FRESH WET GRASS!
Three words with amazing sillage and longevity.
Each sniff is visceral and cool
Satisfyingly Masculine.
True violet plus lots of fresh greenness. Lacking that sweetness many violet scents got and I don´t care for.
Will wear this often. Suitable for work, lovely, inoffensive.
A mystery that this one was not marketed as a unisex. Could easily be worn by men and women alike.
i love this perfume.
great, unique, fresh and long lasting for me ...

It was truly an innovation at 2007!
Absolutely woody scent and you can’t find pure scent of wood like this anywhere else but carpentry full of trunks and shavings!
Good for casual daily usage.
Longevity and projection are average.
I love it not for It's so aromatic and chick smell but this perfume is a valuable gift to me and alwayes remind me good memories of my dear Bita. I wore it and after that I hold the empty simple designed bottle of this perfume.
Allow me to start this review by thanking my good friend KRISTO for the gift of not only a spray sample of THIS scent, but its two subsequent flankers and a bevy of others I was dying to try! *BIG HUG, Bro!*
DSQUARED2 is a company that makes pretty pricey clothes with a casual "outdoorsy" feel. They "look" lived in and once you try them...you WANT to live in them. They are really that comfortable and well-made. Their fragrances (at least the men's ones) are pretty similar, all things considered. This opens with a sweet, wet sort of feeling; almost like walking through a forest after it has poured down rain. Lush green leaves still sparkle with drops of water, as the sun returns and sweet cool violets shake off the rain and begin to warm. I wanted to say I thought I smelled the sheer green wateriness of cucumber here, but that could just be a copperhead lurking in the underbrush. As the leaves and flowers fade, a bit, it does become quite woody with cedar's distinctive aroma and a very grassy vetiver, adding a bit of dry greenness. This IS really woody; yet somehow the violets linger, but are never "too much", adding only hints of floweriness nowhere near as powdery as DIOR Homme's violets are. A very nice (non-cloying) vegetal sweetness in a very thick wooden frame. No citruses, no herbs and no heavy spices...just woods and woody scents, thick leaves and just the right amount of floweriness. The drydown of fir (pine), amber and musk is intriguing. The pungent sharpness of the balsam fir is balanced by the warm amber's resinous scent and a musk I can only define as "not too funky" and none too clean...just right! HE WOOD has all the loveliness of the "woods", but none of the dirtiness or earthiness. This is not the scent of a man who lives in and off the land, but one who appreciates its beauty and cannot help but sigh with wonder when standing on a cliff and breathing in the panorama of Nature's untouched beauty. Thank you to Dan and Dean (the Catenacci twins who ARE DSQUARED), this is great!!
Sillage: average
Longevity: good
Overall: 3.75/5
My very first impression of this was actually NR for Him goes hiking! It has a very subtle manly beauty that is less musky and spicy, and far more relaxed and "natural" feeling. HE Wood is a comfortable, down-to-earth no nonsense kind of fragrance. It is not trying to impress anyone...and THAT impresses me. It rather simple in its construction, but it really is the simple things in life that make me the happiest. The smell of the rain on the forest, the green of Nature and the warmth of the sun and rustle of the leaves in the breeze. I really think these two boys are on to something here...
I regret returning it. I think it's because I sprayed it on my hand and basically get intoxicated with it. Lol. I have to purchase some more. It's deffinately the beginning of something new. It's so intriuing and fresh. It's nature in a bottle.
He Wood shares quite a few similarities with both Fahrenheit (current formulation) and Cuir Pleine Fleur. Basically the violet leaf note that's pretty similar to the one in the above mentioned fragrances, but while Fahrenheit pushes on the accellerator with its characteristic uniqueness and Cuir Pleine Fleur introduces floral patterns and a bitter leather note achieving an extreme elegance and depth, He Wood turns into a vetiver and synthetic woods middle phase/drydown that's pretty pleasant yet not particularly interesting.
