Bottega Veneta launched the self-titled debut perfume in 2011. This fragrance of simply elegance is inspired by Venetian landscapes. In early 2013, a new version of the debut, the second fragrance Bottega Veneta Eau Legere comes out.
Tomas Maier, the creative director of the house, explains the idea behind the new fragrance: “I wanted something completely new, a creation that combines the sensuality of the original Bottega Veneta fragrance with the clarity and freshness of water.”
Michel Almairac, the creator of both perfumes, described the process of developing a new version as “passing the original fragrance through a waterfall." The composition is leathery - floral - chypre and it opens with refreshed dazzling top notes of the original which include bergamot and pink pepper. The scent retains its unique floral accord of jasmine, this time animated by delicate gardenia. Combination of oak moss and musk form a feminine and delicate trail.
The new advertising campaign will again feature Nine d'Urso. The campaign is shot by Bruce Weber. The fragrance is available as 30, 50 and 75 ml Eau de Toilette.

I agree with Querelle's sentiments on this, it was true love from the beginning. A case where opposites attract and fit perfectly together. I am usually not one for pink pepper but here it blends seamlessly. The pepper is instantly noticeable, but quickly settles into the earthy oakmoss and a lasting impression of musk. Upon first spray I felt I wasn't dressed properly for the occasion, I was in jeans and this fragrance was meant for a dress, and a glass of wine in hand! Immediately I imagined this to be the perfect fragrance to wear on ones anniversary, it's been 10, 20, or even 35 years and here you are still in love as the day you met. This is not a floral, girly scent, yet it is feminine, it is the scent of a woman who has lived in a mans world and done it in her own way, and is much admired for it.
I can't get enough of this fragrance, two spirtz last me all day. Has a sexy earthy smell to it if you will. The oakmoss is the leader of this fragrance on me. Just Love <3
If it was possible, I would dive in it, reach the bottom and stay there listening my favourite songs.. It was love at first sight. I took Eau Legere home that day and since then, every morning we smile to each other.. Pure JOY! Thank you Mr Almairac..
Smelling this fragrance reminds me of a cool summer day in Highlands, N.C. It brings me back to the peace and restoration that I experience when we are able to get away.
smelt this in Kings Rd, It is close to the skin but nicer with lemon coming through almost straight away. I instantly liked it and will buy. It is one of though scents you think this can be worn to work, party or intimate evening.
I smell a little sample from a Vanity Fair magazine, and after a few moments, all I could think is that is identical to Gucci Rush, it's nice but not my type of perfume.
Superb chypre!
I tried a sample today and although I'm fond of the original EDP, this is a very interesting development. It's similar to the Bottega Veneta EDP classic handbag leathery whiff minus a little of the 'hay' and with a tad more citrus.
MOST INTERESTINGLY - it could be an alternative to Mitsouko! It's 'not Mitsouko' but a sharper more citrus heavy version with a summery vibe. It's Mitsouko for people who love Mitsouko but fancy a change rather than another bottle of the same smell. It would also project magnificently on a man.
I'm quite smitten.
Hmm... What I am gonna say now is gonna be very weird.
I tested this today and on me it smells almost exactly the same as Ellen Tracy - Tracy.
They do not share any notes at all... yet they are so very similar on my skin.
And this might be a good thing for me, because I own ET, but unfortunately has no sillage/lastingpower on me at all, so this might be a wonderful alternative for me :)
I will definitely test it out again to see if I will then still feel the same about it (resemblence to ET). If it does I will surely add it to my wishlist.
It's a very crispy, clean and just... different scent that I happen to like a lot!!
I was very surprised to see this released so quickly in Australia, I obtained a sample from my local department store and was eager to test . I have been very close to buying the debut fragrance but never made the perchase.
Unfortunate for me this fragrance became headache inducing. Even after a shower and a rigorous soap up the scent still lingered on my skin , this I didn't mind so much. I simply can not tolerate this fragrance at full strength.
This is a lovely offering recalling soft leathery musk that reminded me somewhat of the smell inside my grandmothers dresser draws. But it is to persistant for me , It demanded to much of my attention and ended in throbing temples, I couldn't escape this scent for a single breath. I felt smothered by it. Perhaps I was to heavy handed with the application. I am amazed how I can still smell it after washing it off and 5 hours later it still lingers! Value for money ? I would say so. Suede suffocation, sadly
Sorry BV , I really wanted to love you. You are beautiful and I admire you, but a headache I can do without.
Be sure to test !
I was given a 5 ml sample and the first time I tried it, it turned to awful shampoo with heavy, acrid musk. I washed it off in the shower after trying and finding it unbearable for 20 minutes. It still didn't come off after scrubbing with castille soap. I have no idea why I had such an awful reaction to this fragrance, but it seems like all I get is musk, musk and musk with an oakmoss slap in the face. Sorry. The original BV didn't work for me either, which is strange, because usually leathery scents fit me well.
a refined perfume..a modern.. classy.. sophisticated.. harsh.. mean.. scent ..almost masucline.. with a leathery.. peppery.. accord. .full of musk.. and jasmine.. and gardenia.. in a discrete manner..its not a common perfume.. its unique ..in its own way.. it reminds me of ellen tracy ..the one from 2002.. there is something animalic in it ..its the kind of perfume that you either fall head over heels for.. or just disregard ..and forget about it..its a perfume for a university professor.. or a phd student..or an executive ceo.. its truly a sophisticated.. clean.. and warm scent.. its a skin scent.. it really depends on your skin chemistry ..i think guys love this on a woman.. for it portrays a masculine side to it.. which men find attractive..its a confident perfume.. hmmmm i dont know if i can call it a perfume.. its more of a potion or an elixir.. its not perfumee ..from the initial spray you might wonder why anyone will buy this.. but give it a second chance.. let it set in.. and develop ..and it will change in to something.. tantalizing.. wonderful.. or atleast unique.. and special.. and mesmerising.. under a subtle vail of strangeness.. and tranquility..

I LOVE it sooo much! For me it feels just like amzingly FRESH musk, if musk can be fresh:) My next buy definetely!
“passing the original fragrance through a waterfall" - it DOES smell so!
I tried it today and loved it. The creaminess of the original version smells curdled to me, like milk that's gone off. In this version the note reminds me of Bassett's Milk Gums - but fear not, it isn't sweet. The shampoo middle note comes in but doesn't erase the leather which gets stronger as time goes on. Close and snuggly, a joy to wear.
I tried this today, and I actually like it a lot! I was expecting something opulent and sweet, but instead I got surprised with sophisticated musk and white flowers. I also get a crisp leathery note, which I surprising like here much better than in Kelly Caleche where I found it sharp and cloying. BV Eau Legere brings to mind images of expensive leather mixed with perfume.... Its smells like a rich and refined young lady.
I actually tried it today, and i thought it is a nice one. It's fresher than the older version. So basicly lighter that the original one.
