Secret Obsession by Calvin Klein is oriental floral fragrance for women. The noses behind this fragrance are Givaudan and Ann Gottlieb. Top notes are exotic plum, nutmeg (mace) and rose de damasc; middle notes are Egyptian jasmine, French orange blossom and seductive tuberose; base notes are cashmere woods, Madagascar vanilla, burnt amber and Australian sandalwood.
It comes in 30ml (1.0fl.oz), 50ml (1,6flo.oz) and 100ml (3,4fl.oz) bottles, and as prefumed body lotion 200ml (6,7fl.oz.), and shower gel 200ml (6,7fl.oz).
Launching of Secret Obsession fragrance is announced for September 2008. including Eva Mendes in new provocative campaign.
The campaign for the fragrance Secret Obsession has already caused a lot of fuzz. Commercial showing Eva with impure thoughts emphasizes provocation with Eva's sexy voice which tells all her sexual secrets. TV networks and advertisers did not like the commercial, precisely because of too accentuated sexual implementations.
Print campaign was created in black and white version with Eva in passionate rapture on the photographs. It is mentioned by the house CK that the video commercial tells the whole story, while print form of photographs can capture just one moment of passion. Fashion and lifestyle magazines will publish the commercial from September 2008.
And what did Eva Mendes say about the perfume when she tried it? 'When I first tried Secret Obsession, I was completely taken over by it. When you first try some kind of food and you instantly have a craving for another bite – that is exactly how I felt when I tried the perfume Secret Obsession.

Secret Obsession is a very lovely fragrance , warm but not that sweet . Plum note is discreet , so it is definitely not gourmand . I really love nutmeg and I tend to overdose it in recipes that require it making disasters :-)
The sad aspect of this perfume is its poor longevity , very poor on my dry skin. I can soak myself in it but the lovely smell lasts no more than one hour . I am sure I am going to wear it while preparing my meatballs so I do not put too much nutmeg on them : I will sniff my wrists instead :-)
Sexy and so warm. I feel both cozy and sexy when I put this on and it lasts very well on me compared to many fragrances but is always subtle right from the start. I do love sandalwood, but I can't stand vanilla in a fragrance so don't worry - you won't notice vanilla.
Fantastic review Night Work!!
The lasting power is just average, and sillage is mild to moderate, but to my own nose this is one of the sexiest scents I've come across. The rich amber, spices, white florals, woods, and ofcourse there's that sexual plum note that teases...mmmm. I sense vanilla there, but barely, so it's not sweet at all, which is refreshing. Warm, rich, and it also makes me think of incense and fine soaps (in the best way possible, not cheap head-shop). Simply unique when you compare it to the other 'sexy' scents released within the past decade. A little black dress scent to wear to dinner when you want to feel sensual, womanly and raw, but in an understated, elegant manner. I can't really imagine this on a younger woman below 25 unless she's the kind who's cultured and mature for her age, or perhaps she's dating a sophisticated gentleman-type in his 30's or 40's, this is what I'd picture her wearing when she's with him. This is a scent that makes me feel like I'm ready for seduction and it's all about me, so it's not something I like on myself in the early stages of dating someone, and it's not something that I reach for alot, It requires a certain mood/occasion/style for me to feel right wearing it...it's not 'loud' enough to make a statement, nor is it 'friendly' enough to wear on a regular basis. When I'm not in the mood for it, I find the combination of notes abit 'scratchy', not enough to put me off SO, but layering this scent over some jasmine or vanilla scented lotion smooths it out. Nevertheless, I like to always have a bottle in my collection, even if just a small bottle. Anyways, try before you buy, it won't please everyone.
This is a fairly straightforward, full-bodied rose on me, with hints of sandalwood, jasmine, and mild spice. I'm not sure if I am completely sold yet, but on first test it is interesting and seductive, and not unpleasant. I think what others say here about taking the time to understand this particular frag holds true. I'm intrigued; a little reticent, yet eager, compelled even, to find out more.
I don't like it. it was blind buying and I thought it would smell as Omnia some smoky and spicy. Bu it was terrible on me. I feel I'm an old fashioned boring grandmother when I use it. It have been 3 years since I bought it and couldn't finished yet. I think I have to give it someone as a present.
I just had the chance to test this scent,... I have to say that I really like it! I don't understand why it has so many dislikes?! I really do like it and it can be found for a great price as well! I think I'm gonna get me my own secret obsession!! :)
Got it on a countdown sale and it had some of the notes I love, so it was my first blind buy. Very unusual scent which I wouldn't buy off the bat if I smelled it on paper in a department store. But I still tried it on my skin. I could say it's an acquired taste, it sort of grows on me. I especially like to wear this after an evening bath, since the scent calms me instead of picks me up. I like it but wouldn't wear it outside, since my no. 1 critic (my 4 year old boy) hates the smell! I'm guessing sandalwood doesn't do much for me.
Delicious! I love, love spicy nutmeg and sandalwood! Secret Obsession comes out of the bottle a blast of nutmeg, sandalwood then tuberose. Honestly, it didn't morph into anything else which was fine by me. It is a very sensual perfume. What can I say...it just lovely. My only disappointment is it just doesn't last that long. This is a perfume I want to wear and smell all day but it just won't without a touchup mid day.
Happy Perfuming! ♥
This perfume requires a bit more patience to understand....not one of those instant like/love experience. The more I use it, the more I can appreciate the unique blend. I smell nutmeg the strongest --from opening to drydown. Then the Jasmine and Sandalwood come in at the heart and takes you to a more powdery drydown. I've decided that I like it enough to keep it as I want to have a range of notes in my collection. Might even be a bit unisex frag. Best for autumn/winter days.
The Ghost of Christmas Past! :))))))))
Like marmite, you either love this or hate this.
This is definitely not a delicate scent, but very sexy and unusual for powerful or curious women.
Men would be all over you on the dancefloor that's for sure.
I like it!
The smell reminds of 80's/90's perfumes sold at department stores or pharmacies. It has a very strong powdery, incense scent-even though incense isn't listed as one of the notes.
It has amazing lasting power like all other Calvin Klein perfumes in my experience
This is the most awful perfume, that i have ever smelled. I bought it on internet for my mother, bottle looked nice, so i thougth it is suitable for her. I thought that this is an oriental fragrance, more softer. But it smelled so bad, even my mother didnt like it. Perfume didnt changed in dry out, just boring strange smell. Too strong, I think my grandmom would like it.
I almost didn't buy this perfume because of all the negative reviews the fragrance has got but I'm glad that I went with my gut instinct and bought it anyway. It was a blind buy that was successful! I find the scent very warm and smooth. It doesn't have a lot of depth but it's so comforting to wear that I don't care that it's somewhat linear. Wearing this scent makes you feel like you're all wrapped up in a warm blanket! The lasting power could be better as it is pretty faint by the end of the day but I can still catch very light whiffs of it here and there and I quite enjoy it! This is one of the most unisex smelling ladies perfume I have ever smelled. Could easily be labeled as a men's cologne. It's not a "love" for me but definitely a solid "like!"
This perfume smells lovely...a warm, woody floral. I guess it works with my body chemistry. I was afraid to buy it because of the bad reviews but I found a bottle for $15 at Marshall's and thought, "What the heck." I'm glad I took a chance on it.
I layered with my Oriflame Love Potion today and it was a beautiful combination. It really brings out the cacao and tangerine notes of Love Potion.
I really wanted to like this - everything in the notes seemed like something I could wear so I purchased it blind - no go. It smelled like air freshener on me, really sharp and industrial, no one note stood out, but had a floral "tang" to it. I gave it to my teenage daughter and it smelled DIVINE on her. Woody, green, floral, powdery. Grrr. Merry Christmas, kiddo.
I discovered this fragrance three years ago. I really, really love it ! It smells so good on me, it's the perfect combination of oriental and floral. It has moderate lasting power. It's a seductive fragrance.
This was for sale when I was at a department store. I tested it and was really suprised; it reminds me of the East and incense! This is really a love-hate fragrance and with the right chemistry this is incredibly sexy. On me it smells oriental and spicy, very nice!
I am a fan of perfumes that don't fade away after the first couple of hours, and this one makes the cut. Some may say it's strong but I don't find it so. It just has staying power, and people can actually smell it on you-- why buy a perfume that no one will be able to smell? Anyway, I detect feminine white florals, wood and plum, all of which I LOVE. Thumbs up!
Glad the previous poster mentioned ylang ylang, I definitely get that too. I mostly get a tiny hint of tobacco and plenty plummy fruit and tuberose, though tobacco doesn't seem to be there in the ingredients.
I felt this wasn't really 'me' - it's quite powerful in the tuberose dept' to my nose, but I'm the type who wears simple woody green perfumes better as they turn quite sweet on me. Flowers and fruit are tricky (except fig).
I think it's pretty sexy. There's something sophisticated about it and I can't see it suiting a very young woman unless she had a confident sensuality.
An older man found this sexy on me, I was sitting in a boardroom meeting and he inhaled my perfume with obvious appreciation, he was a very well educated and cultured sort. I was wearing the perfume with a plain chocolate coloured cashmere dress and big red-glass love heart earrings and I'd just sneaked out for a cigarette (maybe he was trying to give up and that was the appreciative sniff!) but he definitely pursued me after that a bit, but was married so no cigar(ette) for him or me! Maybe this is a good seduction perfume if you want an illicit affair!
It seems that a lot of notes are not mentoined here in the notes profile, these notes need to be added:
- orange flower
- orchid
- ylang ylang
- cedar wood
- worm wood
- cashmere wood
- orris root
No wonder I adore this one so much!! So much of my favorite notes!!
There was an open box of Secret Obsession at Ross and I was able to test it, twice! Both times I was tempted. At first it is a very pleasant spicy, woody scent in a very nice heavy glass bottle. Sort of Obsession-lite. And I love Obsession.
However, both times it faded very quickly to a still pleasant, but unremarkable, fruity vanilla skin scent. Still a little woody, a little spicy, but really nothing special. I opted for Joop Femme, 3.4 oz for under $30 USD. Much bigger bang for the buck...though if they discount SO for less than $20, I may re-think it.
I'm not a fan of CK. I admit that they might have a single scent in their collection that I haven't yet smelled but the field has been narrowed over the years. BUT - this one was a blind buy in a supermarket and I was really surprised that I liked more than just the bottle. It's spicy and Ilike that.
