Aventus Creed for men Pictures

Aventus celebrates strength, vision and success, inspired by the dramatic life of war, peace and romance lived by Emperor Napoleon. The bottle is emblazoned with a silver emblem of a horse and rider.

The finest ingredients were hand-selected for this composition, and father and son developed this provocative, masculine and optimistic fragrance as a joint effort.

Top notes: blackcurrant, bergamot, apple and pineapple. Heart: rose, dry birch, Moroccan jasmine and patchouli. Base: oak moss, musk, ambergris, and vanilla.

Aventus is available in flacons of 30, 75, 120 and 250 ml. Aventus was launched in 2010. Aventus was created by Olivier Creed Sixth Generation and Erwin Creed Seventh Generation.

Aventus Fragrance Reviews

del

Writing as a casual fragrance user, I think the fruity opening is fresh and inviting, and as the scent progresses, I want to sniff it even more. The projection is pretty wide for the first 30 to 45 minutes, then becomes a personal cloud for a few hours, before sitting on skin the rest of the way. There’s an inconsistent ash note in the middle, comparable to a cigarette ashtray; sometimes I smell it, sometimes I don’t. Aventus dries down to a nice musky scent with faint sweetness.

Just like GIT, Aventus has an average longevity on my skin, but lasts very long on unwashed shirt. It’s a nice fragrance -- hyped and pricey, but worth a try/sample.

Initial srpay I got pineapples with rubber, it kind of reminded me of Fahrenheit by Dior but fruitier and fresher. At first I was bored by it, but then it completely transforms into a power monster. It's fruity, citrusy, metallic, smoky. Great for any weather, specially summer. It's a manly smell. Try it, it's still a Creed.

I already tried Aventus on a paper strip a year ago, and it didn't strike me. Now I'm getting back to it, to see why people are raving about it. Firstly I'd like to say that I'm starting this review from nothing, I'm just giving a non biased opinion based on what I think. Given the crazy hype around the fragrance and the reactions of its... fans, I'd better precise it.

So. On my skin it turns into a smoky pineapple scent, I get a hint of black currant, some oak moss with birch wood, and that's all.
Not a bad scent if you ask me, but the problem is : it is really, sickly smoky on myself. Quite overwhelming. It is way gentler on the paper strip, where it (imo) behaves better. It smells fresher, and overall better blended. I know this is meant to be a smoky scent, but on me it really turned into a sharp and harsh smokiness. And I'm not a fan of fruity scents for men.

I got moderate longevity, something like 3 hours with decent projection (5 sprays in the neck + 1 one on shirt). I have no idea if it has anything to do with the "batch case".

Some people told me they liked it, that it was an original scent.
Some women described the scent as (I quote) : "the interior of an old cab with some sort of air freshener inside". I tended to agree with that. It was really unpleasant, too bad.

Interesting stuff, but Aventus really isn't for me as I didn't feel comfortable wearing it. And given the price and the batch issues, it's a pass for me (100€ /100ml). At this price, every single bottle has to be perfect. Sorry Creed.

I recently acquired the infamous Z01 batch in a 4 ounce flask and I guard this fragrance like it's gold. I've received compliments from women and men, who both strongly desired to know the name of the fragrance. Surprisingly, upon informing them of the price of a 4 ounce bottle, the reaction was similar and they did not care, they wanted the fragrance regardless of price. In one day, I received five compliments in a 8 hour shift and one of the females begged me for a decanted size bottle and wanted her boyfriend to wear it badly. She even went so far to travel from another city to my place of work on her off day to obtain the decanted bottle. Truly, Aventus works magic and is absolutely superior in longevity compared to the rest of the Creed line. Aventus is in your face but strangely not overpowering or offensive. IMO, it is an exotic mixture of fruit (blackcurrant/royal pineapple), rich brand new leather, wood, and a touch of patchouli that sets this apart from any other fragrance I've encountered. I cannot detect any other notes other than the aforementioned. Many of the Creed lines have Millesime written on them and are identified as Eau de Parfum but as far as I see it, this is the only fragrance that meets the gold standard in those two categories, in terms of longevity, projection/sillage. You will get your moneys worth with Aventus without any shadow of a doubt.

The God of all fragrances!!! Complements at work and everywhere in between. Just putting it on makes me feel better. Longevity and projection are 9 out of 10. A bit pricey but worth it!!! Just walking into a meeting smelling like this an knowing that no one else smells as good is priceless in my opinion.

Would never run out of Aventus, Creed did it with this one.

We need to open here another blog and call it PSYCHANTICA (for personal abuses).
To the fragrance: it was one of only 2 or 3 fragrances that I loved from the first second of the first spray. It is one of only 5 fragrances that score a perfect 10 from me. It is one of only 3 fragrances with perfect performance (for me) - longevity and projection just as they have to be with fragrance for men.
Everyone who smelled Aventus on me loved it (not just liked). And I love it even more. Masculine, elegant, fresh and inoffensive.
Aventus is a modern masterpiece!

Either there is a bad batch out there, some folks skin is drinking this stuff like crazy, or there are anosmia issues or something going on.

Wesley, I trust your experience. While our tastes in fragrance are sort of night and day, I find your observations usually quite on the mark in regard to the nature and lifespan/potency of a fragrance. The only thing I could say is that Aventus is a fragrance that I have read several times, the wearer loses sense of, but is often picked up by those around him for quite a while after that time. However you do have the convinient spousal sniffing associate to depend on, so I suspect perhaps the tester was off or your skin drank it up like mine does with some scents.

SeverinoDuJour, forgive the harshness, but either your nose is completely broken, or you are completely full of #!%!% and shovelling it like a madman for whatever reason angry little men find to shovel angry !#%!% on the internet, be it to troll, or god forbid, something as pathological as brand envy or the like. 20 minutes. They were gone after 20 minutes? Even fakes last longer than that, and for each and every fragrance you have tried by the brand? Yeah... Right.

I don't disbelieve that you all no longer smelling it in the time frame you indicate, but I have tested 3 batches of Aventus, and they have all had considerable longevity.

*My sample from surrendertochance (the "extra smokey batch I think" lasted me from about 11AM when I got the package, and poured a um, splat on (using the Ogre system of measurements) until about 2AM, and was still a skinscent the next morning at 7:00AM.

*My full bottle, from fragrance.net, batch C02, I watched like a HAWK, spraying at just after 11:15AM, when the package was delivered, I opened it, checked the batch numbers on the bottle and box etc, and promptly spritzed once (that's 1 Creed Bottle damn, that's-a-big-spritz in the Ogre measurement system) on my arm and paper. The next afternoon, at almost 6PM, I could still smell the birchsmoke, apple and pineapple on my upper left forearm where the test spritz was. This batch stays on my shirt for 3+ days

*My decant of batch Z01, the "infamously long lived" batch honestly was little different from the other two. Staying strong for 8+ hours, staying as well more than a skin scent after that, and being there in the next morning and staying on cloth for days.

I mean no one should take my word as gospel, but there are hundreds of reviews out there. Anyone doing their reseach should have a good idea of the general performance of popular fragrances like these after some research, and by all means, given the price, everyone throwing their money at something this expensive for the purpose of smelling good SHOULD be doing that research. And testing too.

I am fine with negative reviews, I want to really see all *honest* reviews, as they add to the big picture, be they positive or negative. In fact I often appreciate the negative reviews even more, because the dissenting opinion can say a lot. But when angry nutcases with some sort of grudge or axe to grind decide to waste their time to spread misinformation and heaps of pure manure because some brand's popularity makes their manhoods seem a bit smaller, they really need to be called on it.

But hey, by all means, continue protesting that the fragrances last on you 20 minutes - hell, why not shorten it to 10, or 5, and make the ranting and raving even more hyperbolic. And of course continue to make sock puppets to throw thumbs down at reviews which don't match yours, because if that's what you need to feel empowered, I really cannot deny you that little pleasure.

Is this a joke? I mean, this IS a joke, right?

I sprayed this on myself - five or six close sprays, including on my tee shirt. I got a citrus/pineapple scent at first and a nice smoky note I liked - then it was gone. In about an hour and a half. I can barely smell it on my cotton tee-shirt.

No longevity, no sillage. This was from a Nordstrom sample, by the way. A premium department store selling premium scents.

What is all the hype about?

My wife says it's "woodsy." She's as unimpressed as I am.

The ONLY problem one might meet while buying this scent is maybe hitting the so called "wrong batches" with longevity issues but otherwise this is LOVE in a Bottle, the hype is not really for nothing. But like I always say, try it out yourself and you make an independent test. I certainly love it so much, just really cant afford a good 75ml bottle, not yet. I do spray once in a while though from the small 5ml decant I grabbed myself.

As i've been reading about it i had big expectations.

Everyone raves about this one, and I love pineapple and apple notes, but the smokiness that was always described sort of made me leary, as did the general Creed hype train, but after I sampled it, I was quite impressed.

Aventus starts off with a blast of very nice, fresh pineapple. However, while this pineapple seems to be the aspect of the fragrance which gets the most attention, it is not the heart of the fragrance. Rather, it's just a prelude. The fresh, sweet pineapple soon transitions into a warmer, less sweet, less sharp roasted pineapple, and the star of the show, the real core of the fragrance starts to sing. That is the rich, wonderful, smokey birchwood/birch tar blend, which will take center stage for the rest of the fragrance's lifespan.

The roasted pineapple never goes away, mind you, but it goes from holding the spotlight at the opening, to complementing the smokey birch from the background, never too far out of sight, but always serving more to augment the warmth and richness of the birch than making itself stand out in the open. A roasted apple also joins the pineapple, in the same role.

All of these notes blend together incredibly well, and I have yet to smell a fragrance which even comes close to this in character. It's not my favorite, it's not even my favorite Creed, but it is quite unique in what it does. None of the "smells like" listed, at least as of this time come close. Instead it seems folks just assume that the pineapple opening is the whole story of Aventus, and proclaim anything else with a pineapple opening analogous to it, which, unfortunately is dead wrong. I'm sure someday there will be fragrances which do start to imitate the smokey birch/roasted pineapple/roasted apple heart of the fragrance, but as of yet at least, it's certainly not like with other Creed fragrances, where inexpensive alternatives do fairly closely offer a similar scent profile (e.g. Cool Water/Green Irish Tweed, and Mugler Cologne/Original Vetiver).

Longevity and projection/sillage are remarkable. While it doesn't fill a room as readily as say, A*men, a couple sprays of Aventus will be noticeable to others for 8 hours at least. As others have noted, there is a peculiar phenomenon where the wearer can experience some degree of olfactory exhaustion to it, and not realize it's still projecting well after a few hours, but it definitely does. In addition, I've had it lingering as a very nice skin scent for over 30 hours after the initial spraying. Not a typo, 30 hours. Crazy stuff.

Aventus really isn't the One True Fragrance, forged in Mount Creed by the Dark Lords of Fragrance, to rule all other fragrances, but it definitely is remarkable. I wouldn't buy it at list price, but if one can find a good price/deal from a discounter, or work with others splitting a flacon to reduce the cost significantly, it becomes a much more palatable purchase. Still, even at that price, absolutely try to get a sample, or small decant, before you buy.

This is the best Creed in recent years and probably one of the bests ever.

On my skin the opening is metallic and a little bit harsh to my nose. However, it quickly dries down to a fantastic scent in which woody-chypre facet is dominant and is smoothed by fruity notes.

The scent is pretty unique, ultra classy, and super stylish but obviously cold and detached in nature. Highly recommended to people who want something with these qualities.

Longevity and projection are good. Overall: 9 out of 10.

My two cents on the aventus beast....it's good. Not a groundbreaking, stop the world cologne but its good. I don't get the beast mode projection folks talk about and I have the 2012 e01 batch. For the price tag that it carries, I would expect at least 10 hours on my skin...I get maybe 7 if I'm lucky. It does get you compliments when it's projecting for the 3-4 hours that it does. It's the name on the bottle that reads "creed", that is truley what you are paying for with this one, not the scent itself. Is it a good scent, absolutely! Is it derserving of the elite all star greatest cologne of all time recognition it has been getting, I have to say no. The hype beasts will continue to elevate this cologne and it is truly derserving of some of it, but not all. All things considered with aventus, I give it a 7/10

So this is my 5th Creed and I have to say, I am ultimately underwhelmed by this house. I truly like my Creed scents, so don't get me wrong. But I have several issues with them all. This particular scent is decent. I get the pineapple and apple at the beginning. But the smoke is prominent and kind of covers up most of the fruit throughout the whole experience. I think Fragrantica should update their profile based off of Creed's new interpretation of this juice. Apparently the fruity sweetness of the original batch is gone, replaced by an over abundance of oakmoss, leather and wood. If Creed is going to continue changing each batch like they do with most scents, they need to drop their price by half. One of the things that I look for in the more pricey niche houses is consistency, longevity, and sillage. Creed's longevity and sillage is usually average, but nothing compared to monsters like Montale where you really get your moneys worth (1 or 2 sprays and you're radiating 5-6 feet for hours!) But their consistency gets a big fail. Even with Virgin Island, mine is sweet and fruity with 2-3 hours longevity and my father's is sweet and smoky with 5-6 hours longevity. What gives Creed?

I refuse to buy a bottle at retail even though this is perhaps my favorite frag. I've purchased 2 decants and the batches were inconsistent. I love the pineapple batch. The smokey batch not so much. I read on some forum that this guy called Creed and Neiman Marcus re: the pineapple batch and he was told it's no longer available. But, I was recently at NM and the tester smelled like that good ol' pineapple batch to me. So the only place I know where I can get that pineapple batch I love so much is NM and it cost too much IMO.

