Beyond Paradise (for women)
Designer: Estee Lauder Olfactive Group: Floral"The scent transports you to a perfect world of optimism and wonder. Unfolds on your skin with a fascinating blend of tropical wetness, zesty freshness and bursting floralcy".
The composition includes a lot of exotic flowers (this is so typical for Estee Lauder, who loved flowers), rare fruits and woods. EL discovered and used exotic flowers which were unknown to perfumery through a partnership with the Eden project, the largest botanical conservatory in Europe (Scotland).
The fragrance opens with Eden mist which gives a long lasting tropical wet effect, rare flowers (orange blossom and blue hyacinth) and fruits (Jaboticaba berry). The floral heart is a burst of exotic flowers: laelia orchid, pink honeysuckle, Japanese mahonia. The base is no less exotic, consists of Natal plum blossom, golden melaleuca, zebrano wood, ambrette seed.
The perfume was created by Calice Becker 2003.

I thought it would be different, because it smelled from bottle like a bud of exotic notes that awaits to unfold. At first it was like something weird. It reminded me some old fashioned perfume, but I could take it, I was waiting for it to develop. I think the top phase is the one that scares away most people from it, then... after hopes so high, 30 minutes later I smelled almost the Pure White Linen on my skin only this to be a little more exotic, but not that much to be different. I think Estee Lauder perfumes I tried all smell very alike, like they have the same 'core', like their signature. But this one is not for me, it's too safe in my opinion. I can tell it smells like a bit syrupy sweet florals with fresh ripped woods (it's more like green bark). Projection and staying power is good. Bottle pretty too, I like the gradient color of it.

I think it was created with good intent and a lot of hard work, but the final result was a little dissapointing. I feel sorry for them, having discovered/used all these thousands of rare fruits and flowers from the Eden project, and all the trouble they went to trying to create "the perfect blend". Just goes to show that hard work doesn't always pay off.
I get the flowers and fruits, but they aren't balanced right. The notes are not distinct enough and the scents run into each other. It makes a rather muddy rainbow, than the perfect rainbow shown on the bottle. I'm sorry Estee Lauder!

It indeed has personality and is different to the faint flowery perfumes on the market. It smells like a bunch of flowers, mud, rain, green leaves and rotten fruits. Strange but nice!

weeeel, its not THAT bad after all, but actually I'm planning to stash it away, and wait, when it would become extinct rarity:)))
I don't get anything rotten there, some flowers, nothing more

Where is the lemon? Where is the gardenia, the jasmine? Those are beautiful fragrance scent notes to be used, and all I could smell on me was plastic or even burning rubber…
At first, it tricked me well, but when I saw the reactions of my friends, it finally make me realize that this fragrance was definitively not for me!
Is this supposed to remind us of paradise? Because for me, it certainly reminds me of how to get to… The road of smelling hell! (LOL)
I tried it and I have to say that the dry down isnt bad..but it is still a very strong scent, a mix of ocean scents and tropical flowers, it reminds me of a famous sunscreen we had in france in the seventies....not for me!

After reading over the comments here, it seems to me like this one is either a love-it-or-hate-it scent. I'm in the Hate It camp. It's too syrupy for me. Luca Turin (Perfumes: The Guide) can go on all he likes about abstract florals and how difficult they are to achieve, but this smells like mashed flowers, fruit pulp, and sugar on me. Bleah.

I'm not sure if it will become one of my absolute faves, but adding to me liking it is the fact that my man walked in the door the day I was testing it and said straight away, "What's that?!" in a good way. I proffered my arm to him and he said, "That's it! MMmmmm, I like that." That always gets a star in my book!

However, to me, it smells like a bunch of flower led by jasmine. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it.
Unfortunately, all my colleagues gave me compliments every time I wear it. The men said it was sexy, the women heavenly.
I liked it right away so I am so surprised to hear it smells unpleasant to some people.

I really didn't think I would ever say this about a perfume but I hate this one so much that I had to wash my wrist and still after that I could smell the disgusting dead flower smell! And for all of you that wear this and get asked "what you're wearing?" don't immediately think "oh, they must love it" No, I think it's because they want to know what it is so they'll put it on their DO NOT GET THIS EVER FOR YOUR COLLECTION LIST.

Can't stand it - smells like funeral.

Body lotion is really lasting and smell very intense...
But to me, this perfume could be stifling, harsh, unpleasant... disgusting... Im dislike that¡ so much
However, it's could be nice for fresh and breeze days... to anybody else

I enjoy exotics & spicy perfumes ,
and florals too. It has a complicated layer of florals, but, combines into one BIG smell . It is a very 'pure flower'" scent, too. It is very strong, and it has good lasting power. I see that it has Jaboticaba wich is from Brazil, where I live. :) It is very strong, lasts a long time, and in this way is typical of EL perfumes.

Due to so many people into Estee Lauder perfumes, I kept trying them because I really wanted to like them too, but that wasn't possible. And this one totally ended my hope of liking Estee perfumes.

I imagine on some people it would smell great. Overall, just make sure you sample a day before buying it. I really think this will turn off most loyal Estee Lauder clientle. Especially if you are a fan of Estee's original more European sophisicated scents