@ unquecoco .. just LOL :D can not stop laughing
I just wanted to state again that although this perfume didnt make it, it is a gorgeous gorgeous perfume!! It is sooo chic and sexy! Please do not let yourself be discouraged, if you are a lover of Bvlgari Jasmin Noir, TF Black Orchid VdF, you must must have this in that range of perfumery... Just gorgeous!
Just picked this up today at my TJ Maxx, a 1.7oz EDP for 19.99 which IMO was an appropriate price - I would not have paid more to try this (blind buy). I am very glad I took a chance on it - I'm really diggin' it <3<3
I've been on an CK Obsession kick lately, recently purchased a 15ml early 2000's re-form of Obsession as well as a 90's version of original Obsession (have not received that one yet. The reform is actually not bad; but I digress). Regarding Secret Obsession, first off I like the color of the box-the coppery/bronze washed color is very appealing to the eye, mysterious looking.
The bottle itself feels very good in my hands. The "genie bottle" made of amber colored glass is heavy. It doesn't feel or look cheap at all.
On to the juice itself. I like it very much...dare I say LOVE! the opening on me is rather fresh and mildly spicy. I mostly get rose and some sweetness from the plum. I typically do not like rose scented perfumes unless they smell very "fresh" and realistic, this fits that description.I really don't detect the nutmeg per say but that must be where the mildly spicy note is coming from. i love to cook and I know what nutmeg smells like so I definately don't think it's overpowering at all,it's subtle and blended well. As it blooms into the heart the tuberose appears which is heaven to my nose as I ADORE the scent of tuberose in all it's glory, sweet beauty. I really don't detect much orange blossom but the jasmine blends nicely with the tuberose, but not overpoweringly so. Dry down is "da bomb" I am a sucker for frags that combine amber, sandalwood and vanilla; the addition of cashmere woods is a treat because it adds a powderiness that just softens the sweetness and rounds out the base.
Sillage is decent, about a 2 foot projection for the first three hours then it starts to get closer to the skin. Longevity could be better, 6+ hours but by the fifth hour it is quite soft and I can barely smell it. I have to add a disclaimer though and that is my skin literally drinks perfume - even sillage monsters don't last very long on me. So I'd have to say that this is pretty good, but I should mention that I used 5 heavy sprays ( yes, I'm one of those people..as one reviewer put it "I want people to SEE my scent trail" probably not very PC according to the allergy police but I just can't help it - I LOVE to smell great and I want to be able to smell myself too. All in all I have to say this was a very nice fragrance for the money and it will definately get some play in my scent rotation this fall.
As some have said, it is sharp at first but if you like spicy, ambery scents it may be something that interests... It dries down on me with a development of spice and flowers. Unfortunately, the longevity isn't very long on my skin but I can pick it up my sleeve. I get some cinnamon which may be the nutmeg and I do get an odd sweetness as time went on, perhaps being the plum.
I take it from the rest of the reviews that this works very differently from person to person and it even dries down unique to each wearer, so it may be best to sample before committing.
this perfume to me smells almost exactly like Ellen Tracy in the opening and it stays like this for quite a while. no cinnamon and more white florals, but to my nose, very similar. Here the plum replaces the familiar peach of ET. It is not very original or sexy on me, but it is a pleasant fragrance to wear on a cold night.
I like it, it's soft, ambery, warm and floral and I do not understand why so many people find it offensive or how it can be a scrubber. It is pretty tame and discreet on me. But it all depends on chemistry of course. (I scrubbed off ALL of the DKNY be delicious line so far and it is one of the most popular line ever. So obviously, perfume is a personal thing! and that's a good thing.)
cant wait for winter . when this becomes pretty much the only thing i reach out for... mayb alongside jpg classique edp, and ck euphoria
Secret obsession is either something you will love or hate. I bought it blind as it was half price on strawberry net, but I personally dont like it due to its very mature initial notes. The opening is very spicy/woody and very strong. Nutmeg and other spices are very evident, no rose. Throughout the scent the only time that i liked it was the dry down which was alot mellower and had a nice plum and white floral vanilla smell. The silage is very good however, it lasts forever and the day after i can smell the dry down very strongly.
Give me the original any day! this smells like grape juice and cocacola on my skin.
Ok, first let me say I do love me some oriental/spicy scents. However, this one just didn't work. I don't know what the heck it was, this old, woody pencil stink came off it that confused me. This is perfume?!? I said. It was on for cheap at the store so I bought it blindly, thinking hey what a bargoon. Little did I know...too bad I didn't know about Fragrantica then or I could have traded it, so some lucky binner probably got to fish it out of the trash. Yuck.
It smells luxe yet cozy. A sleek little black dress scent. I would wear this to a fancy dinner or an upscale jazz lounge, or even a couple of spritzes before bedtime. The flacon is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen. It starts off sharp, and dries down to a very warm and woodsy base (lots and lots of amber and sandalwood). The tuberose here is quite dominant and has a plush velvety texture, spiced with nutmeg, slightly sweetened by plum. I'm not getting any vanilla at all. It does smell soapy, like the most expensive soap money can buy. On me the scent stays fairly linear after the first few minutes of sharpness. Lasts about 5 hours with decent sillage, but stays close to the skin for another few hours. Best for night-time and cold-weather. It's a warming scent and about as comforting as soaking in a hot scented bath after spending a cold day outdoors, and then wrapping your clean, warm body in your thickest and fluffiest bathrobe afterwards. Sensual.
Starts very promising with a blast of tuberose, plum and nutmeg but within 30 minutes fades into barely perceptible "meh" and completely disappears before the two hour mark. It could be a winner if it was louder and lasted longer. It can be bought very cheap on Ebay ( under $20), but that's how much it is really worth considering the quality. I will stick to CK shoes and clothes...he never disappoints in that department.
Edit: it smells wonderful layered over Molinard Ambre....the amber base really ampliifies its sillage and longevity.
my own personal skin chemistry is very good. I've been able to pull of even the strongest of perfumes, or even men's fragrances! This one, is quite horrible. I don't think i've tried a stronger scent than this one. When I first sprayed it it got me nauseated and the dry down is exactly the same as the first spray. It's really very horrible.
I like this one . It's very mature , nutmeg plays the leading role in it as well as musk and some balmy and smoky notes. this is the only one this sort of fragrance on my shelf amongst all of my sweet perfume bottles.
I got to like it when I could smell it all around me in my mum's house. yes it is very spicy, herbal and smoky fragrance but those notes are composed superbly in my opinion. This is a very good perfume for an winter evening.
...i bought it blind,on sale, and i'm a little dissapointed. it remind me a grandma fragance, too strong and out of fashion. i spended my money!
this is TERRIBLE!!!..omg! it was a blind purchase (that explains everything)..smells like vomit on my skin.. LITERALLY..yuck!
i had to return it..nasty, nasty nasty nasty!!!
First off, I was given this perfume by an ex so obviously I will no longer wear it lol. However, since the first spray I didn't like it, yet he said he loved how it smelled (he also hated how all my other perfumes smelled...and he was psychotic so he may have wanted me to smell awful to scare off other men haha) Let me get onto my review though...
So this is definitely oriental and spicy in my opinion. I think I hate oriental and spicy perfumes, so right there there was no chance of me liking this perfume. However, if you love spicy/oriental you will probably LOVE this. I don't know, I feel it's a scent better suited for late twenties and older. I'm 22 and I just felt it was too strong for me. On my skin, this stayed extremely spicy and strong and did not dry down to anything else at all. Spicy and strong...all day. I mean all day. If you are looking for longevity in a perfume, this definitely takes the cake. Personally, I found it very overwhelming and it actually made me feel sick. I have never said that about any other perfume because I'm not prone to migraines etc, and perfumes usually don't bother me even if I hate how they smell. I don't know, I think men may love this sort of scent, but if I want to stick my head out of a window for fresh air when wearing a perfume, I don't care how good it might smell to a man...I'm not wearing it. Try it for yourself is all I can say. I read some others' reviews and they said it had a nice drydown on them. I'm sure I simply have messed up skin and 98% of perfumes don't work on me. But this is my honest experience of this fragrance, so if this happens to you then I guess we could be in a "perfumes stink on me club" together.
I can't seem to wear Calvin Klein perfumes. They never work with my chemistry, so I knew I was taking a big chance in buying this one, but the notes were so intriguing. Luckily, Secret Obsession did not let me down. It's nothing like the original Obsession.
I didn't find Secret Obsession to be masculine at all. The top notes smell strongly of nutmeg, woods, and plum. It might be rich and spicy at first, but it quickly becomes 100% feminine. After 20 minutes I could only smell a fresh peach-like scent, tuberose, and jasmine. I would likely wear it during spring or summer. The spice is much too fleeting for me to think of it as an autumn fragrance.
___________________
Update: I've been wearing this a lot. I have to spray like ten sprays to really smell it, and I only get spice for like the first 30 seconds. It's a very feminine perfume and reminds me of John Varvatos in a way, because of it's richness and plummy notes.
Warm, Modern Spices & Florals
I, like others, expected Secret Obsession to relate somehow to Calvin Klein's Obsession. It doesn't. Thankfully, I am able to roll with it when reality doesn't meet my expectations; therefore, I was pleasantly surprised when I smelled Secret Obsession.
The lightly spiced warm fruit is softened immediately by the velvety rose. There is no bright citrus at the beginning to shock your senses, which I find ironically refreshing and unique. The use of plum, light spice, and flowers provides enough of a peculiar surprise to catch your interest upon spraying.
In the middle, the heavier white flowers, namely tuberose and jasmine, appear and carry Secret Obsession through most of the wearing. All the while, the warm base notes (vanilla, amber, and sandalwood) ground the fragrance and help transition between the fresh-spicy, dark fruits and heady white florals. The chosen base notes keep Secret Obsession from being too sweet, musky, or grassy. They provide just a warm, soft, pulse for the remainder of the wearing.
A couple others have mentioned that Secret Obsession could be worn by men. I agree. I think the nutmeg makes it possible by covering the floral duration and dropping the wearer off at the base notes, which are easily worn by men and women.
Performance-wise, I would say Secret Obsession is one notch up from a skin scent. It has a little bit more projection than, say, Dolce & Gabbana The One.
