This is an excellent fragrance, especially for outdoors activity. If a lumberjack went to a formal dinner this is what he would wear. I primarily get violet on a bed of cedar. It sounds simple but it is well blended, natural, and very nice smelling.
This fragrance lasts forever on my skin and projects like a boss. The perfect scent for going to the park or hiking, if you would wear a scent for those activities. You could get away with this for other occasions as it is inoffensive but it may not suit them.
As soon as I first sprayed this fragrance I thought it was very good, the aromatic and woody aromas are prominent and are consistent throughout the dry down. It's just a shame the longevity sucks on my skin, I get less than an hour before it is barely noticeable. Still a fantastic fragrance that I would recommend
RMW is one of the few fragrances that gets the pepper notes right and creates a good balance with the floral notes. Definitely evokes a rainy day in the forest image and has that deep note of fresh chopped wood. A great fall fragrance and is light enough to be worn all year and become a signature. The bottle design reminds me of the 'Odori' line up, don't know who copied whom, but I really like that they used real wood instead of a cheap vinyl stick ons. If you are looking for a safe masculine fragrance that stands out from the crowd, RMW is a good choice.
I wish I had purchased this cologne over two year's ago when I first seen it. I hadn't heard of it and I didn't want to take a chance.
WOW...is what describes this cologne in my opinion.
When I first sprayed it on my skin I pick up the warm spicy scent with the aroma of violet. He Wood Rocky Mountain has a very unique blend of Incents/ woodsy aroma with amber which makes it a sophisticated fragrance. The other two notes Musk and lily helps to give this cologne a slight floral aroma as if you are walking through a meadow going into a forest with evergreens surrounding you.
The wood casing is an excellent touch to a ONE OF KIND cologne which nothing out there compares to.
I find this cologne best suitable for the fall/winter time. It is a very classy cologne which could be worn on special occasion's as well.
Longevity is well past 9 hour's when you spray it one time only.
Sillage is excellent more then moderate.
Overall, I have several preferred colognes and know I have added this one to my collection which I have used a lot this winter past and I can't wait when I can find an occasion even it's not the winter time.
This fragrance has a smooth aroma and anyone wearing it knows how good this it.
EXCELLENT.....10/10
this smells kind of nice...fresh spicy violets. it dosn't smell that woody to me though. Im not a big fan of this though its too tart, and indistinct. Also the dry down smells horrible on my skin...like super acidic and sharp. Maybe its just body chemistry?
Love at first sniff for me...and the dry down is beautiful. The perfect blend of violet, woods and pepper. The violet is strong, but its soft and comforting, not loud and aggressive (grey flannel anyone?) which is why I love it. I love violet but hate it when it's too strong!
This whole scent is just perfectly fresh, clean and comforting. Outdoorsy and natural.
The pepper is soft and mild, although there is an overall gentle menthol thing going on when I take a big sniff right up my nostrils. Amazing.
This is the perfect fresh clothes smell thing for me. I want my clothes, towels, sheets etc. to all smell of this. Just puts a smile on your face!
I doubt this is what the mountains actually smell like in Canada. Never actually been, though. I don't think people should take this too literally as I am sure they only meant this to be the "vibe" of the scent. Not soil, pine, earth etc. But clean, fresh and natural cool air. They have done this perfectly.
I can see why some people find this boring. It is. It's not deep, complex or evolving, but what's wrong with that? It's not trying to be. It is perfect in it's simplicity, and sometimes you just want something that's, well, nice! With that in mind, it is an every day type of scent...day time, at work, out doors etc.
Projection is pretty good for a few hours and then it stays close to the skin for hours more, so longevity is decent. Best used on cooler days for the warming and comforting effect of it, but the freshness is also good for when it's a bit warmer too. I had it on yesterday, it was warm and muggy and the freshness followed me around all day :-)
Can't recommend this enough!
i dont know but everytime i wear this and smell it i really smile, it's a real natural and divine,Great longevity and sillage.
Natural, woody... Perfect to me...im a farmer, so i can feel this thing in my "dayjob". I love hunting. I think that this fragrance is all about country guy.
This is really heavy on the violet on me. People say it smells like nature - well, it surely does not smell anything like the Norwegian mountains or forests. I remember being very dissapointed by the first spray after opening the box. It is waaaay too floral (the violet not, I'm guessing). Having said that, I do kinda like it now, when applied sparingly (1 spray). I do think it's a good quality scent. It's mellow, it smells natural (though not at all like nature!), and it has great sillage and good longevity. NB! It does get quite soapy after a while, so stay clear if that's not your thing.
I really should give this some more tries, I just rarely find myself reaching for it in the morning. I don't ever find my self thinking "ah, yeah, today I want to smell (like) RMW. I've never used it for nights out and such, and I honestly think this is a "daytime only" fragrance. I've never received any comments on my scent when wearing it.
a very nice well put together woody scent. infact as dmarcus1260 mentioned, smells very similar to Burberry Touch for men. moderate sillage but long lasting, i get 8 hrs easy. been using it for only a few days now and its the peak of summer out here. this just might smell better in the colder months. 8.5/10. very nice.
A very good and longlasting cologne, reminds me of Loewe 7, mostly because of the incense notes.
Where have you been, welcome to my collection, great smell, moderate projection, magnificent skin scent, drydown is great, love this fragrance.
Just captured my soul first smell. If you got bored anormal sweet include fragrances, give him a chance.
Possibly my favourite men's fragrance to this day (maybe together with Burberry London). I do like my men smelling of spices and wood and this one fills all my expectations. At the start it can be VERY peppery, but this later settles down to become more woody. I love both these stages, and they drive me crazy. If a random guy walked past me and I smelled this perfume, I'd probably run up to him to get his number. I wish it was easier to buy this perfume in UK!
