smells nothing like any real amber fragrance I own, and I own a few. Something about the opening and the whiskey makes me feel a bit nauseous - it's rather artificial in its approach. Smells more like a John Varvatos scent or something similar to Corduroy by Zirh - it has a very commercial vibe going on with it.
Just my opinion, but when I want a true amber-based scent, I'll turn to MPG's Ambre Precieux, Serge Lutens' Ambre Sultan, Montale's Blue Amber or L'Eau d'Ambre by L'Artisan Parfumeur.
i tested the other day at the shop and i likkkkkkkkkked it
gonna buy it 4 sure it's amaaaazin' perfume
Hehehe I applied this one once and went on a job interview the guy asked me what I was wearing, sumthin came over me and I said "some good shit..." I mean really, I said that, he just looked at me and smiled, this is the killer on company parties... its musculine in every form, " REALLY separates the men from the BOYS/KIDS" and me bein a big scotch fan, the whiskey note really gets me goin and makes me feel like a thousand bucks lol...
Good stuff if U ask me, sillage is good but the longevity could be alittle bit better
PS. By the way I got the job. lol
Perfectly reminiscent of Tom Ford, but a mixtue of Amber Absolut and Tuscan Leather.
It had that deep, dirty musk of an old, worn leather overcoat and the husky, smoky thickness of Amber Absolut, without the sticky resin.
A very well blended fragrance IMO, but one for the gentlemen.
I like the way it starts. It shocks me at first! The first time I smelt it, I hadn't expected to get a smell like this. Velvety, wet and masculine.
Immensely pleasant, chic and charming.
Hard to describe, highly recommended even for a test.
Definitely a masterpiece.
Very nice sophisticated scent
Very warm and masculine
It almost smells like whiskey
OK so I sampled it because I love Del Mar Marbella. This stuff stinks, it's too much. And there are a lot of these around already. If it is meant to separate the men from the boys I'd rather be a boy, smelling of Del Mar Marbella edition..
Notes / scent: 4
Longevity / sillage: 3.5

Description: Pleasant smell, but not for everybody. Initially, at higher concentrations, apple-like, quickly turns into vanilla with a very strong tobacco background. With time, vanilla is weakening, but the background is still quite strong. This tobacco can cause negative feelings for non-smokers. But for me, which haven't been a smoker, the smell is overall fine.
I would best describe this fragrance as the father of Boss Bottled #6.They smell identical, but Ambre has the whiskey, and leathery notes that make Ambre seem like the mature version of Boss Bottled.Ambre is a very well made scent that is great for formal, date, church, wedding, business attire.Very classy, and the apple, and vanilla notes make this one very pleasant as well.
This is one of my stock scents. I bought it blind and largely due to the content of comments here on this thread. I love a bargain and it was available at a price that I could not ignore. That said, this fragrance is one of the long lasting and subtle kind that keep throwing hints of orange and apple all the way through wearing but with a beautiful undertone of oak on my skin. I don't get too much of the leather or violet at any stage in drydown.
This is one that boosts the confidence with a gentle reminder that it is there and still with you. The advertising is pretty much spot on, it does give you the feeling of effortless calm that does bring a sense of being in complete control. It keys into the confident yet quietly controlled part of my own personality very nicely. It is not flashy or staid, neither stockbroker nor old money but successful and generous in style. The choice of model is on one level perfect but perhaps gives the impression this is for an older man. For me this is for the 30 to 40 year old with a certain gravitas and definitely a professional.
I want my sauna steam to smell like this, and with my husband.... It's that kind of AMBER boys and girls. Must have.
An excellent, instantly likable scent that morphs over time. The violet notes are there at the start to add a sweetness, making any whiskey note a lightly flowered appley bourbon instead of a peaty scotch. Not enough strength in the mandarin for me to detect. The fine leather exerts itself over several hours. Like other Baldessarinis I've tried, it's a mature, light scent that needs to be applied somewhat liberally to last. I love it expressing itself over time, especially for daytime wear at the office or a casual evening out.
I guess I'm a bit at loss here. I really wanted to like this frag, I mean the notes are all there, and the ad was great, presenting this as a perfume for just the right kind of man. So I tested it and although the test gave me certain doubts, I still went and bought it and even tried to get that very right kind of man to wear it.
Alas. The notorious whiskey here has obviously been sitting on the rocks all night, turning into a watery slush, the amber is cheap and the leather is killed by the fruit compote. Sorry, guys, the one and only thing that comes to mind is the horrid concoction they prepare in those erm... special chinese nightclubs for "rich western gentlemen" - chivas+green tea with half melted ice in it. Definitely not playing up to its initial message.
Because of this perfume I wish I was male...perfect men fragrance....
reminds me of perfumes that arabs wear.. Love it, I'd like it for women as well. reminds me of oud - sweetness of amber.
