21 by CoSTUME NATIONAL is a woody floral musk fragrance for women and men. 21 is a new fragrance and it was introduced in 2007. The nose behind this fragrance is IFF. Top notes are orange blossom, amber, milk, cashmere wood and saffron; middle notes are labdanum, caraway, oakmoss, bergamot and pepper; base notes are tonka bean, patchouli, vanilla, clary sage, vetiver and cedar.

I tested this right at the start of my parfumania, and it was too challenging for me then. Or rather, I could not smell any difference between this and a zillion other spicy scents.

I'm so glad I revisited.
This is really, really wonderful. It has that same rum-raisin cinnamon candied fruits goodness going on that Ambre Narguilé does, but the sweetness is toned down.
The heart is softly spicy and unisex teetering on the edge of masculine. There is a smooth milky quality about it that makes it intensely comforting to me.
A must-try for any spice lover.

*I have to amend this to include the far dry-down, which I only now noticed: a gorgeous vanilla-ish skin scent that lasts and lasts. Very intimate and attractive.

And may I just say how completely incongruous the ad image is? Such a minimalistic image for a lush milky oriental.

It's quite a lot rougher and masculine in comparison to the other CN scents. Very spicy and woody and it seems to smell like a lot of other things (based on various reviews around the place). I can't quite place what I think it smells like but at a quick estimate it's along the lines of Michael Kors for Men. It's not as soft as the others, a bit sharper and drier.

Sweet and soft, very spicy fragance. It starts milky, with a mix of notes where the cumin is the star. I can't get the flowers or citrus here, only soft spices, as a delicious tea. It's comfortable and wearable, with moderate sillage. I think of it as a fall-winter fragance.
It reminds me a lot of Annayake Tsukimi.
