The English company Yardley created this fragrance back in 1982. Nowadays, Lace brand belongs to the company Fine Fragrances & Cosmetics Ltd, which owns several perfume and cosmetic brands (among them is Yardley and its White Satin and Lace). Lace is a feminine fragrance with aldehydes at the top, rose in the heart and wood and oakmoss at the base. Dominique Ropion is the nose behind it.
Wow this was a find! £4 on EBay, I looked it up here and saw the magic name, Dominique Ropion! Well had to be worth a punt for that alone.
I wasn't disappointed! This has some guts but still falls into the ultra feminine category, if you like a predominantly, white floral perfume, then I don’t think this will fail. Lace isn't wishy-washy as many in this price bracket are, it has a decent longevity and dry down is soft. I don't profess to be able to indentify DR's work but I know when I smell something good, even if the price and name is hiding it. This perfume may have been from DR’s early days but his talent still shines through.
This one is hiding in the cheap bin ladies and it’s obviously still getting under the radar, if you like your perfume to have oomph, staying power and a little touch of skank (don't know where that note comes from but it's there) then this is a brilliant buy, it really is good. The bottle isn’t wonderful typically plain and boring but for the price I can live with that. I usually end up paying a fortune for something not half as good quality as this so I'm very pleased. If you get the chance grab yourself a bargain, a lovely perfume for a great price :-))
I have worn this for years as the old "can't make up my mind what to wear today" standard. My hubby bought it for me every Xmas and birthday. Had no idea it was designed by such a distinguished parfumier. How to describe it? Not cloyingly sweet but prettily feminine. No screaming ingredients. Dries down to powdery and lasts a full working day on my skin (very rare). Also quite inexpensive, you can pick it up at most good chemists here in Australia for well under $20. Steer clear of the Parises, Hilaries, JLos, Britneys, etc. etc. and buy something with a bit of class, eh?
this is a lovely, simple, romantic and nostalgic scent firmly entrenched in the early 80's with its obsession with romanticism and nature. I like it when I'm not sure what to wear and I don't feel like making a statement. Sometimes some nice, cheap, soapy flowers hit the spot - and it's by Dominique Ropion! What have you got to lose?
.....really????? I thought this was an oriental fragrance. Maybe it's different from Lace by Yardle! I may be confused........
i tryed one and dont like it much
im not keen on the oakmoss in this perfume.
the perfume almost smells like old ladys
