This Wet Garden takes place at Easter, full of early spring flowers after a heavy April rain.
The combinations of flowers, the rain and the rich spring soil comprise this fragrance, one of the most complex in the Demeter Fragrance Library, but one that remains accessible, understandable and wearable.
It is available in 30 and 100 ml bottles, as well as the body care products.
The initial smell of this is just what it says: the smell of a greenhouse after a watering. A wonderful beginning! Unfortunately, it doesn't last. The smell completely changes on the drydown and just becomes a plain, nondescript powdery scent. So disappointing.
WHAT THE????? I love fragrances that are supposed to smell like rain, wet woods, dirt, etc. but on me this was a heavy musk that ended up smelling like Old Spice or some sort of cheap aftershave! Did not smell like wet anything. Apparently a horrible chemical reaction with my skin that resulted in a sneeze-fest.
Luckily, Demeter's Dirt and Dandelion and CB I Hate Perfume's Black March are GREAT and give the feeling of fresh earthiness that this one was unable to provide for me.
Disappointed, but probably not the fault of Wet Garden, just a bad match.
This is the smell of my parents garden in spring after a downpour I love it.
My friends also adore it when I wear it but like so many of demeters perfumes I just wish it had more staying power.
I want it bec. I love the odour of grass & the smell of earth after rain.
I was very curious about Wet Garden. I am actually quite interested in most fragrances from the Demeter Library- most of those that I tried manages to reflect their names quite well.
Wet Garden comes as a complete surprise. Demeter's garden is somewhat wild, green, grassy, hard to tame. Everything here comes in abundance. For me it starts like a bouquet of fragrant gardenia and lily after a rain. There is the soily element, there is ozone, there is an aura of air after the storm.
Wild Garden is however not something I would like to wear. It seems too close to nature? It's hard to explain, but I think it is too much of flowers and too much of ozone, as a scent it is intruguing, but as a fragrance not for me.
The opening truly smells like warm damp earth but it quickly dries down to a generic sweet floral. I've now sprayed it on then washed it off about 5 times because the opening keeps fooling me into thinking I like it. Interesting but fades too quickly into boredom.
This one is definately living up to it's name. A wet garden indeed on an early spring morning, when a busy gardener is turning the cool damp earth upside down, the first greens pushing through the soil accompanied by the very first spring blooms, narcissus and hyacinth.
I really like to smell it in deepest winter evenings when spring and summer seem to be endless far away, it lights the mood and instantly creates that image of a spring garden in my mind, very uplifting.
The lasting power is ok, it's just a cologne, so I didn't expect it to last long, I think 2-3 hours is ok. An unusual scent, to wear for yourself to light up your mood, not to please others, though it is very pleasant.
I get accurate hyacinth with dirt, grass and stems. Dry down goes into a soapy hyacinth, like a French-milled expensive soap. Doesn’t last long, but that onset is gorgeous.
I wasn't sure what I'd think about this but I really wanted to try it. Thanks Sissi for swapping with me! Indeed it is like a wet garden. Stargazer lily, a touch of something verging on damp grass, and a bit of what you garden smells like after a fresh spring rain. There was something familiar about it I couldn't put my finger on until the dry down. The dry down smells very similar to Bond No 9 Fire Island. I definitely like it!
This is an hard frangrance to describe
it smells a cross between Lettuce
from a sandwitch and a the after rain
from a forest it's sweet and it does
get a bit overwhelming at times
this may not be my favorite but
it's unique if someone wants to have
something different from the conventional Perfume
