Sea Island Cotton Bath and Body Works for women

I go back and forth between this one and the classic Cotton Blossom which to me is a sweeter cotton scent. They both smell like clean, fresh laundry.

Perhaps my favorite Bath and Body Works (not including the Victoria's Secret PINK with a splash line) fragrance of all time, this was re-gifted to me by my mother who compliments me every time I wear it. I originally did not care to wear this because I thought it made me smell of fresh laundry. However, this has become one of my all time favorite fragrances. I do also have the body splash, but this review is for the EDT only.
The packaging, while it is super basic and borderline boring for a perfume bottle, I personally find it classic and as pure as the fragrance. I love to display this on my shelf and it reminds me of a very underdressed version of the Juicy Couture perfume bottles. (My bottle, however, is different and much classier than the bottle pictured.)
The scent of Sea Island Cotton is described perfectly by the name. It has the smell and feel of being on a cool island with a fresh breeze passing through you. I absolutely love that about this one. The scent is also reminiscent to that of a lotion I would ritually apply on my hands before school every day back in 6th grade, so it has a sentimental quality to myself personally.
The only downside to this perfume is, because it is an EDT, it does not last as long as I would like it to. Usually, on my skin, EDT last a very long time, but this one does not. I don't mind carrying this in my purse however, because it just means I get to smell it throughout the day and escape for a moment. Despite this, it does last a long time in the bottle.
I give this a 9/10, the only reason being its semi-poor lasting power. Definitely will repurchase, though.

I love this entire line of products. I use the body wash and body cream nearly everyday. My everyday perfume is Warm Cotton by clean and together they work great on me. I get compliments everyday on how great and nice I smell. Yes I know, I start off smelling like clean laundry but after half an hour turns very feminine. Sillage and staying power is excellent. Plus it's a lot cheaper and a lot better than the Clean Warm Cotton body wash and lotion.

One of the best clean scents out there (along with the discontinued Dancing Waters). Perfect for a shower gel. However, I would not want to smell like clean sheets when I go out, so I stick to the shower gel.

Sea Island Cotton smells just like fresh linen sheets from the dryer. A comforting clean fragrance like beach towels and fresh air. A perfect choice for when you don’t want a heavy floral or sugary sweet fragrance. Great scent! It is so fresh and clean!

Strong fragrance with a very clean drydown. During the drydown, it smells like crisp, freshly laundered white shirts. Reminiscent of Cotton White, a discontinued fragrance from the Body Shop.

Body Spray review. I am a little strange with this perfume. One day I will love it with a passion, and another day I will hate it with a passion. I just have to be in the mood to wear it really. It is a sweeter floral perfume mixed with vanilla. It does remind me of clean clothes. 6 sprays lasts about 6 hours on me. I like this for the spring and summer

I love wearing this scent to bed. It gives my sheets that freshly washed smell and drifts me right off to sleepy-ville. The next day when I slip into bed and I'm not wearing it the bed still smells like it :). This ones a keeper.

I'd been dying to try this perfume for quite awhile after reading all the good reviews about it, and about how clean it smells, and luckily I've now received a big bottle of it, along with BBW's raspberry vanilla perfume, in a swap with the very nice Cristine. It's my first foray into the world of Bath & Body Works fragrances so it's pretty exciting for me!!

Sea Island Cotton definitely is a very clean smelling perfume that is reminiscent of freshly washed clothes, although to me it smells slightly artificial at first and has more of a fabric softener smell rather than the smell of clothes that have been hanging on a line outside in the sunshine to dry. On my skin though it smells more natural, softer and is very pleasant. It's a good perfume to wear in the spring and summer although it could easily be worn year round because it's so inoffensive and clean smelling. The staying power though isn't great. On me it fades quite quickly and only lasts for a few hours before it seems to disappear. All in all it's a very likeable, pleasant scent and I like it, although I still prefer my Oxygene perfume to wear when I want to smell super clean because to me it smells more natural, softer and more sexy!

it's a very clean scent!good to wear at the workplace,because it's inoffensive. I love it! I wear it whenever i don't feel like wearing any scent, it's either this or bvlgari omnia crystalline.