This is a solid woody fragrance with great violet note. Feels strong and natural, in my opinion this is nature in a bottle. It's like entering a deep forest with violets all around. Very masculine, projects amazing and it last more than 8 hours on me.
I really recommend He Wood Rocky Mountain Wood for the men who likes nature, woody notes and especially violet.
4.5 out of 5.
Got it for a dear friend as a Christmas gift, knowing that the guy is crazy about mountains and nature. Apparently this frag is very likeable, and it adds some class to the natural feeling it inspires.
This is average powdery woody cologne. This is good for casual use in Fall & Winter season.
I've forgotten to say something about the pepper: I think it is white pepper, it is very fresh, natural as if it were just being grounded and I can also smell something minty like menthol when I smell it, very soothing. The semll of pepper mixes with the environment, I mean, it seems to get stronger when one is eating and/or prepearing food, like french toast, but in a very pleasant palatable way, different to the one I get from Cartier Declaration or ST Dupont pour homme. It is odd because it doesn't project much, stays very close to you but I can feel it all the time.
I am so happy it doesn't make me feel I am about to enter a forest, woods, stepping into the realm of nature. It is an amazing fresh scent, mildly masculine I mean the floral bouquet is very strong and yet not too sweet but the cedar is just beautiful. Overall RMW is a very clean and classy Mature scent and I am wearing it for work, daytime, under the Summer time, this year hasn't been that hot at all and the evenigs are just fresh with lots of cool sea breeze. As many have said before it is more a green scent than woody. As much as i like it is not that soapy as I would like it to be. It also reminds me of Prada Amber pour homme without the soapness, drier. Rocky Mountain Wood is a very pleasant change for me. Just hoping the Silver Wind to be more of an evening scent. Fantastic bottle.
I love the look of the bottle, very unique which is why I bought the fragrance. That and I'm an outdoors, nature kind of guy so I thought this fragrance would capture the smell of the Rocky Mountains. Does it? Not to my nose. Where are the fir and pine needle notes? And pepper? Pepper trees do not grow in the Rocky Mountains. The wood note from cedar combined with the violet and pepper sometimes reminds me of the smell of wood that has been infested with termites. That said I sold my bottle last year. Today I am wearing Burberry Touch for Men. As crazy as this may seem, Burberry Touch for Men for some reason reminds me of He Wood Rocky Mountain Wood. Maybe it's not so crazy as both fragrances share violet and pepper notes.
This is the most unique scent in my collection. I bought it blind after reading some decent reviews. I knew I wanted something He Wood but wasn't sure which of the 4 to go with. I am glad I went with this one first...get longevity and sillage. This is a instant classic for Winter and cooler Fall days. Could be worn during the day or in the evening equally as well. A must in any man's collection living in cooler climates for sure.
An alluring, sexy, modern, cool, trendy moorish scent, which after a while gets a soapy twist..
I applied 6 heavy sprays
0 - 1 hours - 10 inch projection. Now this is a head turner! Its sexy and modern and stands out. Well made and quite clean. I sat back and enjoyed the experience. Just brilliant
1 hours - 5 hours - 4 inch projection. A soapy twist penetrates and gets stronger over time
5 hours - 8 hours 2 inch projection. Strong soapiness
8 - 16 hours. Close to skin but lasts for ages!
Well Cool bottle
Good
This is a subtle yet wonderful vetiver scent. Imagine you're walking in a rainy forest - thats its smell. Smells elegant and it's an all-year-around fragrance. Definetely worth a bottle! Thumbs up!
I think, it smells like Paul Smith Story. This one has more projection and long lasting
In my opinion this...this is the perfect combination between violets and wood,i don't find neither one of them overwhelming the other one,a perfect equilibrium. The piper blend in the right amount just to complete this recipe!I find this as the only fragrance that i can overlook the downsides, longevity and projection on my skin!A+ for the idea madame Daphne Bugey!
Nice, subtle peppery woody scent. Not a whole lot interesting I remember from it though. It definitely smelled unique and pleasant though.
Unique scent, first you smell the woods, then it keeps getting warm and warm, like someone is putting a lot of pepper on it, after it turns more comfortable
It's casual and elegant at the same time but I dont think it could work in the heat
This is a very natural fragrance. If you bought it you will buy it again and again. It reminds me my past.It seems like you are in a forest walking ad sniffing the nature that human beings are not entered yet.
when i wear it,i feel walking through mountain covered with snow. it is unique perfume and for all seasons you can use it. but unfortunately it has moderate last longing on my skin(only 4 hours) and after that it's close to your skin. however it's OK.
IF ADAM MUST HAVE A "SCENT" INSIDE PARADISE He Wood Rocky Mountain Wood SHOULD BE HIS FRAGRANCE
From all my fragrances my wife loves this one the most! Her words: «Smells great. No one gets offended. It's all time classic. It smells CLEAN fresh. Natural. Active. Masculine.» What can I say more? Nothing. She said it all.
But then why I don't like it that much? Why is not my number one fragrance? I don't know! I like it very-very-much. Somehow reminds me my beautiful wife anyway. But clearly I'm missing something here that she is getting.
Both Longevity and Sillage some times are good some times are not. (on me at least - I don't know why)
The smell is very masculine and unique (which I like), I just, wish it to be more...powerful maybe, but then again... maybe then it will be spoiled if not "damaged". Now it is very well composed.
My Total Score: 9.5/10 (my wife's score: 11+ /10)
I heard a lot of people saying that it smell natural.
I totally agree , this is the most natural woody smell that i have ever tried.
I will not describe every phase because all are the same , a dry violet and woody smell , that's it . No sweetness here IMO.
This is so much quality fragrance , suitable for spring winter and fall,
And when anyone say " unique " , this is the definition of it.