Overall the scent smells good and it's well executed but there are better options out there. Not bad.
Rating: 6.5/10
This one reminds of Fahrenheit 32. I think it is the violet note. I don't get much woods of it, but overall a good fragrance.
Projection: 8.0/10
Longevity: 7.5/10
Bottle Presentation: 9.0/10 (Nice wood frame)
Overall: 8.0/10
This is a try to me.
why am i always reminded of Fahrenheit whenever I put either this fragrance or Rocky Mountain Wood on?I guess it must be the violets but all the same it's a good enough fragrance for me but still prefer Rocky Mountain which has more interesting notes and lasts a longer time on my skin even after ive had a shower.
All the same I will give this a thumbs up though i can see not all will like the violets at play here.
love it!! it's fresh and very woody smell. the best one, compared to the other 2 He wood fragrances.
So I purchased He Wood blindly because my female coworker raved about it. As a matter of fact 90% of my fragrances are blind purchases :o(
What about He Wood? Well, let me tell you what I get because I still don't know what certain notes smell like (accept tonka, amber and a couple of others). This smells like someone put a sweet glaze on a cucumber. This pretty much stays linear. It is sweet enough to be worn in colder weather but I honestly believe this is a spring maybe even warmer weather scent. It won't become cloying or overbearing in the heat, it may actually kick it up a notch. I am going to try it here on a summer day (TX) and see what I get.
Some people get the whole woodsy vibe I don't know much about nature or hiking but I guess it can smell like a damp forest or the smell of dew in a nature park I guess. Yes, it smells wet, woodsy like a beautiful spring day bike trail riding. Anyway that translates to sweet cucumber to me. I like it lot the staying power is long just minimal projection after a couple of hours, I think you can get away with spraying a little extra, the scent doesn't seem like heavier applications would make it too strong to me.
My goal was to find a new woody fragrance. My favorite woody scents from the old days are Zino Davidoff and Fahrenheit.
Went to the perfume store today and tested all three Dssquared woods on a strip. This one was my favorite of the three and the lovely lady made me a sample.
I really love the opening. All woody as I expected. But now, half an hour later there's not much wood left. I only get a fresh Anise-like scent. Not bad, but certainly not what I was looking for.
Looks like I'll have to go for the classic fragrances I mentioned above again if I wanna go woody all the way, hehe!
Edit: A few weeks later I got myself a bottle of Zino: yumyum!!
You are like a little torrent after the summer tempest in the woods, the air around you , well...woody and mossy and moist. This is the frag of a wet folly and wintery weekenday, dig this one out, it's all good!
I recall meeting a guy that was wearing this fragrance. I fell in love with the perfume right away.
I just found it fantastic, in a way dreamy, simple yet intriguing!!
I love the smell and the concept, I tend to ignore concepts, but this is a fresh, natural creation which feels relaxed. This makes me think of the cool, wet patch of a gorgeous swampland my brother and I found as kids, there was this odd, thick grass covering the tough, lumpy soil. I had no idea what the grass was called, all I knew was that it was the softest, coolest place to lay during summer.
I could have sworn banana wood was in there, but my girlfriend says she can smell cucumber.
Still, it's a beautiful scent. Up in my top 5
On my skin He Wood is very similar to Azzaro Now. If you like Azzaro Now, you can be sure, you will like this DSQUARED² too. If you mix Azzaro Now with some fresh and air scent like Kenzo Pour Homme Fresh, you can get an idea what is He Wood… the silage and lasting power are average/ i'm a little bit disappointed/, but i think He Wood is a great men fragrance. Good job DSQUARED²!
A watery woody-earthy scent to my nose. Chocolateguy couldn't have said it better: lack of "sexiness or hapeness or unique or dareness." I would choose Diesel Only the Brave instead, if I have to.
Hi.
A friend of mine wearning a Modern,Woody and Aromatic fragrance meantime He has a Youthful character i ask him what this fragrance is?He said HE WOOD.Then i tested it on my skin.
