L`Essence de Cerutti is a fragrance by Cerutti and it arrived on the market in January 2009. This is a timeless representative of masculine elegance and modern leather composition. The perfume opens with bergamot and white pepper, a heart encompasses leather, saffron and sensual woody notes, while a base finishes with velvety musk, amber and cedar. Nose is Antoine Lie.

The notes of this perfume are elegant, gourmand and mysterious!
The bergamot and white pepper are there but not so pungent.
The leather, saffron and woody notes combined with the musk, amber and cedar are
in magnificent harmony.

My mom bought 50ml for my dad and he likes it. I agree it´s really nice smell for men also for youngers and for elders.
I bought this blind based on a review that it was similar to D&G pour Homme. It shares a similar sensibility but the notes quite different.
I get a lovely peppery masculine opening which quickly morphs into something quite soft and comforting. I do notice a touch of mint but only very briefly. I think this shares a hint of Paul Smith London by Lie in that it has a slightly coconutty boozey appeal. Then there's something synthesized and fruity like pineapple (like the note in Tom Ford's Black Orchid). I think this is what they're trying to pass off as saffron here. In its final moments on the skin you can detect a hint of leather but nothing worth mentioning.
It's a poignant scent with noticeable sillage and a good 4+ hours of it too. I think I'd like this more in spring or a breezy summer evening as it's quite juicy and refreshing (with a powerful spritzer too).
I find this elegant and unobtrusive.
A perfect scent.....every time i go to work wearing it, its a success!
I received the parcel I ordered, and this one was one of the three scents that was in the package. The primary reason for me ordering this one was it's olfactive group, leather in this case. So, I was expecting a scent that will smell the rich leather nuances. In it's ingredient list there's Bergamot in the top note, woods in the heart beside the leather and Cedar, amber and musk at the base. So, naturally I was expecting a woodsy-leather stuff. When I first opened the cap it instantly reminded me of Badessarini classic cologne. The spraying vent of Baldessarini classic smels exactly like that (not the cologne), so I thought it might smell like the Baldessarini classic too. I wasn't expecting a tobacco flower smell which I actually got at the beginning of the spray, that surprised me since the opening note includes Bergamot. I searched for Bergamot for 6 hours after spraying, never found it. I lived in Cote d'Ivoire for a couple of years, Bergamot's smell is pretty familiar to me, I never found it in any note. Anyway, the tobacco blossom at the opening is not strong, the duration is pretty low too. The opening note transforms to the middle note very quickly. One thing that dominates the middle note is Mint which is also not mentioned in the note-list, beside a low degree woodsy note, hint of leather and saffron it is dominated by mint all the way. After an hour the scent smells like minty-leather which lasts for 3-4 hours on my skin. Though I didn't get the amber but my colleagues could smell the amber and cedar at the drydown. It's true that it really has a clean soapy smell which has been enhanced by the freshness of mint. The smell is little sticky and sharp but the silage is only average. The longevity is not very good either.
Silage 6/10
Longevity 6/10
Overall 6/10
I don't say this scent is not good, it's good surely, but it's just not a leather scent. People who think about buying it as a leather scent must test it before buying.
It can get sweet clean soapy like after taking shower with Dove and then putting on clean clothes and a new leather jacket. I'm kinda digging it. :)
I just received this mistakenly from an online seller. I am gonna have to spend more time with this one to decide.
So far my first impression is the scent is so light and stays close to skin. It have a hint of sweetness and bergamot; making it smell so clean and fresh. I also get a tiny pinch of spices perhaps from pepper and saffron. The leathery note stands out the most like Bvlgari Black but L'essence lacks the smoky powdery'ness and I kinda like L'essence this way or even better.
So after 6 hours. I still can smell it. I don't think anyone else around me can because it stays so close to skin the whole time. The scent doesn't shift or change around much either. I may have to spray on extra next time.
Overall, I find it pleasing and elegant. It's so much easier to wear than Bvlgari Black but I only wish this Cerruti would have a better projection. You know, I do want people to notice what I am wearing. It's part of the whole scent idea.
great perfume from this house , every time make difference in the perfume production. i appricate it.
