L`Humaniste Fragrance Reviews

Recently I was looking forward to try this perfume on. It seemed to be something different than usual cologne. And finally I got a decant. What can I say - it's realy an exquisite piece of work!
Although opening was a bit bland for me (well, usual lemon and pepper thing), what I experienced next was great. Cold and transparent feeling, both suitable to be described as ice in winter or ice in your summer cocktail, creamy juniper aroma, all brought up with strong boozy power. Fierceness and flame! Even pepper was not agressive - plus for me.
Overall, I find this perfume joyful, pleasant, high quality and definitely not boring. It‘s a lovely cologne for unique personalities. It‘s suitable for all seasons and occasions. Definitely could be someone‘s signature scent. And you don‘t have to be a man to wear this. For me it looks even better for woman to wear it.

This was the one scent from Frapin I really had high hopes for. The opening was amazing, but the drydown was somewhat of a disappointment. The smell was familar, but I wasnt quite sure what it was. I had to ask my GF what she thought of this scent, "smells like being in a Abercrombie and Fitch store". So this has some striking resemblence to AF Fierce, but not as rich and well blended like L`Humaniste. Not to discredit this wonderful fragrance, I thought this was far better than 1270 and is definity my favorite scent from the house of Frapin.

Frapin really does a great job with alcoholic drinks notes, whether it's rum, cognac or something other. This time it's about gin. And, as I prefer gin over any other spirit, I was looking forward to this one as soon as I saw the notes and reviews.
The first thing that comes in mind is the quality of ingredients. OK, you have a million fragrances opening with pepper and lemon, but in only a few you can smell a lemon as fresh and juicy as in Humaniste. Later, the gin accord is not made by a simple alcoholic smell with a juniper berry or two just to make it look similar. This thing smells very close to Bombay Sapphire Dry Gin, with the spices and lemon that's still in the mix. An added bonus of juniper berries only makes it more aromatic and herbal, and takes something of the boozy note to create a rarely pleasant aroma.
The one thing I miss in this scent is a dose of unexpected. It's perfectly blended, lasts quite a bit, is versatile, stylish and safe. Yet, it's maybe too safe, a fragrance for pretty much everyone. You will get compliments and people will certainly notice you, but to an unexperienced nose this may seem like some other, cheaper things.
If you are looking for an aromatic perfume for all seasons and occasions, definitely give this thing a try.

I have a sample of this. It's just a pricey version of La Nuit de l`Homme.

Fresh, semi frozen, like a cocktail of juniper, lemon with a a handful of pepper and a touch of gin, perfect for summer, really aromatic and spicy.
Actually represents and reflects well this season, i found something tailored to me.
Nice work Frapin!

I have never experienced juniper in a scent before, and what a wonderful introduction to it, L'Humaniste is. Definitely a gin and tonic with a slice of lemon which is so subtle that it takes you a while to realise you are enjoying the gin-smell of the juniper and not the lemony summery smell: I'm wearing it during the long winter months to remind me of the happy summer days coming soon.

Hmm... such gorgeous lemon scent, a "love" for me. On the other hand, I could do with a bit more longevity and projection. This reminds me of Edition Blanche but more zesty, however the two fragrances are different enough to own both (or either if you just want one for warmer weather).

L'Humaniste: a unique take on a fresh Summer scent. It's a slightly sweetened gin and tonic, complete with citrus zest. There is slight spice/pepper in the background. Somehow it manages to be both "sparkling" in texture and creamy at the same time. A bit light on sillage and longevity: a couple sprays to the shirt does the trick, though. Well worth the price.

Overall: 4.5/5

Nice, very nice. Almost 100% sure this is supposed to smell like a gin and tonic with the gin, juniper and citrus notes. For such a notable house I was quite disappointed with the lack of longevity, and to my surprise, the juniper note seems absolutely identical with that of Versace's the Dreamer. While the two are not even close, I could not get that out of my head, and I would not be surprised if it is the same aromachemical.