Longevity was just a little short on me. After 4 hours or so, I wanted to reapply, for the fragrance was very, very light.
I really enjoy this perfume. It smells smokey, spicy with a hint of vanilla, and I find it rather sexy. It is quite masculine/androgynous, which adds to the allure.
HOWEVER the head notes smell quite musty on the first spray, which is a little disappointing considering I find Secret Obsession to be sexy. On me, the lasting power and projection are average. I want people to notice this, dammit!
SECOND REVIEW
i am wearing it again today...as usual it plays magic on my skin... i layered it with sjp lovely but hasnt changed its vibe all tht much at all...its just absolutely breathtaking ..... i literally sniff it in until i cant hold my breath anymore..
it conjures very loving fuzzy tickling effects in me almost makes me feel loved spoilt and celebrated..
like bright warm morning sunshine wakes u up next to somebody you have known forever..its not a typical sexy smell at all. most udnt even find it sexy but i actually see how it can be very sexy..obviously completely based on how u define sexy.. i ud love to wear it around my boyfreind of 8 years with whom i feel home... its that kind of sexiness... not extreme wildness or excitement between unknown strangers...but a lot of untold promises, peaceful reassurance in just one look, faith and belongingness that can also build up to intense overwhelming physical passion..very true and eternal in its essence
simply put - toasted spices sprinkled on sweeet tangy fruits dipped in creamy salty vanilla (may be the salty vanilla is burnt amber.which plays big here..it plays tricks with my brain or maybe nose.i cant tell the difference from vanilla sorry)
Love love love love, from the first blast of fresh floral down to the end. I am so glad I found it for $19.99 and TJ Maxx. I might even think of stocking up.
ok with the Nutmeg in this one I was hoping for a good spicy fall scent. How can u go wrong with plum, rose and nutmeg?.....oh u can!!! this just smells like the mens version of obsession. I am having a hard time believing this was made in 2008 it smells like something that was made in the 80's, as if they just started making perfume and didn't yet know how to make anything extraordinary. It is heavy, has no....no nothing, it says "i do not know how to make perfume" to whoever threw this together.
Eek, nutmeg and sandalwood! I have to say: I used to love this. Before I knew anything about perfume (and when I was too young to know better) I used to think it was sexy/spicy. Well, ok, it is sort of spicy in a waaay (the nutmeg!) but mostly it is sandalwood, amber, and I have to say, I smell civet! Kind of like a faint whiff of animal urine. Sorry, but this is just waaay too heavy. Not sexy... animalistic and heavy and nauseating.
I'm 22 years old, purchased this fragrance yesterday and wow!! I love it!! I'm absolutely amazed on how amazing this perfume smells!! it's like fresh, sweet, warm and flowery all in one bottle so glad I bought this!!
I found a sample vial of this hiding at the back of my drawer the other day-I have no idea where it came from;spooky!
It's a perfume that's been on my "to try" list for a while( probably been at the back of my drawer all that time)so I exitedly dabbed it on and waited for the magic to happen.
And happen it did.
This little beauty reeks of my teenage years and I don't know why.It smells like something either I or my sister or my mum used to wear in the late 70s/early 80s.
Now,anyone who knows me knows how I love to wallow in the past so a perfume time-machine is like heaven on earth to me,especially in these days when many of our old favourites are being discontinued or supposedly "improved".
It has a spring-like flowery almondy scent with power and longevity typical of a disco-age fragrance and it makes me feel warm and comforted.
It will very probably become my springtime signature.
I love this perfume, its smell just like Serge Lutens Boxeuses. When I wear it you can smell where I have been. Great to have a smell thats a wee bit different.
i learned about it the first time from an acquaintance who is insane for this perfume..so i decided to give it a shot..
...question is why does everyone seem to dislike this soo much? i think the most plausible explanation is its not like all the other perfumes out there and also..its really not for everybody..it takes a strong woman with personality to pull it off..i dont necessarily mean old..i mean spirituality, wisdom, elegance, sophistication, sense of judgement and maturity tht tend to come with experiencing life..u also definitely cant b the one who prefers to live by the trend..
now my take on this perfume..
i myself dn like the opening very much..but somehow i just get lulled into wearing it almost everyday in this winter
i hv my neighbour in my dorm who is a straight woman but still essentially loses her mind each and every time she smells this on me in the shared kitchen
i love the fact tht u cnt smell it from miles away..my bf cnt stand perfumes period esp those tht announce themselves...but with this he never seems to be annoyed even wen hez really close...
its also probably bcoz it plays really well on my skin...its very fruityspicy on me....
for me it plays the fine line between innocent young and dangerous and sexy..nt a lot of flowers which most ppl experience...
i love putting it on under my clothes with a few quick sprays just so it lingers for the enire day or night..also i dnt spray it around the neck since it can b strong suffocating tht way..i spray around my tummy or chest elbow coz then it gets a chance to rise upwards gracefully ...i use it wen i go out but mostly at the end of the day after shower..
pls ppl give it a chance on ur skin and see how it plays out..dn b discouraged by the comments..who knws u might carry it much better than most others :)
This one probably has a lot to do with chemistry. I finally got up the courage to test this one. (Something about the brown plastic bottle said, "Nothing in here can smell good. Give up.") But, it's a cheap oriental! I absolutely had to try.
The Verdict? Nutmeg and Jasmine are questionable bedfellows.
Nutmeg contains poisonous compounds that are negligible when the raw material is used sparingly in cooking, but can kill a man when distilled. That "off" chemical note in nutmeg is amplified when paired with Jasmine and sandalwood which, when ingested, are poisonous all the time. Secret Obsession is a bitter floral, more repellant than enticing.
CK Obsession is one of my favourite and I was thrilled, that it came in new line, maybe lighter, more suitable for day wearing. I was extremally dissapointed when I felt it on the blotter. Flowery and fruity blah blah, why CK is calling this miserable orphan after THE Obsession...
Few months later I bought small bottle of this on-line, because it was crazy cheap, and I'm bargain victim. It was perfectly suitable for my purse, so I told myself 'give it a chance, maybe it will be nice to wear at work'. After few days I have accepted plum as an opening, after all I like plum. Then I have found delicious nutmeg somewhere in between. After few months I found the bottle empty, and begun to miss it's dry down. It's quite simillar to my natural skin scent, it blends lovely.
I have my huge bottle, and find this scent very easy to wear. It's not my champion. But it's afordable, easy to find, people don't find it distractive or offensive. It all happen to make it Secret Obsession. I really like this one, have to use it quite often, even if it's not easy to admit, and I'd rather to keep it in secret.
I'd always loved the original Obsession and thought that I wouldn't like Secret Obsession because of my loyalty to the original. Well, I'm glad to say that I love this one just as much. I'd put off buying it since it's inception and I'm so happy I changed my mind. It starts out very strong (I smell roses and jasmine) and then develops a beautiful clean, powdery (I also smell cinnamon at this point) and sweet scent. It's absolutely gorgeous! I can understand how people don't like it first off because it is rather strong. Don't let that stop you! Give it time to settle and mature on your skin. It's worth it!
This was so heavy I swear I almost passed out! Yikes! I gave it away as fast as I could - still reeling from the memory...
i still don't understand why girls don't like it!!!!.... it's amazing what it is.. i got it few years ago while i was in England from Harrods shop .. it's so classy perfume and so strong , very good long lasting.. actually with all my respect for the other brands as my dad has a pharmacy and i have all the perfumes in the world but unfortunately it's only very few perfumes which i can use no matter what the brand's name.. most of them r horrible which i dn't knw how women can use it!!.. it's so damn sexy one perfect for night time .. good luck everyone..
"Secret Obsession" - I developed an obsession against that smell ... Heavy perfume, makes me sick, I do not like myself when I put it on me. So, I tried again to get used to it but without success. Although the sophisticated smell - I could not connect with this perfume.
I blind bought this because of the name. I got it really cheap at the drugstore: 20€ for 50ml! Great deal. I didn't expect much but this is really nice!
It's very spicy and woodsy. The lasting power is average. To me this is not sexy. It's different and oriental, so I like it. But the marketing is indeed misleading... I don't feel particulary sexy when wearing this. The bottle design is amazing. Very special and I love it for on my vanity!
It was a nice buy for the price I paid.
Wow... when I sniffed this before.. I did not like it at all!! Went into the drugstore to pick up a different (on sale) beauty... and well I had to test this one ... one more time.. and I am sure glad I did! It is a strong perfume so you dont need much.. but its a fantastic scent for fall/winter.. very warm and spicy..
Wierdly, it does develope to smell like one of my favorite stores... "LUSH" that certain type of fragrance when u walk in there,.,. but with a little more depth.. Im lovin' it!!!
This fragrance is good enough as oriental fragrance.
Most of all I feel the burnt amber note, the plum note, the tuberose note, the Damascus rose note and the nutmeg note in it.
First I didn't like it, because it seemed a little bit salty to me. As I understand, because of the burnt amber note. But than I started to like it.
This fragrance really seems to me mysterious now in the oriental way. The plum note remind me more a prunes note and smells seductive enough. And even yummy!:) The tuberose sweetness and the Damascus rose charm really make this fragrance more sexy:)
It reminds me Feminite du Bois by Shiseido because of the plum note. Only the last one is more heavy and spicy, imho.
I like this fragrance. Today there are enough simple fragrances which smell like candies etc Tired enough of such kind of fragrances. Secret Obsession is not like those fragrances and it's really cool! I only wish it could be more heavy because it seems to me light enough somehow, especially as the oriental fragrance.
Anyway, good job!
Not bad at all - and I was biased due to prior reviews. Anyway, nothing more I can add other than it's not related to the original Obsession at all, so don't expect a flanker that shares notes from the original. The white florals, tuberose especially, are prominent over the somewhat common vanilla & woods base. The plum and nutmeg give it a fruity yet slightly medicinal tone initially - but the drydown is all tuberose, vanilla and woody ambers.
Smell this is a tricky sensorious experience. When I tested it, I've feeling orange blossom and sweet orange nuances along with some woods slightly spiced and balanced, rich amber/vanilla complex.
After some time comes the news to me: it was the tuberose! In some places orange blossom is listed but I don't know exactly what is true so, taking into account tuberose can resemble orange blossom we focus on it.
