superbe parfum! trés gourmand et distingué à la fois, sucré et lointain, l'odeur de fruits trés murs (presque pourris) est absolument entêtante et addictive!
J'adore.
It opens with a peach schnapps accord and gets sweet with pineapple also coming into the boozy mix. These fruit accords mix in with the rum and whisky to give a alcoholic punch smell on the skin. After a while I can smell a plum note coming to the forefront. A complex scent.
After the topnotes subside I can smell a hint of ginger with woods and cinnamon while retaining the smell of plum on your skin. As we move into the basenotes I'm picking up a spicy sweet tobacco adding to the boatload of notes.
This smells nice and anyone who loves fruity boozy spicy fragrances should check this one out. Though for me it feels like something you would drink rather than wear as I find it a bit over the top. If it was toned down it would be more to my taste. Nice complex smell though.
Launched in 1925? Dominique Preyssas was a genius for his time to create something so timeless.
Opening up with a classy whiskey mixed with some spice and fruits. As this dries down a little, the whiskey resides a bit to allow you to enjoy a cigar as well. The fruits and spices are always there, adding the main depth and character to this fragrance.
It lasts so well and projects heavenly. If you like your boozy scents, please give this a try. It just deserves a try either way.
Perfect for the colder months and I can't wait to get the bottle closer to those months.
4/5
just as described in the blog that inspired me to buy! starting from drunk cognac (not whiskey) later warms and softens becoming sweet, but I do not mean to sweet sugar and candies, bleeee. Remains beautifully balanced between sweet and spicy. Great!
very modern scent created in 2025 not in 1925 definitely ...
I have a vintage version in the Parfum Toilette concentration, and it has to smell different because in no way smells this like ginger and bourbon.
This bursts with warm spices and tobacco. It is so smooth and gentle and stays that way. The tobacco keeps on and is joined by the essence of malt-whiskey. It doesn't smell alcoholic, but it has this smokiness and malt of the whiskey. The spices never leave completely but they fade to the background.
It is not a sillage monster and stays rather close. And it is in my experience a tasteful classy male fragrance. Me (female) wanted to dare this but try as I might: this smells ridiculous one me. WOULD LOVE this on a man though...
This is a review for the EdP version of Le Dandy (gold cap). The notes are as follows:
Top notes: rhum-wisky, peach, pineapple, plum.
Heart Notes: ginger, nutmeg, cardamon, cinnamon, clove.
Base notes: sandalwood, benzoin, patchouli, tonka bean, Peru balsam, tobacco.
From the first spritz of this perfume I am met with an incredibly smooth, sweet, powdery amalgamation of notes that are hard to discern. The fruit mixed with the rum/whiskey makes sense in retrospect, as it has a slightly boozy, yet utterly juicy, first impression. This is not a bad thing.
The spices which come later do not seem to burden or overbear in any way, allowing for a very transient and seamless transition towards the base. At this point, the sweets have been tempered, but there is still a lingering aroma of these powdery confections.
I'm not sure if at any point you can really tell when the heart notes have vanished and the base notes emerge. This is due in part to the, in my opinion, beautiful overall composition of the fragrance which takes a number of very distinct notes and blends them as one unique smell in its own. Yes, you get the vibe of tobacco and alcohol, which are meant to stick out as they provide the foundation for the class and suave Le Dandy is known for, but what I'm ultimately left with is a light & humble, yet alluring, aura of a real gentleman's perfume.
All in all, I really do love Le Dandy and value it for what it is, but I am often at a loss for times in which this would be fitting. Certainly not a casual, every day, wear, but occasionally it's nice to go out in street clothes smelling like you just spent the morning at a cigar bar shooting the shit. Otherwise, this is more or less confined to formal wear, and in a scenario not necessarily meant to attract anyone, but rather establish your own class and confidence as a man.
Mine clearly has strong oakmoss, which I like, though it's' not listed in the notes in the description. This is at least a notch above designer quality, and yet the price is reasonable (look to online discounter sites). Since I like the notes, the quality, the way it's constructed, and because it lasts and projects well, it's one of my favorites. A word of caution: many who are used to recent fragrances might think this smells "old" and "stale." However, though not especially complex, it's rich and deep, with no "synthetic" qualities.
NOTE: One BNer claims that the gold cap version, which you see pictured, does not have strong (if any) oakmoss, and she considers that inferior. She suggests trying to find the silver cap version, which is the only one I've tried.
Swoon! This one is so gorgeous and absolutely perfect for winter evenings! Le Dandy is a rich, heavy blend of whiskey, fine cigars and a spicy, creamy dessert. Two spritzes of this potent juice is enough to last all day and infuse the air with a heady cloud of delicious aroma. Very high-quality and long-lasting scent that is a must-try for fans of boozy-fragrances. It is not so sweet that the manliest man can't wear it, and it's not so macho that ladies can't enjoy it, too.
One of the best perfumes I've tried lately.
The perfume was a surprise and I didn't know what I was testing. Now, when I know the whole background of perfume, I can tell you right now that it will surprise you. The old perfumes have their own special atmosphere but this one is exception. It has modern features though it is made in 1925..
Opening is alchocolic and powerful. I immediately said that it has whiskey in it and I was right (the alchocol is not a combination of plants). Since there was so much alcohol, I did not know what to expect. After that alchocolic opening it evolves into a sweet composition that is pleasant. The composition is rounded and refined and it reminds me on a dark blue color. Tobacco in this fragrance is not smoky and dry as in the other perfumes. At the base must be sandalwood which supports the sweetness. Opening is similar to Lubin Idole but perfume as a whole is reminiscent of Le Male. The perfume is suitable for the night and it's made for the whole year. His durability is as good as the projection. All in all, a very good perfume and it's on the "wish list". This fragrance was made for a dandy in previous century. Today is for a modern metrosexuals :P
I adore Le Dandy, who drinks whisky, loves spices and herbs and smoke fine tobacco.I could be a spoilt little girl near him.I love the strong and clear character of him.I cannot ask more from you.
P.s. I Love U !
Love this one. I'm female, but it wears unisex. As roboman says, it's warm and boozy and I get clear tobacco and something slightly sharp that truly reminds me of fine whisky. I really love this one.
whiskey is not an accord that i have fallen in love with. However, this feels like a brandy note instead of whiskey.
This beautiful cologne is warm and boozy with notes of apricot, baked apple, and spices. It smells like an elixir that would have been drunk on cold Christmas eves of yore. It is for fans of Michael by Michael kors who enjoy boozy frags with some spic thrown in for good measure.
This one is easily one of my favorite frags of all time.