All though a decent fragrance, the batches are so inconstant to be $150-315 a bottle. One will have more defined pineapple notes where as another might have strong pine/woods. I find RL Purple Label a much better cologne than this at fraction of the price. Alot of Creeds are disappointment to me, but to each their own.

I happened to stumble upon this one by chance.I was shopping for anniversary gift for my wife and trying out N0 5 from Channel. Meanwhile, the salesman just recommended testing Aventus. I did not even know the brand till that point or check the price either :-))

It was in the late evening that I got this sprayed on my wrist and usually any perfume lasts 3-4 hours on my skin. I was amazed at the whiffs that regularly got from this while having dinner and many times before going to bed. To my utter surprise, even when I got up in the morning, I could still smell it on my wrist and this never happened before with me and the best point was that it was growing on me hour by hour. I started loving it more and more as smelled it either with whiff that I got while moving my hand or intentionally smelling the wrist. I am a big fan of musk at the dry down and this was the perfect one for me.
The next day I went back to the shop and almost shocked when I heard the price:-)) I was not sure would it be worth spending that kind of money on a perfume. Since my birthday was approaching, my wife decided to buy it for me and this is my prodest collection so far.

As mentioned many times by others, please do not go by the review on this or get bothered by the controversies - just try for yourself and make a decision. If you like the fragrance ( which is always an individual preference not any brand, price or contents), you will be the happiest person to have made the decision to buy Aventus.

Salutes to Creed for making this wonderful potion.

my original review of this was scathing, and although it receieved a lot of balloons I am going to have to agree with some of the people on here in the complement department. It's amazing how people notice this on me far far far after I stop smelling it. I normally never have strangers mention my fragrance, but with this guy they have. Just another 2 cents:

I've recently enjoyed wearing this one to work, as it seems to disappear after 4 hours or less to my nose, remaining extremely close to the skin. So it made sense to me to wear to work, if it's so soft. Or so I thought.

I get complements constantly until the end of my shift, as people say "you've been smelling like a rock star all shift, my man." And I work 12+ hour shifts. "What is that? I smelled you down the hall before I even approached you... you smell so good!"

I think I have the more smokey version (not lot z, mine is lot A42B12 etc.) and though I'm sorta peeved at Creed for it's alleged major inconsistencies this is apparently still a beautiful version both to smell and wear. Very pleased with my purchase, however, remain curious to smell this other half. I will be sniffing bottles at department stores until I find out the truth for myself.

When this first came out back in 2010/11, it was very strong and had a strong smokey pineapple note and longevity/projection was excellent. I do not get that with the newer bottles I tested at Nieman's. Aventus suffers from severe quality control issues and there are threads upon threads on Basenotes dedicated to that.

Creed Aventus
It is freshness with a twist..
Spicy
Clean
Not too sweet (not too fruity.. Still masculine)
Comfy
Office safe
Daily-casual fragrance
The opening is fresh & mood-lifting.. I got the "aahh so nice effect".. Love the opening.. ;D
Top notes reminds me of Dolce & Gabbana's Light Blue for woman (the lemon-y freshness).. But off course Aventus is more masculine (spicier), more rounded, not too chemical smelling (just slightly, so i could endure, & started appearing in heart notes)..
Heart notes become more spicier (heavier) while it gradually (pretty fast) loss its freshness.. T.T
Heart notes slightly reminds me of Hermes' fragrances (Terre, Eau Des Merveilles, Voyage)..
Too bad the freshness doesn't live up long enough.. Soo for me it's just average.. Just "like" not "love"..

I actually bought Green Irish Tweed thinking that this would be a safe bet and that I would not be disappointed as it's their top-selling fragrance, along with the history behind it being designed for Cary Grant, and with its earthy, green always present notes would be perfect for spring. However, Aventus is one of those fragrances that tops anything I have ever had or ever worn. The top notes definitely are citrusy pineapple or what I originally thought could be mango. But it's not "too fruity" as it is balanced with a mesmerizing masculine combination of patchouli, woodsy oak, and a very gentle musk. On a wonderful 75° sunny day it just begs for you to wake up and spray it on and greet the world with a smile and confidence. I cannot see how this fragrance would ever disappoint or offend anyone. I think the signature trademark of a classic fragrance is not what you smell on the spray card, or what you think after 30 seconds of it being on your skin, because had I judged this fragrance just on that alone, I would've thought it was too sporty, too clean, too safe... and not something that would stand up for the price tag. As like all Creed fragrances, the natural oils and ingredients as opposed to the synthetic crap that you can purchase for under fifty bucks is a reason that you choose a Creed fragrance to begin with. Whether you are looking at Silver Mountain Water, Green Irish Tweed, Himalaya, Millesime Imperial, Santas,... there is surely to be one out there that justifies saving up for that wonderful first introduction into the house. But this cologne is absolutely wonderful, and complex without being pretentious.

This is my second review as I just got the 2013 bottle. I also still have a 2011 bottle which is the pineapple one everyone raves about. The 2013 is very smoky, everyone says this is not the good version of aventus. I was very disappointed with my buy at first. But I had faith, I tried it and have been wearing it for the past 8 hours.

Conclusion: The smoky charred smelling one is the real Aventus. Its found also in the pineapple one but not as pronounced. It is just phenomenal. I did some research to find out what is the source of that scent and this is what I got:

Description: The birch tree is native to North America and grows up to 15-20 meters in height. It has slender branches, silver-white bark broken into scales and light green oval leaves.

Color: Dark brown to orange liquid.

Consistency: Thick and viscous

Aromatic Scent: The scent is reminiscent of tar, charred wood and smoke. Many have compared it to the scent of a campfire.

Anyways I don't know which version is better but I will update. Right now the smoky version everyones shying away from is the better one. Its got a better rose essence in it too. truly is spectacular. Also the reason there is variation is because the ingredients they use are real and just like on apple is tastier but the other is more aromatic. The variety in living things is as limitless as the variance in fragrances they produce.

results: Smokey is better if you want to be noticed it projects more, and has a better dry down. Ultimately the people who are shying away from the smoky are wrong. Give it a try. I have both and everyone I asked likes and notices the more smoky aventus.

Pure sophistication in a bottle. The great thing is, is that literally all ages can pull this off, from high schoolers to pensioners.

Sprayed this once on the wrist in the morning, and it's still going strong 24 hours later, I'm amazed. Loving the opening, smokey pineapple vibe going on there. This is also I think a safe blind buy, but it's not worth the insane price tag. Just pick yourself up a 30ml decant for £40. Overall, a clean, fresh, safe, sophisticated smell, worth having in your collection!

Thats the thing with fragrance reviews. It could have poor silage and longevity on one person and also not smell as good but on another it just blends well with their chemistry and magic happens. Magic happened for me and Aventus. I was sooo hestitant after all the research and reading all the conspiracy theories whether true or not and it took me awhile to buy it. I bought a 4oz after having and trying a sample and I couldnt be happier. It last a long time and smells great on my skin.
So with that being said dont let all these negative or positive reviews get to you. They are a great starting point dont get me wrong but you HAVE to try it on your own skin first.
Aventus for me was definitely worth the money.

with that being said, smells decent. i hvae the z01 batch and a single full spray from a creed atomizer on my neck will last quite a while. i will get whiffs of it (without trying to smell it) 10 hours in!

i appreciate the sillage and longevity since it costs so much.

I've been hesitant to review Aventus by Creed because of all of the acclaim. Perhaps it's reputation preceeds itself; I knew more about a cologne called Aventus before I really understood that Creed is a niche perfumery (please, no obnoxious comments) that was in my youth out of my price range.

Enter my adult life. I guess it's fitting, since I don't think young men really need to be wearing mega-expensive stuff, and really - this isn't for kids.

What I get out of this, succinctly, is an above-average, very nearly 'been there, done that' fragrance. However, as one could ascertain from my profile, it's one of my favorite scents of all. How's this possible? Simple, Creed achieves superiority through it's quality and blend of ingredients. I'd rather buy something that smells 99% right than something that's so-so, a maybe, or average but not worth spending 70$ on. Yes, it's expensive. But take heart, it smells original and different. It also changes throughout the day.

It starts fruity. I don't know how much it smells like a cut pineapple, but I'd more equate the smell to a smokey, incense-y plywood kinda of pineapple, mixed with apple peel. Strange description... but that's the best I can describe this. The smokey wood blends well with the fruit mix.

Once it dries on your skin, you'll actually notice the fruity smell remains - which I find fascinating and delightful, as that sort of smell usually dissipates first - though the woody, smokey notes tend to blossom strongest. It's interesting to read the ingredients, and then pick out totally different scents. It's crafted in such a way that the cologne really needs to be worn to be experienced. I almost pick up something aquatic about it, too.

I think it's more a springtime summer scent, but with the wood and incense, one could argue that it's an appropriate cooler weather scent as well. Personally, I'd be happy to smell year-round.

Aventus for me is not some kind of world changing super frag, as it is often portrayed. Rather, it is just a beautifully composed fragrance that smells familiar, yet breaks new ground, is made of (and smells it) quality ingredients, and has real progression, great projection and longevity.

At first blast I get a wash of pineapple, really fresh and sweet, it's juicy stuff... After 20-30 minutes the pineapple dies down and an ashy accord develops that forms the heart of the fragrance. I guess this is a combination of the birch and patchouli, but it is so well blended, I could only call it 'ashy perfection'. Projection is stellar for the first 4-6 hours, after the 6 hour mark projection comes back and I get hours of lovely skin scent, punctuated by wafts of juice smokey pineapple that has returned for round two. For the final part of the drydown, 10hours +, the pineapple reasserts itself as a delicious skins scent as the ashy accord vanishes over time. This is complimented by Creed's trademark drydown.

Is it worth the hype? No, of course not. But the real surprise for me is the incredibly high quality juice, it's the jewel that hides behind all the BS... and it's rather special.

I love all the upturned noises at the price. Cheap colognes may smell similar and give headaches because they are made with chemicals. With expesnsive colognes you are paying for essential oils. Which gets girls that want to stay close to you, not just passer byers smelling it for a few seconds and giving you a compliment. Our ol-factory senses are POWERFUL, YOU CHEAPSKATES!!! Its believed that noses can smell DNA and that helps us find a compatible mate. So if you skimp on cologne be ready for skank sex. Otherwise leave cheap colognes behind...you are annoying your co-workers.

they dont have bad fragrance but in no way its 250$ niche smell that is the problem with creed.

A 250$ fragrance have to project and last for ever you dont pay for the hype you pay for the amazing quality , and with Creed everyone know that the quality control or production is one if not the worst out there so cmon this all Creed think make no sence at all are you all fool or you just want to be in the boys club

I really dont get the big deal here. I have a 120mL bottle of the z01 batch and this is your average fragrance. I definitely appreciate the performance though; i get whiffs from 2 sprays of this thing 12 hours in. And im talking fresh citrus whiffs, not even the ambergris base yet.

Although i dont like the scent much, i appreciate the longevity and sillage. Im also curious to see how this would smell in the heat of a humid summer in NYC.

This is probably one of the best fragrances I've come across in a long time. I really put off giving this one a try for a long time mainly because of the price but I finally broke down and bought a bottle and I couldn't be more pleased. Aventus is "modern" without being typical. My girls love it and I get extreem longevity and sillage from this Creed.

This cologne is a master piece and possibly one of the best colognes ever made. A friend described it as, "It smells like a creamy gust of wind from heaven." It really does. You can smell the apple, pine and authentic ambergris. It's like nothing I've ever smelled before. Whenever I wear it, people go nuts trying to figure out what smells so amazing. The smooth, creamy ambergris, musk and fruit work together almost magically. When I smell this, burning Christmas trees doused in buttery apples comes to mind. I can assure you. If you buy this. You will be smelling the cap every morning like an addict.

I think the controversy over Aventus is simply that once the novel fruit opening has done its dash, at its heart Aventus is a decent blend of soft, innocuous oils. Jasmine, rose, vanilla, musk, it's all a bit bland, albeit high quality stuff. For me these ingredients evoke very little, but I'm happy to have this scent on my daywear list because it's perfect for the office, subtle, clean and professional, and it's hard to overdose on.

Is it worth the money? I don't think you can go wrong with the signature Creeds, so compared to the X number of risky scents out there, this is a decent investment. But when it's finished, which will be ages I expect, I don't think I'll buy a replacement. I think a good fragrance should define a person, and I don't think Aventus does that.