Boozy opening will misguide you about the notes to follow later. It's mature. There's only a little hint of leather. I expected the ambery and woodsy drydown to last longer. Anyway, still it's a good scent and I'm commenting after testing it on my skin. Sillage is high average. I'll give it 7/10.
You know, that old guy in the ad, how he looks? Somehow is the way I picture this scent. It's not like Azzaro. This is dry, woody like a box of cigars, feeling like sitting in a chair surrounding by books or perhaps in a traditional and select club. It lacks, however, a more proeminent whisky note, for to be a little less dry, and for to be a little more enjoyable. I remember that "Clue" movie too, from 1985, which I used to love when I was a kid ("0s 7 Suspeitos", in Brasil). Anyway, I thought it would be stronger, and this doesn't make me feel dizzy. Again, this sort of smell remembers me an enviroment that I always liked, but may be a risk opition to smell like, depending the way you are, how you look, feel and what want to.
Just one note, to be fair. Now, two days later, I can say Ambré become a bit sweet at the end, less dry. Good. And I can say also that it doesn't last.
This Ambré greets me with a boozy whisky on the rock; way to make an introduction! Then, the scent is freshen up with slices of orange, but there is no apple, but maybe more like an apple cider. Leather gives it some smokiness here and something naughty to think about. All of these are sweeten by amber and vanilla; giving the scent some warm and soft sexiness. Without these two sweet ingredients, I'd find the scent bitter and very mature.
There are few fragrances out there that I think they have some similarity such as Guerlian L'Instant, Christian Audigier Man, and maybe Dirty English as well (Ambré seems to be the youngest)
Out of all Baldessarini fragrances, this Ambré is the one I like because it's well-balanced and it seems to fit in a broader age group. In my opinion, it's prefect for college, date night, and job interview. It really does "separate the men for the boys".
Quick Note: Actually I do smell red apple, but only on my clothes. It shows up when I don't try too hard to smell it. It's super fresh and very interesting mix of smoky whisky and sweet juicy apple. I was liking it but now I love it!
Absolutely love it!
A "ballsy" but enjoyable fragrance. Wear this when you want to stand out "in a good way". Longevity could be a bit better, but it sticks around on me about the same length of time as Micheal Kors, maybe a little longer. I give it a 9 out of 10!
EDIT: The more I wear this the more this is becoming my favorite, and signature scent. The blend of fresh apples and a smoky ballsy tobacco-ish, whiskey like texture is just amazing.
9/10 one of my favs
smoky-spicy clean amber.... clean in the sense that it doesnt have that dirty or animalic note you find in another amber-based scents ....
this is a very well blended fragrance where all the ingredients are playing with each other in harmony to give such a great scent that i love ....
Wood & fruit, too special,
maybe a little of tobacco low notes, this fragance can raise your humor for better.
I got it! Oak and Vanilla is the secret
LOVE THIS on my man, but women can wear too. Its horny sexy leathery smoky woody amber, slightly spicy and slightly sweet, hot hot hot!
This can go for either male or female. Smells like sweetened soft amber.
I bought this one for my boyfriend. This is an amazingly lasting and adorable perfume. It is more for cold weather rather than warm season. It has very vivid base notes and it makes me want to smell him unstopably.
This is a subtle version of Dirty English with about a ton & a half of tobacco flower (nicotiana) piled on top.
I recently obtained a barely used bottle for a song. Sharp at application, I'm 90 minutes in and I'm enveloped in a soft cloud of nicotine from tobacco flower, leather & soft ambre. Slightly sour as most tough-leafed plants are, particularly tobacco. Definely NOT the smell of cigarettes so don't avoid it if you hate the smell of ciggies, whether lit or unlit.) The seamless blend of notes feels warm, comforting and stimulating, the way fine leather does when you run your fingers lightly across it. Sultry, yes, that's the word.
The bottle is quite heavy (100ml) and it feels good to hold, very substantial, but there's nothing printed on it nor in its design to indicate whether it's meant for men or women. I bought it unboxed and had assumed it was unisex & was surprised to find it's meant for men. I don't let that deter me from enjoying it and other women shouldn't, either.
Edit: I sensed this fragrance would blossom on skin warmer than mine was when I wrote the above and July and August proved me right. Warmer skin brought out less tobacco flower and more leather. Lasted far longer on warm skin as well. Highly recommended.
For me a cologne/perfume is just a scent that makes you feel good when you wear it. I am not into strong, headache inducing scents. Ambre is not overpowering and is definetely a keeper. It is so warm and with good longevity on me, at least. I just got it and I like it very much. Others with similar warm feel but having their own signatures are Canali, Corduroy, D.Beckham Intimately.