This is similar to l'Artisan l'Eté en douce for me! But I prefer this one, because it's a little bit sweeter. I also find some similarities with Moonlight path, that is my absolute favourite fragrance; on my skin MP is powdery musk + sweet flower, while SIC is powdery musk + cotton. It's confortable and wereable all year round...it makes me feel fine, clean and happy!

Very clean. This is like the equivalent of sitting in the middle of a cotton field near the ocean. Relaxing and delightful!

Crispy clean fresh and ready for action....it is what has become my signature scent, my everyday wear...specially for summer. I tend to wear others for special occasions and for getting close, but for every morning and everyday wear, I layer the shower gel, body lotion and body spray the perfume too and I am set for the day, LOVES IT!!

Almost all my perfumes are sweet,musky and floral scents.So, i m tired and bored of wearing such kind of scents. I bought 'sea island cotton' cause it is fresh,light,clean and pure to refresh my mind and I like to wear it on hot days.

This is one of my favorites. It's soft and clean, like snuggling with a blankie when I was little. For that reason, I think I find it comforting. But it's not all powder and laundry soap either. There's a subtle complexity to this making you feel like you're sitting on your beach front porch with a cup of tea wrapped in a freshly washed blanket first thing in the morning, watching the waves break on the shore and hearing the gulls call. It's an aptly named fragrance where I pick up the sea air as much as I pick up the freshly washed cotton. Good stuff.

This smells heavily of synthetic musk (white musk), which is used to scent many laundry products. If you love how your clothes smell fresh out of the dryer, then this is for you! I, on the other, don't like smelling like I just doused myself in fabric softener. Pass.

im not gonna lie i wear this before i go to bed because it smells clean like i was just washed. i wear it in the morning to school to whenever i go with my hair wet because it makes me smell even cleaner and fresh. i woulnt use it as my scent though i just wear it when i want to feel cleaner than usual.

This scent always makes me feel like I just sent my body through the wash and my whole self being is just clean and fresh. It's great for a long stressful day when you just want to feel refreshed, and I love using the body cream before bed and feeling like I'm in a luxurious freshly laundered bed. Frankly, I just love this smell. It's a got a little more than just laundry going on though, it has some sea notes that make me feel like I am doing laundry right by the sea. This makes it even better because it's even more of an escape. LOVE IT.

Favorite scent from B & B. The only one I really wear anymore from there. I prefer the sanitizer, lotion and body wash to the perfume or spray. and I spray another clean scent with the lotion.

Smells exactly like cheap dryer sheets---chemicals and soap.

smells weird and gives me a headache. I was a bit disappointed.

This is very soft and clean, it doesn't shout " I have perfume on" you just clean and out of the shower.

B&B had a buy 3 get 3 free and I went nuts.

This is the one I just don't like at all. Too synthetic. Smells like clothes softener really and yet when I tried using it on sheets, etc. I found it smelled even too synthetic for that purpose. I prefer the Lavender/Vanilla spray from B&B to use as sheet/room spray - much better quality.

The bottle is nice with the beautiful Aqua color of the juice tho.

i love clean scents!! this i ordered in anticipation but i didnt like it, didnt remind me of that "clean"smell at all, maybe just my body chemistry!! found it quite boring & "unisex" smelling!

When I don't want perfume...this is my solution. Soft & fresh like clean laundry, yet feminine with just a hint of vanilla & musk. Never overpowering. Just lingering faintly.

I'm not a fan of BBW's fruity, sugary, scents...But I am a fan of their Green, Aquatics, and Citrus scents. That's where I think BBW's talent lies. They seem to get those just right all the time!

