Ohhh me, ohhh my...spicy patchouli...it's like my dream comes true; it's like "I found you" feeling at last.
Benzoin comes a little while after and the whole scent transforms into an aoud-y, incensy combination. It makes the scent more interesting, but I have to admit I was happier with just the simple spicy patchouli at the beginning.
Am I too greedy? Maybe :)
A must.
Definitely vintage feeling at first application. I get patchouli right off the back. Less so the opening notes which is a bit of a disapointment because I'd love some fresh berries and citrus to start the journey. With drydown I get roses and a bit of amber. Also a slight murkiness from the pimento. I find the drydown more spicy, florals fade and the herby frankincense is more apparent. I would've loved for the florals to last longer. I like this one but it's not a love.
This one is definitely vintage inspired, as in preformulated Jicky type vintage. I couldn't believe how similar it was to Jicky on opening.
It has the same sweet, creamy vanilla opening. Jitterbug does not have the powder element (AMEN!!). Between the spice, citrus, and warm, woody and smooth base, it's complex.
It's sweet without being too so, it's got a floral note but the rose and jasmine counter each other and don't dominate the blend.
It's a grown up fun, carefree, playful scent that's got a bit of sassy sexiness thrown in for good measure.
Another good one from DSH! Jitterbug is supposed to be a vintage-inspired perfume, and it definitely accomplishes what it set out to do, reminding me a bit of the old Jean Patou fragrances but with a more natural feel. It starts out with that same light, fluffy, slightly aldehydic-fruity floral impression that I get from some vintage perfumes, but these top notes are quickly joined by a more substantial and down-to-earth base of incense, patchouli and amber. It reminds me of a perfume that my mother had when I was growing up. The sillage is moderate, and the scent lasts 5-6 hours.
If I can anthropomorphize a bit, Jitterbug comes across as a well-made modern “oriental” body wearing a vintage dress made by a famous French couturier. Except for a fleeting hint of soapiness early on, I’m enjoying this very much.
