Teak Wood Gandini 1896 for women and men

this opens warm, peppery and woody with a hint of violet, but as it warms on the skin the violet almost explodes leaving the woodier elements behind to catch up with itself later. all in all this is a nice, if not somewhat basic / linear fragrance. gandini made the frags in this line to correlate with eachother (much like jo malone) so the lack of complexity is understandable. this makes for a lovely violet fragrance that's not heavy on the cloying sweet notes one usually finds paired with violet. the teak wood is very warm and lovely. this frag does not really "evolve" or become more complex - rather the few notes within make themselves noticeable at different times through wear.

on my skin this becomes very warm and slightly feminine, not sure it would suit a man as the violet is incredibly prominent.

highly recommend for violet enthusiasts and people looking for warm wood scents rather than sharp ones. staying power for me is around 3-4 hours and it stays close to the skin. the bottle is rather underwhelming in appearance (although the box it arrived in was cute) and this entire line is competitively priced, making it accessible to all fragrance lovers.

this was a blind buy (i'm a sucker for woods!) and i'm so happy with gandini teak wood i'm ready to try the basil and lime fragrance from them as well. to be honest the entire 1896 line caught my eye and since this first blind buy was so successful i'm ready for more. bring on the gandini!