Wonderful scent , it lacks longevity ( last about 4 hours ) but still amazing.
This being one of my favorite scents of all time, and the longevity and sillage being dissapointing for me... try Burberry Touch. They have similarities and Touch projects strongly and lasts. They aren't identical but for sure similar enough.
it's a kind of more wearable encre noir. I'm not sure which one is better but both of them are amazing masculines..
a complete waste of time
scent 9/10
sillage2/10
duration 3/10
I gave this for my boyfriend as a surprise. I hadn't even smelled it before i bought in from the internet. But i was positively surprised- violets! And wood! lot's of wood and lot's of violets. I love it.
It's clean, sexy, woody, manly and unique. I love when my boyfriend wears it. When i read about it i immediately tought of my bf since he reminds me of wood, mountains and violets. We have talked about going on a roadtrip and see the Rocky Mountains so... i thought this was a fun thing to give him.
Ok i know, lot's of "him" and "my boyfriend" in this "review".
But anyone who wants to have special someone who smells like dark woods and fresh air (not sporty-fresh, not citrus-fresh) and violet flowers should get it. It's not like one in the row of similar perfumes. I tried it on myself and quite enjoyed it actually, so i think it could easily be a unisex one.
NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING like Encre Noir. Wow people have some bad noses out there. Encre Noir along being very unique yet risky has a very dark masculine scent with a smokey black forest mossy touch. This one on the other hand has a fresh cut Cedar wood scent (the kind you put in your closet) with a refreshing sweet nice scent of the violet flower. Think of a rugged lumbar jack cutting wood for your home while wearing Violeta baby cologne in the summer day.
This is a sexy clean fragrance. Based on reviews I expected something extremely masculine, but I would totally wear this!
Pleasantly surprised by this one. Confident in its masculinity without approaching macho. Does have an 'outdoors' sort of vibe. This is one of the best woodsy colognes I've ever tried. RMW isn't a powerhouse. It has muscle enough to get the job done but it doesn't blast the senses. This is a good quality.
One thing though. It's most likely the violets, or maybe even the lily, but those two notes do get a little grating after awhile. The violets just don't quit. I've read comments from more than a few people getting crosseyed at whatever it is they use these days to represent violets. On me they often become cloying and overly sweet smelling without ceasing. But considering how much I like everything else in the makeup of the cologne I can turn the cheek to this. Just wear it more diffused and not so close to the face.
Longevity is very good. Projection seems just right. Sillage seems more than adequate. Good scores across the board in these areas.
All in all I'd say if you like woodsy colognes and the great outdoors you'll like this stuff. But because of the floral notes mentioned I'd say try before you buy.
Thumbs up!
I tested this from a big outlet here in Maldives (for people who might be wondering where in the world that place is, it's loctated on the Equator in the Indian Ocean. A very rare chance you might see in on the charts :P) hehe..anyways, i tested it and i fell in love with this one.
It opens to dream woody world, peppery in a musculine way and it dries down to a dreamy sweetness. Close to burberry brit. So i boought a 100ml of this one on the spot.
Been wearing it and i feel great. But the problem for me is, it gets real heavy in our weather. The weather in Maldives is always 31 degrees. We have 2 seasons. Well you can call it all summer. We have all sun and heat for half an year and its all rain for the other half. Its 28 or 25 degrees in the rainy season. This projects well in the colder days. Good in office too.
But, in the heat its heavy and cloying. The sweat doesnt get along with this one. One day my aunt asked me what i was wearing, and i proudly said it was this one. She said it smelled like dirty sweaty/damp pile of clothes. :/
Thereafter, i only spray once on the chest. But still it projects well under my shirt. Hence I managed to empty this bottle in like 5 months :P hehe
So i will give it a 10/10 for the projetion.
Scent 7/10
Good for colder days. Maybe people who experience autumn/winter. Definitely not a summer frag.
The Rocky Mountain I have a sample here. It is an elegant scent, woody discreet and easy a blind buy. It opens with the gentle tone floral flower violet accompanied by a mild white pepper. These notes are enclosed by a cedar base discreet and very smooth. Its evolution goes to a slightly incensed. I could not feel amber and musk here.
The aroma of cedar me and that typical smell of colonial furniture, something very nice without being strong. Good perfume for the day-to-day, especially for spring and fall days.
Good scent, and the glass bottle in it's dark wooden frame fit's it perfectly aswell, although, it's not very handy to use and the glass bottle sits a little loose in the wooden frame, but i don't think it will fall out though, and it's square, it couldn't be any different :) .
The initial notes remind me of Fahrenheit Absolute and Encre noir, a lot.
But there's some kind of lighter undertone, slightly fresher, but just very subtle, by no means this is a fresh scent, it's heavy, dark, smoky, mature, masculine, and woodsy, but with light undertones.
in the beginning it's very heavy and dark, but after a while wind and air will create a fresh veil of softer cedar and violet notes around the dark and smoky undertones, wich makes it a more versatile perfume then Encre Noir or Fahrenheit Absolute.
Very classy and very good scent!
I love it a lot!
very unique, man identity scent
Although longevity is a bit of an issue here, RMW is still a far superior fragrance over other natural wood scents in my opinion, and a lot more versatile season wise as well. I would go as far to say that this one is the most masculine outdoor sent I've ever put on my skin to date. A beautiful composition all the way through, though linear. I've seen Marc's review online and this would be one instance where I would have to disagree with him on. I just can't see anyone under the sun pulling Rocky Mountian Wood off. There's an element of maturity here due to the vetiver, and I don't vision a high school teen pulling this scent off as well as an adult male. I'd say 20 and up on this one at least, but that's just my opinion.