Got it today, nice perfume,u get a feeling of an old bar which is known to you,the old waiter pouring a large bourbon in the glass and then u remember the good ole days....
This scent gives that kinda feeling.Sillage and longivity is average.
I expected a load and powerful opening, but it starts gently and nice, continued gracefully and calmly.
A little sweet and charming, mysterious and meanwhile lovely.
Sillage about average, longevity average too. (You should renew it every 2 or 3 hours)
I like it ☺
انتظار داشتم یه شروع قوی و تند داشته باشه اما اصلاً اینطور نبود
خیلی ملایم و یه ذره شیرین و گرم
بسیار دوست داشتنی و لذتبخش
نمیتونم توصیفش کنم

for me-it's one of the sexiest perfumes... absolutely love it. i don't care that Ambre is for men, i wear it and adore how the smell lingers around me.
those members were talking rude and offending about other members in the middle of the forum, but in their own language, without mentioning names, cause names are understood by all. Such dirt!
Good cologne, im not so into the sweet kind of colognes but this one is very masculine so it fits in good, havent ever really got any compliments for it( maybe one or 2) so i wonder how it smells from the person smelling you...all in all good quality cologne, rich smell 7.5 on 10
"Seperates the men from the Boys" ambre truly holds this caption. It is a Class perfume, mysterious and unique. An excellent blend of smoky apple, whisky, tobacco and laeather notes.
It is for mature age group and can be used as a formal wear for particcular ocassions.
It has got nice sillage and good longevity too!
Wonderful and heavy bottle, truly compliments the perfume. I like to smell it again and again.
I like to rate it 8 out of 10.
i got this recently and it simply suits the occasion. Initial note i spicy and as it settles down it soothes off. it also lasts long. good for parties
smelled this one and was thinkin it was just too plain spicy and dry for my tastes
Truly Amazing!!! A head turner....single malts and men
Yes. It does have Whiskey in it. I love this fragrance, its very unique, masculine and classy.
did any one know if this fragrance contains whiskey in its ingredients ?
all of this collection is very elegant to say the least, they even got a couple i dont know about,i must be slippin
I sampled it yesterday and impressed me a lot. Very deliciuos. I m not sure for the sillage and longevity yet, needs to be sampled more.
i like this one. for me it's the same familly as "chic" by herrera - sweet woody-animalistic scent. it doesn't evolve too much on my skin - but it's good. top notes are really pleasant and interesting.
I TOO , FIND AMBRE VERY MANLY , SEXY , MATURE . FOR A MAN THAT MEANS BUSINESS ...ABSOLUTELY IN CONTROL ... CERTAIN SCENTS GET ME IN `` THAT `` MOOD ... THIS IS ONE OF THEM !
this is what I call challenge!I don't think any man doesn't like to smell like this.it has almost everything:it's mature, smart, manly, not repetitive and it makes you dizzy!
it starts with some hints of citruses and orange.I can't feel any red apple, but it nice and from the first notes the woody notes are dominant.
the middle notes are definitely suitable for cold weather.in fact it's a bit like encre noir by lalique, but I like the middle notes of this one more.the leather is mixed by something warm and brown like coffee;very good combination.
I should warn you that it can get over powering for some people.besides never wear it in hot weather.it's perfect for office and ambitious bosses.
I looove this on my man. Very sensual and gives a luxurious feel. Thrilling and spicy-sweet beginning and mysterious tobacco-ish drydown.
Matured, confident, masculine. An A+ .
Notes of Leather, Amber, Vanilla & Oak are instantly recognisable in one of the smoothest Oriental Woody's
around that's masculine in the most beautiful subtle way.
Perfect for the confident man.
A very luxury and masculine fragrance. Mandarin and Apple are blended so well with the boozy notes. Bit sweet but warm and sensual in dry-down. Purely a mature fragrance for casual / romantic wear.
A great fragrance for everyday.Very soft, surprisingly so. Violet gives it softness that is very appealing compared to extra-masculine perfumes without a hint of sensuality. It smells...trustworthy.
The first moment I smelt it, it was not promising, but then, after a couple of minutes, it started to be so beautiful and very, very mistic. It goes to the same category with Chic. Definitely for dark men...
Not bad -- I quite liked the whisky and mandarin opening, and then the comfortable, warm, cosy leather and violet notes. Not extremely long-lasting scent though, at least not on my skin.
This definately has a sweet scent and i can smell a whiskey in there somewhere.
great sweet opening with rum and an ambery drydown
I like this on a man. It's a sweet, smoky amber with hints of tobacco on this drydown. Very masculine.
Excellent scent. It begins very sweet and with a hint of spice, like Captain Morgan and Coke. Finishes off with notes of cedar, pepper, and caramel. Great for a date or Thanksgiving dinner.
