The house of Christian Audiger is adding another fragrant pair to their Ed Hardy collection. The pair is named Born Wild, available in version for men and women from November 2010.
Ed Hardy Born Wild For Men is a rebellious, daring and adventurous fragrance created by perfumer Olivier Gillotin. Its opening notes are very surprising and incorporate cara cara orange, spicy cardamom, ambrette seed and apple. Strong middle notes carry the scent of jasmine, neroli, ozone and pink peppercorn. Drydown is built around California Palo Verde and sandalwood. Palo Vedre is a dark and mysterious tree growing in California and its thorns and blue-green branches served as inspiration to the perfumer to add exclusive, precious aromas to the fragrance.
The masculine version of Born Wild is poured in grayish-black glass flacon 'tattoed' with colourful pattern, skull and inscription 'Death or Glory'. The fragrance is available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette, as well as hair and body wash and alcohol free deodorant.
I picked this up half off discount - blind buy. I have to say that I "done good" grabbing this one. I would certainly not classify it as wild. Fresh and manly is about the best I can do in the description department. It will do just fine for me this spring and summer and will stand above a lot of the popular sport/aquatics that are ever present. If you can get it on the cheap definitely go for it.
Attention grabbing scent
Such a shame it has a limited longevity
Good, nice masculine scent. Very woody to me with some sweets. Nothing special at all, but one can have for the ordinary day or night.
smell very nice..... sexy, masculine..... and it make people around you must ask you what is your perfume? it is so impressive.... try it.............
Born Wild?! This is a VERY Neutral fragrance! Not daring, not crazy and not groundbreaking!
This is a GREAT work or casual scent for men and that is about it!
Ed Hardy/Christian Audigieur scents are BIG right now, because of hype.
If you're paying a lot for this scent.............don't!
Go on Ebay or some other inexpensive cologne selling site!
Tattoo wearing folks need not apply!
Laid back and non-rebel type hop on board this wagon!
Theres something addictive in this fragance, surprisingly the aroma is very rich in various dimensions, the initial moment is imposing, some full-bodied green wall is slowly settling into a trend subtly aromatic, smooth, velvety in contrasts of resinous phases but slightly spicy behind this you can find something fresh-aromatic, quiet woody and balanced aroma.
Yeah, I was surprised by this one too. It's not totally unique, still taking on that "pseudo-dirty" citrus/fruit/wood persona of so many men's fragrances nowadays, but it's unique enough and actually smells..... good.
Anyway, I can't exactly describe it, but it's definitely better than all the other Ed Hardy fragrances IMO. Try it - the longevity is also very good.
i was surprised by this fragrance. it reminds me of what i have worn all my life, the lost, lamented bon ami by hermes. there is a new version of bon ami which is okay too, a good deal lighter tho, and i loved the original. i'm glad to have found the ed hardy, since it has similarities, although there are other sweeter notes on top, i think too many, and it is a bit lighter, tho not so much as the bon ami reformulation. i've always liked dark, spicy orientals that remind me of pipe tobacco. good job with this one, even though i find ed hardy's marketing and style moronic (mass badass? really?). I'll just hide the bottle and smell good.
Despite the ugly bottles from this house, Born Wild smells really nice. On my skin, it's smokey woody and fresh. Interestingly, I also get a subtle sweet gourmand'ish/oriental-like feel here. It can get a little sharp and metallicky but at the same time it gets smooth and sweet. The wood notes smell like oud and cedar to my nose, and it's super nice. So far this is the second best one while Love & Luck is my first best one from this house.
Hate to say this but, after a second try, It still smells really good to me. It's like a mixture of Bond No.9 Saks for Him, Givenchy Play Intense, and a tiny bit of Black XS. I don't know but it has that signature bite that I've experienced with Bond. All the good ones morph into one bottle. My gosh, this is such a good copy!
I ALMOST bought this, but I couldn't help but think to myself... somewhere, somehow.......... this has been done before. The first bottle that came to mind was Dunhill London, and then Hugo Boss Man. Next image was Lacoste Pour Homme, between all of that... Born Wild fits in perfectly. Too perfectly. There are better options, although the best thus far from the Ed Hardy line.
I tested this at the store... I was surprised it smelled soooooooo dang good! This is the kind of cologne that totally represents me... I really love the smell... I don't like the bottle but the scent is awesome!
Ed Hardy's Born Wild smells very much like they took 1 million's top notes and added grape cough syrup and made the scent completely off that. Scent is pleasant at best, medicinal at worst, 4 hrs of great sillage and 2 hours of good sillage,4-6 hrs longevity.
Bottle worthy? No. Sample worthy ? meh.
Overall Love and Luck still remains my preferred Ed hardy fragrance and the only full bottle I've purchased.
This one really surprised me! I tested it yesterday afternoon, and the smell on the test strip is still just as strong 12 hours after being applied; and smells even better than it did at first. In my opinion, the mens Ed Hardys have gotten better with each new release. Christian Audigier is so good at what he does; and it would seem he is getting even better...
This begins very nice with the orange and the apple being tart and sweet (but not too sweet, like BW for women). The prescence of ambrette seed's woody muskiness and cardamom's smooth spiciness set the stage for the wonderful drydown to come. The heart has florals, yes-jasmine and neroli (bitter dry neroli balances the sweet sensual jasmine quite well); but the ozone and pink pepper keep it airy and sort of zingy...without getting too hot or spicy. This is a very well-blended scent! The drydown is heavenly...if you have ever been to the mountains in California, you know the very distinct smell of the palo verde trees-this captures the essence of that smell along with a very dry, almost soapy sandalwood. Very manly, natural and almost spartan in it's simplicity. No musk, no patchouli, no vetiver-very refreshing and different from all the other mass market mens scents out there. I would say it is a woody green aromatic, myself. Give this a sniff, it might just surprise you...it sure surprised me!
Sillage: average to good
Longevity; Impressive!
Overall: 4.25/5
This is on my list to Santa! The 5 piece gift set (3.4 oz EDT, 3.4 oz shower gel, 2.5 oz deodorant stick, 1/4 oz EDT mini SPRAY and Ed Hardy luggage tag)is the same price (retail) as the large bottle-well worth the price of 75 bucks! I also smelled some of the other new fragrances at the mall...but THIS stole the spotlight from all of them and I can honestly say I'm Impressed!! Somehow I just knew this was gonna be a winner with that name, especially since I'm kind of "wild" myself, and always have been! BIG Thumbs up...way UP!