I think this is a valuable perfume for what you get! I have not come across more compliments than with this one! so why complain? it costed me about 170 dollars, but so what? :) It's my nr 1 fragrance and I use it for special occasions only! So I will have it for many years I think! :) Z01 batch of course :)
Some say it smells like Jaguar and Fresco, but hounestly people, it doesnt, at least not to my nose! Maby to the average nose? :)
This is a masterpiece and it always stay on my skin and project good for like 3-5 hours on my skin! :)
I also love the bottle, it's beautiful! Some people wants to complain all the time ab out the "hype" on this fragrance, if you dont like it, fine, good for you! You are not "special" in my eyes just because you dont like this fragrance! Everyone wants to be "special" and love their own stuffs, thats just silly!
This perfume will always be deep in my heart! :) 10/10 no questions!
Price 10/10 - worth every penny for all the compliments u get!
Projection 10/10 - maby best of all my scents?
Longevity 10/10 - at least 8-14 hours on my skin!
Best of all, you can wear it every season! :)

you don't need to pay the retail price it's just mental thing that you will get the reall deal or the original stuff !!! ,Fragrancenet.com ,Perfume4us.com and alote of sellers on Ebay they having a great deals on it , the only reason why they sell it for cheaper price than the retailer price is that they get it from the middle east specially from the Gulf countries where you can find it way cheaper than anywhere else , I'm studying Canada and I'm Originality From Kuwait , when i went back home in the summer time i got my Aventus(A42b12c02)from one of the stores there for 50 Kuwaiti dinars witch is almost 150$ , because what the stores do they buy there stuff from the supplier by the value price while the big stores there they get it from the supplier for cheap and sell it almost 85 Kuwaiti dinars ( 250$ ), when i got back to Canada i purchased another Aventus from creed boutique for 380 $ after the taxes and shipping wondering does smell different or not , they all Exactly the same !! .

so this what some sellers with great deals do, they get it all the way from there (middle east) for value price and sell them for good price comparing with the retailer's , some people asking why the hell we have creed products with some Arabian descriptions card inside the box , Creed have different production lines , the Arabian one they put the Arabian description cards in the boxes and the international one they put the multiple languages description cards .

hope you guys have a great sharp deals on this monster so we all smell good without ripping our pockets lol .

Aventus, translates a Creed in its modernity.
Little chypre by moss presence, and the intense fruity chord, this beautiful perfume opens with a pineapple remarkable and very intense, as few natural.
This note mingles apple, which gives a sweet touch as well as the subtlety of blackcurrant. These two are adjuncts of pineapple, a note legitimate and even better than the fruit itself.
The heart is slightly woody, with hints of patchouli and birch, few flowers around subtle and hardly noticeable.
That sweet aroma of pineapple sweet and hotter, slightly woody is after a while meets the moss and musk at the base, oh that makes it a more elegant , chypre really, but nothing oldschool, but very modern. It's a real sexy pineapple and royalty, but that should not be judged on first impression.

I have to admit that I was wrong with my initial review. I learned that I have to wear a fragance more than once and give it sometime before I pull the triger. With that being said, I actually love the smokiness now. Not only that, but the more and more that I wear it, the more I love it. Is it a complement getter? YUP! The E01 batch gets 2 thubs up from me now. But I can only imagine how the z01 and x02 batches smelled. Regardless of what batch it is, (IMO) this thing is a BEAST!

I like salty notes so this should be down my alley... but I am not in love-

here's the thing:

On a number of occasions I have eaten meat dishes cooked with pineapple slices. About half the time, whoever cooks these meals will either spill a handful of salt onto a pineapple slice (the one that will end up on my plate)and neglect to spread it around; or else, maybe pineapples --in general-- just attract salt no matter where the salt spreads... Either way, I always end up spitting food into a napkin and reaching for water. Not an experience I particularly need captured in a bottle.

Okay... given it a little more time...I still feel pretty much the same way for myself, I don't want to wear it-- but as with most Creed fragrances, I would like this on a woman. Because the salty note here is paired with sweet/tangy instead of citrus and because the musk lays low here, there is something briney about it. To me, that brininess is particularly feminine and attractive... This is a pretty close scent. for necks. for nuzzling.

Based on Napoleon's life? I don't care!
Similar to Vision? I don't think so!
The most amazing fragrance I've ever owned? Absolutely!
Other than the opening I get more apples than pineapples, I could taste it along with the blackcurrant and the birch.
During the day my batch-Y01- is a fresh fruit cocktail, during the night the smokiness comes out like a beast, but not by itself, it brings all the other components you (I) don't get during the day. Its balanced, intriguing, sexy, masculine and unique.
My most complimented fragrance!
I usually go to a bar-club and one of the bartenders a couple of times have told me she knows when I get there even tho she hasn't seen me yet. It causes nose fatigue and you can't smell it but It is a monster when it comes to projection, longevity.

So i got a sample of aventus from neiman marcus yesterday and i wore it tonight on a date with my girlfriend. She immediately noticed the cologne and said how amazing it smelled. She asked what it was, and told me i had to buy a bottle of it ASAP. Keep in mind I already own 17 bottles and she always says how I have enough and don't need to buy anymore but with this one she immediately told me to forget what she said about not buying anymore and get it.

As far as longevity, This one definitely plays tricks on your nose. I couldn't smell it anymore after a few hours but my girlfriend was able to smell it 8 hours later. So definitely has good longevity and pretty solid projection.

One of the biggest complaints people seem to have with creeds are the price, but this is if you buy them at retail price, which i would never do. I have GIT and MI. Each is a 4 oz. that i got for under $150. compare that to $320 retail for a 4 oz. I have gotten my creeds and many other colognes on Amazon and fragrancenet and have saved so much money and havent had a single problem as far as getting a fake or anything. Fragrance Net is very reliable and Amazon is good too, just make sure to check out the reviews for the bottle and the rating of the seller. Your best bet is to buy directly from amazon but i haven't had a problem with any other sellers. Another amazing fragrance by creed.

PS. as for batch numbers... I have tested several different batches and there really isn't any significant differences. Some may have a little more birch, some a little more pineapple, but they all last long and all smell great. Aventus is one of those frags that grows on you. At first i liked it, but was a little turned off by the smokiness in it. After continuing to sample it over time i now love it everything about it. It is one of the most unique colognes around and its uniqueness will get you noticed in a really good way.

Aventus worth the money, is a wonderful scent for me fresh, floral, a perfect scent for any occasion. My lot is the z01, I warn you, do not go more than 3 sprays, it is very strong, but smells fabulous, gorgeous, on me lasted more than 12 hours.

Cons: probably not going to buy more, is very expensive, and is half a salary in my country.

Pros: projection 9/10,

sillage 8/10

longevety 9/10

I finally purchased the myth and the legend Aventus and I have to say it's a great fragrance. I really like the smokey ashy pineapple vibe Aventus displays. It's very unique (Batch #A42B12E01). The Sillage is great. Aventus definitely has a powerful scent trail. That being said, be prepared to get asked a lot "What are you wearing?". That can be a gift and a curse (lol). The only gripe I have with Aventus is the Longevity. I get about 8 hrs however, Aventus will stay on your clothes for weeks. Overall, I really like Aventus a lot. I see this as a cologne that will always be in my collection. This is my second Creed I've purchased (GIT is King) and I look forward to seeing what Creed Millesime Imperial has to offer next.

This is my first review here. In the past year or so I have developed my collection from 3 to 30 or so and Aventus is my favorite for an evenings without question. On me it lasts for hours, and to the next day, and gets great compliments.

On the branding and price - well I selected it in the shop after testing loads of scents over a few weeks so was only focused on the scent. The blurb that comes with it is quite amusing and ok the price is high.

I can believe the comments about variability of batches (mine is S42B11YU1) so testing is a must.

If you are a creed fanboy please look away....

I usually don't like writing these types of negative reviews but I felt obliged in this case. I've always avoided creed fragrances until now, mainly for the ridiculous price point and the fact that frankly, aside from GIT nothing in their cache' really appealed to me.

Recently however I received a bottle of aventus from my mother as a christmas gift and was excited to finally own and wear a fragrance from the famed house. After a few days of wear i find it to be uninteresting and frankly, a huge disappointment. Its fresh, smoky, medicinal pineapple top that everyone raves about is ok. The fragrance rests on a musky, slightly woody base that reminds me a bit of platinum egoiste. The problem is the scent become barely noticeable after two hours. For 300 bucks you get two hours. Forgive me but this is unacceptable. Unless bloomingdales sells fakes, I know it's real and have heard others mention similar problems.

Nose fatigue you say? One million, terre d'hermes, dhi, gucci ph 1 and anything by givenchy are all detectable after 8 to10 hours. How could aventus possibly be an eau de parfum? Couple this with a snooty, preposterous marketing campaign and creed's aventus becomes a hard pill to swallow.

This really isn't my thing and I really despise creed. I will wear this because it was a gift of love from my mom who unwittingly drank the creed kool aid. But guys please. If you're going to invest in one of these, smell it first and make sure you like it. Don't go by the sheep on here who claim this to be a "panty droper" just to justify their purchase.

After I got Aventus, the initial two-sprays was , never last and smokey (batch A42B12xxx). The pineapple and blackcurrant can be tasted in your throat.

Then I went for a shower, and spray all over the body 5-7 sprays, and 3-4 sprays on the arm. The pineapple can be felt very striking, rather than smokey. And it does last many hours, 8-10 (until the next day, very close to skin).

Good perfume, slightly overrated but worth the try if you have the extra penny. Projection is very good, and longevity is very good.

8.5/10 imho.

Had a sampling of Aventus a day ago. It reminded me of an old fashioned scent, like what my father would wear (I'm 36, so that kinda puts an frame to things) or my grandfather, even. This isn't a bad thing at all as many older scents are classics for a reason - just look at AdP Colonia.
I did like Aventus and I was going to get some but I my mind was searching for something else that I had smelt that evoked similar memories. That scent was Trumpers Eucris. They are in some ways quite different in that Aventus has a strong pineapple base augmented with blackcurrant. Eucris has blackcurrant but this is much stronger than with Aventus - almost like blackcurrants that have been freshly picked along with some leaves. Both have plenty of Oakmoss, too, and its this that I think lends them a similar vibe. After an hour they do begin to converge and smell quite close to one another - super masculine and "dry" perhaps a bit dirty, too with Eucris more spicy than Aventus' mild fruits.

For me they serve the same job: Both can be worn any time, both are quite potent scents and both are classically old fashioned. They are as masculine as they come and are made from very natural smelling products.

Of course the cost is a determining factor and Aventus (or any luxury purchase) simply isn't worth the money unless it hits all of your hot buttons and Aventus did. But so did Eucris. Add to this wildly varying accounts of what Aventus actually smells like and I would stick with Eucris.

The Aventus I smelt, for those obsessed with batches, began with C42b11.

When I first purchased this last year, I liked it but thought it was overrated. Good, but not great. At the time, I had started using the reformulated version of Dior Homme Sport and preferred that fragrance (still love it BTW).

My biggest issue was longevity....I didn't think it lasted more than 5 hours on me. Thought it smelled nice...loved the pineapple and smoky vibe. I ended up wearing Dior Homme Sport a lot more this past summer.

This fall I started wearing it a lot more and realized a few things. Longevity wasn't an issue. When I thought it was 'gone' I could detect it hours later. I also realized one other thing: women love this stuff. My wife kept asking me 'what is that? it's the best fragrance you own'. My hairstylist asked me 'what is that, I need to get it for my boyfriend'. I was in an elevator with a few women and both of them kept looking at me and each other and then smiled and asked me 'what fragrance are you wearing? It smells amazing!'.

Dior Homme Intense and Aventus are my two go-to fragrances now. Love this stuff.

Yes, I do agree with vardavas. One tries to give his/her feelings about a scent not for competition or to put something else down. Just to give an honest opinion and I always know I must try it for myself. I even give a thumb up for reviews I don't agree because the person says "that is not my cup of tea". fair enough. But when someone says something that an important mamber of a serious industry community has released a "crap" peerfum, well it is not the truth. But still, everyone has the right to ... I suppose. TRY it for yourself.

I think that people that log in here are interested in the honest description of the cologne aforementioned (which is gravely biased to begin with as everyone's taste varies) and not to the comparison against other colognes that are not even similar!! I'm sorry but saying so and so fragrance is better than Aventus is not very helpful. Also if you desperately want to find a "similar" cologne you might but it won't be this one.

Is this overhyped? It is a crowd pleaser, thats what it is. Usually a cologne that becomes viral is due to the fact that it is liked by owners and gets positive reviews by others, it appeals to most noses. Does this mean that you should like it? By all means no. When there is smoke though, there tends to be a fire...so you should try it for yourself. Who cares if its not original, complex enough etc? What if its linear? if you like it thats all that matters. I don't care if Luca Turin says its crapy, he's not going to be smelling it. I (or you) will...
Is this overpriced? Of course it is! But if you like it and can afford it you should buy it.

As for batches lot numbers (mineA42B12F01) etc. I own Aventus, Imperial and Green Irish Tweed. Either I've been extremely lucky or I don't know what. I get amazing longevity and sillage in ALL of them.

Although I still love Aventus, here is the P.S. to my former review - important information on Aventus:

After a series of consultations and a number of own tests (also confirmed by other "experienced noses"), I have to say what appears on many perfume forums and what arises from my experience as a frequent user of Aventus. Creed, unfortunately, has a serious problem with the reproducibility of the perfume of the same name which is unacceptable and frustrating.

Depending on the batch or year of manufacturing the same perfume (Aventus) smells differently - sometimes it's more fruity (as Aventus I bought over a year ago in the spring), at other times more powdery (which I bought in the summer). One bottle had a fatal projection and sillage, another good. It cannot be explained by the fact that these are only natural ingredients and may vary – Aventus fragrance should always smell the same, regardless of the production batch.

Unfortunately, the result is that in every purchase I cannot be sure whether Creed will be able to produce a batch of perfume as it should be. What surprises me even more is that even mainstream brands or other niche perfume houses do not have a problem with repetition of the same smell – in case of Creed Aventus unfortunately you never know what the next bottle will bring (good or bad projection, a little different smell that you have experienced before).

