Calè setted a very high standard with their compositions (Mistero, Perludio D'Oriente, Fulgor, Assolo) but Dolce Riso is quite a disappointment. A fruity/citrusy opening turning into a sweeter and somehow scratchy woody/ambery drydown that's not so far from a bunch of fragrances from the Baldessarini's Del Mar serie. Nothing special and it definitely doesn't worth the price tag.

The fragrance opens with a burst of red apples - but I can also detect some sweet cherry-blossoms...very Japanse, so to speak - and very sweet and verrrry tender. When you think, "Wow, what a lovely start - how is this gonna go on?" you are soon breathing in the aroma of steamed thai-rice (NOT basmati-rice!) and after a couple of minutes, you are already led to the base which is not as soft as you might have expected. On the contrary, the base is harsh and I seem to detect some unpleasant screechy note in it. Thus this scent has a wonderful start, but a disappointing ending - and after 30 min you wonder where it's all gone... - you are left with nearly nothing at all - just a faint whisper of some woody base commonly used in male fragrances.
I like my rice-dishes much spicier and more substantial. This "Dolce riso" is not even suitable as a dessert ... it's a cute little appetizer which leaves you with an empty stomach.
4 out of 10 points on my personal scale.
This is a nice sweet and fresh scent. More suitable for females, definitely, although its marketed as unisex, I really don't think men will want to wear this. You smell the apple and sweet lime first. Soon it starts smelling like a rice pudding, a cold one though, not hot, because the lime keeps the fragrance as a whole in the 'cool' arena. I dont smell much pepper so dont let that put you off if you hate pepper. The worst thing about this whole line is that they are EDT's which is really quite disappointing for exclusive scents at a decent price point they really should all be EDP's, anyway, this will not last you all day, you must touch up. By the time the base notes show up this has gotten very soft and I can only smell it if I stick my nose to myself. I would wear this fragrance on a Sunday afternoon picnic or lighthearted drinks with the girls. It's not a 'sexy' scent as such but its quite foody so I think it would be popular with gourmand lovers like me.