Regardless, my oldest stepdaughter loves this scent on me but my wife's not crazy about it. Oh well, I'd rather sleep on the couch then give up wearing Rocky Mountian Wood. 10 out of 10. Perfect!
Balance, this is what might be called the Rocky Mountain. Perfume woody, floral and incense for those who do not like woody, floral and incense. All these nuances are perfectly balanced. A greater acceptance of perfumes I've ever seen, both men and women.
This is one of my favorite, indeed.
I haven't found any fragrance that smells like this yet. I've used like 2/3 of it already(which was purchased last spring), and I'm definitely buying this again and again.
Very unique one.
دوستش دارم
for me this is the best from the house of dsquared..!!
Though it lacks in longevity but still it is way too good for the price i paid...I bought two bottles and looking forward to geeting one more before it vanishes...the name suits the fragrance and it may give you a feeling of being in the forests..!! I love it!! I'll give it 8/10
Very good fragrance. It's not a run of the mill designer scent. I get lots of violet, musk, and woods from it on my skin. Great projection and longevity (10+ hours). This is a future buy for me. 9/10.
Very good woody perfume from dsquared. The best of the wood series.I also like the original one,but ocean wet wood and silver wind wood are not good enough.
I dislike because it didn't live up to my expectations and the hype. It has a couple of nice notes but it's kind of a weak scent. I returned this blind buy.
Until now, the best production of DSQUARED2
Primary odor of burnt wood smell of the forest
And then the aroma of forest flowers are disposed.
Really wonderful and very masculine.
Longevity: 7/10
Projection: 6/10
Scent: 9/10
Uniqueness: 8/10
Versatility: 8/10
OVERALL: 38/50
A great woody floral fragrance.
Start with strong and smoky woodsy notes, black pepper and incense with hint of violet.
Imagine this : smock of a burned jungle that there are some trees left without harm. you can smell woods and smell of the burned trees at the same time. also there is a meadow with so many violet flowers nearby!
In the darydown, incense is weak in the background with stronger violet and hint of musk and black pepper.
Finally in the base, musk and woods hand to hand with a little violet.
Very natural smell with great projection and longevity.
GREAT PRICE NICE PERFUME.;)
Nice, comfortable and gentle woody scent with low projection and sillage. It could easily be unisex at least for my nose. And it could have better longevity as well.
I
Love
This
Stuff.
Enough Said.
This is Springtime in a bottle. 'Nuff Said.
An absolute gorgeous fragrance that is one of few that truly capture the message and landscape that the designers set out to convey.
When I wear this I am instantly taken to a cool, breezy, cabin, sitting on the porch cleaning sharpening my axe (because I'm a man like that)..while my lungs fill with the gorgeous air formed by mystique of the surrounding mountains, the beauty of the violets and lilies growing by my side, and a woodiness stemming from the cabin grounds.
This is my go-to Spring time signature scent. It reminds me of a peaceful day in the mountains after rain. Opens with a light, slightly sweet, floral scent with woods lingering in the background. The drydown becomes sweeter, with woods dominating and violet and lily mellowed out.
Beautiful, and one of my favorites! This is sure to invoke memories!
7/10
Would have given it an 8, but projection is weak, although longevity is pretty good...8+ hours.
Extremely versatile fragrance, although I keep this for the spring.
Unsual from the other colognes i've tried. I personally don't care for it, smell gives me a huge headache. If your goin for a woody smell this is def the cologne for you. I find the scent sticks with you (even after i've taken a shower). Id suggest not to blind buy... try it out first
Beautiful scent, but the sillage is very-very weak. Do not blind buy!
When I first opened this from the package, I couldn't wait to test it out based on all of the positive reviews. I applied one spray on the wrist and it smells amazing! The smell kept for maybe 25-30 minutes before I couldn't notice it anymore which is a major drawback for me. It's longevity is solid although it's projection is very weak, which kind of defeats the longevity. If you are looking for something super subtle, I mean hugging or kissing close to even notice, then it's great but I dont see how anyone could notice it just by walking by them. The scent itself is a mix between cucumber water, incense and cedar. The incense is actually pretty strong in this which I like a lot. It's definitely worth a try if extremely subtle is your thing. Definitely sample first or buy a small bottle.
scent: 9/10
longevity: 8/10
projection: 4/10
Aside from the unfortunate bottle which i find clumsy and tacky, this one i think is a winner. Ive samples hundreds of woody scents and although not as well done as something like comme des garcons man 2, this is a lot cheaper, last alot longer, and has no off notes that i can find. Very nice, manly, natural smelling. Not over spicy or heavy. sparkling almost
My first woody perfume, n i'm lovin it!!!! Perfect scent for a real man!!!
Love this.I got it for Christmas and it is perfect.
Not too strong but smells to me of a carpenter's shop with a touch of added pencil shavings from a school classroom.
There is a hint of violet and after an hour it mellows down nicely to a perfect skin scent.
Would not offend anyone and I would love it if the product was available in shower gel, deodrant etc as would lov to smell of it all day without re applying.
Mentioned that there is a similarity with this and Burberry touch for men that I also love.
out of 10 a good 9..It will be a fragrance that I use until bottle is empty and not one to put at the back of my collection..
I like the original one better. this makes me headache. too strong!
5/10
Mine is lose but not badly
Anyone had a problem with a loose wooden cover/box?
Treated myself to this beauty. When I first sprayed this in the store it took me right back to my childhood when I used to hide in my parents wooden airing cupboard. The earthy woodsy smell was just like all those years ago. That split beam dry woodsy scent and watery, flowery scent. Great 10/10 Daft to some but that's what fragrances are to me....memories.
After tried different wood scents this one was the winner but also had ocean wet wood. This one is really for outdoor and sport lovers. Really, Really love the cedar smell in this one. Cedar is my favorite smell in perfumes. Great for me.