I only have the mist, but it gets the job done! It kisses the skin with just enough fragrance.

So soft and clean. How could I not fall for this one? Simple in the most pure sort of ways. Clean, warm, laundry fresh from the dryer...or fresh off the line on a hot, southern, summer day. I tend to love fragrances that have a certain "creaminess" to them...and this one has it, too. There can be a beachy-ness to this scent, as well. I can't wait to where it on a summer day...walking down the block from our house to the beach and home again...only to smell its scent lingering on my skin. Great value. As with all B&BW's...using the shower gel/body butter combo and it is gorgeous.

A simple clean smell.Like warm fluffy cotton sheets straight out of the dryer. Perfect for a hot day. This and SJP`s Dawn are very similar.Powdery soft and airy, make you think of clear blue skies and fluffy white clouds. Great palate cleanser for summers, for days when you want to smell clean and fresh,without smelling like a citrus lemonade stand or a fruit salad.

I don't like to limit myself to only one fragrance at Bath and Body Works, my good luck charm these days when it comes to buying scents. If I can't get Warm Vanilla Sugar due to its immense popularity, I can also go for Sea Island Cotton. Like Vanilla Sugar, Sea Island is light, soft, subtle, and never overpowering. It is perfect for a trip to Florida or anywhere tropical. I can also mix it up with Dancing Waters, the other tropical fragrance. So my three B&BW faves are Warm Vanilla Sugar, Sea Island Cotton, and Dancing Waters. I couldn't take to any of the "sexys" and I wasn't impressed with Sweet Pea, one of B&BWs best sellers, for being too fruity. These three are the best for me, and I am happy to mix them or rotate them every day.

i dont have the perfume. i however have the body lotion and wash,well im out of the wash. i enjoyed it immensely and hope to try out the perfume. its light and wonderful.

Sea Island Cotton is similar to the original Cotton Blossom from the same company. It starts out with a very watery fruit juice. Then it becomes sweet floral aquatic with a tiny hint of salt. Later the vanilla mixes in and reminds me of sea salt water taffy from the broadwalk. Overall, the scent stays clean, fresh, and oceanic. I wear it quite often at home when I don't want anything overly masculine or too girly.

This is actually cleaner and softer than CLEAN Men is. I added it to my WANT list tentatively after so many great reviews(BluDreamer7806 being the best!) but ever the sceptic I had to try it myself and when I did I was right up there with her...

It starts out with a fresh breeze of pear and citruses(succulent blood orange stands out to me)touched with a slight hint of greens and flowers but this wind is only the messenger and it leaves in its wake the softest subtlest blend of florals I've ever smelled. The watery jasmine and cyclamen complement the dry orange blossom and sweet green muguet perfectly and the cotton flower note is reminiscient of laundy on the line warming in the sun, kissed with these scents. The drydown is very comforting with the clean white musk and the powder covering the delicate vanilla and sandalwood. How can they say this is for women when we men like to smell soft and clean sometimes too?

I was always a Body Shop fan until
this and Rainkissed Leaves completely changed my old opinion of B&BW. I USED to think that this is where people who couldn't afford "real" perfumes got their scents but no more. I'm a believer 100%, especially with the release of four new men's scents this year. They are worth checking out..

I agree that this does have a smell reminiscent of laundry detergent. The freshness of it is quite comforting. I really enjoy using this as a summer scent.

my friend has this and it smells gorgeous on her, like the just showered smell. but I do not like having to smell like someone else, so I never bought it.

i just finished my 15ml bottle, i really liked wearing it, such a clean and peaceful feeling, like clean cotton towels..it is strong and it does remind detergent but it didn't annoy me. very good.

Arkangel: I am glad to hear a fella mention that this is not necessarily a fragrance solely for women. I have worn this, philosophy's pure grace and B&B's white musk; all which are sold for women. I have had many people complimenting me whenever I wear them; which is on rare occasions, yet when I wear most men's fragrances, it is rare to receive positive comments.....interesting.

