This is my favorite of all the Poisons, although Pure Poison is a close second. It wears close to my skin and embraces me in warm cherry, vanilla, and almond notes. Definitely one of the most unique scents in my collection, and I agree that it was way ahead of its time.

It is best in the winter, as others have said, and I can see how some may smell root beer. I actually hate root beer and the smell of it. However, root beer smells synthetic and cheap to me. Hypnotic Poison does not. That's the only way I know to explain it. I love it! :)

I will never get tired of this warm and seductive scent! I find the vanilla and almond combination extremely alluring, especially in cold weather. "Hypnotic" is the perfect name for this gorgeous velvety fragrance!

This is very nice perfume, my kind of perfume – sweet, a bit spicy, warm, and sexy. It reminds of Kenzo Amour.

This one dries down rapidly to vanilla/sandalwood on me. There is very little progression from start to finish. It's nice and will work for many people, but it has so little variation and depth that it is, in the end, uninteresting.

This scent is as proud, sweet vanilla dessert, so thick, that it is possible to cut it knife and ...eat. It's also very sweet, sensual aroma, with wonderful sound accent of bitter almond. It is literal, strong, but, when is cold and grey, it warm and correct mood. In priciple, it is not my type, but now I have big appetite for this sensational dessert, for very sweet poison, for mass sweet wanilla, for Hypnotic Poison.

I have noticed the play-doh note, but it does fade in the dry down. It is a unique scent for someone looking for something different. I like it, am just getting to know it, and was very suprised that it is a poison "cousin". I wore the original Poison in the 90's and don't smell much in common with Hypnotic... It is an unusual scent that should be tried on the skin before buying, I would give it 3 and 1/2 stars.

Funny... this fragrance to me is just "dusty". It smells like old books and antique furniture, embroidered with vanilla and some cigarette smoke. Although it is not unpleasant, I wouldn't use it as MY fragrance, because of my age and temperament.
The only one Poison I am up for is Pure Poison.

For me I have to be in the mood for this one. Guys seem to love this one almost as much as Coco Madamoiselle(sp?) I didnt love it at first but it grew on me and now is one of my special perfumes. Warm peppery and lots of vanilla. A little goes a long way!

Hypnotic poison i a bit difficult to understand. I loved the eccentric scent in the store, but at home I don't really get it to work on my skin. I think it's the bitter almond together with the vanilla that makes it smell a bit like a common Swedish icecream with liquorice-vanilla taste. At least it makes me think about that. In general I don't like fragrances that reminds me of food and this is no exception from that. On the contrary - I usually like vanilla, musk, almond and jasmine. Thats what confuses me. Anyway, maybe Im just used to wear floral fragrances and I have to give this pretty bottle a fair chance. Lets wait for the drydown and see what happens. Seems to be longlasting though... but in my case I'm not sure if that is a good or bad thing.

However this isnt for anyone looking for a fresh clean scent
The warm vanilla notes with musk and hint of rose notes sits well on most skin and has excellent staying power.

I do agree with some about the root beer note but is root beer necessarily bad? On me, I get the root beer float that Maryel didn't get so that's to show you that what doesn't work for one might work for the other. I totally get the root beer vanilla, caramel, ice cream spice. I strongly recommend you try this first before you buy it. This fragrance is extremely sweet with a touch of spice which smells a little like root beer. It's definitely different and not your typical "sweet" fragrance, I think it has character. A lot of times I buy perfumes online without trying them first and usually everything has turned out great.

I had tried this perfume and thought I didn't like it but it grew on me and now we've become friends :) So far the only fragrance that I purchased online without trying first and didn't like at all was Estee Lauders Beyond Paradise, ewww I still get chills just thinking about that awful smell.

*shaking head* It's obvious this is going to be one of those "I don't get it" types of fragrances for me. I tried it at Sephora and perhaps I used too much, but all I get from it is: root beer. Very strong & sweet root beer. Not a root beer float with yummy vanilla ice cream... just root beer. I'll attempt it again some other day, but for those who are curious to try it, I must warn you... spray only a tiny amount onto your skin otherwise you may be overwhelmed.

This fragrance is way to strong for me gives me a headache but i think its 2nice 2 give it a miss so i wear the very luxurous body lotion...my husband thinks its v sexy!

Though I liked it, there was a weird note in it that bothered me.Now I know what it is, thanks to Woogyjones50 - play dough! I smelled my son`s play dough - there it is.I wore it mostly at home,trying to make friends with it.

