No, it doesn't smell like an "old" or "mature" fragrance at all. The beginning is quite provocative and evokes something "adventurous", and I must say also playful and funny. I like very much the combination between citruses, woods and pepper in this fragrance. I'm a woman, but I normally choose perfumes for daily use according to a "yes/no pepper" criterion (Opium or other heavy orientals are an exception). But this is an unmistakably masculine fragrance and I would say it's a lovely one. I would rate it 8.5/10, since the lasting power seems to be rather poor.

A boring and generic peppery-aquatic fragrance in today's perfumery style. Unremarkable.

Del Mar Baldessarini is meant to evoke the more mature man exploring the world’s oceans and holiday destinations. Does it deliver on that? The answer in mind is sort of.

Despite the ‘oceans’ reference, it’s not at all what I would call an aquatic style of fragrance (a good thing in my opinion – far too many of these out there already!). It’s still fresh, but slightly woody and a little bit spicy. It definitely feels more mature than say your run of the mill Calvin Klein, but it’s not ‘old’ smelling at all.

I feel that as the different Del Mar Editions were released in subsequent years, the Baldessarini line got better at evoking the sort of image they had originally intended with this release.

Don’t get me wrong, I really do like this, but I will probably not re-purchase this over Seychelles or Marbella editions. Sillage and longevity are average.

For what it’s worth my personal order of preference for the Del Mar line goes:

A lighter version of BOSS Selection up till the dry down, only then you might detect the cinnamon and cardamom. But the longevity is better. Nothing special.

I just get this one today march 14, I like the way smell, fresh but at the same time sweet and warm, the one that you have to try, my recommendation is get the small bottle then if you like get the big one, in my case I get the big one because I like since first.
I think this is the one that you use for Family Sunday.

Sweet Sea

If you are familiar of Boss Selection, know that the sweet aspect of Del Mar recalls the first one. It is less than a towned down version thought. It is light, a little sweet (that refined jelly bean aspect of Selection). One wouldn't associate Del Mar with the water properly if wasn't for the ad. But could fit the spirt perhaps, as happens with scents in general.

Jacques Cavallier & Alberto Morillas are my favourite authors (noses) so when I ordered online my Lancome Miracle I also chosen a sample of this one.
It strikes you right from the beginning with a sweet-fruity-pepper blast(mandarin & little cinnamon), very very nice and alive. At this point is some similar with a mass-market EDT called STR8-Oxygene, only sweeter and of course more complex & balanced. Stays like this for about 1 hr.and then it gets sweeter-spicier (cinnamon, cardamom, cedar) for another 1hr.
At drydown its woody-sweet with clear patchouli and delicate wafts of amber and earthy vetiver.
Even if (for me, at least) all HugoBoss fragrances have something similar in the overall feeling (like a signature note...I felt smth. from this one also in BossMotion and BossBottled), I really like this one and it's kind of intoxicating for me...now in my 'want list' for sure :). I don't know Lanvin Oxygene or Esprit Connect others users mentioned but I like many of the peppery-spicy fragrances. My rank 8.2/10

My favorite to wear, in this line. It's like comparing a Toyota to a Lexus. This is a high end Lexus, roll down your drivers side window and let the wind blow through your hair.

This is a good cologne but there is not something more special than colognes from Hugo Boss!

Like those, this is more commercial than artistic.

Long lasting but sillage is average.

Not too strong not too weak just right... lasts

I saw this on the shelves for a long time before I made the decision to buy it. As with many of the fragrances I have purchased it was (1) Drastically reduced and (2) bought blind (or whatever the correct term is for buying unsmelled). I read some negative reviews which made me apprehensive. I really like this fragrance. I am not particularly good at identifying individual notes in fragrances, but the pepper and spice (cinnamon) were very clear to me as was the citrus. Wood was very obviously in the mix too. It is very much like Oxygene for men by Lanvin (which is not surprising as Alberto Morillas created both). If anything this is more peppery, less woody and a little more complex.

I'm a perfume collector, though i don't bother myself do reviews but this one...yap this is my favourite perfume to date, and got the most compliment from friends, officemates and even people i bump nowhere. Because for me the smell is really relaxing and refreshing and balanced from sunrise to sundown. It's very delicate smell, that it would be your benchmark buying perfumes, but after all, still you can't get rid of it. This is my signature smell. Everybody loves it...

Nice Scent.. Strong at the First but Sweet n Warm at the end.. nice combination n perfect for casual or formal occasion

it is so so scent... compare with others baldessarini fragrances. but still it's very pleasent perfume. not typical aquatic - it's sweet (citrus) but still have somethink that remember us sunset at seaside (amber and andpatchouli i think)

variations of "del mar" are way better

Comparing it to Esprit "Connect" and Rochas "Aquaman":
"Del Mar" is more balanced, wider spectrum, has a lot of thin pitchy "salted" nuanses, and is not pushy as ESPRIT. I can say it is "smarter" than "Connect". Aquaman is stronger, has longer tail, less balanced, more "sugar". While Aquaman is for resting, Esprit for sporting, so Del Mar is for "thinking while resting".
Esprit smells slightly less expensive than Del Mar or Aquaman. If Esprit is a jazz band, Aquaman is chamber orchestra, Del Mar - is symphonic orchestra, playing mezzo-piano, meaning "moderately soft". Sadly, after 3+ hours the "aquatic" componenta is gone and only the sudden "floral" componenta remains.

Excellent scent for a night on the town. Starts off strong, with sandalwood and pepper notes, but as the night goes on, softens to licorice, vanilla, and leather.

Very masculine.
