This is my favorite base scent when layering different perfumes. It is a sweet amber, with a woodsy and vanilla drydown. Every now and then I get a hint of a warm powdery floral delight. My body chemistry must shut down any bergamont aromatics contained in Rosewood. That being said, I love to layer other citrus bergamont perfumes on top. Many of my Victoria Secret Italian 2013 collection are delightful over this (as their longevity is absolute crap.... This extends them into an Enjoyable, long lasting and sultry scent. Great for evening use.
The notes listed here is not what I smell. I do not smell any tea at all. Tea is a very distinct smell, I should be able to smell that. How is no wood is even listed, and this scent is listed as an Oriental Floral but no florals are listed, this makes no sense. It smells like floral powder scent with woodsy base note.
Elegance in a bottle!!
I am surprised that Rose and Cedar wood are not listed as the primary notes. Eitherway this is a lovely classy rosey / woody perfume. I wanted it for myself, but choose to give it to my Mom as a gift.
Projection: 4 feet

Disclamer: my experience may be different from your experience based on my skin type, the season, and my personal tastes
I fell in love with this the first time I sniffed it. The bottle is beautiful. I longed to have a bottle and today I finally had my chance to purchase. But first, I sniffed to remind me how much I loved it. Something changed or maybe I changed. It is heavy on amber but nothing else to interest me. There is citrus for balance but the amber seems oily for my nose, if that makes sense. Thick and uninteresting. What happened?? Oh well, more savings toward a more worthy bottle.
One spray on me:
Sillage: about a foot
Longevity: more than 6 hours
Rating: 2/5
Price: $60
This scent is a total hit with me at night. I don't know how many people have asked me what I was wearing. It's smoky, alluring, comforting, yet classy and sexy. Love it.
Lasts forever! Sweet amber scent, the amber definitely dominates this one.
Sweet tea, powdery & comforting. I love it..
Another wounderful unisex scent Im enjoing this days
its powdery floral & woody scent with an amazing rosey vanilla drydown , it also lasts all day with great sillage .Rosewood by Banana Republic is a definite winner most perfume lovers neglects this beauty.
I smelled this couple of years ago for the first time on my brother-in-law's girfriend and had to try it for myself. Yes, it was nice but powdery scents are not my thing so I never bought it. Fast forward to this weekend when I was at BR and saw some travel sizes of their fragrances and there were few Rosewood left. Sold!
Bergamot, and tea? I would have never guessed. I thought vanilla had to be in the notes but I guess not. Essentially it smells like powdery vanilla with woodsy undertones. There is a hint of bergamot on the top but honestly, if I didn't see it in the notes, I don't think I would have detected it. This is very cozy and comforting scent, kind of like wrapping a plush blanket around yourself on a cold winter day. Someone mentioned it reminds them of Cashmere Mist and I can see that-its the same kind of cosy, soft, powdery scent. I was surprised to find out that its rather long lasting since most of fragrances nowdays end up dissappearing very quickly but Rosewood has great lasting power and siliage(while its not overpowering, it did last 4-5 hours on me). Incidentally, it also reminds me of Curve Crush bY Liz Claiborne except Rosewood is more sophisticated and elegant smelling
The notes listed by Fragrantica can't be right. I smell vanilla, woods, and musk. At first I found the perfume to be really boring, but there is something in it that makes it stand out as unique. For being inexpensive, it's a lot nicer than most celebrity fragrances. I can see how people find it sexy and alluring. Seems like a great evening perfume.
Another winner for me from Banana Republic. They just don't stop amazing me. Like I've said before, I never had a high regard for this brand in the perfume industry. However, they are now slowly but surely gaining my respect. Rosewood is a rather comforting scent with just the right blend of notes. Here the amber & tea note are especially lovely to me. For sure, it will be a bargain buy.
I so wanted to try this fragrance and now is finnaly available here. What a disapointment. Could not get any of the notes listed, just a very sweet syrup.
what a lovely fragrance!
sensual floral, vanilla and tea...
