Youth-Dew Amber Nude (for women)

I so wanted to like this since I'm into amber scents and it sounded so interesting. It's not. It's incredibly musty and incensey, very strong and aggressive at the beginning, then it fades a little bit, but it has great lasting power and it's not easy to scrub it off. It must be a matter of chemistry... on my skin it becomes the exact smell of Catholic churches I was taken to as a child. It's the same acrid, suffocating smell that covers everything. Maybe good for a mystical experience, not as a personal scent. This kind of fragrance is often addressed at mature or old women, but this would be just the jam on top of the (old) cake. Maybe better on a young extravagant lady.

I wish I would have purchased this when I first sniffed it maybe two years ago. Of course, I only have a warm memory of what it was like now - my impression, though, was that it was a smooooth version or the original. Amber nude, the single malt version of the original. To me, the original is like getting a slap in the face from an old lady's heavily scented leather glove. Rich, yes. But oh so old and crotchety. Back to Amber Nude... Apparently, it's been discontinued because it was a Tom Ford creation and since he is no longer with Estee Lauder, neither is the fragrance. (This was told to me by the Estee Lauder representative in Montreal) You would think that an established line like Estee Lauder would've protected the rights to the fragrance should he leave, but it seems not.

Maybe if our dollar picks up enough (wishful thinking!), I might just buy one online and hope that my memory serves me well. Anyway, if any of you are in love with this, buy it while you can.

In the opening, this Lady is extremely sweet and somewhat seductive. Reminiscent of her predecessor but sweeter and dryer with less spice. Unfortunately, the drydown becomes a little insecticide-ish. I believe a little more spice with the Jasmine and Ylang Ylang would work better with my chemistry.

I dont like to generalise, but this one is for mature women, not mature as in "old", but those who feel mature because they have grown to be their own people, who know exactly what they want and how they want it (if you know what i mean) :P
The bottle is very attractive, simple, elegant and posh! It has a little ambery stone on the top. The fragrance is as sexy as the bottle, i dare to say very erotic, its spicy and spices always make me feel erotic and perverted.
If you like cognac and incense, and you need a long lasting fragrance, this is your thing! it really feels as if i accidentaly spilled a bit of cognac on myself :) I cant quite decide which one i like more.. i think the the classic Youth Dew is a bit more me, but this one is different, in a good way of course. It kept that original distinguished Youth Dew note and has a very sharp amber, i would not say warming or cold, its simply something in between, sharp one and as the time of the year for wearing this one, I would definately recommend summer nights and autumn, in winter the cold air chokes it, and on a summer day its eaten by all that heat, it could easily make you feel nauseated. In autumn it can bring to life the view of fallen leaves and the wind that brings those last summer scents.. thats why I would recommend it for summer nights, when the heat settles down, and all the fresh air starts flowing, you can smell all the grasses, leaves even.. there Amber Nude fits, as a part of that moment.

This is a sexy scent but I bit strong like her sister fragrance Youth Dew. I was curious and got a small size,it's not bad but apply sparingly

This is a wonderful fragrance for the winter.Its has a lovely amber dry down which isnt heavy or sickening .I can detect hints of ginger and cinanmon which gives it, a sweet smell but in a nice way.
THIS IS A WONDERFUL ALTERNATIVE TO THE ORIGINAL YOUTH DEW WHICH WAS A LOT DEEPER AND HEAVIER.

Very strong when you spray it, but it settles very fast (about 3 hours) to quite boring base. Middle notes are beautiful, but not my style. Actually, the best thing about this scent is how it balances between old-fashioned and modern, creating kinky retro mood. Bottle is a masterpiece and goes very well with the scent.

Is it being discontinued? Cause I tried to look for it in the shops and I was told every time that they are not selling it anymore and it is discontinued?

A very strong perfume, spray on carefully, use sparingly. I see no improvement on the original Youth Dew, so I rathet stick to the old version.
The new one reminds me of the smell in a Belgian truffle shop mixed with a rancid version of Opium. Applied in small doses, however, it can be a good smell for very intimate encounters.

I am trying this one again today. Yesterday I sprayed on me too much.. I believe 2 sprays on the wrists is going to be more than enough for me :-D It is an intense perfume.
Yesterday I was about to regret on purchasing it cause it was slightly taking my breath.. I sprayed twice on my neck and each wrists. Today I put it only on my wrists and it smells perfect amber & chocolate :-) Dont overdo it if you want to like it! My kind advice.

I've got a bottle of it today :) I must admit that I find similarities between this one and Tom Ford The Private Collection Amber Absolute! :) And that is a good news for me as I loved Amber Absolute. I can feel incense in a perfume though the description says that there is no incense. Lasting power is good and I will enjoy wearing this perfume at the cold winter days.

is it only me, or is it very similar to Opium? I couldn't tell the difference. I tried it today, the colour suggested that I should apply sparsely and I did, but all the way home I felt uneasy, my stomach didn't like this scent. I do. In spite of its intense quality I like the classiness.

Firstly, I am glad that Tom Ford kept this version of Youth Dew very similar, yet distinctly different to its original namesake. Before trying Amber Nude I had imagined something vastly 'teeny bop' & not sophisicated.
Youth Dew Amber Nude is very sexy and sensual, but still demure and classy. In my opinion, Amber Nude is just a bit lighter with maybe a bit more of a citrus undertone than the original. That combined with the black rose & truffle really turns this into a lusty brew that I cannot stop indulging in! I have noticed that this smells better when applied on the crook of the arm. Delicious! Also, just two sprays last for around 4 hours on me. Amber Nude really is mood heightening. Very sexy. Very underated fragrance IMO, very much bottle-worthy!

Same as zoka, I would call this one "comforting", it's so warm, spicy and ambery.I fancy old-fashioned fumes and this one is my cup of tea!