Same opening as kenzo air (which I love). Middle and base notes are different. This is an excellent vetiver cologne. Only drawback is its longetivity and silage.
This was a love at first scent. Very masculine. The epitome of what is meant by 'woody'. And being rarely found here in Singapore means that it's somewhat unique to me and I get loads of compliments for it. Even in this sunny and very humid tropical weather, the scent lasts long enough.
Well what can i say?
Here is some advice that if you dont take you will be turned off. DO NOT EVALUATE THIS FRAGRANCE UNTIL AT LEAST 30 MINUTES AFTER YOU SPRAY IT ON YOUR SKIN. It literally smells like water that had wood in it for years!!!
The dry down is so mezmerizing! i Sprayed this on as well as Dior Homme, And Dior Homme Sport. I was expecting to like one of those. What happened is that while driving home i kept getting this whif of a refined clean scent. It was from neither Dior but from this.
I was even happier that i was able to find this cheaply from a wonderful connection on Youtube. I love this one. I just have to have 30 mins to spare before i go somewhere to let it dry.
Great, airy, woodsy, noted strong vetiver here. In my opinion it is not dirty scent, light but present. Very masculine indeed. Yes I smell wood, but not from tropical country.
Decent projection, excellent longevity 8+ hours. Better for night use. Highly recommended, but do not blind buy.
Something is too sweet/cloying in this cologne.
Encre Noir is dryer and much better for me.
Lasting power is great.
Iso E Super is one of the ingredients, I'm sure of that!
It's a very modern scent. But at the same time it has some classic touch, maybe because of that violet thing!?
As i sprayed it on my skin for the first time (after i read so much good about it), i immediately bought one big bottle.
Its so great after shower, because i definetely agree with the comment below, its so very airy, fresh and yet quite elegant at the same time, because freshness is made by some nice flowers and it reminds you of wet wood. So its not a ACTION-MEN scent, more a subtile, 'early morning by the sea'!
It makes you feel very comfortable, when you go spending a night well dressed :)
Overall one my absolutely favorites!
I’m new here, far from expert but I have a nose just like others. Blind bought a big bottle of this, I found dominant violet and vetiver. It’s so wet and airy, very subtle yet notable. Refreshing scent and inoffensive, I can’t stop sniff the air around. Longetivity is so great, more than 8 hours on my skin. Definitely not versatile enough still try to find perfect occasion to wear this though. Did I mention longetivity is great?
از نظر نوع رایحه بهتر از نسسخه قبلی یعنی هی وود می باشد
به نظرم دوام و پخش آن هم بالاتر باشد
کار خوبی است
تقریبا همه می پسندن

I am new to writing reviews and therefore not 100% fluent when it comes to fragrance terminology but I do have my nose in the arsenal which I hope is good enough.
In regards to this fragrance, it may be one of my favourites of all time. I enjoy hiking and trekking through forests. This smells like as if you just came back from a heavy two day trek through the thickest and most potent forests.
The scent is literally woody at first and then slowly turns into a peppery woody concoction. It is amazingly unique and VERY long lasting.
Whenever I decide to wear it, I tend to wear darker toned colours i.e. brown and dark green etc.
Either way, it is 100% worth a sniff and hopefully turns into a "buy" for you.
Usually when a company does a really nice scent, then flanks it...it is not as good as the original. In the case of HE WOOD Rocky Mountain, I "liked" HE WOOD but absolutely LOVE this one...
It is STILL warm and woody, but here the "forest" is a bit darker, spicier and heavenly! This opens with a nice dry green scent, paired a great peppered floral accord of cool violets and creamy (but not "too" feminine) lilies. The pepper is not strong, but is all around you; rather like a spicy "fog" that rolls in as the sun sets and the moon rises. Where HE Wood was the morning and warming day in the cooler lowland "woods"; Rocky Mountain is an evening in the older forests of the mountains , with night quickly falling. The warmth of amber, with the smoky incense and a cool breezy musk, reminds me of how the day's heat is still held in the trunks of mighty trees; even as the dew begins to fall on the grass. As the moon comes out from behind a cloud, crickets sing as mighty cedars sway in the night air and tall grasses blow...what a scent! This really smells great on my skin, and I may just HAVE TO get a full bottle, and soon! There is a far way (very faint) aroma of nocturnal sensuality here, like you have caught another's scent; and you want to join in the chase. Like the very forest itself wants me to run "wild" in it, and open up to your (often repressed) animal nature. NOT that it smells all that animalic itself; but that it makes you want to be out in the wild sylvan night, to seize it...and LIVE!
Sillage: good
Longevity: above average
Overall: 4.25/5
I do have to say here that when I first smelled this (in the winter time) at a shop, I was not all that impressed. It was very nice, but I went with something thicker, gourmand and spicy. NOW, in these warm end of summer days (and much cooler nights), this scent REALLY comes alive. Perhaps the humidity and heat of the middle of summer made the flowers "wilt" and made the spicy muskiness fade too quickly. I recommend this wholeheartedly for days that are none too hot and nights that are neither balmy nor cold. Unabashedly masculine yet having a softer side, while remaining mysterious, somewhat bold and naughty-this is my kind of scent!!
I'm in love with this one. I just bought it yesterday, so I may have to update this review in the near future, but I have only glowing praise to give RMW. It is floral, it is earthy, and it is woody/spicy. To me it starts woody/peppery, then after only a few minutes the florals emerge radiantly. I can detect the Canadian Lily along with the violet. The woodiness is always there underneath and supporting everything, and the florals just float along in front of the woods, and it's just great. The woody/spicy notes remind me a lot of my Terre d'Hermès, which I also love. I detect the floral accords all the way through the wearing, and I think that part probably projects more than the woods, but we'll see. Normally I wait a few weeks before writing a review, but I was so enthusiastic I couldn't wait! Definitely unique--I have never smelled another men's fragrance like this one. Before I made the purchase I also tried He Wood, but found it too one-dimensional. Nice, but it had that banana-wood smell that others have written about and it was not nearly as nice and complex as Rocky Mountain Wood. Good work, DSQUARED².