Dark scent, really heavy in a great way and the thing that I feel is kind of "toasted", burnt sugary orange/orange blossom. Woods are warm and sweet touch is in whole fragrance but don't gets annoying neither boring.
I think the tester i've tried was spoiled cause something had bad smell, somewhat rancid also some perfumes in store wasn't in good condition. Anyway, this detail doesn't overshadows this beautiful perfume. A must try for oriental and wood lovers.
Gorgeous bottle!
I love secret obsession because it is THE scent for fall/autumn.
I love it when i can smell a kind of woody note on my skin combined with that fresh autumn air and a little twist of vanilla at the end of the sniff :)
SHORT: great autumn/fall perfume with great little twist at the end <3 lovely
nice, but not for a full bottle or for a signature scent. I can imagine myself using it everyday for autumn and spring. This is a soft cozy scent of nutmeg and plum with the silent accords of other notes and sandalwood at the dry down. I usually dislike tuberose, but it suits here.
I absolutely adore this one. Spicy, sexy, warm, and also daring. It's quite strong, and definitely not for everyone, but the fragrance seems to work well with my skin. Wearing it makes me feel confident, unique, and mysterious. Not a great daytime scent in my opinion - better for a date night in the winter/fall. To me it's the perfume equivalent of a shot of bourbon on a cold, rainy day. Love, love, love.
I remember when Secret Obsession was released, and all the fuss over the ad. Being a fan of CK and Eva Mendes (she's absolutely gorgeous, I'd love to look like her!)I tried it at the first opportunity I got. I wasn't convinced enough to buy a bottle there and then, but a few months later I went into a shop where they had a tester on the counter, so I had another try. I don't know what was different the second time but I really enjoyed it, so I went back later for a small bottle. I still have it, I still wear it and I still enjoy it.
So many people here don't seem to like Secret Obsession but that's OK with me, it means that I don't smell it on every second or third woman in the street like with Mademoiselle or Cherie.
There's smth really odd about it. It's a love-hate relationship for me. I'm in love with myself and the whole world the first two days I wear it. I feel confident, sexy and beaytiful. And then I get soo chocked with it.
Overall,it's defenitely a must-try perfume. The smell is unique in my opinion.
I was near to buy it without smell and it woudl be a big mistake! I tested it at the shop and it´s definetly not for me. So strong,old-fashioned fragrance ( at least for me). Only for winter and not spray too much because other people can choke. YUK!!
I was given this perfume by by mother, who hated it but thought that I might like it, given the fact that I love perfumes in general. I really wanted to like this - I tried it on several times for different occasions, in different months and seasons, hoping that I would end up just one day smelling something in it that I loved. No, didn't happen. To me, this perfume smells like a home hair dye kit, less the ammonia.
I was given this scent as a gift, and it is way too strong for me. It made me feel like a girl wearing her great aunt's perfume. It just seemed dated and too masculine at the same time. I couldn't enjoy this scent, although at first I liked it. It seemed once I was introduced to lighter and fresher scents, the more I started to dislike this one. It's very strong, and does have great lasting power.
thoough I've already written a review, I simply need to add that I love it even more after seeing these negative reviews. That means that S.O. is not for everyone's taste; it is unique and perfect as a signature scent!
Secret Obsession isn't a masterpiece perfume but it's good enough for me to wear frequently as a day scent. I grab it when I am pressed for time and can't fiddle about matching perfume to mood at the moment. It allows me to spare some of my costlier perfumes some days too. On me, surprisingly, it's not terribly sweet. The nutmeg is present but not overwhelming, the plum fairly transient, and the tuberose is the most notable element of it, along with vanilla and sandalwood. Sillage on me is medium, and longevity average. It would benefit from a better quality sandalwood, but that would significantly affect its cost...It does seem a trifle "ragged" in its formulation; hastily or inexpertly composed. But it's pleasant enough to throw on anytime, and cheap enough to keep a spare bottle (and by the way, i rather like the bottle)in yoga bag or office for reapplications.
non so perché...ma quando l'ho provato su di me, spruzzandolo in profumeria, sapeva di "vinaccia"! :/
A very warm and soft scent that stays close to me. Remainds me a little of YSL Cinema but this one is way more softspicy. I love this one. I feel like a sexy, mysterious woman with this wrapped around me. Not heavy or edgy on my skin. a soft whisper of S Obsession sorrounds me.
For me it´s too strong too old fashioned scent. When I used it I felt 15 years older. Definetly not my. Only for winter!!
I love the subtle spiciness of the nutmeg and the amber and sandalwood in the dry down are divine! Definitely an evening scent for cooler weather!
3.5/5 STARS
it was a gift, and first i didn't like it much, but the more i wear it and the longer it is on my skin, the more i like it. it is really strong and has a great lasting power. i use it especially for colder days e.g autumn or winter. i do not like many of the ck fragrances but this one is really different.
Oh my Godness, what a surprise.
It's amazing.
Plum + tuberose.
But strangely, this combination makes it smells masculine.
Maybe masculine it's not the right word, but gives me a impression of something solid, strong, persuasive and ironic.
Synesthesically speaking, makes me thing in something dark red or brown.
The dry-down try to resembles something of Fracas- R. Piguet, but with soapy and without all buttery of Fracas.
However, the staying power is not as expected, but its sillage is great while it stays on the skin.
Fabulous.
*I've notticed traces of Cyclades- Lancôme in the top notes.
Sandalwood and vanilla overwhelm while amber and nutmeg hold back. Jasmine peeks out occasionally. I'm apparently sensitive to vanilla, because it always dominates on me. The sandalwood is too strong. It reminds me of film noir, but it's lacking something to make it truly romantic. It's nice, but flawed.
However, orientals tend to fall dramatically short of their promises when I wear them.
it was a blind purchase although i was very lucky, it's very distinctive, sexy with a warm drydown,a very good lasting power that will surrounds you all the time ...i recommend it for those who like floral-oriental group.
My favourite perfume. Some may argue that it's over the top or too sweet and strong. Well, I think it;s perfect and unique. It's so original, your never going to experience such a lovely scent with any other perfume. Great perfume, but most suitable at night.
I'm no expert on notes I have no idea what Seductive Tuberose is supposed to smell like or Egyptian Jasmin. I got the sample sized bottle and really liked it so I purchased the 50ml. However for me the appeal has now worn off. I only have a drop left in the bottle so it hasn't gone to waste.
Probably I don`t know how does the sex smell (almost in all of the reviews I read that this fragrance smells of sex), but it`s really a strange one. I still don`t deciede if I like it or not (I just recieved it today) but it`s with character and I have an interest in it.
I find it more mascuiline than androgine...
I dont like nothing at all ,this perfume is long lasting(which is good)but too sweet, old smelling ,i don't know i don't like something about this perfume.I still have full bottle.
I'm 17 and to my nose this is simply too old smelling! I have worn this a couple times (my auntie insists on getting me this for christmas every year...) and have felt quite sexy and mature. It's definatly an evening scent. It's quite heavy and a little goes a long way. My boyfriend also bought me a large bottle because he said he loved the bottle, which to be fair is quite beautiful. Overall I wear this very rarely, but when I do, I feel strong and confident.
I think this fragrance is too fruity-woodsy for my taste. My other half doesn't think it smells great either. For me, this scent is for more matured ladies.
dirty sensuality....
cloves and cinnamon chewing gum
yes, dentyne and cloves thats it
honeyish too
i am a convert
eva mendez is the perfect person for this
dark, sensual, exotic, captivating
as this potion warms up and drys down to a second skin,
it turns into my beloved & discontinued armani mania

Well I am a strange one because If I like the smell of something I wear it. I am not able to stick to one family of perfume. I have at least 50 perfumes but I test and test them at the store before I buy them to ensure I like them. I have to get them out in groups. One week I put all the spicy ginger type fragrances on my shelf and spend the week wearing them and then the sweet fruity ones another week to ensure I get to wear them all. This is strange but this one I put on the shelf with tressor, chloe narcisse, orlane fleurs, jennifer lopez live because it just has a honey nectar kind of smell. When I want to spend the week wearing that kind of smell I wear this. Others have said it is spicey. To me I only smell honey something very sweet. Also, it lasts and lasts on me. If it doesn't last on you try spraying it on the inside of clothing it lasts until you wash the garment. That's just my opinion on it. I will repurchase this because it for me is intoxicating.
What a bummer. This is a real scrubber for me - it never seems to develop on me beyond the harsh opening. As some suggest, it doesn't seem like the tuberose is playing well with the spice... I think they are competing with each other. As a result, to me this just smells rancid, like badly scented hairspray.
Late-night-loving under warm, freshly laundered egyptian cotton sheets in the penthouse suite of some 5 star hotel. Then another round of sex in the jacuzzi tub next morning, bodies lathered in fancy jasmine-scented hotel soap. That sums up Secret Obsession for me. I cannot help but add a second review. I would pick this scent to wear on my honeymoon...this warm and woodsy ambery-white floral scent is soapy clean and spicy dirty at the same time...strong, sensual, passionate but in a tasteful and sophisticated sense rather than aggressively sexy or skanky. I personally find that it has an aphrodisiac effect on me so I prefer to keep this as my bedroom or night time scent, as I can only truly appreciate it's beauty in intimate, quiet settings. For instance this works well on romantic dinner dates at upscale restaurants, especially if you and Mr.Lover will be getting down to business afterwards ;) It goes very well with sexy lace or satin lingerie, a silk kimono robe, or an elegant slinky gown. It gets cloyingly harsh, almost masculine, when worn in hot weather/day-time, and I similarly would not use this scent out clubbing or to crowded places, it's too intimate, too beautiful...but worn under the right circumstances and in the right setting, it is nothing short of MAGIC.
Love the perfume, more amusing,I love wearing it,although I'm a man. It was in a travel kit by CK I bought a while back. At first I wonderd why they put a feminine scent in a male kit,but than I tried wearing it. Fell inlove with the effect it had on women - heads were turning, all of my female friends complimented me on it. Since then,I use it as a seduction scent.Never failed me to this very moment.
So,in my opinion, this parfume can be used by both men and women alike.
I think it smells sooo old lady at first! But then, the old lady goes younger and younger until she turns a 30 something yr old self-confident and feminine woman. Very relaxed and sensual. But well, the spell does not last long, as it fades in 2 hours...