It is warm, sweet (not sickly sweet) and so seductive.
Love it!!!
I'm 23 and have been using this perfume since I was 19--it's an excellent Oriental for younger women due to the softness of the vanilla and sandalwood notes. With my chemistry it smells like a gently sweet amber, and I always get compliments on it--probably because most girls my age are swathed in predictable fruit/florals like Daisy or Coco Mademoiselle. Love this scent--especially for the price!
This was actually my wedding day fragrance because my husband loves it on me (I do like it too)
very,very specific,powdery.
I admit I have always walked past the Banana Republic store and never thought much about it, but I have now tried two of their scents I enjoy. It's safe to say I will not be just walking by anymore, I will be buzzing in to check out their perfume!
Rosewood is a flash of Bergamont, followed by a mix of tea and amber and a touch of Bergamont which combines to make it smell woody and rich. In fact after I sprayed it on I walked by my husband and he asked "What smells like trees?" LOL! Yes you do smell a bit like you walked into Pier One or some other import store. But it's more like when you get home and the tissue they wrapped your purchase in still smells like the store, and it smells wonderful. The tea never smells like tea to me, which is great because I'm not a tea fan, it just adds to the woody quality.
As time rolls by Rosewood begins to adopt a vanillic feel which I adore, but mainly it keeps that woody vibe throughout. If I had simply read the notes I never would have given Rosewood a chance, but I received a sample from a lovely fragrantica member and now I'm hooked. And I agree, the box this arrives in is amazing! It's an actual wood box. Really nice!
I won this fragrance in Polish "Your Style". I like it, but I can smell only tea with something heavy, maybe its amber. Nothing special, but I'm glad that I have it. The wood blox is charming.
I had no idea that Banana Republic could make such an elegant scent. My hubby and I went shopping at a Tanger Outlet recently and I just happened to dab a little of the body lotion tester on my hand before we left the store. I kept smelling my hand and as time wore on, I decided I had to have it. It's very ambery on me and I can pick up nuances of the tea note which gives it a fresh appeal. It's probably not going to be a classic scent, but it is comforting, warm, and smoky. The lotion settles close to the skin and it's actually fairly long-lasting and it's non-greasy which is another plus. I don't shop at the Banana Republic often at all (not a huge fan of their clothes), but this was a nice surprise. :)
It smells like the original Burberry on my skin.
Beautiful Scent, classic, calm and sensual altogether. Starts freshly warm and gets smokier and vanillic as time goes by. Stays close to the skin.
Very comforting and elegant. The box itself is a masterpiece in my opinion. Suits the classiness of the scent. Warm and sweet, but not cloyingly sweet and definitely not too heavy.
Just perfect.
This is a wonderful scent! For me it`s the perfect mixture of floral and powder-sweet notes. Never obtrusive but by no means prosy.
The lasting power is very good. Every time I put it on I have the feeling that it almost becomes a part of me- if that isn`t a sign that I found my "soulmate-perfume"
The bottle and the box is so beautiful :)
I thought that this would indeed be a fragrance for me ... completely wrong.
We don't get all along at al. Vanilla and more vanilla and way to SWEET ... reminds me of The Body Shop's Vanilla Oil ... (which I do not like :(
I probably have the wrong chemistry for Rosewood. Luckily I bought me a small bottle.
But .. I'll give it another chance in the winter ... Perhaps we suit each other better then.
I can recognize why people would enjoy this...it is a decent scent. Unfortunately it is ruined for me on the basis of a personal association. When I tested this I kept thinking there was something intensely familiar about it, but couldn't place it just then. Later on I realized that there is something in it that gives me an instant flashback to summer camp as a kid. There was something in the bathrooms at camp (air freshener?) that smelled EXACTLY like this :(
The name is somewhat misleading, as this perfume does not smell like rosewood (or anything woody at all). It is a thick and sweet combo of vanillic amber and bergamot. I don't find that the tea adds any freshness to the composition here.