A really good, unique male fragrance. The opening is breathtaking woody notes which I can smell even from the next room (when my brother sprays it). Then the pepper and wood slowly calm down and you can smell floral notes, although woody ones are always there. The bottle and packaging are very nice and fit the content. And the thing that I like about it is the absence of citrus notes, which are present in almost any male fragrances out there.
It's not that sort of "glamorous" scent to fit the young party people, but believe me it's 100% masculine and a very, very exclusive perfume.
This cologne made me embrace woods, which I thought I abhored. It's so compelling. It would be the perfect gift. For intimate affairs for sure.
The easiest way I can say this: This stuff is really, REALLY good. It's so unique and natural. The floral smell is there, yes, but the wood smell is very potent as well. They seem to play off of each other in a very impressive way. The opening is definitely strong and peppery. But after a short period of time, the scent takes a life of it's own, and the "pepper-factor" definitely wears off. Extremely masculine. Although there are floral notes, this isn't really a sweet smelling cologne. It's fresh and outdoorsy. Highly recommended.
Аромат шикарный, очень очень стойкий, оформление флакона и упаковки безупречное всё походит на название данного парфюма, советую!!!
A very natural smelling fragrance, where at the beginning we can feel a pleasant woody aroma which through time mixes with some floral notes. Anyway, a subtle and relaxing fragrance. The only thumbs down is that on my skin this one doesn't last.

Perfection in a bottle. If the Gradens ofEden had a smell it would be this. I haven't got a bottle but I soon will. I hear it's heavily under-rated, well good, it means less people semelling like me. [Laughs maniacally]
Amazing wet wooded floral scent to open with lily and violet delivering the green, almost metallic mineral vibe in combination with clean, subtle pepper. Musk, incense and radiant amber add some sweetness which enhance the floral notes on my skin without being at all cloying or overt.
As this progresses, the pepper becomes more prominent and camphorous cedar appears, creating a rush of clean, stout woody mountain air.
I was actually sampling this for my great-outdoorsy husband but I really don't think this is his thing as the florals on opening may be too obvious for his liking, but I'll still have him try it anyway.
Personally I find this could be unisex and love it for myself as I really dig those raw, sweet wood notes. And dare I say, this is for me, a more wearable version of Serge Lutens Iris Silver Mist. I actually like it much better than She Wood too. I also noticed that even the grey juice is a little viscous so this baby has some real tenacity. So, sorry guys, I won't be passing this sample vial on!
I smell wood in a forest with dew. This fragrance really reach the Dsquared proposal, this scent after the drydown is a fantastic mineral aroma, like rocky mountains in Canada i think! Masterpiece forever!
One of the most underrated fragrances on the market. It's wood note is incredibly rich and addictive and it's floral notes really balance it out. Out of all the fragrances I own and have tested this is one I'll never not have a bottle of and wear on a regular basis. This one is incredible.
Unreal! Perfect! Mistique!
It smells like sexy man is going through the coniferous wood and when he is out of the wood he starts to eat candy :D
This is the only fragrance I have sniffed that comes close to Narciso Rodriguez for him.I guess it's the violets at play here.
In spite of the similarity this is quite unique in its own way and well i love it.Took a friend who's really not into fragrances to John Lewis to sample it and he's now hooked and going for it.
This is an unknown beast and I hope word doesnt get round enough.A great fragrance worth purchasing. It's long lasting enough its already survived a bath and still lingering on me.Bless!!!
smells good in the middle and base notes, woody and slightly floral. in the top notes, I detect a lot of pepper. I live in a country with 4 seasons,Longevity is decent here, but Longevity and projection would be better if I spray on cotton shirts.
Smells exact of wood... but nice one. Give it a try you would at least like it. Good for office wear.
The good: the Rocky Mountains in Colorado is my favorite place on earth. Although Dsquared says it was inspired by the Rockys in Canada, it is an almost perfect replication of the Colorado area Rockys as well. My family used to go camping every summer in the Leadville area. I remember climbing up the mountain behind the camping spot we booked every year to a medow about 300 yards strait up. This is what it smelled like. Strong pine and cedar scents sweetened by sickly sweet musky flowers. A very silvery grey scent if that makes any sence. It is a very memorable scent. It holds a special place in my heart as it reminds me of a special weekend with my wife, as well as all our vacations and good times in the mounains. It also wears FOREVER!!! Thats a big plus for me. And it projects very well, but not so much that it will gag everyone in an elevator or anything.
The bad: Even though it lasts on my skin for a long time, it seems like the musky floral notes fade after an hour or so. So i like to keep a small atomizer of it in my pocket to freshen it up every so often. Other than that the only other complaint i have is that some of the notes smell a little synthetic. It is only noticable to me if i overdo it, but after smoking for 18 years, my sniffer isnt what it used to be. Some people could be totally put off by it. I have found a half spray of kiehl's musk helps mask it.
This one smells so different! I can't even explain but it's really warm and reminds you of wood luxury! LOl why is some people saying that it smells like wood?! Not it does not!
I sniffed the nozzle at David Jones and got a very quick whiff of Soft, sensual, floral wood, just as I had expected from it.
So with my expectations at an even level I think I'm pretty safe to assume that If buy this scent blind I'll at least like it, floral woods are so easy to love.