Way too strong for me. I wore it once and felt like I was choking on fumes from the land of intoxicating oriental/floral scents like Opium by YSL and Poeme by Lancome!
Then again, I'm more of a fruity-floral fresh kinda girl...
I love this perfume. It's strong and sexy. It has a hint of powderiness. It lasts pretty long as well. When I smell it I see sort of dark amber colors, maybe because that's the color of it haha, but still I enjoy it. I feel like it's a more mature scent. My older sister adores Obsession which has loud sillage, this seems bit quieter to me.
I simply adore this perfume. Rich, magnetic, mysterious. Feminine, yet powerful. And no, I'm not brainwashed by the infamous commercial; I had fallen in love with "Secret Obsession" long before I saw that on the Internet. It smells addictive on my skin, pure seduction. Perfect for a hot summer night!
Dominant white floral notes atop a background of rose petals, fruits, spices, and sandalwood potpourri...very warm, opulent, elegant and sensual. If you are sick of sweet/juicy/fruity type of scents, and enjoy white florals and soapy scents, try this one out :) the rose petals and fruits here are dried and mildly sweet, the spices are bitter, the jasmine soapy, the tuberose heady but not too strong, the vanilla is demure, the amber is warm and glowing, and the woods are lovely, dark and deep. It's a one-of-a-kind beauty, and the bottle and its color really does suit the scent. Lasting power and sillage are not great but not bad. This sort of dry, soapy, white floral scent is sexy as hell when worn close to skin but can suffocate if over-applied. Secret Obsession is my favorite soapy white-floral, but it is too 'special', too elegant for me to wear as a daily scent.
So mysterious, warm, dark, irresistable, very sensuel... Yummy
I think the tuberose ruins this scent for me. There is something "off" about the mix of the floral and woodsy notes. Obsession Night is the best.
(This review is for Eau de Perfume)
SECRET OBSESSION is dark, unique and well-balanced perfume. This perfume is deep and passionate with the distinctive character but at the same time it is quite easy to wear. It is not aggressively sexual but it is definitely deeply sensual. I could see this perfume on a beautiful and sophisticated woman wearing sleek burgundy dress at the cocktail party. She is confident, attractive and smart as well as strikingly beautiful.
I love the plum note in the opening. It is dark, full-bodied but at the same time a bit dusty and dry. It is like a fine liqueur spiced up by a nice doze of nutmeg and sweetened with the sweet rose petals. This is probably one of my favorite plum interpretations. The heart notes seem like a sweet and well-rounded floral veil with very nice tuberose and jasmine that neither overpowering nor cloying. The dry down is lovely woody amber with just a slight hint of vanilla. The vanilla note is definitely not strong or too gourmand.
The sillage and longevity are quite nice. This perfume is definitely lovely fruity oriental scent. The plum note is gorgeous here. I will definitely get the full bottle once my mini bottle is done.
I admit the advertising is a bit misleading as this fragrance isn't overtly sexy nor sensual. But if you ignore all the marketing and just focus on the scent, it actually smells quite nice.
It smells sweet and juicy with a slight soapy/clean scent to it. This isn't a perfume to be worn out at night but a perfume for a casual weekend or when you're hanging out at home.
I feel the negative reviews are the people who are expecting it to be similar to the original Obsession, which this is not. They should have named this an entirely new name with advertising that actually reflects the fragrance. But I do like this one a lot. :)
when I want to feel sexy...
I like this.
Secret obsession is one of my favorite fragrances. First impression, however, was so bad: I felt a very strong smell of whisky. But after 30 minutes it turned into a great warm scent.
It isn´t sweet, though I can feel something like baked sugar mixed with the spicy and amber notes. The lasting power is great!
My mother bought this one last month , when I tried it , I thought it smelled good , a bit spicy and delicate but unfortunately it has poor lasting power
I almost hesitate in saying that I like this scent, after reading the truly awful review in 'perfumes'. however, I do, once the initial heady blast of plum dries. it's warm & spicy on me, really very pleasant indeed.
it would be fair to agree with others that it has poor staying power, I applied it at 12.30 after a shower and by 3pm all I could smell was my body lotion. it's disappointing when a edp by a 'quality' house does not last as long as a edt by M&S...
Have you tried the Lush Karma soap ? It completely smells like that on my skin ! I adore this perfume, it smells like a nice, pleasant night by the fireplace, drinking some nice "winterish" tea, eating cinnamon apple pie, watching snow flakes falling in front of the windows and just smelling nice... :)
a greazt and passionate autumn freagrance its more woody and vanilla like when you smell it first its heavy but not too heavy so dont wear it during summertime
Delicious! Smells like an amazing mix between TF Black Orhcid VF and the original Obsession. Can't go wrong there..they are both beautiful and sexy scents. This smells great from begininng to end. The nutmeg adds a special umph to make this really wonderful. I just adore everything about it!
Eggnog, jasmine and sandalwood. I really enjoy this fragrance. I got lucky and found a big bottle at Ross for under $25. What a steal!
This perfume was okay not what I really had expected. I think it needed a little more umf to it or something I dont know.
A lot of people not liking this one! Too bad, I love it! But I must say it is not your typical perfume. It is a wonderful combination of white flowers and spice. I would say it is a very sensual combination. I think this perfume should be worn by women that are totally confident about their character and sensuality. I would also say it is a choice for women that consider themselves unique and not wanting to belong to the crowd pleasers. In the same line of this perfume are Black Orchid Voile de Fleur (stronger) and Oriflame Chiffon (lighter).
I had a bottle of this when it premiered but I returned it shortly after... I loved the over-all scent, I just couldnt deal w/ the heavy-handed heaping of nutmeg, it just doesnt quit and it seems 2 overwhelm the fragrance. Nuff said...These days I ask for a sample to apply for a day or so, this way I can pay attention 2 likes, dislikes, sillage and longevity vs the cost...
This was so so strong. All amber and vanilla and I got a leathery scent as well, though that could just be the tuberose. I like all these notes but this was just overkill.
I tried this out in the shop first and walked around with it on for a while, as I thought it was a little too strong for my usual floral "taste". It soon dried down to a slightly floral fragrance which, although different to my usual perfumes, was rather pleasant. My husband then said he thought it was lovely, so that was that! I'm loving the bottle too - very elegant! Not my most favourite perfume in the world, but very pleasant. It's just a shame it doesn't last that little bit longer, which is what I always hope for in an Eau de Parfum as opposed to an Eau de Toilette. Still, you can't have everything I suppose!
When i picked up secret obsession, i have no expectation at all...
begins with a rather surprising fizzy dried spices... i would imagine fizzy light drink made of spices would smell like this (if there's anyone out there who made drink like that...)
as it settles, amber kicked in and round things up. vanilla was there, but very faint...
the drydown is what makes me think this is a unisex fragrance...rather masculine woods was dominating together with faint spices on the background...
my overall experience was pleasant. it is not a very safe fragrance, but not screaming out loud as well. sexy? i dont really think so...middle notes that i got are rather sexy, but not the beginning and drydown.
lasting power is not there thou... just like some reviewers mentioned.
This has been my signature scent for some time, yet I have hesitated to review it because I am never quite sure whether to love it or merely to like it.
What's to love? Secret Obsession is a really perfect blend. The list of ingredients might suggest that it could smell like hairspray, candy or laundry detergent, but it does not at all. The different ingredients lusciously mix from the spray-on; although I can discerne nutmeg and plum, it is not any one strong note, but a delicious mix of subtle, sweet fruity notes that calm down into an amber-y, woodsy, spiced scent. The floral middle notes are rather subdued on my skin, but the ambergris, sandalwood and vanilla of the base develop beautifully. The scent has something very mysterious about it, is elegant, feminine, and a little bit "come-hither". It's very sensual and sexy, but not dirty, so you can wear it at the office but also in bed - not shy, but not in your face either. And the stages of its development are all a bit different, so it gives you something to explore as you wear it. What's less enchanting? The staying power - or should I say, the lack thereof? If I use the perfume only, it disappears within two hours, so bye-bye to the exploration described above! Currently I wear it in combination with the body lotion. This makes the scent stay on beautifully, but it means, of course, that the price increases quite a bit! On the upside: Secret Obsession really isn't pricey for a perfume of this quality, so it's still worth it for me.
I love Eva Mendes so i was sort of sucked into getting this for myself. I know Calvin Klein has created some truely iconic fragrances and i can easily see this one becoming a cult favourite. For me this bottle reminds me of sex. Its naughty, its sweet, after it dries down it smells very woody and still maintains that sweetness. I was lucky to get the Body lotion for free along with the fragrance and together the lasting power is fantastic. The fragrance on its own only lasted around an hour on me. This is the sort of fragrance i like to lay around naked in.
I have mixed feelings about this one. I bought it without sniffing it first, so as usual some risk was involved. Someone suggested that it is similar to "Poison" so I really had to try it and the expectations were really high. Well, at first I got disappointed as the smell turns to be something I did not expect. I detect some plum and vanilla, sweet and warm notes, but nothing extraordinary. I do not consider it sexy or sophisticated, rather just another sweet and warm pleasant fragrance. Definitely a cold day/ evening perfume, however, it turns out it works even better for me in summer as a night scent. Spraying wrists with Secret Obsession before going to sleep guarantees a very pleasant transfer into the laps of Morpheus. I do like it, but am not impressed.
My story with this perfume is quite strange. I first saw this scent about two years ago, when it had just come out, and I decided to try it because the ad and the theme had really drawn my attention. So I thought I was definitely going to like this one. I sprizzed a lil bit on my wrist and it was just.. awful. Such a disappointment. I liked the campaign so much and I was so disappointed that the scent smelled just like super strong cinnamon, nutmeg and plums but not in a good way, more like in a sickly sweet and bothering smell, which gave me headache.
I tested it again two weeks ago, after that bad experience, just to try it. And... OH MY GOD. It was another fragrance. Completely different from the one of 2 years ago. It's just so sensual, misterious, sweet, feminine, yes very intense but very pleasant.I don't know what happened, maybe either my skin or my nose have changed... wired thing. Anyways, I immediately buyied it and I recommend it for those who want a very sexy seductive scent, perfect for nights out. It is very fruity but not in an innocent way, rather in a very sweet and rich way. better in winter but it's fine also in the summer. The lasting power is unfortunately wery weak.
But GREAT.