Top notes is Aromatic and Nice for me it is one of the best top notes amid Young brands.Quite fresh like Cucumber scent.vetiver creates a Lovely middle notes but unfortunately Musk and Amber can not make a beautiful finale on my skin!
Casual,Young and Certainly Masculine.A clean,Refreshing example in a Light carefree way.in my opinion this composition is perfect for a Pleasant non offensive Scent.a Good choice for present for a Young men.The bottle is Cute too. However in ROCKY MOUNTAIN for me everything is in perfect harmony.
Sillage?Average.
Longevity? It is not noticeable on my skin and probably it is the reason of not buying it!
6.5/10
I love strolling through the woods in all the seasons, on these occasions I avoid to wear perfume at all, it would weaken my nose so I would miss the natures best perfume: the scent of narrow branches, broken by feet of man or animal, the layers of fir needles on the floor mixed with green leaves and some small flowers and fresh air.
With these ideas I tested He Wood while the sales lady looked sceptical at me (why shouldn't a woman like woodsy scents??) Well I like He Wood a lot, and I think some day in autumn or late summer I will buy it. It's the loveliest capturing of wood I ever encountered, it lacks completely the typical cheap-mens-aftershave-with-indistinct-wood note, so I feel it's pretty for both for ladies and men.
It's a wood shifting from wet, freshly cut wood to a more smoky dry wood scent, reminiscent of cut stems lying in the sun. The first hour I sense some white lilac, in fact the most true white lilac ever since it grows in our garden and cool white sand. Well it's the most natural smelling perfume, discreet and inoffensive, if my husband cared for perfumes I'd bought it for him, since he doesn't I'll have to wear that beauty for myself ;-)
nice fragrance but very common. nothing special with poor sillage and longevity. doesn't go with its price. Disappointing one. i give it 4 out of 10.
Perfumer. Daphne Busey:
Countains: ozone, white fir, vegetal amber, musk, aquatic notes, violet blossoms and leves, vetiver and cedarwwod.
I fell inlove straight away when first sniffed, but, ey!, there was something about it that reminded me other well known juice straight away, so I decided to experiment and wait for reactions.
I made sniff my neck to every single friend of mine.
Conclusion: They thought it was KenzoAir with an aquatic nuance, just like me. I was not they only one though.
Both colognes share vetiver and cedar. I'm a fan of KenzoAir, but I have to admit this a way better cologne in my opinion.
He wood is a minimal fragrance: a dreamscape of a light scent of a forest breeze near a lake.
It provides a new step on “wood” accords— it's smooth, bleached woods floating on sweet, cool, lightly flower-scented water.
Starts kind of aquatic and ozonic, definitively synthetic but pure, just like a whisper, but with presence. So many people has remarked that the initial burst is alcohol like, but to my nose is like watery fresh clean cut light wood, a similar smell of a paper manifactured factory with a liquid quality..
The fir here it's no very evident, but, in a few minutes the perfume gets personality and body, I smell violet leaf, a beautiful violet flower note, mild vetiver and water notes that blends beautifully with the vetiver and cedar. There's altrough a nice ambient of forest and the previous watery soft accord remains gorgeous in the background.
It develops gorgeous and heady above yourself. It doesn't project grandly, but it's enough noticiable.
This is a dream of perfume, it's just the same atmosphere as KenzoAir without the aniseed.
It's funny how completely opposite essences can share close similarities.
He Wood is an alive dream, the scent of how a fairy forest would smell like. A new solution for those that like light woody fragrances with a different touch.
The longevity is average. No more than 4 hours.