Another one of the Poisons that I am crazy about. What a strange and wonderful little perfume! I totally get a Play-doh (sp?) note from this and have even had people say they smell play-doh when I'm wearing this. I don't fess up that it's me but I like the way this perfume is playful and different. Warm, kind of kooky, sweet, oddly sexy. How many perfumes can say that? I think this is nice for a person who doesn't take themselves too seriously and can enjoy an eccentric fragrance for what it is and feel great about it. I select a perfume to wear because I enjoy wearing it and this is one that, for me, is great fun to wear.I love it.

I've been trying this perfume off and on for about a year, hoping to like it, but all I was getting was root beer, nothing else. However, something about it always intrigued me, and I was hoping one day it would click...

Well, that day came a couple of weeks ago. I was with a male friend, spritzed on HP while shopping, and he could not stop sniffing me. He said it was like a drug to him that "tingled the back of his neck". I also got several more compliments from men, so I thought - hmm. Well, later that night, I caught a whiff of something incredibly sexy, then realized it was the Hypnotic Poison. It had blended so well with my skin, that it just became a part of me, rather than an obvious "perfume" smell. Immediately went online, found a bottle at a great price, and can't wait to wear it!

A mystical fragrance, sensual, intense and really appealing.
The probe for the first time a few months ago and since then I can not stop thinking about having it with me.
Sometimes I think about not buy it because it could be a very strong smell, but it's so delicious that was soon to the purchases, besides its low notes are more soft and sensual, very very sexy.
But I do not wear in a big party, but only to be sexy and attract someone.
I think there are fragrances much more sophisticated than a party to this, this is rather a hypnotic fragrance to seduce.

At first,it can be too strong and sweet,but after, when it calms down on skin it's beautiful.Smells like vanilla cookies with almond,makes me to take a hot cappuccino.A great fragrance,so warm,ideal for winter days.Wouldn't recomande it to women who don't like to smell like cookies.

The right word is hypnotic!There is A LOT of vanilla in this perfume-perfect for the winter.It's very long-lasting and a bit too strong for me but if I spray once it's OK.Hypnotic poison is a wonderful perfume for cold days and evenings,but it's not for every day.

I think that this fragrance is highly over rated.
It is not sexy or sophisticated.
It smells just like the hard rootbeer candy my grandmother used to keep in the candy jar.

If foody fragrances are you thing, then you may be in for a treat.

I love this perfume - it's one of my favourite Fall/Winter scents.... At first, this smells like caramels and spruce beer (does anyone remember that stuff?) to me -and, strange as it seems, I love that combo. It's too heavy for humid summer weather, I find. Maybe that's why some people feel nauseated when they first put it on? One trick to try for those who love the mid and base notes, but feel sickened by the top notes: try spraying it on the inside of your blouse or shirt before taking your shower - spritz and run! (be sure not to spray it too close to the fabric because if it's white, you could end up with a stain)Then, by the time you're done with your shower and taking care of the hair, it should be less overpowering to you.

I read so much about Hypnotic Poison that I had to try it. When testing, I over applied & then wrote it off thinking it was awful. A few months later I saw HP at a really good price that I decided to try again. I'm glad I did as I now love it!

Hypnotic Poison is sweet, mysterious, warm, enveloping & sexy at the same time. It's a vanilla almond fragrance that is perfect for cool Winter days.

The Bitter Almond gives it an "edge" which I guess puts some people off, whilst luring others. It wears well, softening as the day goes on.

Make sure you experiment with small amounts first. I find the Dior 'Poison' range of bottles perfect as you have complete control over how much you spray. The nozzle will do a small drip, or a full spray. I use a small drizzle from each wrist to inside of the elbow.

Once you find the right amount for you, you will love it.

This scent contains warm elements that I like, but unfortunately, when it is first applied, it makes me feel quite ill in the stomach! When it settles it is lovely, but I definitely won't purchase this one. There is one other perfume that brings out exactly the same nausea reaction in me.....Drakkar Noir!

I could roll in this stuff for days! On my skin, it smells like a rootbeer float made with real vanilla bean ice cream, at first spritz. Then after a hour or two, I can smell something a little bit masculine in it, and then sometimes I get a whiff of Play-Doh. It smells good on paper too, although it smells more like cedarwood and sandalwood mixed with vanilla bean.

I wear this scent every day, either by itself, or as a base under another perfume. It provides a warm and captivating scent with strong elements of vanilla, musk and almond.

It is a powerful and long-lasting scent, wrapped in a wonderfully tempting apple-like bottle.

I would recommend actually trying this scent on the skin, as it certainly does not suit everybody!