I agree with falovalo's review of this fragrance. I was expecting something sexy and bold and daring from the ads and all the hype about this juice. To sum it shortly, I was extremely disappointed. The opening is really potent and in your face, which I'm not opposed to, but this is too much for me. The drydown is better but there's just not anything outstanding about this perfume. I love most of the notes in this fragrance, but this is a very unpleasant fragrance. Perhaps the tuberose is over-kill, I don't know. Either way....YIPES. Keep it away from me! Do try it before you buy it, cause it's definitely an aquired scent.
I've had this on and off my "test" list for ages and finally got to try it today. Boy, am I glad I didn't swap for this!
I was hoping this would be a sexy, seductive scent, but it's just the opposite. It brings to mind serious, strict and by-the-rules schoolmarms of yesteryear.
Secret Obsession is your typical in-your-face, loud, brash fragrance. Granted, I did only test it on a paper strip, but I was wholly unimpressed. I couldn't pick out any singular note, they were just all smashed up together. I highly recommend that you try before you buy.
i must b smelling something entirely different than what others smell because, i love it. it makes me think of black satin sheets inside a multi floor to ceilings windows with soft cream curtains blowing in the wind.you lie there as if ur not noticing anything ,,but u r,,,and out of the corner of ur eye u cee ur lover.the night blooms with glorius flowers floating on the breeze and that bit of spice that u and ur lover add.last a long time and does transport u.
I tested it last summer.I really like the smell is really nice, but the staying power is really bad.One hour and a half after I tested it I could barelly smell it.I think that's really bad for an oriental fragrance, but seeing that it's CK I'm not surprised.
this scent is so onlike obsession nite, its just too subtle ad laid back,i think there should have been more floral scents,a little bit of fruity smell.well they better work on it.The opening is terrible, for a perf with dat ad,it aint sexy.but overall....its just okay,i would not recommend it for anyone
I personally wouldn't wear this one. My grandmother has it and man it smells beautiful on her!! I found myself walking behind her sniffing her up!
I don't get all the negative comments. It's almost like there was a crusade against Secret Obsession...
Anyways I like it very much. For me it's kinda vintage. I can imagine women from 1920s wearing this. The time of independence and birth of jazz and surrealism is what I can connect this with.
It's strong, oriental, but in the same time sweet and very feminine. I can smell the plum and tuberose at first. After about 20 min it becomes even better when vanilla comes out. It develops beautifully on skin, it's warm and I couldn't imagine wearing this in summer but in autumn/winter it's perfect. I remember getting compliments all the time when I wore it during my exams in winter.
I also don't think it has anything to do with an "old lady perfume". Come on, I'm 21 and I got compliments when I wore this from guys the same age!
To sum up, I don't wear Secret Obsession very often but when I want a beautiful oriental this is my pick.
ps great staying power!
This is not bad at all, not my thing, but I can see how on a right person, this perfume would smell amazing.
I smell plum, nutmeg and wood the most.
Subtlety has never been a salient feature or strongpoint of Calvin Klein perfumes--nor was it ever meant to be--and of all the CK classics, OBSESSION wins the award for least subtle frag. It's about as in your face as they come. Years ago, I owned a bottle of OBSESSION oil (bath oil? body oil? not sure...) which smelled so scary from a distance that I could not even bear to open it! For this reason, I was intrigued by the possibility of a SECRET OBSESSION. What could such a thing be?
Well, this is not 1985, so already the loudness and the tatoo quality are gone, banished by marketing exigencies. What we have in SECRET OBSESSION is a relatively tame oriental woody with only the faintest resemblance to its namesake. And that is a good thing, since to my nose OBSESSION was more like FATAL ATTRACTION: "If you don't want me, then I'm going to stalk you for the rest of your life!!!!"
SECRET OBSESSION is a warm, woody oriental which features nutmeg upfront and immediately, giving this fragrance an initially somewhat masculine edge. But the vanilla soon swoops in, aided by the plum, rose, and tuberose, to turn things around. In the end, a sweet, spicy-woody drydown remains, with the nutmeg lingering and mingling with the vanilla and the wood. I like it. This is something that I could and would wear in winter. The nutmeg would be too much in the heat, I think.
SECRET OBSESSION? Not so secret. Not so obsessional. But likeable enough. Unless you happen not to like nutmeg!
I finally got my courage and tried this today. I m talking about encouragement because years ago I tested the original obsession it became horribly strong and spicy on me lasting for 3 days. But when I saw secret obsession on the counter I decided to give it a shot.
It resembles the original one, unique spicy and powerful but definitely softer and more wearable which is a plus.
However, I wish it had a tiny bit of a floral note that would make this perfume more sophisticated and playful, and it would be an adorable fragnance...
Right now it smells synthethicly, too spicy and soapy thanks to sandalwood.
But it seems like if you use this scent, you will be remembered with it. People will recognize this smell as "yours" if they sniff it in somewhere else.. It is that unique.
There is little doubt that this is in the same family as Obsession, the amber heritage comes through loud and strong, very strong.
However, I find this a little more versatile than the original Obsession, which when worn outdoors screams its presence. It is completely incongruous.
Secret Obsession is also very much an indoors, intimate fragrance. I wouldn't wear it to work or for fine dining.
It is VERY strong and lasts for hours.
I like the spicy notes and woody drydown but found the floral notes a little too dominant.
If you like the original and perphaps EL Cinnabar, then I believe you will enjoy this.
Just please don't sit next to me at a wine tasting or a crowded train because neither of us will escape unscathed.
Will I buy it ? Yes I will because there are times when I want impact, but I will treat it like the dynamite it is. A very delicate hand is required.
NOT FOR TEENS OR 20S ? Caution to those fabulous ladies who drench themselves in Youthdew or Georgio.
I finally had a chance to get this perfume, I bought it unsniffed - had high expectations and hopes - and yet, my feelings on this one are mixed and disappointing. I definately was expecting much more based on the provocative add campaign with Eva.
It is spicy and floral. On me the fragrance is not very strong at all. I also found it different when sprayed on paper, there it seemed to be stronger to me. Though I think it is a nice enough, it somehow reminds me of the fragrance of mulled cider. If you picture drinking your cider right next to your vase of fragrant roses...Secret Obsession.
I can smell plum, roses, nutmeg and vanilla. Though I find it to be warm and pleasant, it did not have nearly the sillage of say the original Obsession...nor the lasting power, at least not on me. I must admit I was expecting more. Still, I agree that on the right person it could be a great fragrance. If you compare this one with the original Obsession and expect something similar, I think you will be disappointed.
Likeable yet not really for me and not a fragrance I would buy again. The bottle I have -- will probably last me......forever. I cannot recommend this one but if you must have it, at least try before you buy.
Smells like a food spice to cook with and has a soapy dry down.I really don't like this fragrance I think a guy could wear this easily.
Would somebody please be so kind as to PM me and tell me how much different this is from the original obsession. I think original obesession is a bit too spicy for me and it kind of turns me off but I haste in purchasing the secret obesession if its anything like the original obsession. Thank you so much!
I was obsessed with a thought that Obsession is strong perfume. I approached to it (carefully) several days ago. Here is flow of my thoughts afterwards...
Sexy Eva is sitting on the kitchen floor next to refrigerator. Hungry like a wolf. And a bit h****. Mickey takes his glasses out of the shirt pocket and opens the fridge. Tells her to close her eyes. Gives her nutmeg butter. Dry and sweet. Little old, since it had no cap on. He opens a jar with plums, dry also. And little outdated. While she is chewing the plums he burns couple of incense sticks and rose perfumed candle. Don’t open your eyes yet, you have one last thing to try. Vanilla pudding.
"I am still hungry" she says. "There is nothing left. I spend all the money to buy Secret Obsession for your birthday!""I sad I wanted Tendre Poison!" Mickey closes the fridge saying "You are deliriant from nutmeg, should go to sleep"
The scenario is fiction, the truth is, I don’t like Secret Obsession for being overly spicy and unpleasant at the beginning. Slightly rotten to my perception and cinnamon enriched. This is not strong and long-lasting perfume, but for sure is one of a kind experience.
My excuses to all CK lovers!
don't know what possessed me to spend 30 quid on this. I bought it when it came out and before I really got into fragrance. I liked the initial spicy blast, I think but now feel it's too harsh and synthetic, not soft or complex enough though on the face of it it would tick the boxes that I like.
i admit this is oriental, but i find it to spicy to wear. at first it's very sharp and after the drydown settles, all i feel are the spices. too much of them... and something synthetic.
There are very few perfumes that I can't stand and this is one of them. Something that puts me off so much that it is an absolute scrubber. Probably the nutmeg in there... Too spicy and not good spicy also... pass!
I was very surprised by it since I don't like the regular Obsession. I am still trying to make up my mind on this one. I found it to be different from so many of the new arrivals this year.
Reminds me of walking into a lush cosmetics store with all their scented soaps and bubble bars. Sweet nutmeg, jasmine, and vanilla are the obvious notes.
Shortly after, it moves on to vanilla and amber and stays there for the rest of the ride. Its a warm one. The lasting is ok 3-4 hours.
i´ve acctually changed my mind about this perfume (when i sprayed it on my wrists instead of on a piece of paper). not sure if i find it as super-sexy as is´t supposed to be, but it´s spicy and warm.
I love Euphoria perfume but i don't like Secret Obsession. Currently I 'm wearing it and i feel head each. It seem too much alcohol. Maybe it is suitable for man not women. Sorry, CK
got it as a birthdaypresent and i love it its nothing like my other perfumes way more spicy. its very addictive and very sensual, i didnt expect i would like this.only for real intense moments
to connect special intimate memories on it. so i dont think woman should wear it
outside their bedroom, it would loose the meaning of it.. the smell wouldnt make sense
i´m not sure about this one. it´s a little too sweet and spicy, almost makes me sneaze! i do not think it smells manly, though. it´s way too sweet for that
I had the classic Obsession, so this one, with my favorite Eva Mendes in the promotion, and the gorgeous bottle, ohh i had to have it.Without smelling it, grabbed a bottle(big one too!!) from the duty free in an airport, then home, after a shower applied it and OMG!!!! it was stinking on me!!!!! (of course it was there forever, like all perfumes you dont like!) I immediatelly gave it to a friend of mine, and it was ok on her... shame, must be just my skin....