Pleasant and fresh, but not worth the money in my opinion. I enjoyed my sample but won't go back.

The opening is very promising: stimulating citrus notes which are in a way reminiscent of Dolce and Gabbana pour homme. But it fades very quickly!

After less than an hour I can hardly detect a very weak smell consisting of citrus and a rich aromatic-woody and spicy base, but just if I put my nose on my skin!

Nice but weak scent. Overall it gets 4 out 10 IMHO, mostly because of lack of strength.

Why, oh why, is this marketed for men?? It's totally unisex, and even veering towards the feminine in the drydown when the peony makes its entrance. But it's the beginning that takes your breath away. Probably the lightest, brightest, zingiest Amalfi lemon and pepper since my beloved Crabtree & Evelyn Cayman Winds was discontinued. And the gin/juniper notes makes this into an amazing cocktail - I would just like to bathe in it in summer and then drink the bathwater! This is only the second perfume I have tried from Frapin, both have been lovely, the quality is obvious here. A beautifully crafted citrus.

Nice, niche lemons and cream at the start, mixed with some juniper berries. Not too sweet, but balanced. Lots of pepper, some cardamom too. I believe the gin produces the 'fizzy' effect, but I found it very hard to detect. More fizz, but less gin for me.

As others have stated, it does resemble Chanel's Edition Blanche very closely, so fans of that may want to try this. It seems to develop into it's mid far quicker than the Chanel, it's mid is more prominent and richer but with less projection.

I was a little disappointed, this being a niche and made by the acclaimed Frapin house, particularly as again I could not detect oak moss or the gin.

Pink pepper is there, also some soft woods, but overall I think the Chanel did a little better with it's alluring spices (really!). This seems a little simple compared to the Chanel. I was really looking forward to the Peony flower/pink-pepper accord, but sadly couldn't find it. So, that doesn't help it's score, but the notes are very high quality.

Competition from Chanel means I give this a lower score than Edition Blanche, simply because of price!
Still a nice, clean scent that has real obvious quality.

4/5.

Thought I would like this because of the notes, but this just comes off to me as 'ok'. To me the scent is nice and quality, but just nothing impressive whatsoever. Wearable, but with all the other options out there, I will pass on this one. Some masculine notes, but closer to the unisex side to me.

Beside our personal preferencies (oriental, aquatic, chypre etc etc), sometimes I think we all should give a chance to perfumes who usually don't catch our interest or attention, and maybe we could happen to like what we didn't expect to.

That's exactly what happened to me with L'Humaniste. As I'm usually into, leather, oriental, edgy and bold perfumes, at a first sniff I was just about to dismiss L'Humaniste as one of the millions citruses cologne avialable on the market, but I decieded to give it more attention discovering an incredible and quite deep fragrance. A superior quality is notiecable throughout, form the citrusy-peppery opening (maybe not so original but magistrally executed), through the spicy (cardamom) middle phase (where juniper and gin play their main role), to the fresh and mossy drydown. Sober and discreet but with personality and most important of all, masterfully crafted. A great summer fragrance.

Rting: 7.5/10

A big beautiful radiant citrus scent, luminous, warm and slightly sweet, even with the bracing juniper notes. One of the most uplifting citrus scents I've encountered.

I like the fragrance very much, the central part is juniper and gin, very light, crystal-clear and masculine. I smell sour nuances around the note of gin, and I like it, very dazzling. This fragrance settles close to skin, the sillage is modest.

I had a chance to taste it. To tell the truth I was a bit disapointed... Frapin is a wonderful niche house and its fragrances are so rich and dignified, but the latest one seemed to me a bit boring. Oh, actually it is nice, pleasant and very ordinary men perfume. Without salt. Just a perfume for everyone. And that's pity!

I love perfumes by Frapin very much: everything, the juice and the design. This name, L`Humaniste, sounds appealing to me.