With this approach, Creed will probably lose some of its customers who have better noses. Nobody wants to buy the well-known and used perfume, which can each time (depending on the batch or production year) smell a bit differently, have significant differences in durability.

Unfortunately, I'm losing my confidence in Creed due to considerable uncertainty as to the final result which I am paying for, especially in case of quite expensive Creed perfume that is supposed to be produced by “one of the most luxurious perfume houses” - but it is not.

Creed definitely has still much work to do and learn from other perfume houses also using natural ingredients. Thumbs totally down to Creed. And shame.

Tried this at Saks and loved it. The smell of it on paper and the subsequent drydown really got me. I could not wait to get myself a bottl until I got a batch that smelled awful and made me wonder what it was that made me like it so much. Synthetic screaming pineapples followed by a wet ashtray/ acrid/burned rubber smell is what I got from my bottle. The sample I smelled was very strong and then slowly evolved into something pleasant but in my bottle the only thing pleasant (sortof) was the blast of pineapple until the wet ash smell came in. I reallly love this fragrance so I will wait to see if it is the so-called batch problem. Im pretty sure this stuff was amazing the first few times i spritzed it on me so Ill wait to give it another chance. If it is a batch problem and I can get back to the Aventus I tried before then this is undoubtedly the best masculine fragrance. It balances sweetness, fruit, and this indescribably unique darkness. I guess if i get a sample that i like from Saks or Niemans I will get that same batch. Frankly its ridiculous how inconsistent this juice can be, especially when its so expensive.

Then on my way home I was at the Starbucks in BNA and 2 hours after applying Aventus one of the young ladies working their said, "Sir, excuse me but you smell so good.. What cologne is that??""

Made me feel it was worth every penny.. 2 compliments and queries in 2 days..

Maybe I am in the minority here, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I think this is an o.k fraagrance, but as stated before, I personally do not think it is worth all of the hype and praises that it receives. While it does project amazingly, on me, it does not seem to last very long and the smell is just plain boring after awhile. I tend to think one of its huge selling points is that I can honestly say nothing else out there smells like this. For this reason alone, I would say it is definitely unique, and may be one of the reasons why everyone loves this so much. Many do like this, but I think one of the only reasons it gets a lot of attention and compliments is because this scent is not your typical "Macys" or Sephora scent, so I think compliments are received because it is so different. I do have the good batch after reading many pointers on what to look for, so I did my research on it before I purchased it. Would I buy a full bottle of this? Definitely not. There are many other fragrances and ones that I have received many more compliments on while wearing them compared to this. It's not a bad scent, if you don't mind walking around smelling like the produce dept at a local grocery store. Very linear scent. What you smell in the beginning, is what you get in the dry down period.

This should be called La Essence of Dole as this is all I get out of this fragrance, and not much else.

A nice scent to me, but that is about all. Somewhat classy, I will give it that, but not the best scent my nose has ever come in contact with.

I consider this to be strictly a "Bandwagon" fragrance

I have never been a fan of Creed because i prefer complexity, harmony in notes and innovation over merely natural ingredients.

But this time i am compelled to praise this gem. Creed Aventus is an awesome release due to its versatility, originality and unpredictable blending of notes, wow, people focus on the fruity (creamy) top notes but the musky /mossy dry down is mesmerizing. An Year round fragrance which is not season/occasion confined. A piece of art i would say.

I agree to possum pie's review. The thing with creed is because of the over hyped celebrity status bestowed on these perfumes, even if the perfume is either ordinary or obnoxious people cannot refrain from praising it.
Ah and to talk of that snob site called basenotes.
that is a site where it is considered very knowledgeable to bash perfumes from lesser known houses, and heap praises on the famous iconic perfumes.
I for one prefer this website for perfume reviews rather than basenotes.
Coming back to creed always wondered the reason for their high prices. I mean even other perfume houses use top of the line natural ingredients but creed is way over priced. Maybe because celebrities and statesmen all over the world has patronised these fragrances, it by default considered very stylish fashionable to praise creed.

I read the reviews on Aventus various sites and for the most part they were positive. I already owned one Creed (Himalaya) and had briefly smelled Aventus prior to purchasing it. Himalaya was so well done that I decided it was time to add another Creed. Even now as I smell it some 10 hours later, I realize I made the right call.

Aventus is definitely well done. My batch was Z01. The apple & pineapple opening took my breath away. BE WARNED! This stuff IS potent. One spray is all I used and it was enough. Within the first hour, I had 5 compliments. Blew me away.

The dry down is a work of art. I can still catch the smokiness, but it is faint. My friends smelled it and were like wow. They repeated this one word for about 10 minutes and kept sniffing me. I think this Creed is a work of art you guys. I won't be wearing it every day for the fact it's not cheap. Would I recommend it? Yeah!! Smell before you buy of course because what is appealing to me, may not be to someone else.

Another job well done Mr. Creed!

Here's another Aventus anecdote to the add to the growing collection among the community. I came into the office today and before putting on my shirt and tie gave it three blasts of Aventus - one on each forearm and one to the chest. After a few hours I noticed some "in joke" among my (female) staff who were smiling at each other when I passed. After a few hours my senior staff, Kathy, approached me with a cheeky smile and, contrary to my expectations, confessed "Can you take the pineapple home, please, none of us like it. It's so strong!". I must have looked crestfallen. Oh no. Not after all the money I spent, and what about "the ladies love Aventus"? To add insult to injury, all this time I had gone anosmic, hankering for just a waft of that smoke and pineapple, and my staff had been choking on it!

I'm laughing about it now, of course (and so are my staff), and maybe Aventus really isn't a good choice for an office environment. I am a bit miffed that Aventus can often deny the wearer the pleasure of the scent but be delighting everyone all around. I term this SBM (Stealth Beast Mode), and especially when it's so expensive it can be annoying.

Update: This is, I'm sad to say, a novelty fragrance. Not what I'm looking for, and not up to Creed's normal high standard. Sold my bottle.

The new GIT for the 21st century! A fragrance masterpiece! Believe the hype! This cologne has it all: unique, versatile, compliment getter...on to the notes...

Top: a gorgeous blend of apple and pineapple...lasts for about 30 minutes. I don't get any bergamot or black current.

Middle notes: primarily white birch with hints of rose/patchouli. And when I say hints I mean hints...very faint...you have to try to pick up these notes to detect them. The birch in this fragrance is what makes this solidly a masculine fragrance and why mant detect "leather." the middle lasts about 2 hours.

Base: the fragrance ends with a soft vanilla and ambergris dry down. The vanilla in this is so enjoyable and what a nice finish...the base lasts about 2 hours...

Throughout the whole dry down you will pick up hints of apple, pineapple, rose, patchouli...beautiful...very few masculines can accomplish what Aventus does...there will not be another fragrance like this for another couple of decades...wow...

Creed...poor longevity poor sillage, and a religious following that spend countless hours debating the different BATCH NUMBERS of Aventus. Come on, if you can't purchase this frag. without researching which batch you are getting, that is poor quality control. The samples I have tried DID vary greatly. The first smelled like pineapple juice mixed with an ashtray. the wet ashes smell is awful. The next batch had little pineapple and more cigarette butt smell. Overpriced and a status symbol. If you want to look cool and hip on Basenotes, buy this.

This is a really great frag. This is a fragrance you HAVE TO WEAR CORRECTLY guys. I have been all over the INTERNET looking for how to wear this fragrance to get the best results for both YOU and the people around you. There are SOOO many opinions on this I actually contacted the creed boutique and even though it is an opinion, it is THEIR opinion. Erwin Creed said TWO sprays on the wrist if YOU want to enjoy it, OR (NOT AND!) two sprays on the back of the neck for OTHERS to enjoy. People talk about how this scent fades quickly. Guys, let me tell you, THIS FRAG DOES NOT FADE QUICKLY. Your BRAIN just shuts off the smell for your benefit. If you keep spraying this stuff you will offend others around you and you will be "that guy." DO NOT GO MORE THAN 3 sprays with this stuff!!!; and if you DO go 3 make sure the 3rd is under your clothes...as in under your shirt. This is a frag that You wear and not the other way around. If somebody says "hey man you smell like Aventus" that is NOT a compliment and you have warn toooo much. The reviewers on YouTube on this fragrance really need to do more research on how to wear a frag and should quit acting like experts. It's not just about personal opinion but for the sake of others. Less is more with this frag. I wore 3 sprays on the skin at a restaurant and it offended a couple behind me to the point that they made a comment to the waitress. Trust me....If YOU can't smell it DOES NOT MEAN others cant!!! You have been warned. NOSE FATIGUE will set in with this fragrance, so you amateurs that say "I can't smell it after 2 hours" trust me others can!

Also, I have smelled both batches, BOTH are Aventus. There is really no such thing as a BETTER batch. These are made with ingredients of natural oils, there may be some differences because no two pieces of art are alike. If you wear the 03, 02, or the 01 ITS ALL AVENTUS. People really if you complain about the batch code on a creed fragrance you may want to go with something like an "aqua de Geo" or a "cool water" those are probably more up your ally. You will get complimented on both and both smell uniquely great! There are also variations and other creed frags that you never hear any complaints about. Let the creeds be for the refined and confident and not for the cry baby's who don't understand that quality comes in many different shades. Aventus is Aventus.

My first review of any fragrance will be on one of my favorites...Creed Aventus! I will not bother to break down the science of this masterpiece since its already been done relentlessly on this site. Yes the scent is not for everybody and the price will be steep for some but lets be honest guys what we really want to know is will this impress the ladies? Oh yes!

My first impressions of Aventus was a sweet citrus flavor with a dash of fancy Cuban cigar. Its sexy, elegant, and dirty in a positive kind of way. I have a friend who swore her boyfriends cologne was the best (don't know what it was) and one day she smelled me wearing Aventus and said "Oh my God that smells so goooood what is that?" I said its called Man Secret haha! I just get a kick out of getting compliments on a scent not many are familiar with. It will last long and change scent as it goes which is where I think the high price pays off! You can spray this on yourself for any occasion but personally I will only wear this on special occasions and first dates.

So if you are willing to pay a high price for a unique fragrance I do recommend Aventus. And if you get access to a sample please take advantage of it before you buy. The fact people talk about Aventus so much (even the haters) shows you got something special here.

Okay, so somebody has probably said this before but incase anyone missed ill write it here: Take all the fresh fruit from this concotion and stick it on a skewer, throw it on the grill and smoke it with wood chips, BOOM Creed Aventus! Ok, not exactly, but with such a vibrant fresh opening, you get that strong ripe pineapple/apple opening its delicious and then soon enough it gets smokey/woodsy leaving you with just the after taste of the pineapple and then it becomes more of a musky/ambergris close to the skin scent. When i first got this, major olfactory fatigue, after using this scent for sometime I was able to tolerate it better and pick up on it even after hours of application. This is not my number 1 scent but its my number 1 compliment getter. Theres a difference between oh you smell good AND wow you really smell good what is that? I have owned the z01 batch and currently got the n01 batch, both are solid and long lasting. I get 8-10 hours with this which is nice, sillage is excellent, this scent does wonders for me in that category, longevity, scent, everything else is really good. I give it an overall 9/0, I enjoy it alot and thats all that matters. It does cost someserious cash so look into some legit discount retailers (scentedmonkey is good) or find someone who is hosting a split on here or basenotes. I dont want to over hype this, its not for everyone of course, so try before you buy, if you like rich, earthy and fruity fragrances (very mascline for a fruit based fragrance i must say)then Aventus maybe on your list

I won't repeat what others have said about the pineapple top and the smoky drydown, you've heard it all before. What I look for most in a frag is how it makes me feel. I was trying out a few creeds as I has heard how fresh they smell. I tried GIT first and to be honest, it didn't overwhelm me. The mint was too harsh. Royal Oud was too weak, and Original Santal smelled like Joop!. Then I tried Aventus and it was unlike anything I had ever experienced. It smelled bright and fresh without being too sharp, with a smooth, gradual drydown which radiated importance and sophistication, and made me feel rich and sexy. I had to have it, so I purchased a 75ml bottle (2.5fl oz.). I wore it to a party a week later and received 3 compliments within the first half hour. This stuff demands attention and projects awesomely. Longevity on my skin was around 5 hrs. A truly superb fragrance and a permanent addition to my shelf.

Just got mine delivered a few days ago. I have to say I'm pretty bummed...now when I wear my other fragrances I'll feel like I am cutting myself short haha. That's what aventus has done to me now. This is really an awesome fragrance guys. I definitely get a sense of smoky pineapple. As someone mentioned earlier, this is cologne on whole other level. If the price is right (got mine on ebay from a good buyer), its at least worth a shot if you can stomach shelling out a little more cash.

Ok, when I first sniffed Aventus I was pretty much like "It smells ok". I forgot about Aventus completely and never gave it any other chance.

Few days ago, I just tried my sample again and boooy, it was so different and absolutely Gorgeous! A very smoky pineapple. There is nothing sweet about this one at all. All I got is burnt-smoky fruit which is fantastic.

