The One by Dolce&Gabbana
For: women Designer: Dolce&Gabbana Olfactive Group: Oriental FloralThe composition opens with softly fresh mandarin, bergamot, litchi and peach. The heart is thin and balmy, with the notes of jasmine, lily of the valley and white lily which graciously intertwine with the fruity touch of plum. The woodsy-powdery base is created of vetiver root, amber, musk and vanilla. The One was created in 2006.
The One Fragrance Reviews:
add reviewbut when she stopped wearing it one day
she had a way too vanila smell on her
and it was the one again!
that time it made me sick somehow

The vanilla in The One's dry down is heavy and sweet. It's not a boozy vanilla note, but rather it's more like vanilla cake, or even vanilla frosting-ish, than a vanilla extract scent. On my skin, the lily notes play faintly in the background in the dry down, and I smell the musk too, which adds depth to the scent.
The One is a comforting scent, but only when applied sparingly. More than just one light spray makes The One overwhelming, headache-inducing, and can even make me nauseous. But with a delicate application, it's a comforting Oriental Vanilla.
This perfume is definitely for night and cool weather wear. It's far too heavy and rich for the office, or for wear in the summer heat.

I decided to give it another chance because I couldn't really believe that such a volatile perfume could be so suffocating.
Once again I get a vague scent of vanilla and citrus. Very nice and "cosy". Something to wear in front of the fireplace on a cold day with the one you love.
In very very small doses I find it quite delicate. But be careful, as it can become queasy instead.

THE ONE does not stand out to my nose as novel or daring, but given their choice of face, Gisele Bundchen (a former Victoria's Secret model), D&G was probably aiming for VS types, who like nice things but are not usually revolutionaries!
THE ONE is a tasteful blend that is entirely pleasing to wear and inoffensive to those in the environs, as the sillage is rather weak. Anyone who likes fine vanilla scents would appreciate THE ONE, but THE ONE is not unique.

Lasts a long time and projects fairly well.
I wear it on special occasions.

The opening although pretty fruits, is a little too much like sticky candies overloaded with sugar. Due to this sweetness I would say that The One is a relatively young and flirtatious scent, not something to be taken seriously.
The One does mellow into a warm and pleasant oriental floral, however I can't say that I was blown over backwards by its uniqueness. The jasmine, lily and plum are pretty and certainly wearable, the most pleasant aspect of this fragrance so far.
The drydown isn't bad either, the vanilla brings back an element of syrupy sweetness which made me cringe at first but it was no where near as bad as I thought it would be. I'll give credit to this fragrance for its excellent sillage and lasting power and its sensuality and creaminess. It is unfortunate that the scent doesn't appeal to my nose.

the fragrance itself is very refined, ladylike and creamy. but imo it does not represent a soft and gentle kind of feminity but a strong confident one.
everytime i try to sniff its scent on my skin i am not able to catch any of the notes, but it is the sillage i can smell very explicitly. the one seems like an fragrant aura.
not too extraordinary but very beautifully done - you can´t go wrong with it.

I have smelled it on other people and I noticed that on one person it smelled overly floral, while on another person it actually smelled metallic - which was very off-putting!

The One is sweet but not heavy or heady, it is long-lasting, substancial yet light & almost transparent, hovering above the skin, blessing your nose with sensual butterfly kisses. The notes I instantly detect are peach, lily, vetiver & vanilla. I am aware of a deeper warmer fruitiness after half an hour (a very light plum) & the last gasps are of a buttery amber.
The blending is quietly masterful - all the corners have been rounded off & sanded down so that you are left with a smooth, velvety scent that is ultra-creamy with one of the nicest, quietest vanilla bases I have sampled. The One reminds me a little of the original Burberry for women - & perhaps a lighter, young & fruity, lithe cousin of Lalique le parfum.
The best thing about The One is how well it matches every occasion. It is a cashmere jumper over your dog-walking jeans, kid leather gloves to finish off your work suit, a fine silk chiffon stole over your ball dress, a feather stroke over your naked body.
There will never be only "One" for me, but it is straight onto my 'must have' list. If you want sophisticated, warm & creamy, this is it.

First off, the paper sample does not give this perfume justice! Its like reading the first and last page of a book and having no idea of the true contents inside. Once this touches skin it bursts with juicy, mouth watering fruits and endless depth. It really is "golden". That is just not found on a paper strip!
I'll tell you what I smell and it may be odd.. I smell bananas, plums, creamy vanilla, marshmallows, lilies and the most gorgeous golden amber. Despite what I smell it manages to refrain from the overly sweet "gourmand" category. The One is romantic, soothing, breezy, warm, tender and elegant..
The One caresses the skin like a loving delicate hug. Just when I think its gone I get wafts of smell seeping through my sweater like a heavenly cloud following me around. I'm like "mmmm where is that great smell coming from" and I realize its me! I find the silage and lasting power to be perfect. I love how it melts into the skin like a warm blanket. The name "The One" fits perfectly. It wears with YOU!

everytime i wear this fragrance i get a boost of confidence cause i know i smell wonderful.
i started wearing less than a month ago and it has already become my signature scent replacing organza by givenchy (which i love but can no longer wear because it (organza) triggers painful memories).
I got such a headache from it!
Also.. This is a really common scnet.I smell it everywhere when I'm downtown .. And I must admit that I have such bad experience with this perfume, that if I smell it now, I get bloody sick! :(

Serenity comes with vanilla whiff, bringing indulgent murmur to the user.
The One is wearable, modern and sexy scent. Strength is average and long lasting, provides pleasant fragrance without enforcing itself to others.
For my taste is a bit to sweet, and vanilla shaded.
But, as I hear people love him. Why? Has a metropolis aura.

I love the bottle, too - it is nice and heavy, reminds me of a bottles with expensive cognac.

Notes consisting of mandarin, peach, bergamot, lychee, jasmine, muguet, madonna lily, vanilla, amber, musk, vetiver, and plum.

Nothing very interesting, at least on my skin. Although I would wear it occassionally with casual mood.

I was in the perfume shop and as you know after testing a few perfumes your nose can't distinguish between fragrances.they all seem to be the same.but when I smelled this one ,the strong warm notes took me and I told myself,I love this one absolutely!the surprising point is that I'm not into oriental scents at all!warm and powdery, ageless and luxe is how I can describe it.I don't suggest it for casual or summer and spring use.but it's great for a huge ceremony in the cold weather or even christmas time.As the gold bottle inspires,it's a luxury stuff.in fact the only reason I didn't buy it,was the price.

A good scent for a special occasion or night wear, its has good staying power and syllage.
It makes me feels somewhat sofisticated and sexy, kind like wearing daring lingerie under a formal demure dress. It empowers you.

It is very nice and I am enjoying wearing it.

And as I see it is not only me to whom 'The One' brings back some childhood memories :)
Despite some sweetness this is a light fragrance, and hardly can be over sprayed

The fragrance itself I found attractive. It is fruity and floral at the beginning (I can detect peach, mandarin and jasmine...), fresh and light - until it dries down - when it becomes more oriental, with the vanilla taking hold and a bit of honey. I could swear there's a bitter note there also, (but I think I might just be mistaking it for one of the oriental notes...)
The bottle is gorgeous - gold, rectangular and heavy glass. The fragrance smells like it's got a pinch of gold in there somewhere! And it smells kinda special, like "the one".