Well updating that note, I tried it on my skin just for the hell of it and loved it just as much as the original. The only difference I cen tell between the two is that Rocky Mountain has a smoky accord to it, where He Wood was more fresh, even though this scent is fresh too. Still has the same banana-wood smell to it, which I think is a GREAT thing.
Essentially when I go buy it, I'll choose the cheaper option.
I did a blind buy with He Wood Rocky Montain based on many positive reviews I read here.
I found a great deal buying a tester at FragranceNet as jamwires said, but it was a little disappointing.
First of all, Rocky Montain is more flowery than woody in my opinion. Considering it is called "He Wood", I thought the woodsy notes would be more intense, but no, the opening reminds me some kinds of flowers + incense + pepper. Only after the first hour I can smell cedar, but during the drydown another disappointment. I was expecting to find a mineral note (because it's called Rocky Montain), but this mineral note is not present.
The bottle is great (even for a tester without cap), longevity is good (around 6h) and sillage is good too.
Although I was expecting something different from Dsquared with Rocky Montain (I was imagining to smell something like the Canadian forests I saw on Wolverine: Origins), this edt is very good yet. It's lighter and more flowery than I was thinking it would be, but it is a safe choice for any guy.
My final score: 8.0/10.
Wow. This stuff is great. I'm not a huge fan of the rest of the HE WOOD line, but Rocky Mountain is something else...
I got a great deal on a tester at Fragrancenet, but the juice is so good, I kinda wish I had a cap for it! Woody and floral make it sound like nothing new, but it definitely is something unique. Smells like a very clean, fresh, camping trip or something - though I'm not sure that even exists!
Good projection and longevity! It also is refreshing to smell throughout the day. I can wear it all seasons, day and night, no matter what the occasion. It's very sophisticated, rugged, unique, and somehow safe and pleasing to others around me. Masculine too, without smelling like anyone's dad or grandpa.
Excellent. Top 3, maybe even my current favorite.
Well, I waited with great anticipation for this to arrive; I had only read amazing things about it. Here is what I get: Cedar mixed with some kind of floral scent. It's nice but it certainly isn't remarkable. Truthfully, Chrome Visit smells similar and I think it's a lot cheaper. When I am in the mood to smell like cedar, I will reach for this one.
6/10
My girlfriend's erotic idol!
She thinks this is sexiest one. She's right, so wild, so sexy, so natural and so masculine. A nice blast of cucumber and fruit woods appears and plays from initiating till dry down. Its smoky odor comes from incense and I think it must be written which incense; there are lots of incenses. After a while when it reaches second phase, vetiver, not exclusively, presents with incense and pepper.
Although its longevity doesn't satisfy, its scent and perfect projection does. It evokes natural and wild instincts; remind me the great movie: INTO THE WILD.
I suggest it only and only for casual and everyday occasions. If it could present for more, it was the biggest weapon while you live in metropolitans. You can enrich it with its provided shampoo, after shave and other accessories.
longevity 6/10
sillage 10/10
scent 10/10
Great Juice!! Sexy dark Mysterious Alluring. Very outdoor type of cologne. But can also be pretty good in intimate settings. Dsquared knows sexy
After years of searching...so many bad 'blind buys' and not forgetting, hundreds and hundreds of pounds spent on fragrance i think i have finally found 'the one'. Yes,i know that is a big statement for a fragrance addict but this is so beautiful.
I think a more apt name for this would be Zen wood rather than rocky mountain wood because this is calming and gentle in its approach yet is still extremely masculine. This is a scent for a man with nothing to prove to anyone.
to me this combines all the best bits of escentric molecules, Encre noire, Jil Sander Man and grey vetiver. i know i have mentioned two vetiver scents but this is no vetiver monster, rather the effect of taking a shower after wearing one of these scents or vetiver scented baby breath.
Cedar is the big player here or a heavy dose of Iso E super which i happen to love.
It is a light scent that dictates that you take a deep concentrated sniff. This is going to be my new romantic evening scent as it would be impossible to over spray this. The lasting power of this is amazing. Seriously fellow fraganticas do your self a favour and buy this.
I love it! Amazing fragrance for the perfect man. It's absolutely fresh, luxary, sexy, and mysterious. This is the finest aromat in the world!
The mild vetiver that follows the scent until the end is typical. Like that on Kenzo Air, and Paul Smith Story. I can not say they all are identical, because anyone can grade then in a way and put some different note as a plus. But is typical to my nose.
Update (02.28.2011). Since I still don't get anything that could justify for my nose the very flattering reviews below and above, I conclude that I´m not a fan of some kind of vetiver scents, allthough I don't find them bad (e.g. this, Paul Smith Story, Kenzo Air, etc). What the heck! But, no question about it, I'd choose it instead of, let's say, Prada Amber pour Homme (Prada Man).
SUCH a sexy perfume for a man!
I bought this for my boyfriend - his first perfume ever, if you can believe it - and go nuts when he wears it! One of the very few men's fragrances I've found that doesn't give me a headache. Beautiful peppery wood. We've dubbed it 'Japanese Forest' - the fresh green of the vetiver, the smoky intensity of the amber, and of course, all over, that gorgeous cedar.
Beautifully blended and really unique. LOVE!
Rocky Mountain Wood is such a sexy fragrant, I got a bottle for my boyfriend after the first sniff!
This is one of those "come closer' fragrant.. white pepper grabs my attention at first and then the violet gets me even more curious.. in the end I find myself mesmerized by incense, wood and little bit of amber.. pleasant and charming indeed!
I like how it is light, so you get a sniff here and there, contributing to the "tease" factor as well.
It also lasts way longer than the orginal He Wood, 5-8 hours on my skin
While the bottle itself is a work of perfume manufacturers' art, I find it a little hard to wrap my hands around the bottle in order to spray it. It's a fitting metaphor for how much I want to enjoy this scent, but sadly cannot.
