Bruce Oldfield by Bruce Oldfield is a Floral fragrance for women. This is a new fragrance. Bruce Oldfield was launched in 2011. The fragrance features neroli, ylang-ylang, galbanum, amber, vanille, bergamot, rose and mimose.
Stumbled by this one by chance at my last visit to Liberty London. I was after a Mimosa based male floral and tried several: "Mimosa" by Annik Goutal (nice start but very quickly turns into an insipid vanilla/ wafer biscuit note), then "Mimosa pour moi" by L'Artisan Parfumeur: lovely warm genuine Mimosa but very linear.
Then sampled this and loved it straight away for it has a similar aldehydic, floral burst opening like CHANEL #5 EdT supported by pungent citrus/ bergamotte and neroli. Mimosa instantly shines through, not sweet and dusty, more airy, crisp, green and light (along the lines of "Cristalle" CHANEL) supported by Ylang-Ylang, carrying the story over to the heart note: Rose. The heart of this frag. A beautiful "floral quartet" in perfect harmony. (personally I would love to smell more Mimosa for longer)
Next chapter is the heart notes of Rose that radiates a fresh, crisp, aromatic rose, until the pungent Galbanum kicks in and creates a bit of a reprise, reminiscent of "Anais Anais" (Cacharel) probably together with the Neroli? Yes, there is definitely a moment in the development of this fragrance than distinctively reminds me of Cacharel.
Interestingly, Luca Turin recommends the former Cacharel as a good floral male scent and while I have tried "Anais-Anais" on my skin (I love it); this one works better for me.
Summarizing the concoction ends in a warm amber with some vanilla, though very faint.
All in all a great invigourating, fresh new floral, definitely UNISEX in my view and probably also very good for "Layering".
British house FLORIS is responsible for the production and I thought that both the classic 1970's retro styling/ packaging as well as good quality materials used makes this a rather well-deserved top notch debut for Bridal Designer Bruce Oldfield!