About a month ago, I decided to add Creed Aventus to my collection. I have really enjoyed Millesime Imperial and Original Santal, so I decided to give Aventus a go since it’s received so much praise. Let me tell you, the hype is real. This is hands down, THE most complimented cologne I ever worn. I have tried a few batches in decants (S42B12A01) and (C42B11Z01), and got my hands on a 4oz bottle off of amazon for a good price. Not only was the bottle I received real…but it was the best smelling batch I’ve yet to lay my nose on (S42B12C01). Let me just give you one instance where this cologne impressed the hell out of me. I went to a bar last night to meet a girl I know, and her friend. Her friend (who I don’t even know) immediately told me that I smelled REALLY good! She turned to the guy she was with and said “you don’t smell bad, but you need to smell like him”. I was laughing inside, knowing how much positive feedback I had already received from this cologne. Well both girls repeatedly told me how great I smelled, and were literally sniffing my neck at a few points in the night (making a bunch of guys in the bar jealous). I got a text from the girl I knew the next day, saying she could still smell my cologne. Nuff said! If you’re hesitant to get this, get a small decant and get your nose on it. The first time I wore this, I thought it smelled weird. This is because it smelled like nothing I’ve ever smelled, or used prior. I received multiple compliments in that first wearing, and I was sold. I have had the privilege of owning a couple creeds now, and I can honestly say this one is THE best, and a beast in the longevity/projection department. Guys, if you wear cologne for the ladies like I do, get this scent! You will not regret it!

I think it's sad how many people are more concerned about the hype than how Aventus actually smells. You can't wear hype, so who cares.

I think Aventus smells fantastic. It has a rich pineapple vibe with smokey undertones. It manages to smell youthful while still being a fragrance for a man not a child. It isn't too heavy for summer. In fact, the pineapple practically smells like summer. But it's not too light for fall and spring.

My favorite thing about Aventus is when I wear it again after not wearing it for a while. I'll put it away in the winter and look forward to rediscovering it on a sunny spring day.

Is it worth the price? Only you can decide what's worth your money. I decided Aventus was worth my cash and I enjoy it very much.

I'd rate Aventus a 9.5 out of 10. There's no such thing as perfect, but for me, this one comes close.

For those of you who have been on Basenotes, you understand the insane amount of hype this has been getting. For the past few months, it has been in a lot of top 10 lists, the center of a lot of topics, and in nearly every topic asking for suggestions, someone is going to mention Aventus. I've never seen this much hype in a fragrance before, ever. Aventus has the reputation on Basenotes as the #1 fragrance.

The question: Does Aventus live up to the high standards set for it?

I caved into all of the hype and bought a decant of Aventus (c42b11z01). I tried it on for a few days and for those who haven't tried it, I will explain the best I can what it is like to help you decide whether this is worth trying or buying.

Creed's most popular scents Millesime Imperial, Silver Mountain Water and Green Irish Tweed are known to be fresh and more subtle scents. For that reason, I was expecting this to be a light scent as well. However, Aventus is far from it. It is the polar opposite. This is not unisex. This is masculine, to the fullest extent of the word. Aventus is a powerhouse, projecting much much stronger. If it were sold in a generic bottle, I would not have guessed it was a Creed.

At the beginning, it starts out with a mix of fruits. There is bergamot and apples, which are excellent. Mainly, the most noted part about this fragrance is the pineapple. It stands out because not many fragrances use pineapple, especially as one of the main notes. Not only that, but Creed does it exceptionally well. The opening starts a little synthetic and at the literal first second it is really hard to tell what exactly is going on. However, after the first minute, the scent develops into something wonderful. It is a great fruity scent with a lot of darker undercurrents.

However, quickly, within the first hour, that fruity paradise vanishes, replaced with a billowing cloud of smoke. The apple-pineapple opening starts to take a back-seat while the smoky woody incense dominates the fragrance. By the 2nd hour, the scent is mostly just smoke. That wonderful opening is hardly detectable. While fragrances are often criticized for being linear, I think the greater flaw is being inconsistent. I do not see the purpose of having such a remarkable opening for it only to vanish into thin air.

This scent is smoky, like Kouros. While this scent is remarkably different from Kouros, it still has the same idea in mind: a strong powerhouse smoky fragrance, distinct in its uniqueness.

While this is a heavier scent, it works in the heat of summer. Keep in mind that this scent is something will project very well, but it is easily victim of olfactory fatigue. Don't spray too much.

My nose is very insensitive and incapable of picking up subtleties, so I'm probably not the best person to judge a scent even on my own skin. It's really hard on whether I really like it or don't care a lot about it. It is such a complex fragrance with so many subtlties. Each part of my body I spray it on, it smells completely different, but in the end, it all leads to the same path: the smoky birch base notes.

When it comes to compliments, I hear a lot of people have gotten a ton of compliments. I haven't worn it in public much so I can't judge that.

Two things you should keep in mind:
1. There are variations from batch to batch. There are some batches with more pineapple and some batches with more smoke - and I may have the latter. For that reason, make sure you check the batch you are getting before you buy it.
2. We all have different skin chemistry. My skin diffuses a lot of heat, so many fragrances end up heavily distorted

I still have my decant. I'll give it a lot more usage to see if my mind changes. Once the decant is done, I'll decide whether I want a full bottle or not. I'm not sure if I want to buy this (and I'm thankful that I didn't, though I may change my mind). For those wanting to blind buy this, I assume you do the same. Don't sample it on a card and walk away if you don't like it. Don't buy it blindly. Rather, try a decant or split sample of 5-10ml. If you end up liking it, go for the real thing.

This has been strongly hyped. But now as I smell Aventus and think of why, I know the reason. Because it is bold daring and controversial - not because most people love it! Creed's willingness to take a risk and release a scent so different has resulted in people having extreme opinions of it. I'm sure many people on here will say that they didn't like Aventus or it wasn't for them. Safer more versatile scents like Millesime Imperial will have overall MORE PEOPLE approving, but Aventus will have more people who EXTREMELY APPROVE of it.

If I ever actually smell this on a real live man I will probably drag him into the coat room and throw myself at him. I'm not kidding.

I get apple and pineapple in the opening and the drydown is pure James Bond. Sean Connery Bond. "Anything you want to do to me the answer is yes, Mr. Bond." All men should smell like this. Or at least all heroic ones.

Sadly I have only ever smelled it on my own wrist in a Neiman Marcus. So bummed my DH won't try it.

I have other creeds and I smell them fine on me, however I could not smell Aventus. Wore it to work and received many compliments, "you smell good". I was even told I wear the scent well and what was it, I want it for my husband by a woman who said the same when I wore Terre d'Hermes... I will put it away for a while then come back to it. Hopefully I can enjoy the scent like everyone around me. Three stars out of five because I couldn't smell it. My nose must be broken because the compliments kept coming for five hours then it must have become a close to the skin because they came after a hug. But man this stuff must smell really good because I had a couple co-works ask me to come near so they could share the scent with someone they told about it.

What a time to have olfactory breakdown. And I purchased at a good price (for a creed).

I spray myself one more time yesterday to try again, and again, nothing. But, when I woke for work I got a whiff of the Aventus coming from my body, and Yeah, hell yeah. I like what I smelled so much, I tried again and I got a whiff a couple times at work. But the air was full of Aventus for all to enjoy. I was told by as many as six (6) women, strangers, that smells nice, or you smell good and a couple of them were with a male partner. Also my co-workers again informed me how much they enjoyed the scent... Well I am putting it away for a week. Going back to my signature scent Terre d'hermes.

From what I smelled when I woke and the couple times at work, I recommend Aventus as a buy 4.5 out of 5 stars. I hope I can enjoy it like I enjoy Original Santal, GIT, MI, Le Labo Bergamote 22, Rose 31, Bond no9 Bleecker Street, and my signature Hermes Terre d'Hermes.

Guys get this one, it's fantastic... for those that need to read it, yeah the women love it. But get it for your enjoyment and wish me luck on Aventus olfactory recovery.

4.12.13: I thought I did an update, well here it is. I can smell this and yes it is fantastic... last 8 plus hours. Compliments still coming. If like me you want something different to set you apart from the rest, you will enjoy this one. It seems with all the rave I would smell this on more people. I am not complaining.because when it becomes to popular I will give it up.

As many others more qualified than I have commented, this is a truly extraordinary scent. I put 2-3 sprays on at 8am this morning, and its longevity, projection and sillage is still amazing now at 11pm. Despite a long, tiring day at work, I am still getting these gorgeous, fresh pineapple and blackcurrant wafts. And this is despite having skin-tested two strong (and lovely) fragrances this evening at Selfridges: Tobacco Vanille and Bois Marocain. The Creed just outclasses everything else (even those two top-rate scents). It is powerful without being overbearing; it is fruity and sweet without being sickly; it is classic and classy without being derivative. I can think of no other fragrance quite like this. It is undoubtedly 10/10 for scent, projection, sillage and longevity.

Wearing Aventus makes me feel elegant and aristocratic. It is probably better on a slightly more mature man, though I think a very stylish and self-assured guy in his twenties could pull it off after the violet hour. It does strike me as very versatile though: day, night, summer, winter. It is also very natural smelling. There is nothing synthetic about this gem of a perfume.

For balance, the bottle is poorly designed for a top-end product, with a slightly naff faux-leather sticky label which makes it look and feel like a cheap hip-flask; and of course the price is absurd: £90 for 30ml; £150 for 75ml. Having said that—and I can't believe I'm about to say this—I don't think it's bad value for money because you can use it so sparingly to such great effect. And nobody else will be wearing it (unless you're in Monte Carlo or Capri). My only regret is that Creed's Royal Oud doesn't have the same staying power, projection and purchase options as Aventus because, at least to my nose, that one is even classier!

Aventus is undoubtedly one of my favorite fragrances I own. It comes out with a heavy fruit smell unlike any other fruity top I have smelled. It's not "too fruity" if you will. It's more of a masculine, leathery fruit scent. It dries down to a woody, smoky middle. It stays at this for hours which is wonderful and very unique. Aventus is absolutely addicting. You get a whiff of it and are left wanting another sniff. This is absolutely one of the best fragrances I've ever smelt.

I'm gonna echo the good things others have said about Aventus.

It's magnificent, unique, masculine, extremely elegent and highly versatile fragrance that makes wearing it a very joyful experience, it has perfect sillage and superb longevity, well, at least with the batch I have it lasts 12+ hours on my skin.

Needless to say, I have gotten more compliments wearing Aventus than I have from any other fragrance. Creed has obviously done an incredible job with Aventus, my only pet peeve is the batch variations, I just hope that they start producing batches with consistency.

I love Aventus!

My cousin insisted I give this fragrance another try after my initial lackluster impression of it, and I'm so pleased that I did. If I simply wore fragrances for complements then that alone would have made this a must have, due to the fact that the ladies love this stuff! However, for me to make a full bottle purchase I need to be wowed and at first I wasn't. But, after wearing this for a full day and experiencing the full gammet of this fragrace and it's composition I can honestly say I will have this fragrance in my collection as long as it stays in production! Magnifico!

A stunning opening of true quality, which gives the wearer a feeling of something special...

I applied 6 heavy sprays

0 - 2 Hours. 1 foot projection. There is clear pineapple which has had the acid removed and replaced with a chic, sexy manly twist. This is premium quality and you can see why it costs so much. I was fixed on this frag, which would be great for summer evenings and a frag you would want to show of to others...!

2 hours - 4 hours - 7 inch projection. The beginning of smokiness

4-6 hours - 2 inch projection tops but intermittently you get a waft which is much more spreading. Some smoky-ash comes in and the scent is not as good as the start, but still good

6-9 hours. Close to skin, smokey, leathery with a distant pineapple

One of the greatest openings, unfortunately it fades quite quickly. I find this frag projects more when near moisture, which seems to bring it back to life

I had tried this before and it was nothing like this time but I could not spend so much money though on this as why bring in the smokiness and why not project for longer? A pineapple frag, with a chic, sexy manly twist could have remained linear throughout and project for longer- blunder by Creed IMHO.

What the....

This fragrance is fantastic, original and very very nice, but seems to behave in very odd ways. Opening nice and fruity but not sweet, and smells like metal. I have no idea where that comes from in the notes, although I have heard ambergris can have that quality.

Fruit goes away then smoke grows and becomes prominent, changing the scent entirely, leaving a very classy aroma. Nothing I have tried is remotely similar.

It does seem a little inconsistent however, I originally thought it had gone after about three hours, only to hours later keep getting wafts of it. If you can afford it try it.

Fragrantly Brickell
Fragrantly Brickell

This is the kind of fragrance that you spray on even if you have no where to go and no where to be. You want to spray it on, pour yourself a glass of wine and gaze out the window as you contemplate the complexity of this refined and luxurious scent. Immediately after this fragrance touches your skin you will experience the sultry and tropical essence of a freshly cut royal pineapple. The scent is born on your skin, lives in your nostrils and eventually will live out a sensual existence in your afterthoughts.

Creed's Aventus is not a fragrance to be taken lightly. It's not a fragrances for the unwashed masses. This is an intricate fragrance that you share only with those that have spent time learning to appreciate the complexities and nuances of things less ordinary. Once the royal pineapple simmers on your skin for a while, the body of the fragrance emerges. You are greeted with a wooden scent that transports you to a wooded forrest that hasn't seen the perils of an ax or the toxicity of an engine's exhaust pipe. To fully enjoy this fragrance, I would pair it with a glass of Chteau Lafite Rothschild Pauillac - the black currant in both the wine and the fragrance would turn your evening into a masterful symphony of both taste and smell.

To smell this fragrance once, is to sell yourself short. Ask for a sample, use 3-4 sprays and examine the essence of the fragrance. After your second try you will be hooked.

