Creed Original Santal (for men)

Designer: Creed Olfactive Group: Oriental Woody

The new, original, oriental fragrance by Creed is inviting us for a journey to India. The center of the composition includes Indian sandalwood surrounded with spices. The opulent fragrance gives energy and cures bad mood, helps our thinking and meditation. This fragrance is very philosophical, just like the East itself. The top notes contain cinnamon, coriander, spruce, sandalwood. The heart incorporates lavender, orange tree, rosemary and ginger. The base encompasses Tonka beans and vanilla. Creed Original Santal was launched in 2005.

Oh Lord..please have mercy! Is this smell part of the next 'Hellraiser' installment?

Rather like the first 'Hellraiser' film, on the journey to 'The East' or is it India, someone has claimed the 'puzzle box' and, having solved it, a portal to the cruel world of 'Pinhead' (aka Lagerfeld) and co. has been opened. Thus, following the creaking of timber; the jangling of chains, and the appearance of the pedestal covered with fragments of flesh, the Cenobites appear, but this time they are spraying their victim with this unworldly foul offering from Creed complete with its blood-letting coloured bottle and torturous price-tag. This is a spectacularly unpleasant smell (unless you're a Cenobite)and really quite an achievement in terms of offensive olfactive outcomes!

Plus: Has anyone stopped to read the guff above the ingredients boxes about the fragrance being 'philosophical' and how it 'cures bad moods'? Dear me....Sartre used to be bereft without his lug on a Gauloises and a strong coffee in the morning, so I'm sure Jurgens Habermas sprays a bit of the old 'Original Santal' on, 'first thing', before working on his next critique of Kant, just to put him in a good mood for writing!

For purposes of redemption and closure of 'the box', seek out Creed's 'Santal Imperial' from the 70s. Now that's a 'real' Creed and a pure sandalwood fest!

You have been warned.

Ps sorry for the film reference at Fragrantica; sorry, too, for the academic J.P. Sartre and Habermas references- google them if you're interested in philosophy, and sorry to all those that like this particular Creed.

This is in-my-so-call-humble-opinion total crap. This is not santal! No santal in there, may be on the nametag but not in the juice. Perhaps javanol, bacdanol, ebanol or any crappy cheap and synthetic sweet woody accord in the dolce e gabana for men fasion but (I repeat) no natural santal... not even australian santal!!
Yours truly

This is a terrible fragrance. It smells like Dentyne cinnamon gum mixed with one of today's awful clone fragrances (e.g., Romance for Men), with a little bit of a cheap spicy wood thrown in for wimpy effect. A piece of crap.

This is a good offering from Creed, but not a great one. It is warm, fragrant and earthy, but it does not excitement me enough to warrant the necessary outlay to own this. The Rosemary and Lavender combination ensure that there is a little bite behind the sweet accord. I tried this in the middle of winter, and I can well imagine this repsonding well to warmer weather. I did like the fact that you get to the midldle notes very quickly, which could be a distinct advantage on certain occasions. I will only pay Creed prices for something outstanding, so I doubt I will ever own this.

Lasts all day, a fall scent for sure.

Man, it's really cool I'll tell ya! I just spray it on and sit down for a few minutes to concentrate. I repeat "this smells so good," "wow I love this stuff," "This is the best cologne ever made!"

(I mean I have to, I spent so much money on it; I figure if I can't really do much with it by molecularly changing the scent chemicals, I can at least convince myself that it smells great!

;)