First spray get me a really masculine (dead straight masculine, not the sweet cute average guy perfume masculine--say like Euphoria Man) scent. I get a lot nutmeg and spicy kind of scent instantly. I can’t smell anything rosy or plumy. I guess the nutmeg is really dominant at the start.
Then after 5 minutes, when the scent starts to settle down, I don’t feel that against it, and actually I start to like it a little bit. I can smell something dark, woody, mysterious, maybe a little bit seductive (but nothing like your usual cameral/chocolate/sugary sexy seductive), it’s purely something makes me curious and want to know more. Soon the jasmine will come and balance out the strong masculine feeling a little bit.
It is a strong and hypnotizing-in-its-own-way perfume in my definition, even in the relatively softer dry down; I still get a lot of woody scent, with a tiny bit vanilla sweetness: sensual and dark.
Even though it’s not the ‘usual’ female perfume I would really love to wear, but I can wear it, and somehow I feel really different and kinda like to wear it occasionally at night—to mentally teleport myself to somewhere totally new.
Secret Obsession somehow reminds me Crystal Noir by Versace. However, personally I like Crystal Noir more, it’s more feminine.
Anyways, if you like dark mysterious and unusual scent, before you let Secret Obsession pass, let it develop on your skin, be patient and maybe you’ll start to appreciate it at some point.
Eva Mendes has nothing to do with Calvin Klein's Secret Obsession, and I bet she wouldn't wear it. They used a very celebrity to uplift its sales, but sorry, we won't buy that. I hate this fragrance second to angel. Its a reminiscent of 90's pefume, those heavy cheap face cream scent. To me its soapy and very old fashioned. Its not sexy, its a mess. Sorry calvin klein.. :(
This perfume smells interesting at first but there is a heavy cedar note reminiscent of cedar planks or a cedar chest. Not for me.
In my opinion this fragrance gets far too many bad reviews what I really don´t understand. Also it seems to not sell well as almost every shop has it on sale or sells it at very good prices.
I am not so much into oriental fragrances but Secret Obsession impressed my at once. It is very spicy but fresh at the same time. It´s deep and warm but has also some kind of lightness. On me it lasts quite good which is rare.I consider it being wearable all year round.
This has become one of my favorites! Secret Obsession has some of my favorite notes: nutmeg, plum, sandalwood and tuberose. I could'a swore there was patchouli in there? It's got a slightly masculine edge which is so sexy. I find it to be somewhat intoxicating, and I'm feeling quite addicted. There is just enough vanilla to make this a warm, smoldering incens-y fragrance. I absolutely love the bottle as well, the softly faceted beautiful brown globe is like a little glowing warm jewel. It's a keeper for me.
Sorry, but this just smells like 'the 80's' to me. And not in a good way. Think one note, knock you dead power perfumes - not classy.
I expected this to be daring and sexy, because that's what I've been hearing. Unfortunately, it is not. To me, it's not even all that interesting. I guess compared to all the fruity and Aquatic florals that have been really popular as of late, it can be described as sexy....but I have smelled this before. It very strongly reminds me of a perfume my mother used to have in the late 80's/early 90's...I wish I could remember what it was called. Anyway, I'm glad I got a tester before I bought it because, to me it's another fragrance that smells too much like just a perfume, instead of it's own unique scent.
And it doesn't last that long.
I am captivated by the tuberose and jasmine scents by opening the bottle. Then the perfume dries out to sweet deep amber-vanilla.It is
an oriental aroma that tops best of all last year.Just try it.
It's been one year since this perfume was launched and still it is my favourite, my number one. I understand why some people might not like it, because it's all about the chemistry, the right personality and the place you choose to wear this amazing fragrance. I once did the mistake of wearing it on a night out to a club, a place for smokers. I don't smoke, but from that experience I found out that it turns bitter, having the smell of dried leafs and strong alcoholic drinks.
But Secret Obsession is magic when wore at the right time and place. I know it makes wonders on autumn days or at night, when you go out on a romantic date or just for a walk at dawn. It is indeed elegant, having the power of warming up the souls in the colder days.
I finally had the pleasure of trying Secret Obsession today. I stood in the store completely stunned of how enchanting it smelled. It reminded me of burning incense! I was expecting something not so hot. This is tantalizing and sexy! If this doesn't smell passionate and bewitching I don't know what does!
Yeah, its spicy but it goes flawlessly with tuberose and jasmine. The "Secret" must be in the spice, plum and vanilla. The tuberose is a "stand-up" strong character unlike its usual delicate stance. I've never smelled a more stunning tuberose based fragrance since Robert Piquet - Fracas.
Secret Obsession is for a woman with a strong character. Best for the night and winter as it is pretty strong with excellent silage. It has all the class and elegance needed for formal situations yet dark and witchy enough to wear to clubs or parties. I personally would wear this on a romantic date. It's sure to entice and seduce any man into your spell!
Interesting, certainly not that conventional one...
We have a "Sport" named chocolate bar in my country, this perfume reminds me of that, because Sport contains rum and Secret Obsession gives me the impression of rum&chocolate in a very pleasant and delicious way.
I agree with those who said this perfume is a head-turner. It is! You won't be unnoticed wearing this. I recommend it for a confident woman who knows what she wants... Personally, I would be happy, if I got this as a present ;)
too strong and smell so old lady for me it's not sexy nor sensual at all and it smell like to much wood , the original Obssesion is sooooooo much better
I don't get where Calvin and company were coming from on this one. It bears no resemblance to the original Obsession that I can see and to me it's just too spicy, too sweet, too heavy...too much. I do think the brown bottle is rather pretty, but other than that I just can't work up much of an obsession about this one.
A plum that`s too sweet, and it`s spiced not yet enough for my taste.
It`s like there is something missing in it to make it attractive enough to make me want to have it.
It is like a good artist that chose a banality for a theme of his painting...
Will try it again, but I don`t have high expectations.
this is The most sexiest parfume in the world!!! Hey women , buy one more CK S.O
I love the irresistible aroma, reminded me of Youth Dew Amber Nude... great in combination with body lotion, as if you soaked in the finest cognac or mousse.
I love the plum part, but vanilla may be responsible for rich and warm touch at the end, definitely not a champion of longevity. Not so provocative, in my opinion an intriguing fragrance, you can even imagine a few drops on the men's skin.
Dark and mystic only in the beginning, later has the color of bitter honey, has some freshness, but as it lacks the strength to endure, it must be frequently renewed. Smells a bit too serious, not like so many soft-fruity and floral fragrances. Secret Obsession is definitely not a gentle fragrance that will love every woman. I think this is an advantage for a frag, not to be liked by everyone. Quite unique cognac note, I plan to buy it again.
When I first sprayed it, my initial thought was: Oh, gardenia! I looked at the notes...and there wasn't any. BUT, there IS tuberose & jasmin. Not my two favorite notes...but in this one,it's bareable. However, I sprayed very lightly, so that might be the reason why. Interesting how I don't get ANY of the top notes. It's a very fresh floral scent, at leat for a while. Then the sandalwood shows up and takes over almost completely. Then it's a woodsy potpourri. Not bad, but not something I typically wear. Feminine with a kick. Nothing especially unique about it though. Lasts for quite a long time. (I only sprayed once, and lightly at that, but it stayed). It stayed close to the skin on me, but like I mentioned, I only sprayed once lightly.
EDIT: Like has happened before, my opinion of this fragrance has changed - I can no longer find the same notes; it just smells sort of generic, and it only lasts about 45 minutes. I doubt I'll replace this bottle. I'm leaving my old review for reference.
I just received my bottle of Secret Obsession today, and I just love it. The initial burst is somewhere between Euphoria and Obsession in scent, but after about a half hour it turns into its own unique scent - it is very difficult to describe as it is highly complex. To me it smells like an herbal/New Age store I used to love to go into when I lived in Portland, OR - spicey and musky and just wonderful. I'd always just pause inside the door and sniff for a couple minutes before I did anything else. It isn't overpowering at all on me. This is a keeper in my book.
Nutmeg, amber, sandalwood -- these somehow manage to create the heaviest bourbon/whisky odor I've ever encountered outside of a bar! If you choose to wear this be sure to keep your balance when walking and clearly enunciate when speaking or those near you will think you've been drinking for hours and hours. Unbelieveably boozey, and NOT in a good way.
smell similar to roberto cavalli oro ...its a bit 2 strong but not sickening like insolence edp . certainly to be worn in winter !
KasiaS you're sooo right! I completely agree with you, this parfum has everything I should be looking for in a parfum, but still it only reminds of autumn, death and very old fragrances that our grandmothers used to wear. A huge disappointment. I tested it a few months ago because the SA though it could be my taste of parfum considering that I'm a fan of oriental woody and spicy parfums but I hated it immediately. Then my mom bought it only a few weeks ago and I've been "forced" to try it again, but even then I couldn't help but thinking that this parfum doesn't smell any good. It makes my feel unconfortable and sad.. And it never changes on skin.. Too bad!
Secret Obsession surprised me to say the least. I really didn't expect that I would like this fragrance so much.
This fragrance is unique. Not an outstanding and ground-breaking type of unique, but certainly different and refreshing.
The scent is like a harmonious blend of woods, spices and florals. It's comforting, warm and in some ways exotic.
I consider this fragrance to be more temptingly sensual rather than outright sexy. Secret Obsession doesn't scream sex, rather it promises to be taken slowly, perhaps a dinner, a dance, a glass of champagne and a sense of anticipation. It's certainly a scent that depicts control and elegance.
The jasmine and tuberose in the heart of this fragrance, really softens the scent and makes this fragrance so feminine and enticing. Secret Obsession is certainly a more subtle and modern version of the original Obsession.
I actually find it difficult to dislike any Calvin Klein fragrance as of recently because their newest releases just seem to be getting better and better.
I'd suggest Secret Obsession to any woman and I'd be extremely surprised if they weren't as impressed as I was.
I know that 'sex sells' & Eva Mendezs is a total fox.....but I don't think the campaign suits this fragrance.
The original Obsession was heavy & spicy. the incense, amber & animalisitc notes gave it a leatheriness & heady quality that could be mistaken for a dark sexuality.
I can still make out aspects of the original in SO - the notes meld together to turn into that smoky, amber-leatheriness on my skin, but it is lighter & sweeter.