Don't listen to all the BS about cheap fragrances, or any other fragrance for that matter, even coming close to what this smells like. Delicious and masculine at the same time. It's also a fragrance that really grows on you. After wearing this in 2010 and now in 2012 there are some batch differences, but 2010 is when they really had some issues. 2011 batches are fine. Besides some minor annoyances with these issues and the price, there's nothing not to like. Fantastic fragrance and one of Creeds finest.

Creed Aventus is probably one of the most hyped fragrances currently in the niche market and for good reasons. It opens up with a sparkling pineapple and apple which slowly brings to the birch and finally with the oak moss/ambergris drydown. Whenever I wear this, I feel that, in a way, a certain level of sophistication surrounds me. This fragrance WILL get you notice and that's why wearing more than 4 sprays is highly not advisable. A compliment getter for sure and guys, if you have not tried this yet, please do so.

Sillage - A
Longevity - A+ (I managed to get 12 hours on this)
Worth the $ - C- (As usual, Creeds are always ex. Try to get splits)

One word to describe this fragrance is versatile. You can wear this any season and any occasion. The smokey pineapple is unlike anything I have smelled before. I live in New England and I love wearing this during the fall when you smell that crisp air. The smokiness of this fragrance during the fall is something you must experience. Aventus turns heads and you feel like a million bucks while wearing it. This is a modern classic from the Creed house and to me it's worth the money. Another well done unique scent from Creed! Decent smell, it gives me a vibe similar to Hermes un jardin sur le Nil...although Un Jardin is more green, bright and slightly watery.
Projection is better on Hermes's, Aventus is more dark and, somehow, more elegant/mature.
nothing groundbreaking, pretty unique in his own gender, still...I still have to find a reason why so many people go crazy about Creed fragrances...some of them are excellent on the paper...and very poor on the skin (e.g. Imperial Millesime...), the price tag, the fact that almost EVERY SINGLE TIME the opening of their fragrances are amazing and the drydown - which is usually very quick to come - is just average...not to say mediocre, very often...makes me think - but I'm not the only one - that many people falls into a mass psycho illusion...

I love this stuff. Surprisingly, my wife loves this stuff even more than I do. This didn't strike me as a scent that women would be drawn to, but I have found out that they are - quite a bit.

This has been described as smelling like money (bills) or freshly printed newspaper. I completely agree. I think it is the way the pineapple plays with the birch notes. It doesn't seem like that would be very captivating, but it sure works.

Every time I wear this, I love it more than the last time. This is unique, distinctive, and can be worn by almost any age group, any time - day or night, year round.

I know Creed fragrances can be hit or miss based on the batch, but the 2012 batch I just received from the Creed Boutique smells perfect and has great longevity! Expensive, but worth it.

OK,The longevity of this must be subjective! I wrote this due to my experience with this liquid gold! I am on my second bottle of this. I tired of Armani GIO and decided to explore all that is out there seeking a new signature fragrance. I sampled well over 150 frags including all of the Bond #9's and CREEDS. That is how I found Aventus. I get continuous compliments on this from women, and men ask what it is often. I have never worn anything that draws compliments from both men and women! I have begun lying about what it is!! I say anything but Aventus now. Recently, I put two shots on at 6:30 AM and after work headed for a haircut. When the lady put the cape over me she said "Wheww you smell good!" and a few minutes later said it again! That is eleven hours after application. I wrote this because of the reviews claiming poor longevity. BUT< don't buy it because I rather enjoy blowing peoples mind with it!!

I absolutely love this fragrance. It is amazing, intoxicating, and motivating.......but, I put it on, it goes through all of the stages just like everyone has been talking about, and in 3 hours it is gone.....completely gone, not even close to the skin, it is completely gone.. The batch is C42B11X02, the famous sent home from work batch. To me it is important that a cologne last 8 hours, especially at this price. I really do love this scent but I am not going to carry a bottle around to spray it on every 3 or 4 hours. I guess it is back to GIT.

So, finally i bought a bottle of Aventus...
I've post a review below based on what i saw when a friend was wearing this....
This is a very nice perfume, fruity with wood. immediately when you spray, all the fruits are coming out with the black currant giving to the perfume a sweet smoky scent. After that, the bitch wood and some patchouli joins the dance. The pinapple and apple are major players in this game which their scent, is enhanced by the bitch and patchouli...i didnt detect any rose or vanilla in this, in the way we saw them in other perfumes.
Generally, a very good creation by creed, unigue and solid for at least 6 to 7 hours.
Vision by Jaguar is said to be the clone of Aventus. I bought also Vision and I have to say that they share some similarities but not in the way most of the people are saying. the black currant and bitch take Aventus in a different direction. It is refined, less sweet and the patchouli does not hit you in the Face like vision. For those that they do not want to spend a lot of money, Vision is a good alternative but you are not getting the same juice guys, you are not. I love the way and the manly feel that Aventus is giving and on the same time, i hate patchouli that Vision is serving. The price of Aventus is ten times the price of Vision but, if you want to smell like this, you have to pay. Vision is a good perfume but not compared to Aventus, is a cousin maybe. And this is not because it is a Creed but because is better.
Give Aventus a try if you have this money, worths it...
UPDATE:
This perfume got me the most compliments from all other creed, including GIT, Original Vetiver, Tabarome millesime, Millesime imperial and bois du portugal.
The longevity as i realized, it fantastic. Put that on the skin at 20:00 yesterday and now is 07:00 next morning and i still smell the perfume...and i was smelling it all night while I was in the bed. That was the second time I wore it and got 3 compliments, 2 from women and 1 from men. It is indeed fantastic although the price very high!

Smelled it after seeing all the hype about it. It's nice, I wasn't surprised at all since the opening smelled like other fragrances I've tried, but it's not bad at all. The fruit burst smelled really strong at first and I kind of didn't like it. But as it got to the dry down, I ABSOLUTELY ADORED THE MOSS NOTE. That's where it started to smell heavenly at!

An amazing job well done on this beautiful composition, it deserves an 8.5/10. The only drawback to this is the price, I can't see the scent costing 175$ CDN just for the 30mL flacon but I could picture the price range to be a little less like 125$ for the 30mL flacon. It smells expensive and nice I'll give you that but to me the price is a little too much. Although it costs that much and I simply just love the dry down, I'm definitely going to purchase myself a 30 mL flacon just for the summer time. 75 mL, 120 mL? We'll see later on if I'll commit to this. I don't want to blow away 300+ on some overpriced fragrance. I believe there's better out there and also cheaper but this one is a MUST TRY.

Excellent perfume, very distinctive, it won my heart when I visited the Creed boutique in Paris last November. I am a Creed fan, bought Himalaya for the spring and Aventus for the more exquisite moments. Very versatile for winter and spring, mostly an evening scent.

This one starts off for me with a birchy, smoky smell and quickly displays a very nice pineapple note that is absolutely delicious! (Why aren't there more scents that use pineapple?) This fades to the middle and base notes after half an hour or so to vanilla/amber and musk that stays close to the skin for a few short hours. Silage is average to poor and longevity is weak for me. (I have the "good" batch # C42B11S01.)

This scent is a favorite! I truly love this scent but this is apparently an EDP that performs like an after-shave...

There are so many different batchs and Creed can't seem to make this one with any consistency.

Smell: 10/10
Sillage: 4/10
Longevity: 3/10
Value for your money: 1/10

Bottom line: If you want a great scent that does not last at a very high price and are willing to fork over a lot of cash and risk getting a batch that may or may not have that great pineapple note this is known for, buy a 4 oz. bottle for $285 or a 1 oz. bottle for just $140! Otherwise, try Joop! Nightflight, which you can get a 4.2 oz. bottle of for about $35.

Delicious, but not worth the price.

Update: Wearing this again today from my 50ml decant, hoping to find the longevity and sillage some people experience.

It's a good fragrance but hyped up like crazy and to be honest with you guys, it doesn't worth the price! it's my personal opinion.
Start with green and spicy vibe and some fruity notes!
People say the pineapple note is the main top note of this fragrance but I'm not agree with them!!!
I've tested two different bottles with different batch numbers. the birch note is much more intense against the fruity notes like pineapple and apple to my nose. as I said, green and spicy with some fruity notes.
After about half an hour, the fruity notes start to decay and it's time for black current and oak moss to take the lead. green and leafy smell with hint of sweetness and fruity notes.
Good projection like most of creeds but poor longevity on my skin!
--------------------
Edit:
Now in high heat, the sweet pineapple note is much more noticeable but still there is nothing crazy about it!

This fragance is so intense. The pineapple and the apple appears inmediately you spry it, and suddenly, you can smell the mistic 'touch creed' of musk and ambergris. But in my oppinion, this fragance is too much expensive if you compare it with the quality of it.

Just got a decant of this. I don't see the big hype over this at all. It's not bad, but not great as well. I was waiting to compare this to Jaguar Vision. Vision is sweeter and note as smoky. Someone metioned that the drydown smells like Curve a litte, and I will have to agree. For a better pineapple fragrance, try Jaguar Vision, Zara Sprint, Canali Black Diamonds. If you are really brave, Lapidus Pour Homme.

UPDATE!!!
Listen, I think this is way overpriced! However, women love this for some strange reason. So, if you only goal is to attract the opposite sex, this will work! I hate to say it, but it does. DAMN!!!!!!! I want to hate this so bad.

it will get you compliments, absolutely love this fragrance..overwhelmingly a lady killer.. i wore this after getting a decent sized sample..wow...as soon as people walked in it was positive.especially with the women, young and older didn't matter.. IMPRESSIVE..on the compliments wow...longevity maybe a issue but while it is in swing impressive juice.. i will smell for the longevity...i hope it is better than i have read from some, that would be a pity considering the price. very nice indeed though. thumbs up so far. the apple/pineapple and then the smoky quality that lingers is so appealing..
it is one of those fragrances , that i cannot tell if i am wanting so much for my liking the way it smells or so much due to the compliments you get?, you always like people to like what you are wearing and more often than not. i own a lot of frangrances and this is the one when you want to be noticed by the opposite sex.. it is a winner..so maybe a selfish one at that i realize it is a expensive beast..i feel that in the wallet but seriously cannot deny the impact this one has.. so many wonderful fragrances around, but really hard to fault this one unless it is not something you enjoy..in the begining it reminds me of fruit loops with some campfire smoke maybe.. but the combination is very appealing to me..

My first impression of Aventus wasn't real positive. I tried a couple of the newer fragrances and a few I had yet to test but always wanted to before I ended up in the "high class" section. Needless to say, my nose was probably a bit over-worked at that point. So the next visit to my local "smell good" shop, I avoided the redundancy of the newer brands and gave Creeds newest creation a fair shake.
I added a spray or two on my wrist and continued on my shopping adventure. Along the way I couldn't help but notice how quickly Aventus settled down from a strong, musky and fruity opening, to a smooth leather undertone while maintaining its freshness (fruit fragrance.)
I wouldn't refer to it as smoky, more woody and oak mossy (if you can say that?). But all in all a very nice, yet complex aroma I loved having around me!
Also, just as a note here... While walking around sniffing my wrist sample, several people approached me asking what it was I was wearing which is something I hardly ever experience. The deal was sealed.

I know, I know, I know I already gave in my review, but BOY is this nnniiiiiiiiccccccccccccceeeeeeeee, the pineapple and birch are all round existent, dont matter when... and this goes hours and hours, the sillage is amazing, I dont know what to say what I hadnt said before to describe how wonderful this fragrance is. If it wasnt for its steep price, I would bathe in it every, and I mean every second. These are the kind of fragrances where U dont give a fuck about overspraying, everyone should be honoured to be in this cloud to say the least. This is soooo gut it almost hurts, I gotta say "long live the Creed dynasty". Unfortunatley it may take a while before I get it. Aww boy aww boy.
I wonder what exactly makes it smoky.

Aventus lives up to the law of inverse substance. The greater the hyperbole and pretentious marketing, the less actual substance exists.

Initially I was unsure whether it was a stream of intermittently nuanced accords, or a very safe concoction designed to appeal to the many and genuinely impress the few. Having sampled this at some length, I remain unimpressed, more so when I consider the premium being charged for such creative minimalism.

Aventus is simply rafts of fragrant clichés lashed together to create a pontoon of banality.

had to really smile off a sales assistant at John Lewis who desperately wanted me to buy this but these days am really learning to say no to them...some of them though.
Now to the fragrance:

it smells great but fades off after 4 hours on my skin unless I overapply which doesnt happen in my world.

you have got to be a lover for fruity scents to be completely at ease using this otherwise jog on.

for the price,I will have to let this remain on my "to-buy-later" list.

I may be in the minority in thinking this isn't such a big departure for Creed, at least not as much as the press makes it out to be. It IS different, no doubt, from the majority of what's out there, but the quality on display here accounts for most of that. If Aventus were made of designer-grade materials it would smell like your average '90s masculine cologne. Sure, pineapple is a nice touch, but when ground into a chemical haze, it adopts that nondescript "fresh 'n sweet" profile we've all encountered a gazillion times before.

Fortunately, Aventus is made of top notch stuff, and smells like every penny. The pineapple, apple, and birch are reminiscent of Spice and Wood, Creed's recent Royal Exclusive. These top notes provide the light that guides me through the silver haze of the scent's mysterious heart. It's at this stage that the bitter black currant seems most evident. If I didn't know better, I'd say this should be called Silver Mountain Water, because it has a very cold, silvery disposition, although there is absolutely nothing aquatic going on. Also similar is a strange inkiness that pervades the early drydown, which another reviewer accurately likened to freshly-printed newspapers. I would add that it seems redolent of new dollar bills. Here the oakmoss dominates, providing a solid base to something that verges on being transient. The effect is unremittingly masculine, very finely honed, with the wonderful ghost of vanilla softening the edges in the end.

