Malachite Banana Republic for women

very nice. interesting and original, but above all pleasant.
its a well balanced perfume, not sexy but very idiosyncratic if i can say so, which makes me feel calm and content. i'm very happy with this purchase.

Banana Republic MALACHITE opens slightly soapy to my nose but then proceeds swiftly to smooth out into an appealing woodsy oriental with a detectable dose of green mango that adds a unique texture. Depth is also imparted by a good (unnamed) fixative--could be benzoin...

I wasn't sure what to expect from Banana Republic, but I must say that with MALACHITE I am pleasantly surprised. I like the rather eccentric inversion of the soap presentation, which here comes first, not last. I also can't think of any fragrance that is anyting like MALACHITE--it really seems to occupy a node all its own...

The edp has excellent longevity and sillage, and since I love good soapy scents anyway, MALACHITE is a delight from beginning to end! I also think that this fragrance is very well named, given its density and thickness, like a smooth polished cabochon stone.

I like it. I think it's different. I love Banana Republic's fragrances, and this one wasn't my favorite, but I do like it. I work in business and it is neither offensive or heavy, but just right. Fresh, yet warm and relaxing.

Yes this one is a little odd, but I adore it and think it's incredibly well-made. I never noticed the bitterness others mentioned - it's probably a difference of skin. On me it's an unlikely mix of woods and spices and herbs that just grows deeper and richer as time goes by.

My nose isn't very well trained, so it's hard to explain exactly what I smell. My general impression is: matches the deep green hue of the bottle very well, very modern egg-shaped thing, aromatic, should be labeled uni-sex, woody earthy sensuous, but a little spice of pure bizzare. Unique enough to be a signature scent. Warm herby and perfect for a fall day.

I agree with aeternitas, it would suit a powerful, competitive, agressive personality. Unique and quirky at home, yes, but a woman with very defined sense of personal style, a fighter and a go-getter.

I have a sample of this and I think this perfume would work for a man or a woman. This must work well with my chemistry because I don't get the bitter note or anything putrid. It's fresh but has depth to it. It smells a little like Polo for men in the green bottle at first. On me it has this warm incense smell, but also remains fresh.. hard to describe it. I know I like it because this is a scent I remember, and it's just different from my other perfume picks.I guess this one either works for you or it doesn't.

Seen this gift set for a cheap price and I sampled this and alabaster well I like this one better not so much to purchase because the bottle is downright ugly and cheap looking so I didn't purchase this it smells good but not all that enough to buy it.

I LOVE Malachite! It is sharp and fresh, but also sweet. The notes to me just work- I think this scent is great during fall/winter. The scent is very unusual, so I would def. try (and wear) before you consider buying. Also, the bottle and packaging are SO pretty and simple- love it!

Didn't feel the bitter after-scent other reviwers felt.
It is a nice and subtle fragrance. After a couple of hours it grew very faint, almost like a trace of itself.
I did like it, but wouldn't buy it since it's not very long lasting or distinct.

This might be my all time favorite HG fragrance. I get compliments from complete strangers. Wow, it's so soft and sensuous. Could there be a more perfect blend of notes. I think not. So perfect for everyday wear, Love You Malachite....

I have to agree with Aeternitas. The beautiful bottle and the box promised deep woody scents and I bought it without testing it (price also was ridiculously low - now I know why!). Utter disappointment! It has some note that is very annoying to me. I could not detect at all the mango or the vanilla. The pepper is loud and sharp. Nothing really to smooth it out.

I smelled this in a magazine sample strip and I don't like it. Very strong, almost bitter, and could easily be marketed towards men. I imagine an uptight, conservative or competitive woman in the corporate business world wearing this, but that's just me. It's very overpowering.
