Obsession for Men by Calvin Klein is a oriental woody fragrance for men. Obsession for Men was launched in 1986. The nose behind this fragrance is Bob Slattery. Top notes are coriander, lavender, mandarin orange, grapefruit and bergamot; middle notes are nutmeg, carnation, jasmine, sage, brazilian rosewood, pine tree needles and myrrh; base notes are amber, sandalwood, amber, patchouli, musk, vanilla and vetiver.

I have come to think that the "rotting" note in Obsession is the combination of Lavender and Vanilla, I get this in some other scents with these two together, maybe the percentage of each is important?

This is a very sexy scent, I smell a nice woody harmony with cinnamon and incense, warm and powerful.

This is a very powerful cologne. Lasts for hours. A little splash on the finger to apply goes a long, long way. The atomizer sprays out way too much and is too strong. Even a mist in the air is too much. This used to be my fav when it first came out, but then everyone started wearing it (LOL). Maybe the rotting meat fragrance is coming from the musk? Musk is really enhanced/changed by people's natural odor.

I caught a whiff of this last week, on someone at work. I don't know why it always reminds me of rotting meat. But nicely sweetened rotten meat. Perhaps it's the French "purdeur" thing or whatever it's called -- that touch of something stinky. And it seems to work, because ironically, I find that it's always the cutest guys who are wearing this unmistakable stinky scent.