Long lasting, high quality, and femininely breath-taking. The cleanliness of this fragrance is like rose petals on a freshly washed linen sheet. This romantic and beautiful perfume is ideal for a classy but quiet woman.
Warm warm warm! Vanilla, Woods & Amber galore. This is really yummy. It lasts forever and ever and ever and smells like a warm woody feast! Love it!
This is more powdery than I thought, but still remains true to its name- wrapping oneself in the aura of rosewood. After I get past the initial powdery blast, this fragrance transports me to the redwood forest; I see beautiful mossy greens and red trees and smell the rosewood. It is earthy, wet and should be a fall/spring fragrance. Romantic and intensely woody.
I love how the bergamot in the top notes is almost fruity, and the tea note adds a lovely, fresh balance to the amber base. As it dries down, it increasingly reminds me of Donna Karan - Cashmere Mist, although I prefer Rosewood. Somehow it seems to have more depth and character on my skin, even though there are fewer notes.
I love this perfume! It is simple and warm. The amber/vanilla base is comforting and mature without being grandma-esque. Staying power is average for me
I love the vanilla in this, but it's a bit too woody to my taste. So it should be of course, but as I am finding out more and more, that's not really my thing. It reminds me of incense too much I guess. I can fully appreciate why others love this perfume though.
comforting and soft, very delicate..i like it a lot.Sweet but not cloying,it has some freshness to it also
These scents were just launched here in Norway, and I tested Rosewood today. Not at all what I expected from a fragrance with that name!
A soft and warm sweet vanilla and amber-y scent. I can barely detect the other notes that are supposed to be in it. A bit too sweet for my taste, but i like the fresh feeling it has with the warm sweetness. It's like a shower with an exlusive shower cream and then a large thick and soft towel.
Banana Republic ROSEWOOD opens and remains fairly sweet, with a marked note of vanilla, but a woodiness slowly emerges, and the drydown is a powdery, slightly spicy, woody vanilla. This is much more of an oriental woody, to my nose, as the florals are very subtle and vanilla definitely dominates.
ROSEWOOD is a worthy comfort scent: warm and soothing vanilla-scented wood, which I believe is in fact rosewood--or reasonable facsimile. Best suited for wintry days, this edp is longlasting and has an impressive sillage without being overwhelming. Walking around in a light cloud of ROSEWOOD is simply a pleasure!
I really enjoyed this scent, but every time I wore it something bothered me. I knew I had smelled this scent before somewhere. I couldn't put my finger on it for the longest time, but one day I was going through my perfumes to choose a smell I have not worn in awhile, when I reached for Curve Crush by Liz Claiborne. As soon as I spritzed it on that's when it hit me! This smells almost identical to Curve Crush. I hate that! It bothers me when a perfume basically rips off someone elses scent. I don't know which of these came out first, but I have seemed to of lost interest in wearing either one now. Too bad. I guess it's just one of my quirks.
Well, this remind me of Euphoria to be honest. But softer, to others it gives that rose scent and vanilla when I tried it on. The vanilla is nice and very soft.
I would say this is one of the most classic romantic parfum one can get. It is elegant and so simple yet innocent.
Winter parfum definitely or Cool Night parfum :)
Its packaging is simply beautiful. <3
I like this but cannot say that it is my favorite. I would highly recommend this to any vanilla lovers out there, because that is what I smell most predominately.
I prefer the opening much better that the drydown, but this still is lovely, gentle and very feminine. However , I'm trying to stay away from vanilla base notes because I have too many perfumes that end this way. Beautiful but not what I'm searching for.
Bought perfume Rosewood by Banana Republic only description of the fragrant pyramid and not mistaken! The aroma is incredible! Delicate rose scent of woody notes been added which give finesse and character! Soft and warm scent!
Naf Naf had a scent called "Graffiti Vanilla" and Rosewood smells very similar to it.