I like it, I bought this blind and it smells like wet wood. Think of a forest(kinda like the ones in the Twilight movies). Definetly not a dry woods type of fragrance, but it smells good, especially for days when your gonna be outdoors. Actually, this is the type of fragrance Jacob from Twilight would wear (i know that sounds incredibly lame). Very woody, earthy, outdoorsy, but not spicy what-so-ever. A great fall/spring scent
They did a really great job making this smell like freshly cut wood... However, it also smells a lot like a teen fragrance from places like Abercrombie or American Eagle (while wearing this, someone actually asked me if I wearing Fierce) so you can imagine the turn off of a 26 year old sporting this stuff. He Wood is rather long lasting, but isn't very projecting. I am interested in trying the Rocky Mountain Wood seeing how it seems to be a darker, more projecting version of this... maybe it wouldn't be as high school smelling.
I love D'Squared He Wood! The first time I took a sniff of it, I just had to get it right then & there.
It's a very cool yet sophisticated scent. You can use it on those easy days & on special occasions.
It's one of my favorites & one of those scents that I'll never grow tired of.
Had plenty of compliments after wearing this fragrance. It is a nice mixture of dry woods, violet leaves, with a light powdery finish. The vetiver and cedar in the middle notes are very long lasting. This is perfect for the cold season. This has very good longevity.
have you ever cut a piece of narrow branch from a tree and try to smell the middle of it?it's the best way to describe he wood.
at the first sniff it smells like cucumber and wood.It smells really fresh and airy.it should be violet leaf.it has some similarities with Daisy by Marc Jacobs at the first sniff and in daisy violet leafs exists too.
by the way vetiver appears soon, giving it warm and more manly scent.
this is a very light, juvenescence and refreshing fragrances.I think it's more suitable for younger audiences.I like the way it doesn't smell like the common colognes I know, but it's a bit too light for my nose;just fresh wood and cucumber.the other edition is more noticeable and intense.
by the way I like this new company very much;innovative and smart.DSQUARED 2 rules.
Went to a The Bay ... ie Canadian Macy's lol :P ... The lady at the counter told me to try it.
The top notes are awesome! I was like wow! A freshy ozony woodsy scent.
The mid notes were ok...
I was waiting for the base notes... Somehow it has a soapy, powdery finish. I don't like. Reminds me of Dove soap with flowers... I don't like.
Too bad the top notes aren't the base ones. It would have been awesome.
I do not understand it one bit...It smells wonderful in the bottle, but when you wear it there is no lasting power......My boss sniffs me daily to smell what I am wearing and she swore I was wearing dial soap and no colonge. I then had a friend try it and I have tried it many more times and it just doesnt last on anyone I know who has tried it. I really LOVE the way it smells in the bottle, but sadly no lasting power.
At first sniff I had dismissed this as a generic masculine woody scent , however , after waiting , just like the experts tell us to do , I found that there was more to this scent then meets the sniffer. It is capturing the elements one finds in the forest woods , leaves , some blossoms and moisture and it does a good job of it. I found that the woods clung to the very end not leaving it wimpy in the drydown phase.
Nothing special about these 'WOOD'...
I sampled today @ the airport's shop, and when the first time i sniff it! There is no WOW on this or GREAT on that!
But i frankly won't regret it if i buy this for Daily Wear! Its just...SO SO...
I am little disappoint.on me is very very light and last for two hours.I gave it to my brother and he love it:)
It's gorgeous!!! It's just unique and gorgeous!!!
My very first favourite....I know it's for men, but I love it, it makes me so "confident and strong"....and sexy too
I love it, my friend and I disagreed while I was purchasing it, but after wearing it out for a night I think it is one of the best colonges I have bought in a long time!
I love it !!!!
It lacks of Dsquared's sexiness or shapeness or unique or dareness. It's light, so-so, fresh in a popular way. A sadly disappoinment!
At the beginning it didn'y like me so much...but day by day it conquered me. I like how is fresh on the beginning but at the end it lasts so long. Perfect for everyday, and it lasts even after a training in the gym:-)
My favorite at the moment! The opening is watery herbaceous, with pretty cucumber nuances (violet leaf).. then light and earthy vetiver appears. The mix of violet leaf and vetiver is perfect! A modern interpretation of good old vetiver scents. Very light, but long lasting.
