"He who controls the spice, controls the universe." Such were the words uttered by the main character of the movie Dune based on the Frank Herbert science fiction epic of the same name. In the story, the spice was the lifeblood of a vast empire. For the leaders of this empire, it was essential that at all times "the spice must flow." Duke Leto Atreides notes that of every valuable commodity known to mankind, "all fades before melange." Notes: Sandalwood, Benzoin, Patchouli, Tincture of Coffee Beans, White Lotus, Clove, Ginger Lily, Litsea Cubea, Nutmeg. Perfumer: Amanda Feeley. Melange Botanical Perfume was launched in 2010.

Tigerlillian

This wears quite strange on me. At first, my skin picks up a lot of litsea cubeba which is like a dark grassy lemony lime scent, like citronella. Then it takes at least half an hour for anything else to surface.

A very faint whiff of wood and nutmeg perhaps, then a little ginger--no lillies. Next, a little resiny benzoin that lends a drop of sweetness.

Finally, sandalwood with a touch of coffee make a long awaited appearance, and lastly a little softened clove--rather discordant and disorderly with still a lot of that citronella vibe going on.

I really don't understand this at all and think it's a concept fragrance that tried to be too many things at once. Or perhaps Melange lives up to its name if the intention was to be incongruous.

This is a romantic aroma. Make-love-to-me-under-the-stars-on-the-beach perfume. You just want to keep smelling, and smelling and smelling. Consistently charming. :)