Apparently the ladies just lose it over Aventus. I must admit, I don't smell anything that would suggest this scent possesses such a power. It's beautiful and very well made, but sexy? I guess it's a leap of faith, but I suppose the case could be made that it's better to make that leap with Aventus than some $70 frag from Macy's that was purchased 15 years ago. Personally I feel the same way about it as I did about Spice and Wood: it's lovely, but I'd rather wear Green Irish Tweed.

The Green Fairy after absinthe and the white unicorn after Aventus!
I haven't smelt purer perfume. It's purest smell one could take from pineapple.
It's fresh and light, neat and decent, white and mellow. In the middle phase, it gets deeper and purer like something that is not obvious in the remote distance because of dense cool fog. In this step the scent explodes out again like the opening and spreads immensely like a grenade; presents its unique, aerial, heavenly, unisex, innocent, luxurious and royal theme.
It really differs from other Creed perfumes; others are routine and typical but this one is one in a million, a really really jaw drawer one! A real niche perfume.

If I reviewed this based on my first test, I would have roundly panned Aventus: To me, it didn't seem like the Creed of yore I'd known. I'd have never purchased it and felt it was far too common, or that I'd swear I'd smelled it elsewhere before. I've have used all the terms everyone else who reviewed this negatively have labeled it. That was 2010. So let me tell you what completely transformed my outlook.

First, I was looking for something slightly lighter, perfect for summer wear, a little better in the heat and not completely cloying, yet that didn't smell like every other light, sharp fragrance being pushed on the male population. My Neiman's SA tried this on me and it suddenly clicked: This was a perfect light and dynamic scent that brought with it a bit more mass-appeal. This generation's Green Irish Tweed, so to speak.

I've had a full summer of wearing to experience this, and I honestly like this for what it is. It is not cheap (thankfully), it is different (again, thankfully), and it's quite tastefully done for a fresh scent that isn't overly sharp or light without having the depth of a puddle. This is a unique scent given the pineapple/musk/soft and smoky wood combination that is balanced so be not only a warm-weather scent but even a good year-round office scent. I've gotten compliments on this, people obviously have latched on to it, and for those who say it's too expensive...all Creeds are expensive! There are cheaper alternatives out there, and they are just that. I won't say I like every Creed, but despite this being less in my comfort-zone than my usual, it's a fragrance I feel confident and at ease wearing.

And yes, it's a Creed that has gotten a lot of good press for good reason, perhaps even being a Creed for the masses (provided the masses are up for paying Creed prices). That said, it's not for everyone, but it is surprisingly good once you recognize what it is. Then, it's extraordinary!

I just don't like the smoky pineapple top- somehow, and this sort of ruins it for me as a deal, it's very expensive. It's not a sweet syrupy pineapple, not like juice, more like a 'raw green' type as another review mentioned perfectly below. It's transparent but green.

The rest I really enjoy. I detect sweetness, fruitiness, some blackcurrant and the jasmine all done to niche standard. The oakmoss-ambergris drydown is of its own class, sublime! But it is faint, almost like it's being diluted (I have a genuine Perfume Court sample!) and the smokiness can get annoying.

Top ruins it for me, so I can never buy a bottle sadly not to mention the bank-melting price, but I'll give this a 3/5. If you pay well over £100 for 120ml perfume, you've gotta love the whole thing!

Had there been much less smoke and the pineapple sweetened, this would be an easy 5/5, but Alas t'is not to be. The green pineapple is so off-putting I really wanted to score a 2/5, but I'll just have to give it a 3, Creed's quality is simply incredible.

So, 3/5 for me it is.

Smoky pineapple with some leather and musk. The birch has a bit of a pine tree smell to it and I also detect some apple and black currant. All of this creates a very interesting scent that is highly addictive and completely unique. For the most part linear, the projection is powerful and the longevity is solid.

Aventus is strange because a couple hours after wearing it you may not be able to detect it. This is due to olfactory fatigue (when you become accustomed to a smell, or having your senses overloaded with a smell, and then not smelling it)and not the actual fragrance itself. This one lasts and persists. Others will be able to smell it on you. I've received many compliments on it hours after I stopped being able to smell it. So go easy on the trigger--3 sprays is plenty.

I've only been wearing this for several days and it's quickly becoming one of my favorites. Aventus is undoubtedly masculine and appealing to women. It is also fresh and modern. Definitely worth trying, and after a few wears you may want to pick up a bottle yourself.

UPDATE: I acquired an early (or the first) formulation of Zara's Gold for Men, which has that smoky pineapple that is so similar to Aventus, and it's close enough for me that I am not going to spend the "big bucks" on it (because I only wear it once every couple of months, at most). Now to those who say that Aventus is "all natural," come on !

Original review: It would be interesting to compare batches, but I just have a decant of unknown number. This one has strong pineapple, which isn't sweet but has a bit of a green and fresh quality. I get that smokiness others mention, and I'd call it a "clean" smoke. I like the smell and the idea, but it's a bit lacking in balance for me. Perhaps I can get used to it, and since it's so strong I only have to use a tiny amount per wearing. Definitely a sample first fragrance.

A nice fruity scent with dominant pineapple. excellent sillage and longevity. I find it very very similar with Ferre for men....if you check the ingredients, you can see that they share 8 of them...and something else. Cool water was done by Pierre Bourdon who is said that helped also in the creation on Green Irish Tweed before. Aventus is made by Creed, Ferre for Men by Pierre Bourdon which most probably, helped the creed house in the creation of Aventus....Please check those two perfumes and let me know if your agree with me...Aventus of course is of higher quality/ingredients but I wouldn't say that Ferre for men is bad or smells synthetic. Green Irish Tweed does not smell like Cool Water at the extend most of individuals are saying. Ferre for men does smell like Aventus!

I'm female, and I wear this one alot...in fact I'm on my 2nd bottle in a little under a year. It doesn't smell masculine on me..probably because of the pineapple top note. Very unisex to me and not at all fruity like it says. I layer this with prada infusion fleur d' oranger. That combo I've worn probably more than anything else & received the most compliments on. It's also nice layered with EL Azuree, believe it or not. You never know what a combo will turn into on you once you start experimenting with layering, but it's fun trying and finding good mixes for your chemistry.

People always make a big deal out of Aventus. So I got myself a sample.

At first I smell a concoction of fruits. Fresh apples, pineapples and blackcurrants even.

But then I smell a beautiful fusion of apple and a light woody scent, mixed with a creamy pineapple. I can sense bergamot too.

The fruits are really framed well together by a sweet woody (moss/birch) tone.

This is not a heavy scent at all, very pleasant actually. I can see this being worn on warmer days (nights) owing to the fruity characteristics, as well as on colder days (nights) afforded by the woody, smoky even accords.

I can see why this is very popular. It is a sophisticated fragrance and safe enough so that you don't feel "ripped off" given the $$$ required for this juice.

I hope this stays long enough on my skin.

Would I buy this?

I think I would but I will look out for a deal nevertheless. I have plenty scents that allow me to play with the feelings evoked by Aventus. However I definitely see us being together one day.

I deleted my original review of this from about 10 months ago. Why you may ask? My nose has evolved and so has my understanding of this fragrance (along with other Creeds). What you will have here is a non-bias review (skip the hype wagons, skip the I hate the price, skip the disdain for Creed or the Creed cheerleaders).

My first experience with this fragrance was a year and a half ago. This was before I really knew what Creed was. I knew about GIT and MI but really didn't know much about fragrance houses nor about the rich history of Creed. A middle aged gentlemen so me looking at all these expensive frags and he told me it was his favorite bar none and then a woman came and gave me a sample.

I smelled it, thought it was different (I had never smelled anything like it) but paying what they were asking for was out of the question. I ended up getting another sample from the women's department but later forgot about them. I then got into fragrance reviews and this one was gaining steam. I jumped on the bandwagon wore my samples then eventually got in on a split, this was early in 2011.

Fast-forward a year and I have smelled almost everything from this house, have read and watched countless reviews on Aventus among other Creeds and am now finally ready to review.

Creed is HORRIBLE with its batch disparity. This is true. I have had three separate Millisime Imperiales, two seperate Green Irish Tweeds, and two separate Aventus'. They aren't as far apart as others claim but they are not as assembly line as most fragrances either. This could be good or bad, but for we humans who love a Big Mac this could be a real nerve wrecker for sure.

Aventus is all Pineapple/Apple/Smoke and Mossy. Think of someone skewing some fruit in the backyard on a smoker, however it is quite fresh which is contradictory.

The initial spray is a fruity pineapple and apple combo which is immediately joined by this woodsy/smoky vibe. The pineapple does last the duration of the scent (which 10 hours or more for me) but it is in the background. The smoke has to be the amber playing games (amber can be sweet or smoky). It almost plays like Amber Absolute yet it never become sticky or sweet it remains fresh yet dense at the same time.

This can be worn year around as the smokiness gives it an autumn feel, the fruitiness gives it a summer feel, yet the combination makes it great for spring. This could be the perfect signature scent and second to Original Vetiver (yet this fragrance destroys that one scent wise) it is the most universal to me. The projection for the first 6-8 hours is wonderful, the sillage is even better. I have NEVER worn this without being asked what I am wearing.

This is great in a suit, this a great first date scent, it is mature but not old mannish, it is youthful without being playful, fresh without being run of the mill, and complex without being confusing. This is the perfect fragrance.

If I were asked one fragrance to live with forever, this would be it easily. I own many great fragrances but for some reason Aventus is my one. I may invest in a full flacon and make this my signature, the only problem is I love frags too much :o)

OH MY...
Let's be nice now, fellas...!! People ARE actually entitled to their opinions (believe it or not) and even more so - to VOICE them. The fact that there are different views on a subject (in this case, Aventus), especially such passionate and polarizing views, is what lends & creates (IMHO) such great character and interest to this site.

This is a fragrance! That's all it is!! There is no use in creating a bit of disharmony or hostility on a forum that is meant for education and personal leisure. So please, let's call off the dogs, let others think and say what they might/may and leave the aggression at the login screen. Someone's opinion on a fragrance should NEVER be taken personal. OI VEI!

Thanks again,

I was one of the first to bash Creed on their batch differences, and the price of this fragrance. I am happy to say that after I wore it for a couple of weeks, I really developed a love for it. It has one of the truest fir notes of any fragrance I have ever smelled, and just a wonderful base (I am lucky enough that it lasts 12 hours+ on me). I smelled Mont Blanc Legend, and it had shades of Aventus in it, but it didn't have the wonderful fir and birch, and it had this cloying lavender that was ultimately just too sweet for me. If you can be happy with Legend, then I am happy for you, as the price is far lower than Aventus, but I have to acquiesce and give Aventus its fair due. Aventus is truly unique, and the longevity and projection are above average, at least on me. I love the firry mossy base under the fantastic fruity rose that just doesn't quit. Long live Aventus.
I guess it's not really fir, but birch. The 2 smell similar to me. Deep fresh cut wood, with a smell that reminds me of all the wreaths and trees at Christmas time in the US.

I was planned to order this scent via the internet. But here in holland you dont have an perfumery to go for it and smell it only in amsterdam. So this isnt an ordinary perfume in an ordinary perfumeshop. Greets rudolf

I tried this one and I guess it's a well crafted fragrance but I'm not a big fan of black currant and vanille. I have been wearing Mont Blanc Legend for a while and I think the sweetness in the drydown comes from the dried fruit and tonka bean instead of the vanille and I think that's much nicer. Before you are going to spend over 200 dollars on this Creed you might want to try MB Legend as well ;-)

Materpiece.

The smell is unique with very good quality, very natural. It is smokey and fruty at the same time, projection its not great but it lasts a long way.

One of those perfumes that really make me a perfume snob, so different and classy

At the begining it was just ok, but the 3rd. time I tried it, it was out of this world

This is not quite yet a review but will be in the nearing future.
With that said... this is for the below members, who are claiming Aventus after one year is being discontinued. As well as all the people who also posted below believing what was said. Unfortunately not everyone knows your kidding or the source of your information. And as a fellow fragrance reviewer and lover, I often turn to sites like this and Basenotes for accurate fragrance news and information from our fragrance community. Remember not only crazy fragrance fanatics like us check fragrantica reviews out, we have to watch what we publicize!
Im seriously the furthest person from being a fragrance snob. I just hate to see misleading info and news get spread between such a wonderful community and group of people.

* I will add this until a full review is up. If anyone enjoys the smoky, woody batches of Aventus released in the past, then check out Byredo's Oud Immortel. The resemblance is shockingly similar!

idk what bottle you tried, but watered down is a bunch of BS when it comes to this fragrance. I got off the elevator 3 hours after spraying on me and was followed by a lady who said she could smell me down the hall. When I got to the gym later on that night 8 hours later and working out, I got complimented on my fragrance.

To say that this fragrance is watered down is BS. I have tried so many fragrances and have so many dusting away on my shelf. Out of all the fragrances I've tried, this one FOR ME is by far one of the strongest, provocative, in your face fragrances. I feel scared sometimes to walk insdoors because I feel im projecting too much.

By from Creed Boutique online. Ignore the batch BS because youll start doing that with everything you purchase swearing the last stack of bananas you bought had a slightly sweeter taste, or the cereal had a bit more barley in the last box.

