Ange ou Demon (for women)
Designer: Givenchy Olfactive Group: Oriental FloralSweet freshness of the top notes of mandarin, white cumin and saffron opens the way to the opulent floral heart: the strong lily note in alliance with casual notes of Maxillaria orchid and exotic ylang-ylang. The trace is dominated by two woodsy notes: creamy rosewood and dense oak moss absolute, while the powdery and sensual Tonka and vanilla end the composition.
The fragrance was created by Jean-Pierre Bethouart and Olivier Cresp in 2006.
Ange ou Demon Fragrance Reviews:
add reviewI can't stand it....

It gives a fresh/warm contrast, interesting, quite pleasant. It has a sexy edge but I'm not sure what note conjures this. It's more of an afrodisiac/attarction effect that all Givenchy's scent seem to have. This effect seems to be aimed more at the wearer than others and maybe work on both. There's just something...weird in these scents that basically helps any strong Givenchy's concoction to be pleasant even if it must be something that makes them smell dirty after a while or you sweat a lot.
ange ou Demon, all in all is a new originhal accord of thyme-tangerine-white lily (in Anais Anais style) and plain warm vanilla, same vanilla base as in Amarige, Organza and Very Irresistible. This is a scent that gives me an impression of trick, like something nice and strange mixed together, added with special ingredient and poured in a fancy aggressive dark sligthly tacky bottle with the usual "mysterious" blonde one who never says anything, just a knowing gaze ("I know that you wouldn't care, but I'm staring at you showing my bum, so you'll have to be interested") and the game is done!
I have many samples, I wear it sometimes, it's an ok fragrance for average mainstreet scent-wearing.

Traditionally I go for woodsy orientals, so it was a pleasant surprise for me to fall in love with a floral oriental. I would describe this fragrance as appropriate for a mature, sophisticated and confident woman - not mature in the sense of age but in style. Not unlike a dress that wears the woman instead of the woman wearing the dress, I think this is for a very specific type of woman or else the fragrance could wear her.
Ange ou Demon and Coco Mademoiselle are my two absolute go to fragrances. Highly recommend for the right woman!

But you easily could get tired of it. I don't think I'll be wearing any time soon again, even though I enjoyed the time wearing it.
It's very elegant and special.
It's not nasty, is innocent.

I forgot to add that the EDP is a must, the EDT is too fresh and the wonderful powdery oriental floral notes are lost to a fresh water scent. The EDT doesn't hold a candle to the EDP.

It has a strong accent, yet it is also very delicate.
Can be overpowering if too much is sprayed on.

Finally, I think this fragrance is romantique and I detect little coconut in initially notes and I want to buy it.
I recommend this smell and it is ideal for season... Fall ! ♥

Well, i've reached two conclusions - first i don't like Ange ou Demon and second - now i know for sure, powdery fragrances are not for me!
P.S. reminds me Kenzo Flower.

Is a refined, sophisticated yet deeply sensual, mysterious.

The lovely bottle and somehow the 'complex' scent makes it a special one. I like wearing it but my boyfriend doesn't seem to agree with my enthusiasm. He doesn't like it at all and he thinks that this is a fragrance a 60 year old lady should wear. I totally disagree with him (but still love him! LOL) because I believe that its 'eccentricity' makes it so unique amongst its olfactive group.

Editing to add that the persistence (la persistance) is great on this one, too. Even on my wrists, it lasted through an entire workday!

Top notes are flowery nice sweet smelling, then it fades away and reveals strong spicy-flowery scent.
It reminds me of flats in city centre, where ceilings are high and intelligent people used to live. It invokes memory of my grand-grandma wearing art deco inspired dresses and hairstyle on old photos. It makes me think of lilies and gladiolus in vase on bound tablecloth. So nice perfume...
P.S. Bottle and the name is great!
I reached dry-down .... wow! I want this one now even more. It was one of the best...
the best smell ever! It gives me something, some feeling, it just makes me feel perfect always!
can't live without it!

The concept is great but it just doesn't work for me really. The fragrance starts a bit medicinal for me- it is really strong and nice for a couple of minutes but then it just fades into something too sweet and too average to turn somebody's head. There's something artificial in it that I can't stand.
I would expect something that starts really innocent & angelic and then turns into rich, dark and sensual drydown.
That's just my opinion but there's absolutely nothing mysterious or dark about it.

When I put it on my skin for the very first time, I was completely disgusted. I thought that I have never smelled such an awful perfume. Then, maybe 5 minutes later, my senses went into an absolutely new world. I smelled the most gorgeous, sensual, attractive and alluring scent! Yes, it’s also deep, dark, seductive, mysterious and devilish. It’s not for a little, innocent and playful girl; this fragrance is for a woman who hides something gloomy in her eyes and something lustful in her soul. You must feel this scent with your inner world, not just to sniff it with your nose.

I agree that the EdP may be too heavy - so apply sparingly. The note which indeed can be overpowering on some is the rosewood. On my skin it's not that strongly defined - I feel only sweetness.
The tonka beans round it off nicely.
I still maintain that this is not for teenagers; this is a mature scent.
(I'm not saying that it's for old women - just saying that it's for someone who is confident with her femininity...)
The staying power is great.

Second hour the lillies completely disappeared, and a strange syrupy note took its place. I can't even explain it. Never smelled anything like it before. Thankfully it wasn't very strong.
Third hour? I can barely detect anything at all. It's like the perfume completely evaporated on my skin. I've heard from so many others that this is extremely long-lasting, so maybe I got a bad sample. I'll try it again at a future point and re-post if I have a different experience.

I should add that I do think that overapplying this perfume would be a mistake. It's strong and could easily be overbearing. But applied with a light hand, this is a perfume that is very sexy and would be great for a night out with that special person.

I think I would definitely like it more if it held some freshness, citrus or floral, in it.

i think this is good perfume to wear occasionally or in winter or at nite.....
love this... =))
When it rains, Ange ou Demon smells like the rotted fruit, covered with sugar pouder. Terrible.....

My Angel is saying; it is warm and sweet and vanilla white
Then the little Devil on my left shoulder goes: Hahaha! Gotcha! Let me send you some poisonous substance your way with these deep and dark flowers I have!
I guess it is brilliant coming up with a scent like this - neither good or evil. But I could not make myself buy it, as I cannot decide which side to take :)

For sure, it's not for everyone. I see a strong, confident woman wearing this.
It reminds me also of my insolence except for the raspberry note.
If you like powdery perfums from Kenzo, you might enjoy this one too.
at the end of the bottle it just make me head ache and sick.

The citrus, floral & vanilla scents smell amazing. It's a comforting scent, yet energizing.
Angel or Demon? Both definitely, and that's how I like it!

When I first put it on my skin, I smelled nothing but soap. I hated it. The more I wore it, the more I love it! The soapiness went away. The dry down reminds me of Armani Code, but not as dark. (Armani Code is my all-time favorite). I smell a lot of florals, not sure which ones, but very beautiful ones. It must be the lily. I now want this!
My biggest problem is that when I buy a new perfume, I have discovered at least a coupple of new perfumes that I must have. But it is a nice problem. ;)