I purchased this unsniffed and was expecting something really similar to Flowerbomb, based on the previous reviews. But Rosewood is very much different from it. And it is not even rose smelling or woody. Nice but not amazing. A powdery vanilla scent with frutis and flowers.
I like the box much better than the scent.
It was a summer day 85degreeF, very sunny when I tried this. Lasted about four hours even during outside walking. Still smelled clean with a powdery vanilla drydown. I am happy enough to buy it. Especially with the great cooler weather reviews. Thanks.
I finally had a chance to try Rosewood thanks to litldove7 for swapping with me!
Rosewood is very similar to the scent of the FlowerBomb lotion I have(I don't have the perfume unfortunately). I love the powdery smell of Rosewood. It reminds me of some scented lipstick I have or like talcum powder but not the grandmother kind. To me its like the powdery notes in Hanae Mori and Casmir. Hard to explain! It might be from the woodsy notes. I love the creamy sweetness the vanilla adds from beginning to end along with fresh white tea leaves and white amber. The lasting power is great. I just need a huge bottle of this!
I especially went into a shop today to smell it after reading the reviews. I love it, it has such a beautiful long lasting fragrance. I cant stop smelling my arm. The fragrance hasnt changed since it was first sprayed on my arm, it has distinct vanilla and rosewood for me. A very warm and comfortable fragrance, not one that makes a loud statement but one of confidence all the same. Very well priced for such a lovely fragrance.
I rather enjoy Rosewood by Banana Republic. It's by far my favorite from the Banana Republic line. Does anyone else think it smells like Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf? I think that's why I love it so much! The bottle is very nice too! I'll be getting it soon because it is so much cheaper than Flowerbomb! It's definitely a new favorite of mine!
I don't know what an actual rosewood smells like....but this is a nice perfume. I can detect the bergamot at the beginning, but only for a short amount of time. The vanilla and tea come up quickly while the bergamot fades away (but not completely) and lingers quietly in the background. I can't detect the tea, but I definitely get the vanilla and amber. This fragrance stays with me most of the day. It dries down to a somewhat rosy powder that's still sweet, but not as much as it was in the beginning and middle period. It's a lovely scent during the day. Is there sandalwood in here as well? I can't tell. There's something special about it that I just can't quite point out.
Rosewood is really lovely, cute and honest.I thought it would smell like, wood and fresh in some way like "DSquared-She Wood" but it's totally different. The beginning is a bit fresh and i smell the tea note, but then it becomes so sweet smells like a vanilla body lotion,it don't match to the name.
I really want to buy it,something is really wonderful, but it's not so special and unique but a very pleasant scent. The Bottle is very nice and i love the woody box. It's a very good scent for the winter time, reminds me of x-mas biscuits,it's also very cozy and really comfortable and sensual.
Rosewood,sweet,woody,warm,really nice.Woody with vanilla.Long staying power.
I bought the minis of Rosewood (for me) and Black Walnut (for a neighbor)for $15 for the pair!! I really like Rosewood as a soft fallorspring daytime/casual evening floriental. It lasts about 4 hours on me; not bad at all.
Tica is absolutely right; this is *definitely* better than many designer perfumes, and priced better, too.
The drydown is pleasantly vanilla and amber. This is not a bad "default" perfume, for when you don't know what to wear. Like a simple black pencil skirt in perfume form.
I can detect no rosewood at all in this. What I do smell is a lovely sweet vanilla with sandalwood notes. Still, for a scent entitled 'rosewood,' I would expect at least a hint of it. Very nice, and priced right and love the bottle but not one I'll bother getting. Also didn't last very long on me.
This perfume is a pleasant surprise. It smells soft and clean. In my opinion it smells better than a lot of designer brand perfumes.
Beautiful. Vanilla Mmmmm. A nice step away from the fruity trend.
I love this scent. after it dies down, it is powdery slight floral rosewood. It does give me a headache though. But I will still wear it and take an aspirin.
a perfect collection ,nice and i love the wood box, so calming
