Armani Prive Vetiver Babylone by Giorgio Armani is a woody aromatic fragrance for men. Armani Prive Vetiver Babylone is a new fragrance and it was introduced in 2008. Top notes are mandarin orange, citruses and bergamot; middle notes are coriander, cardamom and pink pepper; base notes are patchouli and vetiver.

Another bergamot/citrus opening. *Sigh* I know I shouldn't judge on the first few seconds, but it's still annoying.

Anyway, on to this ones' namesake: vetiver. I've tried Sel de Vétiver, Guerlain Vetiver and own Anthousa Fig&Vetiver, and I've never managed to actually pin down *vetiver* as a smell in and of itself. Babylone doesn't help me, really; it's relatively light, bright, citrusy, refreshing, a bit on the herbal side, pleasant. I don't know where the vetiver comes in.

I guess this one does the same to me as Hermessence Osmanthe Yunnan: it's "nice". But for an exclusive scent like this one, that's a kiss of death. I can smell "nice" with something much cheaper. Maybe the magic of this perfume eludes me - my apologies to mr. Armani. I may try again in a year and ridicule my old self for being so uncouth. Then again, it may still be "nice".
