Oud possesses a great cultural significance because of its use in traditional incense and perfumes, and it is also mentioned in one of the world's oldest written texts - the Sanskrit Vedas from India. When the once light Aquilaria tree heartwood becomes infected with a specific type of mold, it defends itself with a dark and fragrant protective resin. This now dark wood, oud or agarwood, holds a complex fragrance, resembling few or no other natural ingredients.
Oud Immortel is a chypre woody fragrance that merges patchouli and papyrus so the whole composition has a smoky character. Tobacco leaf and moss contribute to the depth and complexity of oud, while rosewood and incense cause the elegant silage on skin.
Its is available as Eau de Parfum in 50 ml and 100 ml bottles.
Oud Immortel was launched in 2010.

I came across this gem, whilst looking for something else. I tried it and I believe it was love at first sniff. But i had to be sure, I took home a sample and I wore it that night to a club. I didn't get any compliments, but it smelled great, and it gave me that cosy, warm feeling. Others be damned.
I really like this scent! When I was in the store I first liked Beaudelaire, but got a little bit disappointed then it dried down. But Oud Immortel became more interesting when it dried down. Almost like Beaudelaire when it is just sprayed is like Oud Immortal when it is dried down.
It smells like fertilizer for plants plus the candied strawberry-patchouli mixture of Rabanne Black XS. The scent doesn´t make me feel comfortable at no point in the full wearing.
maybe is just me but I fail to see the point of this composition.
In the beginning there's a burst of incense, sweetened by the immortelle. It lasts for a while, then the oud note takes its place in the middle of the scene, and the incense sits in the back, always present. Oud and immortelle start singing a lovely song on your skin for a long time, which is divine, if you like the outcome. I'm not crazy about it: very good effort, not worth buying.
Sigh... still on the prowl for an incense good as, or hopefully better, than in Fahrenheit Absolute. So far, either it's depressingly churchy (yes, Comme des garcons line and Cardinal by James Heeley, I'm looking at you) or not so interesting...
Edit: if you're looking for the perfect incense note, check Exultat or Gershwin by Maria Candida Gentile!
absolutely fantastic !!! beautifull !!!
this is my next one !!! and smels very, very long time...
This is an extremely heavy fragrance. I went to the Byredo counter. It seemed like something I might like and did 3 full sprays on myself. It's probably the tobacco note that lured me to it. Boy did I regret it fifteen minutes later.
First of all it's quite masculine and second, very imposing. I just felt overwhelmed by its pungent quality. The cardamom is very loud and the patchouli-oak moss combination is frankly an overkill to my nose. It has a lot of depth and weight due to the incense and oud. There is a bit of sweetness as well.
I imagine a very self confident man pulling it off with style, but it's too aggressive for my taste.
This is a strong oud-theme perfume, a little spicy, with emphasis on the synthetic woody aspect, but it’s also a typical “men’s cologne” scent, making me think there’s some citrus and lavender in it.
Initially there are some odd metallic and sweet fruity notes and a good bit of patchouli. After a while, I smell some leather. There’s a huge amount of sillage from just a tiny dab, and it’s long-lasting, at least 12 hours on skin. I think what I perceive as sweet and fruity must be the immortelle.
As it dries down, the spices become sharper, so that by the end it’s mostly a cardamom-scented wood. Nice, but it would never become a favorite oud scent.
to my nose, this is exactly the same with baudelaire....it is unbelievable how similar they are. I had the impression that i was wearing the same perfume....same start, same end, same feeling.
OI opens with a considerable dose of Limoncello (with its tipycal creamy-sweet-citrus aroma) mixed with the characteristic Byredo's bitter note that immediately reminded me of M/Mink. In this phase, the overall effect wasn't really appealing to my nose but at the same time I wasn't ready to scrub it off yet as I was somehow intrigued by something that was going on in the back. After a bunch of minutes I realized that cardamom and oud were working together with a remarkable dose of patchouli to create a very interesting blend. A slightly medicinal vibe surrounds the fragrance throughout while incense and oakmoss add extra depth and consistency. A bold scent with an amazing lasting power and a great sillage.
Overall Oud Immortel is a well done composition, perfectly unisex, that worths at least a try if you're into bold Ouds. Personally I'm not completely satisfied as the Limoncello opening is definitely unappealing to my nose. Anyway I would still consider it as a serious contendant if just a little cheaper.
Rating: 6.5-7/10
I can't make my mind about it: I liked it very much in the beginning and bought the big bottle at once. After several days I found the scent to imposing. The lasting power exceeds 12 hours. On my skin it smells VERY green and not sweet at all. This is one of the reasons why I now layer it with Sables from Annick Goutal (that contains also an immortel note) to make it warmer and a little more sweet. I get a lot of positive comments when combining these two EDT
Uchh.. the oud is there, but far too sweet, almost sugary. With your body chemistry it may be different of course.
This is one awesome oud fragrance. It's warm, smooth, and quite sensually sexy. It's got a sweet spot but not too feminine. Similar fragrance that I can think of would be Bond No.9 Signature in gold bottle, but this Byredo is more woody and less sweet oriental. Furthermore, the patchouli also make it very distinctive as well, and it lasts forever. I am talking about 10+ hours in a right condition. I highly recommend for those who seeks warm oriental oud scent.
Oud of Byredo is much better than Oud of Amouage or the Oud of by Kilian. It's really warm and quality perfumes. I think that the price is perfect for the niche perfume that doesn't disappear after 2 hours, like a lot of much more expensive perfumes do.
