Genny original is a perfume launched in 1987. It features the notes of rose, jasmine, ylang-ylang, iris, patchouli, oakmoss, olive blossom, marigold, musk, ambergris, petit grain and cardamom.

Genny is one of my favorite chypres. Sadly, this perfume can hardly be found these days, but I managed to track a bottle , and I love it like it's 1987 again. If you like Clinique's Aromatics Elixir, you'll probably love this, too. Genny starts off with aldehydes and very green, somewhat harsh notes, but almost instantly settles down into its base notes of moss, patchouli, vetiver and sandalwood.
It's a very dry chypre with no sweetness to it at all. It's a softer and less loud version of Aromatics, but still holds onto that herbal, mossy character of the classic chypre genre. I miss the days of these kinds of fragrances. Wearing Genny today, in 2011, it's safe to say you will stand out in the best way, and if it works with your skin chemistry, heads will turn. You'll most definitely be unique, as I am sure not many, if any, will have ever heard of this perfume. Still living the '80's proudly.