Rocky Mountain Wood contains, at its heart, a little of the original He and She woods. The sweet violet core is allowed to make its appearances here and there, but they're completely consumed by the peppery insence and slightly acidic wood accords.
It's definitely the least 'fresh' of the DSQUARED masculines, but that ought to appeal to those who found the rest of the brand's fragrances fleeting at best. If only She Wood had this kind of sexy amplification!
I must admit that I cannot enjoy the scent as much as I'd like. As a former factory worker who processed breaded food, I absolutely cannot stand the pepper note because it conjures up endless chicken strips on a conveyor belt, the flour dusting my nose and invading my clothes and hair hours after I would punch out for the day. But I can see its appeal.
this is serious stuff, especially for DSQUARED.
hola quisiera saber donde lo puedo comprar en linea, igualmente tendra que ser a ciegas, vivo en mexico
Incredible! Uncommon fragrance. A perfect scent on my opinion! Unforgettable!
It's all about pepper! First apply is nothing else but strong pepper and incense, kind harsh for my nose! But it turns more comfortable when the other notes appear, violet, musk and vetiver, and it turns close to skin.
Very sexy and masculine scent, it's the intense version of He Wood! All people around me like it, and so do I.
Good longevity and sillage
Try this! If you have Burberry The Beat and Tom Ford Grey Vetiver, then Dsquared Rocky Mountain Wood scent is attainable by 2 sprays of The Beat + 1 spray of Grey Vetiver.
its so nice and it has a deep smell, its makes me a feel good happy.
OMG,one of the sexiest fragrance i've ever smelled.Last year i wanted to buy sth special for my hus and it sure is.Classy, chic, unique, masculine, unforgetable and my hus believes its so refreshing.Silage&lasting power is perfect.I am so greatful for the scent and so happy i found it.cute bottle though.
Hi.
I am not a huge fan of DSQUARED fragrances but this one is really lovely.
That is one of the scents that i reach for use for a different situation or special occasions.
Is truly classic and woody and different on my collection!
perfect for wear at autumn eveneings. langevity/sillage is good.
8/10
This is the perfect fragrance for me! It's absolutely fresh, luxary, sexy, fine, cool, amazing and the finest aromat in the world!
For the 1st time I buy this fragrance from the Lisbon's airport and from this moment to today - I use it!
Perfumer: Daphe Bugey.
Notes: coriander, aniseed, violet, lily, white pepper, incense, mineral amber, musk, vetiver, virginian cedar.
I loved the abstract aquatic soul of the original "He wood".
This time, "He wood Rocky Mountain" reivents a floral fragrance for men.
Stunning.
"He Wood Rocky Mountain" is a natural spectacle of rare purity.
As its predecesor, it opens with a clean, transparent quality but sharing a similar soul with "KenzoAir": clean airy aniseed.
Woods take pressence; a stunning blend of cedar, aniseed and lilly flower, with touches of violet, incense, some vetiver and a mineral ambery splash.
A outstanding aromatic memory as an essence.
I loved it from the very first whiff. It just smells sexy.
Despiste of the mainly violet-lily accents, is a completely masculine scent that will soon be finding its way into your collection.
You simply can't ignore this scent after you've smelled it once. It's very addictive.
A work of art and class.
Another of my favourite launches of this year.
rocky mountain wood is really wonderful ,
boooorrring!!! I've seen much more great wood fragrances. I tried to understand this fragrance so many times but unfortunately didn't find it as great as other guys here.
guys, mountains do not smell like this fragrance! Neither in Canada nor anywhere else. My understanding of mountains is pure air, a mist of wet soil, coniferous, fresh leaves.
Wow, this is one of my favorite fragrances. To me it is really fresh and woody indeed. It does not change that much on my skin, but it just keep on releasing that fabulous masculine smell for hours. It got an insane longevity on me, 15+ hours, and that is after one spray! This is a woody, masculine, fresh and unique fragrance, with good sillage and excellent longevity. One of the best!
State of art!
Absolutely dark and heavily woody! This is THE WOOD!
Very classic and masculine. Warm, bitter and acrid.
Very strong and impressive.
Longevity and sillage are excellent.
You won’t regret of trying this brilliant cologne.
I don't have it yet,but I think it's perfect!I love ir
Great woody fragrance, not for everyday, has its own identity, great for the collection.
Very masculine, but in a subtle way. Several people commented positively on it without my asking :)
I loved it from the very first whiff, so I got a 100-ml bottle of it and surprisingly, got lots of attention and of course compliments at work. Everybody classified it as "REAL NICE" and those closer to me revealed that it smells really sexy, which I have to agree with.
It is a completely masculine scent that will soon be finding its way into your collection. You simply can't ignore this scent after you've smelled it once. It's very addictive, too.
I surely recommend it to everyone who likes a blend of naughtiness and masculinity.
The packaging is another source of attraction, the box is designed so elegantly and when you open it, you really feel a work of art and class.
I loved it,, when i used it from the first day in office every one is asking me about this nice perfume. I advice any man to go 4 it
Unlike many other fragrances that I've tried, it is actually refreshing to take a complete inhale of this perfume, instead of attacking the senses. Smells exactly as the name implies. An incredibly subtle scent, absolutely perfect for those quiet, rainy days. Very stylish wooden frame might I add. I highly recommend this product.
Very nice perfume and uncommon. Attacks attention and indeed smells like mountains. If you want to smell like mountains when it's rainning or a while after the storm, this perfume is perfect and I enjoy it vey much. A true male masculine perfume.
i like it very much! smells so natural of different woods and incense, of something old but not in a bad way, something alluring. i would try to wear it myself.