Okay, so it's a bit like the scents in current popular cleaners and air fresheners, but hey - I really love wearing it. Kasku's description, as well as the name, is right on - it smells like when I hung my clothes on the line when I lived in South Florida. The citrus (I can't pick out the pear) makes me feel uplifted, the cotton-clean-soapiness makes me feel clean and light (I don't get so much powder, like in Moonlight Path)...and just a little touch of sweet. The base notes are not overbearing, it's a good balance. Lasts well, but not so strong to make anyone at work complain. Parfait.

Note: I realized that this reminds me of a perfume I used to love called Mandarin Vanilla by Shiara, especially after wearing it all day.

Later update: Just got DK's Cashmere Mist, and this is REALLY similar. I see where B&BW got their inspiration!

on my skin..this smells like i wore donna karan's cashmere mist and then went to the beach with my friends...its very light but i still can smell it...really good purchase..i have to admit that i wasnt really into it atfirst bu when they changed the looks of the signature collection...it was kind of like they improved the scent

Yes this is one clean smell. It's light, powdery & cottony (duh). The scent reminds me of clean laundry I had to pick up after my my mom hanged them the sun on a beach vacation. Lasting power .. maybe 2-4 hours. Stays on me longer when the weather is hotter outside.

Bluh, I got this in hopes of it being a clean laundry-like scent. Nope, it's all powder. It somewhat reminds of a deodorized armpit. Not that it smells like sweat, it just smells like deodorant, not exactly what I was looking for.

The BEST cotton scent I have! I can wear it anytime of the day.

I bought this and the first couple of times smelled like nice laundry now all i can smell is coconut tanning oil

I have the fragrance mist and it's very fresh and clean. The pear makes the top notes crisp and bright and the musk in the bottom adds a salty warmth to the dry down. The powder keeps the dry down cottony clean, too, softening the musk. It does indeed smell like warm skin after a day at the sea, blended with the scent of fresh cotton sheets. I'm quite fond of this one. Nice price, too.

I love this scent. It smells very clean and reminds me of the South and being at my boyfriend's house on the Eastern shore.

just got out of the shower and am wearing this one now. i layered it with its own body lotion too. its so warm, snuggly and has a smooth powdery scent. this is more of my nite time scent because its so comforting and i love to fall asleep smelling sea island cotton.

This is marketed towards women, but it is women who point me in the direction of this fragrance. Even the Bath & Body employees said they preferred to smell this on a man. I like it a lot. In the beginning, it seemed a bit soft, but then wore down to a very clean-musky and rounded scent.

It's daybreak and I've just been given a pair of angel wings. With them I fly to the heavens to lightly run my fingers along the feather-light clouds. I'm inhaling a breath of fresh air..................

Bath & Body Works "SEA ISLAND COTTON" is: Light, Fresh, Airy, Ethereal, Soft, Pretty.........LOVELY!

This fragrance is addictive. It opens with a splash of tangerine and a hint of pear. The citrus is more potent than the pear, thus you're only granted with a hint of it. As this perfume develops, the flowers come in to play and dominate for a while. I definitely smell the jasmine, freesia and cyclamen. The best part of "Sea Island Cotton" is the drydown. It's not really musky or sweet. It's soft, cottony, clean, fresh and powdery. It's a rather relaxing and calming fragrance. It's like standing outside in the morning, waiting for drops of cool, spring rain to shower your skin. It's so fresh, tranquil and soothing. Don't be fooled by the name, because this fragrance isn't aquatic, although it is calming like sea water can be. Better suited for the spring, but can be worn in the summer as well.

I like how clean and warm this scent is. It smells like a clean laundry dried by the Sun and ocean breeze. Love it :)

This is my FAV from Bath & Body Works. Love the lotion too. Very soft and sensual. Makes my man feel comfortable when I have it on.