Not sexy IMO, leads me on but leaves me a little cold - "all talk & no trousers". However, an interesting fragrance for women who enjoy darker, more unusual scents. Not challenging enough for me....I'd prefer Nu or I'd dip into the men's fragrances & mix it with Fahrenheit.
I was so excited for this perfume, and very very disappointed when I smelled it. Smells like hairspray
I'd really love to love this: it has everything I love in perfume, it's oriental and spicy which is so rare nowadays, the notes are great. Still, it's a bit repugnant, it makes me a kind of scared and thinking of autumn, death and dry wood pieces :) Nevertheless I think it IS extremely sexy, but it's in a straightforward, animal way, which can be too much. I'd call it coital, I guess. I don't think I could ever wear it, but I must admit I can easily imagine this on a Monica Bellucci. One more thing - the film is absolutely stunning, what kind of a jackass would ban it?
----
I've tested it once again and found some resemblence with Lutens' Feminite du Bois and Organza Indecence, which are both awesome. It's the same type of smell but unfortunately still lacks something comparing with the other two...
I agree with Annie-D and the other members who have said it's not that sexy that it claims to be.
if you just can ignore the provocative name and dark bottle,it's just an ordinary perfume.
in fact I don't get any first note at all!to my nose there isn't much to describe.as the time passes I can recognize pure rose and other floral notes.surprisingly it becomes fresher as the times passes.so yet there isn't any similarity with the name.I think obsession and obsession night match better to the name than this one.
the long lasting power is fair, but not very good.it has already gone after 2 hours of spraying.
From the looks of the bottle I thought there would be more spice to this, especially with the bottle being a dark amber. Almost initially I sense the nutmeg with a sweetness of plum coming into play. I just kept inhaling the scent because I was trying to figure out what smelled so sweet and spicy at the same time, about an hour or so later I started to sense some amber come in. Overall the spices fit nicely I think this could be and oriental floral for someone trying to break into orientals as in its not too dark or spicy or floral. It would be a beginner oriental floral in my opinion. I do enjoy it for casual use, I believe another reviewer said you could wear it anywhere the mall, grocery shopping, etc. It isn't especially fancy or special, but it is intriguing. Unfortunately I'm not sure this will be added to my wardrobe.
Well... I don´t consider this one with sexual appealing. I enjoyed the smell (I bought it unsniffed), but I think this one is to be used normally, at the office for example (I used it to go to the hairdresser).
Not too intrusive, the spices are wonderful. The lasting is weak, about 2 hours, I had to reaply many times during the day.
To me it´s not soapy or masculine. That´s a very feminine smell and it´s spicy in a soft way (the nutmeg is evident)
Feminine, delicate, and nice.
The soft tuberose inside this its a sparkling touch for my nose :)
This have a soft and refined sensuality... its not strong or heavy, sexy neither, don't say "i am hot" ... but says i am warm and tender, emotional and confident. I like it :)
Upon sniffing this, two words come to mind, 'opulence' and 'mystery'...it smells like the penthouse suite of a luxury hotel, with dark wood furniture and scarlet themed decor. I love the combination of jasmine and woods (and nutmeg!)...I just adore the scent!! It's luxuriant and warm and it glows ever so softly, seductive and opulent, but still earthy and grounded with 'soapy' magnificence...if you're expecting something sweet, you will be sorely disappointed, there is nothing sweet smelling about this scent...so how does it really smell like, put in very simple terms? soapy, earthy, woody jasmine and plum scent, with a dash of spice...this must be what the soaps in heaven smell like...
Unfortunately...it does not last on my skin or clothes :( too bad :( I mean seriously, barely 2 hours go by, and poof, the heavenly soapy scent disappears!
This is a very inoffensive scent that stays close to the skin...so no one can get bothered by it....
I HAVE to add...they should make more fragrances like this!!! And someone should come up with a version that lasts longer...Smelling like candy and flowers is nice, but come on! Some of us want earthy, sexy-but-elegant scents like this to be made more available too!
I think that Guerlains Mahora is a nice, lasting smell-alike of this. Mahora isn't as synthetic as Secret Obsession.
does anyone know of a perfume simular which lasts longer??
i love the smell but not its lasting power
thanks
Calvin Klein scents seem to be hit or miss for me. I've given Secret Obsession a few tries now and it's another miss.
I really love the bottle, but the juice inside is another one with notes that look great on paper but don't smell nice on me. On my skin, Secret Obsession is a cacophony of notes all competing for attention at the same time, rather than a harmonious and seductive blend. Smells similar to the effect I get from walking by the candle store at the mall. All the different candle fragrances combine for a horrible effect. This perfume is just too much, all at once, sickeningly sweet, and then it quickly fades to almost nothing after just two hours.
I agree with the other comments that it is unisex.
If it works for you, it's probably wonderful, but I recommend sampling first to be sure.
Gud One but not very Gud due to the lacking in its staying power. I agreed with all who needs a launch of its Intense Version! Trying it for my wife was ok but buying was not an option just bcoz its negatively subtle for my taste of feeling something over her skin. Good Florals with nice Plum and Nutmeg!
Secret obsession is so warm and sweet and addictive!!
i only have a tester so i think ill use it all up soon and ill definitely buy the full size!
i really wish it lasted longer :(
looks like its not everyones cup of tea though
The opening notes on my skin is faintly reminiscent of Gucci edp. It gets very nice and spicy after that. Very warm scent and suitable for winter. I like it
Secret Obsession is a cozy blanket of pretty spices that you want to wrap around yourself on a chilly day. The nutmeg stands out at first but sandalwood and vanilla become more apparent on the dry down. The florals are not obvious but they make it all the more feminine.
Ideal choice for everyday in the autumn and winter, spritz on a little extra and it could work for the evening as well.
Although it doesn't really matter all that much I also like how the bottle suits the scent.
Secret Obsession makes my mouth water and it almost smelss edible. Drives my husband CRAZY, and he HATES most perfumes! I great everyday scent, not too heavy to wear tot he office. I wish it had more staying power, though, or that Calvin would come out with a "Secret Obsession Intense" version. LOVE IT!!!!!!
Just $30! That's such a great deal! I'm definitely checking all the TJMaxxs' near me! Thanks! Yeah I'm surprised to! It's such a wonderful scent and I don't see why people aren't liking it. It's something different and I really enjoy it! It has just the right amount of sweetness and spiciness to it. It's definitely a new classic for me.
I had such high expectations for this one. The ad campaign and the fantastic bottle had me hoping I would fall in love...but not to be. This comes screaming out of the bottle as a high-pitched white floral; not sexy at all in my opinion. I waited it out hoping it would improve during the drydown, but it just faded into a bland, irritating scent. So sad! But, oh, how I adore that bottle! If I ever find it at a bargain price, I may just buy it so I can display the bottle...
No... just not for me.
I normally love rich, powerfull, sexy scents but this? It made me want to rip my wrist off.
Its is pungent... NONE of the smells stand out they all blend into a mix of candied fruity blaaaghhh!!
After my first experience of this, I got Tiare Flower-anybody else? Regarding the comments that this isn't truly a dark, mysterious scent, remember that in the commercial perfume world, "sultry, seductive, deep, etc" is following on a decade of tutti-fruiti delights and so therefore, are very meek in comparison to our old favorites from the 30s-50s and the 80s.

I've tried it today. What can I say more that I'll sure have it before X-mas! It is the kind of smell I've been searching for a long time. Secret Obsession is such a sexy fragrance and the advertising just says it all...Besides you all know it can't be smoke without a fire.
What I want to mention is the fact that Secret Obsession is a high quality perfume and the drydown is simply adorable. In the first hour it can be a little spicy, but the mixture and balance are perfect. I also don't understand why it's compared with the smell of cookies. It smells much much better than some baked cookies :D
So, it's not a very gourmand scent, not so clean, not so heavy either, but very interesting and mysterious. What I like the most is the orange blossom notes combined with the burnt amber and sandalwood. Really amazing!
Its smells awsome, i have try it and next botle of my parfume will be the CK Secret obsession ;)
well, it smells 'bestseller', or wannabe bestseller at least. I think it was made to appeal popular taste. Warm, sweet and spicy fragrance. I don't know what's going on recently with CK, I like their 'older' scents, but these days all their new fragrances seemed to loose the complexity and the depth, altogether with edginess and experimental side, therefore they are not that interesting anymore, just seem bland and trying to fit in. But don't get me wrong they smell 'nice', but just that, not a compliment though, haircare products smell 'nice' too.
It was freezing today, and I spent most of my work time outside, so I had intentionally used Secret Obsession. It is wonderful, sweet and comforting, but not vanilla type of sweetness. It smells like plum jam or fruit from strudle or some plums or prunes in liqueur and had quite and impressive staying power (5hours). Later it changed into more flowery soapy scent. It is playful, not too complicated and would suit as an evening fragrance for a young woman. To me it is a gourmand, not oriental floral scent.
i was dissapointed when i smelled it.the first "OBSESSION"is much better ,i might say fabulous and unique
Secret Obsession is a sexy, floral fragrance. I like it! (but my scent is now Trussardi Inside:)
of course i bought it,,, always the classic obsession lover, i just thought it would be really something!well... put it on about twice, then back to my euphoria,,, i am afraid not same level with the old classic intoxicating Obsession!!...
the bottle is much like nomadic by oriflame, well, i usually dont like oriental floral scents with a few exception so no wonder why i dont really appreciate this, its not bad, but i cant feel any unusual or new thing in it, and its not sexy either i think, but preferences are different, and with others chemistry it might go well
I bought this to wear on my wedding day, and it has not disappointed! I love the smell; not to floral, more woodsy. I can't wait for my husband-to-be to smell it.
This is a lot better than Obsession. Although I don't like spicy/orientals Secret Obsession will be a fragance I will certainly wear in fall(Autumn). The top, middle and base notes are very distinct yet in saying so, it's not a mixed messy smell. Well done.
Too fruity to my taste. It's like a very very riped fruit, almost candied. After an hour the rose is noticeable and the overall impression is better than the opening.
Nevertheless, I wouldn't buy it, and if I had a sample of this I wouldn't use it. It's almost a scrubber for me.
I really smell the nutmeg and jasmine in this fragrance. I like it much better than Obession. I smell alot of sandlewood on the dry down. Pretty nice fragrance.
