Inspired by beauty of Pantellerie, where he spent his vacation, Armani created the aroma of Aqua di Gio for men and women. The fragrance for men is a scent of freedom, full of wind and water. The composition is built of a perfect harmony of sweet and salty notes of sea water and nuances of sunny warmth on your skin. Aqua di Gio is full of scorching Mediterranean sun. Bitter citrus with aromatic nuance of rosemary intertwines with salty, sea nuances and pellucid hedione. Sharp notes of spices are softened by woody base with warm, musky trail.
It was created in 1996 by Alberto Morillas.

I see that people either love this or hate this...which is strange because I always thought it smelled WONDERFUL on my husband (boyfriend at the time).
On him, I get citrus, spice, a woodsy note, musk, and even a note in an acquatic note (which I suppose keeps it from being too heavy). Mixed with my husband's skin chemistry, I actually thought it smelled quite sexy. I couldn't stop sniffing him. *lol* I could not detect many flowers (if any) whenever he wore it, but I'm glad. I don't doubt that they helped to enhance its charming aroma, though. Perhaps they kept the fragrance from turning into a citrus bomb. Unfortunately, it only lasted about 4 hours on his skin. Perfect for for any weather, IMHO. From beginning to end its fantastic on the right person.

This scent blew me away when I first got my hands on a sample...as for now...it's an okay aquatic scent. The drydown is a little too sour for my liking. Also, EVERYONE WEARS IT!

A lemon-jasmine-patchouli scent which I do not find special, especially because of the fact that is extremely commmon. Everyone buys it, even if it is for them or not. It is fresh, I tried to like it just like that, but the patchouli note combined with citrus smells like cheap soap on my skin.

Definately the best guys cologn ever made! It is the hottest smell. It seriously makes me melt... yummmmmm!

Great for Maritime Charting environment. Smooth smelling but flies under the radar. Can be worn in masculine environment that is homophobic. Subtle chick magnet. Fresh scent when a shower is not available. Never offensive. Is a good cover scent.

mm,. i always think this is an overrated fragance, to 90s ADG was a new vibe with the aquatic-fruity base, but in our present.. you have many options to choose what to wear.

This highly successful men’s fragrance is neither new nor unique; it falls into a category that has been received with much appeal and alacrity for its genre. Some comparable and close cousins are Diore Energy, Versace Pour Homme, Paco XS and Cartier Pour Homme.
This is a very fresh scent with a very discernable note of what appears to be watermelon; indeed it is very “watermelonish”. It is attractive watermelonish. You may like it at first application, or it might take you several attempts to like it, but like it, you will, eventually; it is that good of an enjoyable fragrance.
I heard so many complaints that it is lacking in longevity, that it has hardly any sillage (English adulteration of the French: Silage, pronounced “Seyyage”), and that it is so light that one can hardly discern it even minutes after application.
Two factors must be addressed in this regard; 1) one’s olfactory sense is de-synthesized in time with the repeated bombardment of some scents into one’s own nose, hence, while you may no longer discern a scent that you applied to your face or hands, others can very easily detect that scent even from a distance away, 2) this fresh type of fragrance is intended by design to have a light impact on any nose, but the longevity may still persist albeit with a much lighter impact.
It is also of note that you should understand that the overwhelming popularity of this fragrance didn’t come from an abyss! Rather it has taken people by surprise, some fell in love with it instantly (Those with little or no perfume experience) , and others have given themselves time to acclimatize their olfactory senses to accept the new genre. The third type kept fighting their innate rejection until old habits “died-hard.”
If this would be your only fragrance, then you should look elsewhere for a more permanent favorite. But if you are building a wardrobe, then either this, Dior energy, Paco XS, or Versace Pour Homme should be a very good choice to represent this genre within the build of your wardrobe assemblage.

A woman colleague of mine used to get some flowers from her boyfriend and let them in the room for a while. The smell that used to stay in that room reminds me a little about Acqua di Gio. Not a good thing at all ":-).
Some flowery note (maybe rose), a bit feminine to me, which I just don't like.

This is definitely amazing and masculine scent!Very aquatic and very fresh. I will rate it as BEST MEN PERFUME.
I really love this scent alot on men. Sorry I have to disagree about the not-long-lasting point because I think it is really long lasting, even after washing the the cloth, I can still smell the scent on shirt.

I don't know what's so special about it. I mean yea it smells nice, it's fresh, but it doesn't last long. For someone reason, probably based on how commercialized it is, women ask for it and claim it drives them crazy. If you ask me it's because everyone wears it and you know when you smell it. Trendy people, I should sell mine. A lighter version of this is Eternity Summer 2009

Sorry,but had to write another review.I like to say that i have a magical time with this classic fragrance.How it always reminds me of a beautiful summer morning(top notes)starting a hole new day for me.Then comes ten minutes later(evaporation of alcohol)when it wakes my heart up completely and opens it and fills it with freshness.Then when the middle notes come in it surprises me with its character of kindness and peace.The scent lets me get to know it.Then we spend the summer day together,letting other people fall in love with it.Then comes the after noon,the sun setting,the scent letting it self warm on me.Coming a new,calmer character into place,a darker,but still fresh scent.The scent lets me know it one last time before it goes away.The musky scent leaving with out saying goodbye.But people remembering that great scent keeps the scent alive.You miss the day you had,but remember,you still got lots more sprays and adventures ahead of you.

This stuff is OK but it is another one of the subtle fresh citrus woodsy ocean scents worn by virtually all of the college and adult crowd.
Despite this it does smell good and armani has the best fragrances but they become PLAYED OUT cuz all these guys overdo them

Forget my first blog.I smelled and tried a lot of aquatic fragrances.But something in this one thats so aquatic and citrusy and special to me!And its still unique to me.Others fragrances smell great but this one has something special.I love it!!!I don't care if a lot of people have it (only 3 people i know),I want it!!!And its a classic.

fresh smell but every semi-sophisticate from age 15-30 is wearing this. i abandoned it when i smelled it on three or four chaps in the dingiest dive bar ive ever been to.
there are plenty of other fresh scents that offer similiar tones but will at least pop and provide some uniqueness. worth the sacrifice to stray from this aqua to stand out.

A very fresh and clear scent. One of the best aquatics out there, and this one really reminds you of the ocean and seaside breeze. Sure to get a few compliments if you wear it too. A very safe bet for almost any occasion. But because of that, it's become very common out on the streets, in the offices, etc. Lasts very long on the skin. Will continue to be one of the favourites of a lot of people! :)

I can understand perfectly all the ones who can't stand this fragrance and I can't see while is still is such a magnet for females. Unlike most of the Armani scents, most of them being innovative and spectacular just like their creator's unique personality, this definetly reeks like cheap supermarket aftershave.

Acqua di Gio is definitely an original. Light and airy and reminds me of ocean breezes. Very nice masculine scent. As mentioned before, you can't go wrong with this one.

Probably the best man parfume for men, it fits good on every man. My boy friend used it for years, we loved it so much, but I had to ask him to change because everyone was wearing it and becomed so famous that it is quite non-original. If you are indecided and don't know what to buy... this ones maked for you for sure. If you want something more original... keep searching.
