Very similar to Sensual Amber, but not as sweet on the uptake and does dry down to the more "masculine" side of things, but who cares? That's the (as one person called "mentholated") patchouli, musk and dry non-sweet chocolate making their appearance.
This is a lovely scent. I never tried it when it was offered by BBW and now I'm stuck paying 3X as much for a damn bottle (of body splash) and it irks me. I wrote BBW and asked them to consider bringing it back. its one of the few more "grown up" scents that BBW offers... (two others being Dark Kiss and Forever Sunshine IMHO).
This really is a great layering scent to add depth or sensuality to some other perfume you own that feels too linear. This may be a fall/winter only, but I have not tried it in hot weather, so I'll get back to you on that!
I also agree that any fruit chords are lost on my nose. *shrug*. But I am not sure I'd want fruit with this.
Very Oriental, very amber, very nice.
Dear BBW,
if you are reading this:
BRING THIS BACK FOR GOODNESS SAKES!
I'm not sure why people aren't getting chocolate because I get lots and lots of it.
The great thing about this scent is that it lasts forever..at least on me it does. I only wear this one sparingly and only during colder months (I learned my lesson behind that trying to wear it during a hot summer day!!) because its just too much to wear otherwise.
I don't get anything manly either at drydown. Maybe its because my bottle is uber old and I purchased this when it first came out, but it smells very femme on me. I smell honey, chocolate, vanilla, and some florals after drydown. I do NOT get any pineapple though.
I wish it were not discontinued though, am going to miss it when my bottle runs out.
I had the body wash and lotion once upon a time. I loved it at first because it was so gourmand to me; the chocolate notes really stood out on my skin. Then one day, out of the blue, I began to dislike it. It started to give me a headache from the overbearing sweetness (rare for me). I quickly gave it away to my sister before I began to completely loathe it. I did find the lasting power pretty impressive though. It's a great fall/winter frag with it's ambery-chocolate deliciousness, I just wish I hadn't got tired of it because it truly was one of my faves from BBW. I still love you chocolate amber and maybe one day your sweetness won't be too much for me and I'll revisit you.
I don't "get" this one. I had Sensual Amber and liked it. So when I read about Chocolate Amber, I had to try it. Talk about disappointment. I was hoping for the chocolate note to stand out a little. I have to agree with daisyann and katietwo, it's masculine. My nose must be screwed on wrong too. No chocolate or fruitiness of any kind that I can detect at all. I can't even tell you what I smell, it's so... odd. On me it's dry, loud, and heavy. Maybe I got a bad bottle?
wow i dont smell any fruit in this! I love this because it reminds me of Chantilly by Houbigant, and that is what my grandmother used to wear. I can defantley see why some on here would say that it smells kind of masculin, because it sortta does. But over all it is made for a woman. The chocolate is hardly present in this and it's weird but nither is the amber???? weird right. However I do smell honey and lots of it, and a subtle beautiful dusty orchid. The chocolate & amber are like the middle notes and come and go so fast you dont really have time to think about it. I showed my youngest sister this on my wrist and asked her who it reminded her of, she said "grandma stubbs". I was so happy because thats who it reminded me of too. Over all this is an amazing perfume and I love love it. This is not gourmand, because I a gourmand lover from way back. It is super sensual and defanitly and oriental no matter what.
To my nose, this one smells like tons of sweet/candy/gourmand fragrance out there. For instant, CanCan by Paris Hilton and Fancy by Jessica Simpson come right to might, less fruity though. Short-lasting.
My nose must be put on wrong because this smells very mentholated for me and I can't smell the chocolate. Even the amber. Well, maybe a little. It indeed leans towards the masculine side as mentioned before. Maybe I'd appreciate it more smelling it on somebody else. Someone male.
I don't get a lot of chocolate in this one. It's a complex, layered oriental, fairly heavy and fruity and while I can admire it's structure and see where it will be a knock out to some people, I don't care for it for myself. It's not offensive, but it is heavy, and I felt weighed down by it. Mind you, I do wear fairly heavy perfumes at times, but usually I steer clear of the orientals, and this totally qualifies. Interesting, but ultimately not something I want to wear or smell.
I bought this perfume about a year ago and I love to wear it mostly in the winter time, I guess cuz it gives you that warm cozy feeling. But for some reason I always reach for this one when I'm on that time of the month! I don't know if it's the incredible chocolatey smell or what, but it makes me feel better and it curbs PMS symptoms too. Try it, you'll see!
If you like chocolate in perfume like Covet or Angel you may like this fragrance. All I smell is the dark chocolate and amber. It is not a sweet fragrance like Angel, it is a dry chocolate, more like cocoa. It is a great comfort scent. I agree with falovalo Bath and Body Works fragrances don't last long, but Chocolate Amber and Sensual Amber seem to last a good while. I like this scent when I want to smell dark chocolate, usually in the winter, but sometimes before bed.
It's a bit on the masculine side, but I think it's a scent that men seem to like. You really can detect the chocolate note in it. As with all other Bath and Body Works fragrances, it lasts only a little while.
I love this scent almost as much as Sensual Amber.. my sister and mom love it more so. If you want a chocolatey touch added to the Sensual, get this.
I like the initial chocolate and fruits that I can smell initially. I am just a little confused when it dries down, it smells similar to men's perfume...not bad, just weird.