Pfffff--please. Batches aside, try this bad boy. MI---gorgeous scent but that one is the WEAKEST scent ive come into contact with.

Creed's target is what I like to call us is cologne junkies.. This cologne is good, but really not $250.00
its insane, stays close to the skin, I mean really if
your going to spend tha much, dont yo want to make a statement, like , Polo, Issey, and so on,these are quality colognes, that make a statement! they smell good and they last, Aventus is way over rated, and watered down, dont be fooled that creed uses better ingrediants, thats BS...

When I think of creed, the first thing that comes to my mind are the high prices, I have only tried 5 of them BUT if there was ever any worth the Price Tag, it would be this one. There is still something puzzling me that I cant put my hands on, the initial spray has something smoky and crisp, nothin creamy about this, I dont know which one of those listed notes it is but its really nice, the pineapple is also present,it´s really elegant and a sillage monster too... not to mention the longevity, well... its an edp so one would atleast expect that at the least, most especially comin from creed. frankly after tryin I set up a piggy bank for it coz its really pleasant, the funny thing is that after askin the clerk why there´s only a tester and no closed bottles behind it, she said, this is our gentlemens favourite and smiled, creed still has to send a bunch to match the demand, she added... that about sums it up... the pineapple is really done very well in this, am beginnin to become a fan of fruity fragrances hehe, I cant imagine this bein discontinued. It has become my number 3 in my top 6 fragrances of all time to date even without havin ever possessed it, the 5ml sample sure did its job.

There is one thing people need to take into consideration when reading reviews or writing them. There is a big difference between different batches of certain creed fragrances. What you are writing a review about might not be the same juice someone else will get or already owns. I suggest people write the batch number of the fragrance they are reviewing. Some aventus batches smell more like ash, some are more fruity and smell like pineapple. There have been batched I didn't care for, and some that smelled very nice. Same goes with Creed's MI. I think this is a very important aspect of certain creed fragrances that has been totally overlooked on here.

The sweet pineaple fruity note can be detected just in opening.
It turn to a dry fruity ,woody, without sweetness and actually that what makes it versatile.
Can be wearable at work ,class, evening, all season.
Longevity about 10+ hours and projection is moderate.
And it's truly masculine!

Creed Aventus begins with an explosion of fruity notes, especially pineapple, remembering very much the opening of Lacoste Essential Sport, but of course, without the synthetic side.

Over time the scent acquires a certain sweet tone, vanilla maybe .. but nothing very obvious, at least not on me.

Anyway, an excellent fragrance with a pretty variable longevity.

--

Update:

I simply love this fragrance, to me this is the most versatile and pleasant pineapple you will find in the market today. Pictures a not so sweet pineapple combined with a somehow smoky vibe and you will figure out the wonderful fragrance Creed was able to create. pretty expensive? Yes it is, but if you find a good deal on it like I did, do not think twice! This is a compliment getter and an awesome fragrance.

imagine a big hunky pineapple wearing leather jacket and smocking some cigarette and trying to attract other fruits (apple, current , bergamot).

the only down side is the price!!.

The good:

Aventus is somewhat unique, has decent longevity, it's accessible, and the pineapple isn't too strong. It also exhibits the signature metallic ambergris base found in basically every Creed masculine since Green Irish Tweed.

The bad:

Aventus is utterly boring and doesn't really smell "good" by my standards. It doesn't "wow" me or make me come back for more. It smells watered down (keep in mind I tested both a store tester and a new sample on my skin), and for the most part all I get is some fresh/fruity notes, A LOT of patchouli, and the Creed base. It can be kind of headache inducing to me at times.

Bottom line:

Is Aventus worth it? No, at least not to me. However, I'd love to see that patchouli note paired with a good citrus or musk note in a Creed masculine in the near future.

I get this as a blind buy, and no regret at all, this is so special fragrance, fruity and fresh, pineapple is some of the secrets in here, this will be a good addition this summer, many people around you will be happy to smell you and ask you what are you wearing, expensive kind but it worth every ml. You pay for it.
I spry 4X at 7am and it's 3pm and still smelling.
Unless you got nose problems, this will be one of the best add to your Wardrobe.

All right then, today is THE DAY! The day I try AVENTUS on my skin for the first time. Usually I try to avoid reading any comments or reviews on a fragrance I have yet to try or will be reviewing if I have not read anything already (researching), to try and keep an open mind. After Marlen (perfumecritic) reviewed it formally on here, I decided I would most likely enjoy this particular offering from CREED. Only today did I realise the "community" was so polarised over this one, claiming everything from "been there done that" to grumblings of variations in batches, to love at first sniff...well, Lana Lool sent me a large full carded sample from the CREED counter, so here goes

*sprays from sample with own sprayer* (all the CREED samples I have are the "dab on" type, but having been told about the "blowing" thing and how it evolves or not by how it goes on the skin...so I erred on the side of caution here:

Wow...not bad. I am definitely getting fruit here, albeit a light blend of sheer fruits. Black currants (almost "plummy") along with crisp apple and bergamot swirl around with playful and (getting much sweeter now) creamy pineapple. I think, in this case anyway, I buy the "hype"; as I dabbed some juice from the lid/stopper under my wrist and then sprayed (in a long fine mist) the top of the same arm...underneath the wrist: some earthy and slightly floral air with a caloney feel BUT on top of the arm: an amazingly different array of notes and scents...much more airy and fresh and less sweet and thick. By Jove, it's true! The birch note here is more like white birch bark and not "tarry" or overly smoky at all. Rose and jasmine play quietly on a soft bed of fresh patchouli leaves. An interesting juxtapostion between male and female (woody and floral) notes. There is something here, as it goes on, that is giving me some kind of Deja Vu...but I will be damned if I can say "of what"?! This is, perhaps, the lightest "dark" fragrance I have ever sniffed. (Noir Lite? LOL) The finish (though this does have the usual CREED lifespan, ie: DAYS on paper, all day on skin) is soft and clean, but warm and sexy at the same time. Aventus intrigues me...but does NOT really "WOW!" me. (What IS that aroma that it reminds so much of??). Worth a decant or split? Sure...A full bottle at CREED prices? I am leaning towards a "no" here, though, if this is your thing, it would be soooo worth it to invest. Since it IS a quality scent for sure, just nothing all that earth-shattering. I shall (upon further wearings and finishing this generous sample) report back if my feelings have changed. Right now, as it stands, lovin it...but not in love with it!!

Sillage: above average
Longevity: excellent (as usual)
Overall: 4/5

Now then...I agree that this is (probably) the most mass market smelling or "popular" (I REFUSE to call it generic, as it is anything but) CREED scent I have smelled, but it is still very good. Quality? Obvious (duh?!) Class? For sure, Worth it?...*hesitates* get back to me on that, will ya?

I never thought I would shell out for a whole bottle of Creed, but damn... this is good! Maybe it just works on my skin, but this is one of the best things I've smelled in awhile. Hate me, but for me Aventus is a fruity (and stronger!) version of Gucci by Gucci Pour Homme / Ralph Lauren Silver Romance, especially in drydown. I feel a masculine tobacco-like drydown with a mildness of fruits. Smells good, this is my type of scents. But! I've heard this before...

I know I'm gonna swim against the stream but I think that Aventus it's just another overpriced and overhyped fragrance by the guys at Creed. I generally love Pineapple in fragrances but Aventus fruity / bergamot opening is pretty conventional and not so well executed (If you like Pineapple try Biehl AL3). In the middle phase things get a little better with a slightly harsh and dusty flowery accord that lasts for a couple of hours. Then be prepared (again) for a conventional musky drydown.

Aventus is introduced as a "Provocative, masculine and optimistic fragrance" but I find it quite generic and a bit conventional. Overall Aventus is fine but for $250 you can have way much better fragrances, believe me!

Rating: 6/10 for the smell
10/10 for its popularity

Amazing fragrance! I was expecting a very fruity scent, which I am not into, but when I first tried it I could only detect the fruit for the first ten minutes and then I mainly got a light musk scent. I have to say I was disappointed, bit the more I wear Aventus the more I can detect the fruit scent. I have worn this about 10 days now, and Aventus continues to suprise me. It is very complex and evolving. I do not like fruity scents and do not like most musk scents, but this is blended so well and changes so distinctly that it works for me.
The only problem is the fragrance is so lite that I am not sure anyone around me can even smell it. I am married and really only wear cologne for my pleasure, but when I was single I would never spend so much money on something no one would notice. Try at least a 5ml sample before you buy.

I've been carrying around the sprayed card from Norstroms for about 24 hrs. now and I can't leave it alone. My intention was to buy this for my husband, but if that were to be, I think I would wear it more than he. The negative reviews here need to be explained better as this, in my opinion, is not a cheap drugstore smell. It is one of the nicest creations from Creed in quite sometime. I love Prada Infusion d'iris, this is just a little more masculine on me, and I LOVE it!

I can say that I LIKE this fragrance. I would be IN LOVE with it if the price werent so sky high! So what is this Aventus all about?! Well, it is kinda hard to explain the scent, but it does fit "chypre fruity" olfactory. This is the first for me to smell something from this category. It's a bit sharp insencey with some sweet tarty berry-like fruit and moist/wet wood. Mossy oak and patchouli are clean and enjoyable. The blackcurrant note reminds me a bit of Bond No.9 Bleecker Street at the opening, but in a more masculine and more natural feel. It is made for a modern man. A modern and RICH man, I say. It's unlikely that I would be able to afford one but I haven't given up yet. :)

Okie Dokie! So I made the trip to the mall with smelling this cologne in mind. I didn’t read about it before smelling it on purpose as I wanted my thoughts to be authentic. I will read other reviews AFTER I write this one. Here goes.
This cologne is like real COLOGNE It’s not just fragrance. This stuff is definitive, structured and it MAKES YOU PICK A SIDE!!! I don’t see how anyone could smell this and feel indifferent about it. Almost like Patchouli; you either LOVE it or HATE it. With that being said overall I like this one though at first, honestly I thought it was a joke. When I first sprayed it, I thought “ that’s it?” this is the big too do? To be fair however, I took it home and let it hang around. That cologne swab smelled strongly of Aventus for DAYS!!!! And totally changed the way I feel about it. Being almost 30, I just don’t think it’s my time yet to wear this. Aventus smells like its creators didn’t have anyone under the age of 45 in mind in its creation although that could be wrong. I liked this cologne and I personally think that it smells like the makers of this ran across a fragrance that I can’t put my thought too right now but know that I have smelledand said…” NO NO NO…. this is how you guys meant to do it.” It’s definitely not a new smell but I think that it’s probably the most distinguished creed to date. There is no mistaking this one for any other Creed and whomever tries to copy it will probably have trouble trying to do so without people knowing right away.
So my final thought is a thumbs up but not just yet for a 29 year business man.

God, i think i have truely fallen in love. Initially sprayed this an thought it was very similar in structure to Bleu de Chanel and Boss bottled night but after about half an hour the class shines through. As i was walking about i kept getting wiffs of this in the dry down and i was blown away. I think i am going to have to take the plunge and splurge on a bottle...i may not be able to afford to eat for a month but boy, will i smell good.

Aventus revisited. I tested it on myself and still liked it but against the Francis Kurkdjian Aqua Universalis, which has a fair amount of aldehydes, Aventus smelled very blue, which was surprising given how fruity it smells in comparison to, say, Imperiale.

I am a woman in her mid-20s and I usually go for the floral and the citrusy. However, I have not found a single women's Creed that I liked out of the ten I've tried including the new vanilla one. So I ventured to the men's, and voila. Aventus is the first Creed I have liked on myself.

I see that others like the top notes, yes they smell good. The middle, on me, smells smokey. Sometimes more so than other times. My favorite is what comes last. It smells amazing. When I was first trying the cologne out before I bought it, some would get on my coat and you could smell its remnants for 2 days from about two feet away. Smelled great.

I own over 130 fragrances, and Aventus is currently my favorite modern fragrance from Creed. The top notes are a fantastic combo of tart apples and pineapple, the heartnotes are an intriguing mix of smoke with blackcurrant, and the base is rubbery smoky oakmoss with a touch of vanilla. Sounds Bulgari Black'ish but Aventus is more complex, quite a bit different, and sports much better quality of ingredients.

Aventus sounds heavy but it isn't...its actually a longlasting EDP fragrance (millesime) with low sillage, perfect for daily wear. Also, the fruity blackcurrant-smoky-rubbery accord smells nothing like anything on the market currently and it towers over current trash such as Bleu de Chanel and Guerlain homme. Definitely recommended.

Guys, don't buy this blind. Order the sample vial from the Creed website first because you may find that Aventus smells very much like a cheap 1980's drugstore aftershave. No kidding.
Fruit candy opening is o.k. and the generic musk drydown lasts a long time, but the middle part is kind of harsh.

This is a unique fragrance, to be sure. Here's the skinny:

Top notes are fresh; and burn off quickly.
Middle notes linger quite a while and mellow the fragrance.
Bottom notes of oakmoss, ambergris, and vanilla mix quite well with the middle notes.

Is it typical Creed? No. It's distinctive, unique, and unique and doesn't smell "like" any other Creed. Is it unisex? Not really. It's very male. Is it good? Yes. Is it unique? Very much so. Is it worth having in your collection? Yes. Oh, and whenever I've worn this, I've received more comments than usual about how good I smell!
