Le Bateleur, "The Magician." Nothing magic about this scent... although it's not horrible either. D&G could have done a great aquatic if they really wanted to... though I don't think that was the idea. I suppose making an aquatic fragrance that has a universal effect is a difficult thing to do. Clearly this is masculine.

I don't want to upset anybody, but this is a fragrance for men. As it is written on the official site:
"Provocative and playful - ragingly passionate, yet enviably cool - this is a man who gets what he wants..."
And it clearly can be seen in the advertisements which perfume belongs to which gender. Only the D&G 10 scent is unisex... 3 and 18 are for women, 1 and 6 are for men.

I spray light blue on first and the le bateleur, it mixes really well and adds a more citrusy feminine smell to #1.

D&G LE BATELEUR is a unisex fragrance that lies more at the masculine than the feminine end of the spectrum, featuring primarily vetiver and smelling very similar to run-of-the-mill aftershave, except that it's more subtle and evanescent.

LE BATELEUR seems to open with a bit of juniper or some other spicy element not listed, but this swiftly evaporates, giving way to a somewhat nondescript masculine vetiver/aromatic scent. LE BATELEUR is a light, perfectly likeable choice for summertime.

While LB is certainly wearable by both men and women, it does seem more geared toward the former, and it doesn't offer anything new to my nose, so I probably won't replenish my small supply (20ml edt) once it has been depleted.

I bought D&G 1 yesterday. Tested it against #6. I had no idea #1 had such a unisex appeal- seriously I was looking for something feminine yet uncommon.
On me (after dry-down) it smells more like citrus until you get nose to skin then is has the more "exotic notes". But what can I say, almost all perfume smells like baby powder on me! Thats what happened with the #6 after 10 minutes.
Anybody have any suggestions?

As soon as I got a whiff of Bateleur 1, I knew I wanted my man to smell like this. It is much more masculine than feminine to me. It's not tough-guy overbearing masculine. It is fresh and sexy.
I know my boyfriend wont wear it, but I will, because it is so gorgeous. I am willing to smell a bit masculine because I love this fragrance so much.

Very nice unisex. I liked it on me, but when I smelled it on my husband, I insisted he use it all the time. Wonderful.

Since Bateleur means street performer or juggler I imagined a spicy smell, maybe oriental or woody but definitely rusty, rough, benzoin or leather notes in combination.

D&G packed ordinary, casual, find it around every corner perfume. Smells like entrance in the church on weak bitter smell (guess vetiver) and holly water. Lasting time of this solution is s.h.o.r.t. Read it again: e.x.t.r.a. short. Made me extra p****.

Look further. There are great men perfumes on the market.

It's nice, it's very nice, fresh and suitable for men but... vanishes almost totally in about 90 or 120 minutes. Think carefully before buying it, there are better options.

I made a small research about this fragrance because I cannot decide if it's suitable for a man, woman or it's unisex.
I wore it for a few days and I like it a lot (and nobody complained about it).
The start it's quite hard for a woman but at the dry-down it's soft. I would definitely like to smell it on my boyfriend but I like it on me too.

i dont like this perfume. from the start, until dry-down.. it smells like aerosol...

The most masculine of all the collection. I like it, the aquatic aura is there but there is definite touch of woods. I haven't sprayed it on my BF yet so I still have to smell it on a man. it may be too light for a night out but it seems like a great office/daily scent for a guy.

Before I even talk about the actual fragrance I want to talk about the bottle. Really? D&G? Ok, now I'm all about "It's the fragrance inside that counts, not the bottle..." but damm. It's a really ugly bottle! Lol! But whatever. Using a plain sticker for the name? C'mon...

"You get what you pay for" is one of my favorite sayings. And it applies to D&G #1 but not in a bad way. For it to be $65 retail, the ingredients are good quality but it is not potent like your usual fragrance. It's really light. Maybe it's suppose to be? I don't know. I'm a little confused on this huge 5 fragrance launch anyways.

The watery notes combined with the vetiver and cedar is quite nice. I wasn't very fond of it initially but you must always give a fragrance their time. I didn't like any of my personal top 5 fragrances at first but I gave them all that second chance.

As it dries down it reminded me of D&G's Light Blue for men without the heavy musk/incense aroma or the opening of Givenchy's Blue Label, which I liked. As it completely dried down it smells identical to Versace's Man Eau Fraiche but not as sweet, complex or in depth.

As far as the lasting power it's mediocre. Projection could be better and it stays very close to the skin.

It's definately worth getting. I'm getting it for sure in the near future. I'm falling in love with the olfactive group woody aquatics and D&G #1 is a great addition. I have to say it again, the bottle is ugly! Gah damm! :p

decided to buy this one and i am not disappointed. this is the most masculine of all my fragrances but i like it. it is very light, fresh, and aquatic which makes it perfect for hot weather.

Very aquatic citrus smell. It reminds me of IZOD. I sprayed this on my arm and it very light and stays close to the skin. This would be great on a vacation somewhere hot.

I like the fragrance concept but I think the perfume isn't good enough. It could have been a very good one with a more prominet vetiver base and a longlasting juniper note. The acuatic heart only rise up our spirits at the very begining but then, everything becomes dark and dull in a woody-aromatic extra old accord. Easy to wear but definetely boring.

This is gorgeous! I like this one the best out of the 5. It's definately one of the more masculine ones from the collection, I dunno if this would smell like on a female. It's a lovely aquatic, watery, juicy kind of fragrance. It kinda reminds me a little of cliniqe happy only a little less fruity and more woody and im definately getting the vetiver note. Delicious and very sexy.
