The new fragrance line by Comme des Garçons introduced in April 2008 comprises three fragrances which come with the motto: "Wake up, feel positive, be positive". The awakening and positive energy are brought by the notes of lime, grapefruit and lemon each defining one of the fragrances named after the refreshing and luminous citruses they are based on.

Energy C Grapefruit is composed of black currant buds, pink grapefruit, and petitgrain in the top. The heart reveals jasmine accords, neroli and yellow mandarin, while the base includes musk, moss and iris.

The fragrance comes in 30ml (1 fl.oz.) size.

Grapefruit is a notoriously difficult note for me. While I love the acrid bitterness of the actual fruit, in perfumed form it often has a weird urinous edge to it, or is drowned in sugar to offset the bitterness.
I liked this version of grapefruit as it avoided those pitfalls, but I thought there was little grapefruit to be had - more orange or neroli or the other supporting notes. It's the "darkest" of the series, which makes it the most interesting for me. ("Darkest" in quotes because it's not really dark - just relatively) And I guess it helps that I have no dish washing liquid association with grapefruit/orange as I do with lime/lemon.
It stays zesty, almost sparkling, unsweet. I tested it in winter, which may not be the best season for it. I'd lump it with Eau d'Orange Verte as a wearable twist on classic colognes, although I'm still not tempted to buy it.
